My Stay at 15 on Orange – Extremely Disappointing Experience
I stayed at 15 on Orange (The Capital) for two nights, and unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic hospitality ethics was shocking — especially considering the price being paid as a corporate customer.
Our organisation had booked around 12 units at this property during the Africa Com event. On the surface, the hotel appeared nice when I checked in, but that impression quickly changed after my first encounter with the staff the following morning.
I had simply requested at the reception if two additional guests could be accommodated for breakfast and whether the charges could be added to my bill. The receptionist’s response was unbelievably rude and dismissive. He kept repeating, “You have to pay upfront,” in a tone that was both disrespectful and unprofessional. I clearly mentioned that I would pay the full amount, yet he remained unapologetic and discourteous.
Later, there seemed to be unnecessary confusion between the restaurant and the reception team — something I still can’t understand — which just reflected poor internal communication and management.
But the worst part of my stay happened at night. I called for a bottle of water around 3 AM, and the staff arrived with a card machine asking for immediate payment. I politely requested that it be added to my final bill, as I would be settling everything together at checkout. However, to my shock, the next night at 12 midnight, they again came knocking on my door while I was asleep — demanding payment for that same water bottle. When I didn’t respond, they even called my room at 1 AM to ask for the payment.
This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and disgraceful in the hospitality industry. Waking up a guest at 1 AM for a minor bill — especially a corporate customer staying on a bulk booking of 12–15 rooms — is beyond comprehension.
Such an experience is pathetic and shameful for a hotel of this standard. I will never recommend this property to anyone and will be raising a serious concern with my organisation’s admin team to ensure no future corporate bookings are made at this hotel.
