"El Galeón del Caribe Even though it’s right across the street from top Cancún resorts near the southern end of the Hotel Zone, the entrance to this open-air restaurant remains known only to locals plus a few in-the-know travelers. Walk down the wooden staircase to find a dirt floor, a palapa roof, and tranquil lagoon views, plus affordable Caribbean seafood dishes prepared in an outdoor kitchen. You’ll also get traditional comfort food like ceviche and garlic shrimp, along with a selection of Mexican beers, but the highlight is the hot and fresh pescadillas , shredded fish in pan-fried tortillas."

Such a gem! Authentic Mexican food with great sunset lagoon view. We had guacamole, shrimp ceviche and pescadillas (fried fish tacos). Best food we’ve found so far in Cancun. Most places we’ve tried are overpriced with poor quality. This place was reasonably priced and delicious. We’ll be back for sure!

Nice restaurant right by the water. We got both Fillets. Recommend the Breaded Fillet! We also got the pescadillas--sauce was good and spicy. The fried dessert was also really good!

Very nice place with good food. Service was ok but our waiter didn’t take the other from all of us and just left, that was strange. You can pay only in cash.

Hidden gem, for me those unadvertised restaurants are the best to really experience the authentic food of the locals, no big promo sign in front, no hailing and harrassing you to go in, no inflated price, no bull shit! just pure good food and local ambiance. The menu is simple you can see they are not messing around they have their specialties and for me its perfect like that when i want to eat what the local eat and love. So i feel very Lucky to have found that in the Hotel Zone of all places. My Favorite was really their fish tacos Not expensive you can just order a bunch with some pico de gallo and maybe guacamole with a drink and be content with that. The dining room place was just beside the lagoon very relaxing and chill while eating

This might well be the only truly authentic restaurant in or around Cancun. It's NOT built of concrete; it's basically a shack right on the waterside on the other side of the lagoon from downtown Cancun. The kitchen is mega-basic, but the output is good. Only disappointment is that they insist on deep frying fresh fish. "A la plancha" would be so much better.

The food is tasty and inexpensive. However, there are some hygiene issues. There are some bugs, and the tables aren’t very clean.

A Hidden Gem by the Lagoon The Caribbean Galleon in Cancún is a charming spot tucked right by the lagoon, offering beautiful views and a relaxed outdoor dining experience that still feels comfortable and welcoming. From start to finish, the service was warm and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the fried red snapper and fish tacos—both were flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and genuinely seemed to care about making our experience enjoyable For the quality of food and the setting, the pricing is very reasonable. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid-back yet memorable meal in Cancún. Great food, great vibes, and a view that’s hard to beat

Wonderful hidden gem. Wait staff was extremely friendly and efficient. Food was delicious and fresh. We ordered the fried whole fish and they even let us picked which fish we wanted to eat. The fried fish tacos were good too. Their hot sauce was definitely spicy! Warning: Cash Only!
