The Capaldi Hotel & Spa, Lalla Takerkoust, Atlas Mountains, Morocco - Explore & Book

"Imagine you have a best friend with a fabulous country home: spacious guest quarters with super-kingsize beds and fireplaces, fresh flowers and a stack of good books by your pillow, landscaped gardens with expansive views, and plenty of places to hide away. That’s exactly what Ed and Tara Lyle envisioned when they created The Capaldi Hotel & Spa, set in the grounds of a 4-hectare former olive farm in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, a 35-minute drive from Marrakech and its airport.Their version comes fully loaded: 23 Moroccan-Zen rooms and suites (plus 2 private villas) in a resort-style oasis, with 2 pools, a spa, a lantern-lit roof terrace, exceptional cuisine from a chef who embraces your preferences - and of course the warm hospitality you’d expect as guests of fortunate friends. Global travellers who fell under Morocco’s spell, the Lyles are fun and attentive hosts, orchestrating activities, fetching blankets on chilly evenings, and sending you off on explorations with a picnic lunch. It’s a wonderfully relaxing and romantic way to experience the Moroccan countryside, and the perfect complement to a few days at their Marrakech riad. Highs Accessible luxury, with rooms and suites to suit all budgets (most with terraces and some with private pools)Charming and unpretentious hosts who bend over backwards to make your stay perfect but also respect your privacyYear-round amenities - one of the pools is heated, and there’s a library, a spa, cosy salons, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, even a cinemaSuperb international cuisine that draws residents of Marrakech out to the restaurantClose to a diverse set of adventures, including watersports on Lake Lalla Takerkoust, dune-buggy excursions and camel rides in the Agafay Desert, and guided treks in the mountains Lows No children under 12 - this is very much a hotel for couples and honeymoonersNo in-room TVs, although the cinema has a big screen for watching films and sportsThere are 3 lakeside restaurants within a 45-minute walking distance, which may be too far for some, but an organic farm serving food is a little closer" - Joyce Copeland

A beautiful hotel with incredible grounds. Located just 45 minutes from Marrakech it's another world in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. |The suites are spacious; the restaurant is excellent; 2 pools and little alcoves if you want to stay out of the sun. Also, there are comfortable chairs set up around the property. It is just heavenly.|But, the best part of The Capaldi is the manager, Carole. I cannot say enough about her. She meets and greets you on arrival, she talks to every guest and she is the heartbeat of this hotel. She heard it was our anniversary on the day we arrived and when we came to the restaurant there was a special table set up at the pool with decorations and it was really so lovely. I must also say that the staff is also fantastic.|We loved The Capaldi.

I have just had a 5 day break at The Capaldi hotel and it was heavenly. The location is quiet and majestically beautiful at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. The hotel itself is understated and classy…beautifully curated furnishings and decoration…but also cosy, homely and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful….the manager Carol is a joy!! I enjoyed one of the best spa treatments ever and highly recommend the hammam. If you are looking for nightlife and lots to do then The Capaldi isn’t for you….however if you want tranquility and peace with beautiful surroundings with the hassle and bustle of Marrakech only 30 minutes away then you will love it. I will be coming back in the spring!

My partner and I had an amazing stay at the Capaldi just over a week ago. It is a beautiful hotel. It has two stunning pools which are a great temperate with lots of sunbeds. The room was lovely and big with air con and a lovely bathroom. The grounds are large and when we went the hotel was really quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing break. There’s also a little library with lots of books and games to borrow. The food was also amazing, particularly in the evening when you can choose either a two or three course meal which was excellent value. The manager Carole is so so lovely and super helpful, as well as all of the staff at the Capaldi. There are things you can do from the hotel- we walked one day to a nearby beautiful lake and had a drink in a hotel overlooking it, and we also hired a local guide via the hotel for a half day hike which was amazing- we got to see lots of the mountains and local culture and the guide was excellent, would definitely recommend. We love travelling and rarely want to go back to the same place, but we will absolutely be returning here.

If there is a bad review for The Capaldi know only one thing it’s about that person not The Capaldi. In other hotels you are a number, in this hotel you are always a person who is cared for. The food is lovely, there’s something for most people, it’s not a tasting menu, it’s a true selection of thoughtful offerings. The staff are kind, there’s something treatments are lovely, the team from the owners Ed and Tara are woven into the fabric, not aloof, they make the effort and they care, not just about the hotel, but the community and environment. If people get their towels washed it’s because they are dirty, if you don’t want them washed leave them to dry in the sun and reuse them. This is a total down tools and relax holiday, every day greets you like a pleasure. And Carol the new manager, radiates warmth, hospitality and positivity. This place is a gift, walking through the doors never ceases to fill me with joy and certainty of a good trip, I have brought different friends, recommended clients, it’s always bliss!

We had a very lovely 6 night stay at this peaceful well appointed hotel with excellent attentive staff, very nice food, great location and quiet public areas. A particular call out to Carol the Manager who made a point of saying hello to all her guests both mornings and evenings that added to the warm welcome. Carol kindly arranged two day trips for us with excellent guides. Highly recommend.

Our stay at the Capaldi exceeded any of our expectations by far. Carol welcomed us and our dog warmly and was always available for us throughout our stay. The staff was wonderful, esp. Hamsa the waiter who kindly accommodated us with a smile. Hussein from the reception was also wonderful. The resort is spacious and the gardens are well groomed. The pools are clean and the decoration is tasteful throughout the entire resort. We dream of coming back to the Capaldi and can't thank them enough for the wonderful time we spent at this dreamy location.

Breathtakingly beautiful property with wonderful pools and gardens which are so peaceful and relaxing. Rooms are full of character and very comfortable and spacious . The restaurant and bar has really top quality food and wine and we enjoyed every meal immensely . |The hotel booked our airport transfers , arranged a morning hike and a trip to the medina . All were prompt and the drivers and guides were friendly and informative. We thoroughly recommend the hike and chance to share mint tea and home made bread in a Berber village, Tuesday is also market day in Amizmiz and this was unforgettable. |On our final day we had a relaxing massage and Hammam which was another unique and fun experience . |A special mention has to go to Carole, the hotel manager who is the full package - welcoming, friendly , hard working , a real team player and goes above and beyond for her guests and has a wonderful rapport with her incredible team . |We would return in a heartbeat and found it to be a 5 star experience at a really reasonable and affordable price.

Beautiful hotel. My teenage son and I stayed here for 4 nights after spending a week in a Riad in Marrakesh. It was the perfect way to end our holiday after the hussle and bustle of the city centre.||This place is just gorgeous. The grounds are maintained beautifully, the staff can’t do enough to help and it’s amazing value for money.||We visited in July, which is their ‘off season’ due to the temps being so high. It was between 38°c-45°c whilst we visited, but didn’t struggle with the heat at all. Plenty of shaded places to rest and eat. And the Air Con in the room was excellent. ||The hotel was very quiet because of the time of year and high temps, but if I were to visit again, I would go at the same time. It felt as though we had our own palace for a few days. ||Carole (manager) can’t do enough for you. By day 2 we felt like part of the family. They arranged day trips and taxis and just added the cost to the room bill. So effortless. ||The hotel pools are gorgeous and perfect for bathing in. The sun loungers have really thick mattresses and are so comfortable.||The hotel also has its own cinema, which definitely isn’t an afterthought. It really was very impressive. My son and I watched a film one evening and had the cinema to ourselves. A special experience.||The food was exceptional. A varied menu which changed everyday, and at a very high standard for really reasonable prices.||If you’re unsure about staying here, just do it. You won’t be disappointed.
