This was our last meal of the trip. So far, we had not been impressed with the food in Natchez. Just being honest here. (Visit Butter Cakery, it's soooo good!) We sadly missed pizza at the Natchez Brewery. We are confident it would have been great and will make it a point to go next time.
We started with the pulled pork nachos. They are the perfect size for four people to wet your appetite for a good meal and are delicious!
I had the shrimp platter. I normally prefer a flour batter, but the cornmeal batter was really good. I do wish the shrimp were deveined but you can't have it all. We were all impressed with the size of the dish. Plenty of shrimp, fresh hot fries and I subbed tartar sauce for the remoulade. I love their tartar!!
Mike had the smoked fried wings in hot Asian sauce. He said they were good. We added a side of Mac and cheese because, well, it's Mac and cheese! Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice sauce. Recommend the Mac and cheese as a side. The slaw on my platter was good. Not as sweet as I prefer, but a nice creamy slaw.
Our aunt and uncle ate light. They each got a slider and fries. Both said they enjoyed them.
Dessert: according to our server, about once a year, the bread pudding of the day is the apple pie bread pudding. I'm sad to tell you that if you miss this bread, pudding, you missed out. It is the perfect temperature served with the scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel. I know, apple pie bread pudding sounds odd, but let me tell you it is spectacular. Whoever is making the bread pudding knows how to make bread pudding. Not heavy or stodgy, not too custardy (my word). It is so light and delicious.
The restaurant wasn't too noisy, it has a casual but not too casual feel.
We will come back when we visit again!
