The Cambridge Hotel

I was very impressed with this hotel. It’s very reasonably priced. It’s well positioned for the centre of the city, buses, the beach and a supermarket. There is a cinema nearby and plenty of places to eat and drink. I asked for a quiet room when I booked and was given a single room on floor 2 which was perfect to recover from jet lag. It’s spotlessly clean. The shared bathroom was also very clean. The showers could do with upgrading but they were ok. The bed was really comfortable. I stayed for 6 nights and was really pleased that there was a good sized fridge in the room. The staff were friendly, helpful and available when needed. There was a 10% discount on food and drink in the bar. I ate there one night. The food was reasonably priced and I enjoyed it. I’ll stay again on my way back through Wellington at the end of my trip. Well done.

Gorgeous old building. I had a private room with shared bathroom the room was big enough for myself and clean. The showers were clean spacious and not very busy. For the price I can't imagine finding better.

I stay here frequently…. So why? The single room is perfect… a classic, traditional pub hotel room. No pretending, spotlessly clean, well appointed will all the quintessentials. This property represents absolute excellent value. Furthermore, these marvellous old pubs are a what cities were once about. The bar and food is excellent too… I received a 10% discount chit that was an added bonus for my stay on all food and beverage. Thank you…. XX

A lovely, comfortable, spacious, and quiet hotel. I really appreciate the classic, old-style design. I was very happy with my room and would like to book this hotel again next year. The service was good and staff were always helpful when I needed assistance. Keep it up.

It is right in the heart of the CBD, you don't need a car as the CBD in relation to The Cambridge Hotel is extremely walkable. However, public transport is also right on the door-step if you want it. New World is only a few hundred metres away. Lots of cafes and restaurants are close by. The rooms are excellent value and the staff have always been really nice and more than willing to help. This place also seems to attract guests that are friendly, polite and considerate of others staying there. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay, you can't do better than The Cambridge Hotel. I honestly don't know how they can even offer some of the cheap prices they do for what you get.

Staff were excellent. They handled any small hiccups with ease. Beds are comfy and my small single room was well laid out. They even gave me a late check out. The walls are thin so bring ear plugs. At 7am the pub down stairs tipped out glass bottles waking me up. Not cool.

Accommodation. Room 208 a single room with shared bathroom. I have stayed here numerous times. And its never been a bad stay. Some things could do with being upgraded. The mattress was dipping on the edge where everyone sits, ( I wonder if they are rotated at all, or often enough?) The blinds need up grading but were usable) I wonder If the outside building lights could be on a timer, they are very bright and shine through the less than effective blinds all night! Handy hint request a non street facing room for much less noise and light. The old sash windows block almost no sound or breeze for that matter! Overall it is exceptional value with a good location. Which is the reason I keep coming back.

Absolutely delicious. We both had the Korean Fried Chicken and it didn't disappoint. Was soooo yummy. The service was a bit all over the place, the First Table table was occupied so one of the bartenders said we could sit anywhere. Then we went to order and another bartender was confused because we weren't sitting at the specific First Table table, so they had to ask another bartender, etc. In the end we had to move to the First Table table, that was now free and then everything went smoothly from there. Great food, fun pub atmosphere, confused service.

My first time to Wellington, we spend a few days here. It is a lovely hotel. Rooms are clean and tidy . You do however have a shared bathroom. This hotel caters for backpackers too. There is a shared kitchen you can use as well as a washing machine and dryer. Down stairs is a bar and restaurant that serves delicious meals.

Right on the river front and part of a wonderful hotel, this hostel is unique in my experience. Essentially, the owners have provided posh hotel rooms, and equally nice but non-suite hostel rooms. They even have teasmaids and TVs! If I had one quibble it's that the lights in the bathroom are on a timer and go out after a few minutes - usually just as you're trying to get the soap out of your eyes. The bar on the ground floor is great and they do backpacker specials like a BBQ once a week which are great value. Failing that, there's a cracking Chinese a few doors up ;)
