On the Grid : The Camp House

"Go for the people, stay for the coffee. (And the waffles.) The best event house–concert venue–coffee bar on the list, The Camp House has grown into a Chattanooga mainstay. Powered by a fantastic staff and on point service, the menu is eclectic but approachable. We would start with The Camp House Waffle or granola drizzled with date syrup and honey. Finish the place setting with a chemex of Counter Culture coffee. If breakfast isn’t your thing drop in for lunch or that night’s show. With up and coming talent gracing the stage—earlier this year Noah Gundersen dropped “So burn me a cigarette” on a sold out crowd—you may catch more than a Nashville stand in." - Whiteboard

High quality southern cuisine! Recipes are a blend of flavors created by the owner, a grandfather, who is the best story teller, a solid patriot, and has a heart the size of Mississippi! Located in a classic small southern town, with a motto of, “Someplace special,” you’re sure to be impressed! An easy, worthwhile stop off of I59, Hwy 15 or Hey 18, you’re sure to be impressed! I’ve lived down south from literally, coast to coast and in between, and the quality of food, service, and overall value is at the top of the charts! Regularly serving cafeteria style lunches with an optional short menu to order from, and a very impressive supper menu, that’s very reasonably priced. Hosting group events and live music, with many friendly locals and visitors, The Camphouse is a gem with a southern charm that is sure to have you leaving a Google review similar to this! ;) Safe travels, enjoy your visit, and make sure you say hi to the owner, Mr. Kevin!

I’ve visited the Camp House many times and it’s always a solid choice for a really good meal. I’ve ate here for both lunch and supper and I’ve tried many different things….fried chicken, fried pork chops, baked chicken, mac n cheese, green beans, salads, loaded salads, ribeye, filet mignon, different fish dishes, cheese curds, egg rolls, etc.. I’ve tried many things and all have been very good. I highly recommend the Camp House for a good lunch or supper option.

Let me start by saying that I'm sure this night is not the norm. With that being said, this was only a 3 out of 5 experience. Solely due to the long wait time for our food to arrive. But that's where the negative narrative ends. The food was delicious and hot. We had the fish ( which by personal preference only, could have been cooked just a little longer). The fries and hush puppies were my favorite. And my wife couldn't get enough of the cole slaw. We ran into a lot of old acquaintances, church family and friends, so that made the night out all the more enjoyable. And for the amount of food we got, the price was right on point. I see why the seating is limited. If you haven't tried it or are just visiting the town. Stop by and be ready to become family.

Fried pork chops to die for and the best service I have ever had. Thanks for the stories also. Don’t miss this place, you’ll go hungry if you do.

Simple menu. Cafeteria style: pick 1 main dish, 2 sides, a bread, and a drink. All this for approximately $14.00. I had: Lasagna, sweet corn, "loaded" green beans (cut geen beans, bacon, pearl onions, bell peppers), a roll, and a glass of sweet tea. I've never had Lasagna with chunk tomatoes, not bad; just different (Several chunks were HARD, like stem). The green beans had a large piece of stem in it. Other than above issues, the food was well prepared and tasty, with decent size portions. While dining, a staff member came around inquiring if i needed anything, and brought me a free drink refill (I dined in). Overall, not a bad place to eat.

Best food anywhere around here including Laurel and Meridian. Great service. Great people. If you have not tried one of their steaks, you are missing out.
