The Bower House at Canopy Tree Houses is a remarkable, pole-built house with beautiful views and surroundings. The property is extensive, and there are trails through the forest to explore. ||The house itself is looking a little tired. Around the base of the trim around the downstairs shower is black with mold, there are holes in the walls that need patching and painting, and all the beds creak like antiques. The hand soap, bubble bath, and dish washing liquid were all empty or very close to empty upon arrival and after asking for a refill, took over 24 hours to be supplied. ||These flaws can be overlooked, but what can't be is the lack of hospitality from the hosts/staff. One day the power went out, so we called the reception, and we were told their power was out too, not to worry etc. The problem is the house requires electric power to pump water to the taps and toilets, so from about 8:30 a.m. to mid afternoon (over 6 hours), our party of 6 couldn't get a drink or flush the toilets. The houses are quite remote with no potable water or toilet facilities nearby. From that point, nobody at reception answered the phone or email for over 4 hours, while we were without drinking water, flushing toilets, the ability to wash our hands, and our food was spoiling in the fridge. Eventually, we drove to reception to get some water and explain our predicament. The attitude of the man there was that we were all in the same boat and there was nothing he could or would do. I pointed out I was paying $400 dollars per night to be in a house with no toilet or water, so we were not in fact in the same boat. He then agreed to go and get some water for us to use. The water still took a few hours to show up, and not long later the power came back on after 6 hours being off.||We did a quick Google of the local power company, and, it turns out, it was scheduled maintenance of the local power grid that caused the outage. Businesses would have been notified (according to the supplier website) at least 5 days in advance of the outage. For Canopy Treehouses not to notify us of the outage and come up with a plan to mitigate it seems like a dereliction of duty to their guests, and their attitude when being called out about this was pathetic. At the very least, when we advised we were without sanitary facilities and drinking water at 8:30 am, water should have been immediately provided.||Airbnb agreed that Canopy Treehouses failed in their duty to provide basic amenities and gave us a refund for a nights’ stay. ||Based on our experience, I cannot recommend staying here. Should the Canopy Treehouses ever come under new management, or current management takes their responsibility as a host seriously, I'm sure it would be an excellent place to stay.||P.S. no wifi seems a bit cheap
