The Captain of Aireys

Had a lovely dinner at The Captain of Aireys during our Great Ocean Road getaway. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, perfect for an evening by the coast. We were amazed by their Woodifred pizza — perfectly crisp base, smoky wood-fired flavor, and just the right balance of toppings. Simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I tried the Sweet Tate pizza and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly balanced flavors and cooked just right! The highlight of my visit, though, was the service. The lady who looked after us was amazing – friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. Great food and even better hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The wood fire pizza were delicious, whether as the main meal or dessert. They use fresh local ingredients. I highly recommend the Pepe pizza. The atmosphere is nice.

Just wow. Probably the best pizza dough I have ever had. The Captain only does pizzas, which is a stroke of genius because they do them incredibly well. We ordered the Veggies patch, Lemon and Garlic prawn and the Captain. They were all divine. Very fresh ingredients, prawns were large and cooked well. The ham was not overly salty and processed. The garlic and parmesan loaf was also delicious. Staff are just wonderful.

Fantastic pizza. Fresh, tasty and well seasoned. Great chew to the dough, sauce was excellent, great ingredients. Salad was also spot on. Lots of veggo options as well. Service was excellent and vibe in the restaurant was very nice. Highly recommended if you are passing through.

Probably the best wood fire pizza we've ever had. Ingredients were fresh and tastful while keeping the true traditional style of real Italian pizza alive. Lovely service by owners and great atmosphere. Our kids inhaled theirs and my wife and I wanted more. Well done and compliments to the chef. Will return and highly recommend.

Dec 24: Good reviews on Google and it didn’t disappoint. Staff were all smiles and the pizzas was lovely. But we won’t be back as we live in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 highly recommend ❤️

Wonderful service and a great feed. The toppings and base are great and well balanced. There is an inner dining room and then an enclosed outer space which can be opened up or closed and heated which also allows dogs. There is an outside area too. Parking is ok, but likely gets busy during peak times. Check out the specials as they're great too.

We paid for two 11inch pizzas and a small container of rocket, total $65! What a joke! $10 for a handful of rocket ! Worst pizza we have had in years . Save your money and buy a frozen one from Coles it would seriously be better. ZERO STARS DONT BOTHER.

Dropped in for an early quick Sunday dinner & we were very impressed. Prompt, friendly service & great pizzas. Lived up to the recommendations of locals!

We tried this place for a change, and glad we did - Aireys Inlet is known for it's lighthouse and the tea-shop nearby, but wanted to try something different for a more substantial meal. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the pizzas have interesting and very tasty variations on regular favourites. The "Pork 'n' Pear" pizza has a lovely mix of fior di latte and gorgonzola cheeses - lovely! There's plenty of side order options, as well as a kids menu too... A lovely little spot to stop off for a break if touring the Great Ocean Road or even if staying nearby - especially if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of more touristy places like Lorne.

Amazing place on the coast! My husband & I were driving past on our way to Apollo Bay & saw this little place. I'm an Aussie & he's a New Yorker and I have to say, this pizza rival's the pizza I've eaten in NYC since I've lived there for the past 7 years. There salads are fresh & unique & yummy & they have great coffee & local ice-cream to finish the meal. Wonderful service also from the young couple that own it. He's the chef & she's front of house & together they're the perfect team. Check out The Captain. Seriously. You won't be disappointed!!
