Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Finally got to try it a few weeks ago. Really liked the laid back atmosphere however it seems to extend to the wait staff and kitchen. Neither seemed to want to be there. The blue cheese burger was tasteful however the patty looked like a regular frozen store bought one and the fries were luke warm. My wife's burger was good and she really liked the onion rings.

Google
Funky, unique dining spot with some really great food. Known for their crazy and delicious burgers, also has a great selection of sides and other fun treats. Definitely a place to check out multiple times to test out the different creations available. Really clean joint with well maintained washrooms. The entire place has an awesome vibe and some fun seating options (bar, booth, table). Would recommend getting a side of yam fries or onion rings to go with your main dish. Service was friendly but the food did take a while before it came.

Google
This was a cool place that I have meaning to try. The burgers were delicious! Not commercial tasting at all. We also had a side of fried and onion rung, which was very tasty as well. Would definitely want to go back to try the milkshakes and it looked really good as well.

Best Happy Hour in E Van. I am the judge, jury and executioner when it comes to happy hours in Vancouver. I am blessed by living in commercial but hands down Cannibal Cafe is the best. Anita and the rest of the staff are incredible and really focus on delivering the best experience. Prices are fair and portions are generous. Long live Cannibal Cafe. It’s only a matter of time before I try “The Beast” challenge burger. I love this place more than any other happy hour spot in the lower mainland.

Google
Good spot, hit and miss sometimes for service however we had a great server at the time. Burgers were good, average size, above average quality, but could use some work on the bun as it was a little stale. Average Vancouver prices for a "burger joint"

Went to Cannibal Cafe on Saturday evening. We got a table right away and our server was really friendly. Cool atmosphere with Vancouver music event posters from the past posted on all the walls. Menu didn’t have a lot of options outside of burgers on a few appies and sides. My burger was delicious and everyone I was with enjoyed there’s too. A bit on the pricey side - $18 for my burger (no fries or anything with it), but other than that, a good spot that I’d go back to.

Google
WAAY too much oil / grease... 🍔🍟🧅 I came for dineout with friends to try it put because there's onion rings on their menu. I was excited to get the onion rings and a burger combo just as my friends but we were all rendered disappointed at the end of the meal...🥲 Everything fried were DRIPPING in oils, especially the onion rings. Not only were they extremely oily, they also had no extra flavour from the batter. The only flavour came from the dipping sauce (which is really necessary to make the onion rings go from sub-par to quite mediocre. I swear I've had better onion rings for same price at fast food places! The burger on the menu (the american) was also quite mediocre. Gonna give it 0.5 bonus stars for the very friendly and helpful server. Other than that, I wouldn't come back again.

The "Bacon Bad" was pretty good. Didn't have the greatest experience picking up my order though. I ordered through their website on January 14 and it said to come pick up my food at 6:40PM. I showed up a bit early at around 6:35PM and nobody was there to greet me. It seemed pretty full inside so I walked over to the cash register and let the cook, who was the only one around as far as I could tell, know I was here to pick up my online order. He confirmed it was a Bacon Bad and asked me to wait 5 minutes. I let him know that I'd wait outside and I waited around 7-10 minutes before going back in so he wouldn't have to rush too much. When I walked back in, the cook tried to give me the food but a waitress told him it was for another customer. They had a bit of debate about who it was for but the waitress looked over the receipt and said it was for the person she had "keyed in manually." The cook was very apologetic towards me and asked me to wait another 2 minutes so he could finish preparing the second order that was on the grill which was cool with me. All of this was fine up to this point but I wasn't getting the greatest of vibes from the waitress. I was checking my phone and she went to grab a paper bag before putting an order in there and then handed it to me without a word or any eye contact. I said "thanks" and then left. I assume she was just having a bad day but I don't think I did anything to deserve such cold treatment. I even ordered through their site directly and tipped so that the store wouldn't get hit by the Uber tax but oh well. Overall, the food was good but I think this may have been my first and last time ordering from this restaurant.

Yelp
Came here looking for the famous stuffed burgers. Ordered the Bacon Bad Burger. Heard it was stuffed with cheese and bacon. I searched and searched and searched. Legend is I am still searching... found almost nothing. The Fries were very un cripsy. Especially the Parm garlic fries. The service was good. Friendly and helpful. Only reason it got an extra star. I might come back and try the bleu burger to see if it fairs any better.

Yelp
Great service...but the food was sooo overly greasy and just baaad. The most deep-fried food I've ever experienced. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Came for Dine Out Vancouver, it was a good value..but , honestly, not worth it. Even the float was weird tasting.

Yelp
I do not ever say this, I never feel inspired to write views on my experience at restaurants, but Cannibal Cafe is THE BEST burger I have ever had. Cocktails were amazing too, and the server was the best I've ever had. Such a chill, clean, well oiled elegant mechanism of a punk rock burger machine. 11/10. Amazing.

Yelp
5/5 Service. 5/5 Food. 5/5 Value. 4/5 Ambiance. Grassfed burgers at reasonable prices. Not to mention delicious with great thoughtfulness behind the creation. Had the complimentary b-day burger- American Burger. Came with 2x 3 oz patties. Hands down the best burger I had in a long time. The buns were toasted and not overly gigantic-just the right size. Came with a large pickle to balance the savouries. It went really well with the Cannibal Lager, which IMO, was exceptionally smooth and refined. Service was fantastic. The waitress held off punching in our food until three to get us the "happy hour" rates. Very thoughtful. Considering the B-day burger was on the house, it was a great deal. Value-wise is excellent. My partner ordered Korean Bbq glaze lettuce wrapped. Ambiance to some may be a bit of suspect but I don't mind the kitsch playfulness of using outlandish themed concert and promotional materials to decorate the walls. Amusing.

Yelp
Great staff, excellent food and I always feel like I need to be carried out after. So good. Bacon Bad is oh so goooooood.

Yelp
Hubby wanted to try Cannibal Cafe for quite a while now and I came here with managed expectations because of the mixed reviews on Yelp. Dined here on a Sunday evening and we were able to get tables immediately. Our server was pretty cherry and upbeat as well as very friendly and engaging. The interiors are a bit on the rock n roll diner style with booth and bar seating. It had a bit of a messy grunge vibe that might not appeal to everyone. Music played a mix of 90s music that my husband enjoyed a lot. We ordered the following: Vanilla milkshake, half order of Cannibal fries, the Big Ka Tuna for me and Bacon Bad for the hubby. The milkshake was good, typical of those you get at diners. Cannibal fries was something both of us really enjoyed-- crisp fries topped with cheese, green onions, sauteed onions and a secret sauce. The tuna was definitely a hefty portion of tuna steak covered with togarashi spices. The tuna was sashimi grade and cooked medium. It was so good! On the other hand, the hubby was really happy with his bacon bad and milkshake (he finished this even before our burger arrived). Price is quite high but food is great! Glad we gave this a try and if we are in the mood for burgers again, this will be on our list.

Yelp
The atmosphere of this place is definitely unique. it's similar to a bar/dive but still quiet enough that you can talk to one another. we ordered a chicken combo and the salad was amazing as well as the fries. i would recommend getting mild in terms of spice as it was definitely more spicy than i anticipated. (i have a fairly high spice tolerance). for appetizers we got deep fried pickles. to be honest they were a little mediocre as the breading was slightly soggy although the mustard sauce was impressive to say the least. if you're looking for a fun atmosphere and fairly reasonably price food i definitely recommend. except i would probably take a pass on the deep fried pickles

Yelp
Always like going to The Cannibal Café for their milkshakes! They're huge and the creamsicle one tastes exactly like a creamsicle. Servers are always friendly and funny when I visit. Great atmosphere for a chill meal with friends. The walls are plastered with funny and cool posters too. The Happy Hour menu is also a great deal. I had a delicious burger for just $5 and all sides are $1 off. I got a side of fries and mac n' cheese but both were a little plain in my opinion. Always happy to go back but I might try the garlic fries next time.

Yelp
MMMM Just as good as the last time we were here. They offer a free birthday burger (up to $13.95) and it's Milkshake mondays! I got the Bacon burger and a regular strawberry milkshake; the bf got the Blue cheese burger, onion rings and a free vanilla milkshake. My burger was stuffed with bacon, loaded with bacon and cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. Mmmm it was so juicy and perfectly cooked. The blue cheese was super delicious too. Very strong blue cheese so caution if you are not a fan. The onion rings were crispy and just enough to complete our meals.

Yelp
The place was a little grungy but thats the look its going for. The food was so damn good! Some of the best burgers I've ever had. We got the bacon bad burger and the smoke show burger. The bacon bad patty was stuffed with bacon and cheese and the smoke show had hickory sticks which gave it a nice crunch We ordered way too much food! The burger is really heavy on its own so ordering two sides of fries was too much. Cannibal fries were great though, which has a patty on top with a special sauce and cheese. Milkshakes are not on the menu so you have to ask for it. They don't tell you the price either but as a heads up its $8 Great burger place! I look forward to trying their fried chicken as well

Yelp
A hard core high-quality grass-fed beef burger joint that surprising offer over a dozen vegetarian options, have salad and lettuce wrap burgers for keto-minded eaters. Prices reflect high quality ingredients used (who would use certified organic local brisket and short ribs to ground up for patties!) and so typically no sides are included in the signature burgers which runs from $12-$15. Sides are on average $5 each. Bonus given to inventiveness on flavours: they offer Asian flavours inspired by Vietnam (lemongrass burger, coconut chicken burger) and Korean (Korean BBQ glazed burger). I ordered the Korean BbQ burger and from all the grass fed beef burger that I have had, this one is legitimately tasty. The beef patty is juicy with Korean bbq glaze, topped with an inventive mashed cilantro egg fried, then topped with stash of quality kimchi big leaves before getting wrapped in well dried and fresh-tasting lettuce. Overall top notch quality burgers that I could not find even in 5-star hotels. This burger is worthy of the best star-awarded food trucks in Portland. Food arrived fairly quickly hot and fresh. The poutine is standard quality (tasted like pre-made fries and standard gravy mix). Since customer are paying separately for the sides, this area need improvements. Will be back to try other exotic burger flavours Server was attentive and was very patient in explaining how to add sides and toppings and was flexible to take our happy hour order despite we were 10minutes early. Hubby had the birthday special "American Classic" burger and he was very satisfied with the quality tasty beef. We had the Cannibal Draft beer it was super refreshing, mild tasting and good. Decor is a mix of movie and concerts post bills, with a corner big screen TV to catch some sports action. Few catchy graphic elements are spread out as wall features. There are booth seatings as well as communal bar height table with stools. The place can use some tidy up (storage cardboxes were visible in dining area) and cosmetic improvements to brighten things up. A party of ladies were trying to take a group photo and they could hardly find a spot that is well lit. A closer look at the menu highlights there is some special going on for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday (free milkshake, burger and pint for $15), on top of happy hours (junior burgers, $1 off sides, cheaper beer). This place really focus on delivery value to customers. The core offering burger at this joint is top notch with high quality ingredients and inventive flavor combination. To earn the next star, This place need to improve on the poutine (add bacon or crisp onions, higher quality cheese, hand-cut fries), and make minor cosmetic improvements to interiors, this could really be a gourmet top-billing burger joint. For now, I am happy to come here for my favorite Asian Keto Grqss-Fed Burger (Korean BBQ Glazed). My criteria: Food taste and quality: 5/5 Food freshness: 5/5 Ambience and comfort: 3/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Service: 4/5 20/25

Yelp
Pricier than White Spot. If I can get a burger with bottomless fries at White Spot, why would I want to pay more for a burger that doesn't come with fries? That was the dilemma I was faced with when I ate here. Yes, the food tasted good, but the pricing didn't make a whole lot of sense. They do have more burger choices than a White Spot. But, at the same time, they didn't seem to stand out any more than "RELISH", another burger spot just down the street. In fact, I would say that they both offer similar variations of the same burgers. Relish, on the other hand, is a better deal because for about the same price, you could get fries to go with your burger. The waitress was really nice and friendly. Her name was "Sunshine" on the receipt. She brought my daughter a coloring book, crayons and a toy to occupy her. This, we really appreciated. Terrific service, but too pricey. I'll stick to my Monty Mushroom Burger at White Spot.

Yelp
When you can't decide between cheeseburgers or eggs benedict, go for the Cheese Burger Benny. There's even bacon on top and you can ask for half hash browns, half salad. There's your guilt removed. Enjoy.

Suzan L.

Yelp
!!! The Good Morning Vietnam burger melted my brain. Officially. If you shoved me on a deserted island and told me to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life... Yeah, I would probably pick this. The Vietnamese ham patty, egg, daikon, hoison, and mayo (?) was a winning combination. It tasted like an upgraded version of a Vietnamese sub; but you know, as a burger. Needless to say it was gone in minutes. Service was OK too. Our server was nice, and bought us extra hot sauce without me asking, as well as filled the water from time to time. I hope they keep the Vietnam burger on their regular menu though, it's easily better than the vast majority of their other burgers I've tried.

Eliza L.

Yelp
My American Classic burger was cheesy and delicious, and I noticed that there was a unique texture to the bun (I kind of had to squish the burger a bit because it was too tall for my mouth!). The only thing I noticed was that the bun was cold... not a big fan of cold buns. I made a special request for extra pickles on the side, and my friend and I enjoyed a free batch of hand cut fries from using the voucher that we got through checking in on the Yelp app! Yes the fries were free... but they weren't exactly hot and crispy. Maybe that's just what to expect from hand cut fries? Room temp.. and soggy? lol. I wanted to like them, I swear. Sidenote: My friend ordered the tuna burger and it was HUGE. So if you're a big fan of tuna, that might be the choice for you. 4 stars for the yummy burger, but 3 stars for the atmosphere. The decor didn't exactly make me feel like I wanted to sit and chat for much longer after we finished our food so we moved elsewhere afterwards. Putting that aside and judging purely on my burger, I would probably come back and order it To-Go!

Mr. H.

Yelp
Went there for lunch and ordered the Korean BBQ burger. Although I feel like a failure in life for using a fork & knife to eat a burger (was so big) it was delicious. I had to deconstruct the burger a little. The Kimchi was very tasty and the burger was juicy. The cilantro fritter was a little too crispy, but the centre of it was good. The waitress / bartender was great. She was friendly and conscientious of what we needed before we needed it. 4 stars only because of the fritter.

Yelp
The Cannibal Cafe is a fantastic place to get some delicious food and cold beer. The place features a cool punk rock theme with alot a conversation starting decor every where. I'd recommend trying the Bacon Bad burger and the deep fried pickles. Overall, I can't wait to go eat at The Cannibal Cafe again. Check out our blog for more of our write ups at www.thehungrycanadians.com

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places on Commercial Drive! Before I get into how good the food is let me talk about the music and décor. The stereo is always playing stuff like new wave, punk, rockabilly, post and occasional hip hop...basically a dream come true that it's not Top 40 garbage or franchise satellite radio. The back seating areas walls are covered in old show posters and it's a treat to find those nostalgic hidden gems; love the SNFU and Ripcordz. The food is terrific and perfectly in tune with the vibe of a café or diner. I was just there yesterday for like the tenth time and I finally tried the Slammin' Salmon burger. Like everything I've eaten here, it was incredible! Topped off with avocado, lox (which they call smoked salmon 'bacon' on the menu) and a delicious citrus mayo. The actual salmon patty was outstanding as well, fresh and tasty and flaked perfectly when you bit into it. They make terrific veggie burgers here as well, just be careful if you order the Herbisaurus because you will need about twenty napkins to keep all of the flavour off the side of your face. I myself, do not eat cows, but the company I keep does and they have never had a bad thing to say about their burgers. I have personally seen people in ecstasy eating the Big Blue, the Korean BBQ and the Classic. Seriously, my friend's faces contort into little foodgasms and they make those ohh/ahh sounds like they just lost their burger virginity. The fries are terrific (they also have malt vinegar if you're badass enough) and I personally am in love with their onion rings. You get five large rings per order and I am totally that guy who sneaks the biggest one onto my burger. Why? Because life is short and onion rings on burgs makes my day. I always order extra pickles and they never cheap out on giving out multiple extra brine spears, Cannibal Café you are amazing for that! Love the crowd working there, I always feel at home. Servers like to chat, crack jokes and know the menu and will make suggestions if you are stuck on cravings. It is often busy and yet they still hold it together. Oh and the televisions yesterday were showing both the Jays game and Wayne's World, literally awesome.

Yelp
Delicious juicy burger, exactly what I wanted for dinner tonight. Great, upbeat, friendly service. Honestly a good experience all around. I'll be back.

Yelp
The only real negatives I can give this place is related to the decor/atmosphere. There's a strong Hard rock vibe. Loud rock music plays all the time. I would say it might be a bit too loud for some people. Didn't like how there are kinda dirty stained, slightly ripped, hard rock related posters plastered all over on the wall. Didn't like how some areas have small flies such as the area near the computer. There is a corner between the booths where they store restaurant supplies out in the open. Saw some servers were grabbing stuff from there. Its a little messy looking but I guess space was limited. A little critique I have is The fountain drink was really watered down so much that the pop taste is barely there. I recommend you ask for less ice! As for the positives, im happy to report that the food was outstanding. The belle province burger was delicious. Being an establishment that's famous for its good burgers I'm not surprised. Fries were a good thickness and crispiness as well! The service was also excellent. The server was nice and prompt in refilling my drink and answering my questions. If I'm in the area, I may try this place again someday and try their other burgers.

Yelp
Every business should respond this way. Cannibal gets 5 stars for customer service. The last time I came, the food took a little while to come out. I wasn't particularly perturbed by it, but a know a few peeps were. So we were invited back on their dime. Anywho, true to my word I did come back for the blue cheese burger. I did like this burger more than the bacon bad. I know, blasphemy. How can anything be better than bacon??? The swine didn't survive my taste buds this time. $13 I also had a bit of the cannibal fries. Not bad at all. Quite tasty. Hats off to the crew that worked our table that evening. They were very attentive.

Angel L.

Yelp
Came here for Dine Out with my sister. The place was surprisingly busy at 4:30pm, but that might just be because the restaurant is pretty small. Appies: Spin Skins - potato skins topped with spinach and melted cheese. In the words of my sister, "The skin wasn't as crispy as I thought, but the CHEEEEESE!" Cannibal Bruschetta - crispy baguette topped with tomatoes and pastrami. The highlight of the meal for me! Loved the fresh tomatoes combined with the smoky pastrami, very flavourful! Mains: BBQ Jack - beef burger with bacon, Jack Daniel sauce, and the usual veggie toppings. I found the beef patty to be very dry, and the burger overall was just average (bacon was pretty burnt as well). Very disappointing considering that the main focus of this place is the burgers. Chorizo Grilled Cheese - the chorizo added a nice dimension of flavour to an otherwise salty cheese sandwich. Dessert: Chocolate Lava Cake - the cake was barely warmed through, so there wasn't really a liquid centre. It was also overly sweet and not moist. The whipped cream on top was my favourite part of this dessert. Service was similar to that of a typical Chinese restaurant, where they just take your order and bring you food. Overall, I'm glad that I tried this place, but wouldn't come back as there are better options out there.

Flo L.

Yelp
Two people's bill came to be $40. While it looks like a cheap menu, the burger has nothing with it. After getting everything you want in your burger, it's about $15 to $18 for a damn burger! Their happy hour items are not worth $5!!! In short this place is total pub food don't expect any more that than!

Brenda K.

Yelp
Busy restaurant packed with lots of people last night. I got Strawberry Milkshake ($5.49) and Cowabunga Burger ($13.95). Milkshake was good in my opinion but too expensive. It came out fluffy than thick. I'd rather get one from White Spot along with refill. I like how the burger tasted like pizza. It's salty because of the sauce and pepperoni in it. Tomato sauce made the burger flavourful. Burger bun tasted good. Tried some fries and it was crispy. Little bit salty though. Price wise I don't want to pay that much for a burger. That was too expensive. I wanted to give 3 stars at least, but it's overly priced and the service was slow.

Shyla C.

Yelp
Unique place with good service. It's definitely a greasy diner so you have to be in the mood for this type of food. In my group two people got burgers, I had the grilled cheese and my partner got the fried pickles. The sanitation of this place isn't the greatest. There were tons of fruit flies around the wall where the posters are up and flying around our table. This seemed to be the norm in all the booth... not sure why. Maybe the glue on the posters? The tomato soup was much like ketchup. Very thick and saucey. The grilled cheese was literally cheese grilled on both sides with bread in the middle. I wasn't a fan of either. It was just messy and the consistency of the soup with it was not a good meal. The one friend who had the burger loved it and said it was great. So order a burger, but skip the sides. The onion rings and fried pickles both have an excessive amount of batter. If you like lots of batter then this won't be an issue for you. The servers were super friendly and nice. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant which is cool too.

Ana M.

Yelp
You guys were serious when you named your bacon cheeseburger "The Bacon Bad Burger." It really was a BAD burger. All of my instructions were ignored from my order. I ordered no onions and there were onions on my burger. I also ordered extra ketchup but I received 0 ketchup so I had to walk to the store which took about 40 minutes there and back. By the time I got home my burger and fries were cold. The bun was also charred and black and the meat was as thick as the width of my hand? The burger immediately fell apart and was incredibly difficult to eat. The bun was also thin as paper? The fries were also dry and I couldn't even swallow them without drinking water. I called The Cannibal Cafe to voice a complaint but I never received a call back from them. Don't order from this restaurant unless you want your time wasted and night ruined.

Emilija M.

Yelp
Been here before and it was amazing. Unfortunately the Sunday cooks are disappointing. There's only 3 tables and it took us 40min to get our over cooked fries and half breaded onions rings that were served with our cold hamburger buns.

David H.

Yelp
I have to say, the vegetarian burger here is really fantastic. Across the board, all of the burgers that everyone I was with had were solid, classic burgers. The addition of a decent chunk of crisp lettuce adds a welcome crunch, and everything was properly proportioned so that no one ingredient was able to overpower anything else. Also, a particularly important note for a veggie burger: the patty was solid enough so as to not squish and start oozing out from under the bun, and also not rubbery like some "fake meat" versions tend to be. That said, however, the side of poutine was extremely disappointing. It was nice that it's vegetarian friendly, but even though they use what appeared to be proper curd it just didn't hit the spot. It was more like gravy fries with cheese. (If you haven't had proper poutine I guess that doesn't convey much, but trust me, it was lacklustre.) The atmosphere is super laid back, and if you love going to live shows the decor consists primarily of old concert flyers. The service was also very responsive (although it was during a bit of a lull; I can't speak to service at peak hours). Their drink selection is fine for a place with "Café" in the title; rotating taps with local brews, etc. Totally neutral marks on that.

Brianm ..

Yelp
Frankly I really expected something that would set The Cannibal Cafe' apart from other carnivore hot spots but I could not... food wise. Ya if ya count absolutely the freshest bun to top a burger with, then that's all I got. My 'American Classic burger' was cheesy good but a typical burger leaning towards tame contrary to it's home. Let's talk about the very cool restaurant decor and vibe...the best tunes, perfect volume (loud) and such a real mirror of this stretch of town we love to call home. Love how this rebellious and somewhat gritty Vancouver nosh-squat feels. The Cannibal Cafe' is a quaint modest,on the darker side, eatery with a casual flow throughout. Julie O was on point with warm attentive service. Cannibal Cafe' is a clean neighborhood cafe' pouring strong, rich coffee. Overall food for me was under-seasoned and cooked rushedly. If the hash browns were prepped with more consistent knife skills they would've been evenly cooked rather than some slices overcooked and others barely edible. JS. Btw: Whatever seasoning used on the hash browns was really flavourful would've loved to have had more of that $#/t sprinkled all over them hash browns even if they were not so good...if the potatoes were fully cooked they would've stole the show. NB: I tried to get fries b4 2 pm...don't bother as u can't get fries until 2pm? The Cannibal Cafe' reminds of a familiar haunt with gr8 specials and a zen that welcomes you to 'chill a bit' married with a wee touch of angst and a pinch of anarchy. Lotsa brews and huge LEDs tvs. Looking forward to the next visit to see if I can find something more 'Cannibal'- like to see what I missed...Somehow I think I missed the mark on what I choose to order here. Update pending... Anywho... U should go... Appy Trails Amigo... Brianm foodieatlarge.yelp.ca

Yelp
HAIRS!!! Oh goodness me, there were hairs in the pancakes and the eggs benny alike! On the good side, the staff was so cool. Very welcoming. The hockey was very Canadian. But, we did not enjoy the beverages: iced tea (Nestea) and orange juice (with ice). Food was good just worried about the HAIR.

Pia E.

Yelp
Very creative menu: alcoholic ice cream floats, build you own pizza burger, la belle province burger Definitely a place to treat yourself to some greasy, high calorie foods Servers were friendly and helpful with extra tips re: menu choices

Kevin L.

Yelp
Best burgers in Vancouver, without a doubt. I've had basically every burger on the menu, and each one is delicious in their own way.

Edward L.

Yelp
Came here to get a nice burger. Parking is available on the side streets. The inside was a bit on the quiet side, but it was nice. The deal to get here is the $15 burger and beer combo on Sundays. It's not as cheap as the equivalent at the Cambie, but you are paying a bit more to be on the Drive. Guess this area is the Kitsilano of East Van, minus the water. And here, you get a salad with your combo. The Big Blue burger I had was actually quite satisfying. Special mention for the patties here - they're nice and thick. You have to squish the burger somewhat to fit it in your mouth. The fries were decent but nothing special. For beer I had the Parallel 49 Seedspitter (watermelon). It's kinda neat to try, but I really wish the watermelon was stronger. The salad was decent. Will be back again at some point. On a Sunday, of course.

Yelp
We came here for a weekday lunch experience and it far exceeded our expectations of the 3.5 star reviews on yelp. From the Cookies 'n Cream Milkshakes to the Big Blue and the Slammin Salmon, to the super friendly service. Everything came out perfectly delicious. And the kids menu is a plus! We will be back.

Yelp
Came here to dine out with one of my long time no see friend, and we both are burger lovers, so we decided to come here. Because I already had normal beef burgers 2 days in a row, I decided to try their Ahi Tuna Burger which is highly recommended by the waitress. To my disappointment, their ahi-tuna burger is over-cooked. the tuna in the middle should be seared rare instead of fully-cooked. I mentioned to the waitress, she said sorry but didn't do anything about it.

Yelp
Unfortunately, living in the Commercial Drive area, I cannot give an unqualified thumbs up to this place. It's just not one of those local establishments you look forward returning to - it's currently taken me just over a year to get back. Looking back to my last visit, I had the same "Big Blue" burger, but this time around, it just didn't cut it. The bun was dry, the burger was overcooked and lacked seasoning, and the blue cheese's existence was questionable. And it's $2 more than a year ago. Add in $2.95 for a side of soggy fries with those infuriating little bits, and we're clicking in at around $18! For a mediocre burger at best! Not recommended! The beer selection has a few bright lights, but best to avoid the "new" Cannibal Lager... our server informed us it's made by Labatts or Molsons. Beers are the usual $7 to $8 - nothing special. The wings for $7 per pound on Wednesdays are a decent deal - we both enjoyed our Dill Wings. That said, their regular price of $13.95 puts them back into the grey zone. It's going to take a lot more than the friendly service to get me back to this place again. Judging by the empty lunchtime tables, others share this sentiment. Average at best...

Yelp
Thanks to Natalie, for inviting our group back to try their burgers! Last time, they were down a few people so there were a few bottlenecks, but service was smooth sailing last night. It was wings Wednesday ($5 / 8-10 wings), so we tried their Black Dragon wings (soy sauce, sriracha), which were pretty good.. I really liked their Cannibal Fries, which is pretty much a version of In-n-Out's Animal Style fries: cheese, special sauce, sauteed onions, and 2 burger patties on fries. Its a heartattack on a plate, but it was good! It was a pretty big plate so everyone dug in and tried it out. My turkey burger was really good, it didn't feel to heavy / greasy but still hit the spot! I liked my burger, but I wish I ordered the Parmageddon (burger of the month) instead - spicy deep fried chicken breast, with cheese, marinara sauce, veg. Thanks again for a nice night out!

Yelp
Came here to rid that burger crave! Cannibal Cafe did the trick! Ordered a classic American and the blue cheese burger. Washed it down with a 7.95 $ pint of orange creamsicle milkeshake. Great burgers larger than pictures can show. Fries are cooked to perfection. However, slightly greasy and the prices is slightly high. Hits my top 10 burger joints in vancouver. check it out however the price is on the high side for burgers.

Yelp
After our large-party slow-burger disaster last time at The Cannibal Café, management invited us back for a re-do. Only 8 persons from our original party could make it this time, but for the persons who showed up, The Cannibal Café let us have our food (but not alcoholic drinks) free. Honestly, I thought we'd just all get a free burger, so some of us went ahead and ordered an appy to share. But holy moly, they gave those to use for free as well. So, BIG DISCLAIMER -- I paid $5 for my order (as tip) and I got to try some appetizers other people ordered. Maybe because we were a smaller group, our burgers came in a timely fashion this time. Mine was dead last and they made a point of reassuring me that it was coming shortly (and it did). So, service seemed normal this time. Diablo Jalapenos ($9.95) Battered jalapenos stuffed with Manchengo cheese, served with a side of smokey red pepper mayo -Despite "diablo" in the name, if you're looking for anything spicy-hot here, it's a waste of time. -Cheese doesn't harden as quickly as mozzarella, so you don't have to rush and swallow a mouthful of lava just to have fun melted cheese. -Definitely use the mayo. -Even so, this was only so-so and I think there were only 5 fritters, working out to about $2 per jalapeno. Cannibal Fries ($11.95) Hand cut fries, two 3oz patties, American cheese & shredded cheddar, Cannibal sauce, carmelized onions -Get this instead of a burger -- serioulsy. It's cheaper, plus you're not missing on much meat, plus all those fries are filling. -Really nice touch with the caramelized onion. That and/or the special Cannibal sauce added a nice sweetness to the sauce for the fries making this tasty and a hit with your table. -Don't even bother with the tomato sauce provided (which was therefore wasted, so maybe ask for the bottle instead of the pre-portioned amounts and use only when necessary). Cannibal Wings ($10.95) A full pound of hot, S&P, BBQ or Black Dragon wings -Get these on Wing Wednesdays for a discount! -Decent sized wings and drumsticks. Not super-tiny and bony. -We tried "Black Dragon" and I really liked it. Slight spicy-heat in the not-too-honey-sweet black sauce. You can safely pass on the sauce they give you. Burger of the Month - Parmegedon ($14.95) crispy chicken, marinara, lettuce, basil, tomato, provolone, parmesan, garlic mayo, picked jalapeno on the side -Felt like there was a smallish and negligible portion of everything except chicken and a passable slice of tomato. So it felt like you were just eating fried chicken in a (really tender and nice) bun. -Generous slab of chicken. -Chicken was totally ace. White meat. Not dry or tough and definitely moist enough. Really crispy on the outside and not too salty. -The Cannibal Café should totally consider selling this chicken separately. -It's sort of pricey to pay $14.95 for a slab of deep fried chicken with no sides. I totally forgot to get my Yelp check-in freebie, which was a free side of fries. You only get this offer if you order a burger, not just any order (the Yelp check-in doesn't really specify burger-only). There is guest wifi, but our server warned that it wouldn't work well, and it didn't. She offered the staff wifi password, and the staff wifi worked much better. If you like neither option, head up the street to Starbucks to mooch their wifi.

Yelp
This place is great! We went on a Sunday afternoon and they had double Caesars for $7! And happy hour food including fries and amazing onion rings! The servers where fun and friendly! The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because it is a little more pricey on a non happy hour. Will be back for the happy hour!

Yelp
I have had many good experiences at Cannibal Cafe. Im kinda surprised by some of the bad reviews, especially the ones that mention White Spot burgers lol... Fast food burgers are in a different playing field. Cannibal grinds their own meat in house. That is why it is more expensive. The name of the restaurant comes from a punk song so the decor and the vibe of the place are fitting. If you want generic restaurant service and food then maybe you would be happier at McDonald's or White Spot :P

Yelp
SUCH. GOOD. FOOD! Phenomenal burgers, and you can pair it with a side of Mac and cheese.... That's a win for me right there. But if that wasn't enough for you they have endless comfort foods at your becking call. My mouth is watering so I think I need to end this review. Go to cannibal cafe. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Short version: cool wall decor, mediocre food, cranky waitress. I walked into this joint thinking 'I like the dim, casual feel of this place...and look, there are so many things to look at on the walls!' Sadly, things plateaued once our food arrived. I had their classic American Burger and everything from the bread to the patty tasted quite average. My side of poutine wasn't great; the gravy was too salty (I am hosing down water still as I type, and I've had a lot of salty Chinese food in my day) and the fries were cooked in old oil. My friend's Big Blue burger tasted essentially like my burger with some blue cheese in it. His side of mac n' cheese tasted pretty delicious with a smokey flavour, but if you're looking for the stuff with lots of real cheese, this might not be suited for you. Our waitress let out a sigh and got snappy with us for asking to have the bill split into two, and lectured us about how we should have told her in advance because apparently bills are difficult to divide by two. All in all, it's a decent casual place to have a casual meal after a long work day. I would suggest going on Milkshake Mondays for the free shake. ;)

Yelp
A group of my friends and I have been meaning to try this cafe for sometime and finally had the chance yesterday. We arrived just after 4 and it was already quite busy at the front! You wait to be seated and staff are super friendly! They have some pretty decent beer(pilsner, ipa etc). They have a special for 5$ food and appies. It got super busy at around 5 and they forgot some fries and a one of my friends drinks. Overall one of my favourite places for a veggie burger and deep friend pickles! This is the place for a greasy meal! Will be back :)

Yelp
Must say the food was less than acceptable. A freind took me there and we shared some sort of French fries with lots of crap on it and wings. Spend most of the night in the washroom later!! My freind said he also did. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
*Wanting hot water and doing the Dine Out Vancouver menu? Get ready to pay $1.25!* My husband and I went to The Cannibal Cafe today. I ordered from the Dine Out Vancouver menu and he from the regular menu. When the bill came, I saw that we were charged $1.25 for the two hot waters we ordered. I asked the server, "You charge for hot water?" She said in a nonchalant manner, "Yeah, we do." The issue is that when I reviewed The Cannibal Cafe's drinks menu online prior to coming to the restaurant, it did not indicate that hot water was an extra charge. I sounded off on Twitter about this, and The Cannibal Cafe responded by saying that on the BACK of the Dine Out Vancouver menu handout it indicated that hot water was $1.25. This suggests that only Dine Out Vancouver customers would be charged $1.25 for hot water. I feel like a second-class citizen. Then again, why were we charged TWO hot waters since my husband ordered only from the regular menu? Via Twitter, the Cannibal Cafe said, "Come back and I'll give you $2.50 back!!" I think they need help in the customer service department. They're practically throwing change at me. Is this how you treat customers? Why do Dine Out customers need to pay differently for drinks? The servers did not seem that friendly to me. I won't come back to The Cannibal Cafe and I won't recommend it. This was an overall disastrous Dine Out Vancouver experience.

Yelp
Fun and casual atmosphere - greasy hamburger diner right on the main road. I had a specialty burger with fries and was seated quickly and attentively. Decent quality and price overall. Good spot for lunch and people watching if you sit at one of the booths/tables near the entrance.

Yelp
Good dine out Vancouver menu!!! I love burgers I mean who doesn't? When I saw that they have a dine out menu my husband and I went to try it out. I made reservations but we didn't need it, we came at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. But bonus they take reservations!!! We sat near the front in a cute booth. This place is super cool with old flyers on the wall across a large bar, it looks small but its pretty long restaurant. But I can see this place being really packed and busy. Dine out menu included 1) Wings, salad or Bolognese poutine. 2) Jr American Classic burger, King Kahuna burger ( Tuna ), or Turkey Shrooomer. 3) Trif-urger (trifle) or A wee pint Guinness mousse I choose.... Bolognese poutine, at first I hesitated I really enjoy traditional poutine, but what the heck lets give it a try. To my surprise it was really nice the the fries itself was nicely seasoned and the Bolognese sauce was yummy. I love burgers so no brainer here the Jr American Classic was my pick!!! It was cooked well the only complain I have is that the brioche bun was too big for the "Jr" size burger and I wish I added bacon (what was I thinking??!!!) and I loved the pickles!!!! For dessert I had the trifle it was good nothing special. But I did have a chocolate milkshake omg yummy!!!! That was the cherry on top! A must if you come here. The service was great, we arrived in time before the rush. Overall I had a good experience. I will defiantly come back to try their monthly burgers.
