Nice atmosphere, staff were friendly, and restaurant clean. Calamari was decent but I didn't care for the bacon flavored sauce. Shrimp and grits were flavorful. Stuffed grouper: Best seasoned asparagus ever! Grouper was cooked well. Hush puppies had a great flavor but dry. Could use some sauce with it. I would recommend this restaurant.

Solo diner, I sat at the bar. Nicki was great. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of Brussels. The brussels were nicely charred and well flavored. I don't typically even like hush puppies, but these were light and fluffy, fried but not greasy really well done. For the shrimp and grits, the grit cake was flavored nicely and the shrimp were perfectly cooked which can be hard for a kitchen to do correctly. Unfortunately, the gravy was super salty, not horrible enough to return the dish but right on the border. I spoke with both Nicki and the chef. Apparently this is a known issue with one of the line cooks. The chef said if I come back I should ask for him to make the dish. I appreciate the sentiment, but would suggest the better solution is to manage the real issue in the kitchen and if nothing else implement quality control on the dishes coming out of the kitchen. Another bigger issue, I had a gift card & I'd expected to be able to leave my tip using the card, unless the tip is added before the check is closed. I was lucky that I had some cash, but I always have concerns when an organization isn't making sure that their employees are top priority & taken care of.

Great food, very good selection of draft beers, and nice decor. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but give it a try! The Brussels sprouts are simply amazing. Get them and you won’t be sorry. Liked the food here so much I came back a second time!

Google
The food was delicious! I had the Rockefeller oysters as an appetizer, I ordered the crab cakes with sautéed vegetables and the Chipotle gouda grits! All my food was cooked to perfection! My waitress Taylor was great! Only thing it was missing as possibly some music. I definitely recommend and will return!

So, while working in Albany it was suggested that I check this place out. While unassuming on the exterior, the interior is what matters. Our server at the bar was nice, attentive and quick. The atmosphere was giving "Myrtle Beach or FL beach restaurant vibes!" The food was better than average. The fried crab claws and lump crab cakes were 👌🏽The Warden had blackened snapper. I had the "special," grilled Mahi with cherry maple glaze. There was a full service bar and their prices are reasonable. We'd DEFINITELY return!!!

Google
If in Albany, Georgia, you must give this place a try. Doesn’t look like much on the outside but ever nice inside. Nikki was wonderful, very attentive. And the food was wonderful too. Shrimp and grits was some of the best I’ve ever had. The ahi tuna was perfect. Hush puppies were just right for this Southern girl. I highly recommend you give this place a try!!!

Yelp
I'm so disappointed in my meal this afternoon. My only wish for my 52nd birthday was to eat dinner here. The waitress was excellent! We started with appetizers: crab claws fried, salmon bites and fried green tomatoes. The crab claws were spoiled and smelled horrible. The other 2 appetizers were EXCELLENT! My daughter had the fried shrimp with fries that were piping hot and she really enjoyed. My husband had the snapper with cold mashed potatoes but the grit cake was enjoyable while the fish was over salty. I had the pecan crusted sea bass with cold grits and cold sweet potato soufflé. The fish was lukewarm and not crusted but had candied pecans on top. My bill was over $180 with tip. I love great food and do not mind paying top dollar for it. Yelp
I know pickings in Albany are slim but this place needs improvement. Crab cakes are too salty and small. Fried green tomatoes were flavorless and oily. Lobster egg roll didn't work. The Gouda grits were horrendous. The texture was like gloopy wallpaper paste. The sweet potato soufflé was awful - weird texture and bland. Without the candied pecans it wouldn't be edible. The crab stuffed grouper and ahi tuna were pretty good though. And the honey butter Brussels sprouts were nice.

Yelp
I love the catch, everything about it, I even had my wedding party meet and greet there on the other side you can rent out. Wife and I came last night, ordered our usual lobster egg rolls and crab cakes for appetizers. I saw the jerk salmon and shrimp, tried it and it needs to be seasoned with jerk instead of some sauce or glaze over the salmon. Plantains were great

Amy C.

Yelp
We just had another fabulous meal at The Catch. My husband got fried red snapper. Our lemon pepper shrimp appetizer was awesome. The special was quail. It was melt in your mouth delicious. It was cooked in a brown butter honey mixture that was SO good. The quail tastes similar to chicken but better.

Dan S.

Yelp
Always a pleasure eating here when in town. Oysters and grilled grouper were amazing. Great service as well

Dan F.

Yelp
Great spot! Don't let the exterior fool you. Nice variety of seafood and southern side dishes. Fast, friendly service. Great food. Professional staff. We're in from out of town but will be back Soon!!

Yelp
I had an amazing evening with me and some friends for Valentine's Day and even with a large party we were treated very well and had excellent service the owner also came to check in on us and was very respectful I ordered the Lobster Egg Rolls, and Shrimp Bucktown Entree which was sooo delicious! When I tell you the shrimp bucktown was so creamy and perfect. Chefs Kiss

John S.

Yelp
Food is usually delicious but the tin ceiling makes it hard to hear table conversation. It helps is you have a table on one of the porches. The oysters are usually excellent.

Yelp
My husband and I went here a few nights ago and I was pleasantly surprised. Food was great and the drinks were phenomenal! Our waitress was so helpful and friendly. Her name was maybe Pria? Any, she was great.

Anna P.

Yelp
Meals and service are amazing! If you go make sure to have a slice of their blueberry cake! It is phenominal!!!

Cynthia M.

Yelp
This was a busy evening but I received friendly service from the hostess and the waitress. I had the shrimp dinner - I tried poached and grilled combo. Both were very flavorful. The poached brought out the flavor of the fresh shrimp which paired well with the spicy cocktail sauce. The honey butter brussel sprouts were tasty with the honey butter toning down the cabbage flavor. More items on the menu looked interesting so I will definitely be back to sample.overall a clean and interesting place to have dinner.

Frank H.

Yelp
Food terrible and over price. Fried catfish , lobster roll two lobster roll was fifteen dollars

Bruce D.

Yelp
Another great dinner with probably one of the best waitresses we have had over the years we have dinning here! Nikki gave us great service and fixed drinks for our table. I hope someone at The Catch will acknowledge her as a valuable employee!

Yelp
Was traveling from out of town and a local recommended the harvest moon. They were crowded so I came to the Catch. Looked up the menu while I was on the parking lot. Ordered the crab cakes and a pizza. Crab cakes were very small. Menu said jalapeño relish but there was nothing jalapeño about the relish. Just corn and remoulade sauce. Online they were $13. On my bill they were $18. A Bar patron told me they had another menu so bartender passed me a harvest moon menu. I waited 45 minutes for a small pizza brought out in a large to go box on a pizza pan. Used the pizza pan as a plate. Didn't ask for it to go but it came in a box. I felt awkward eating out of a box at a restaurant with white paper on the tables. Pizza was $13 on the menu but was $15 on the bill. Inquired and bartender adjusted. There was also a $1.95 charge on the bill. I called back and inquired to the manager Brian. He was very polite but offered an excuse for every concern that I had. I told him if next door charges $1.95 for food to be brought over then let the customer know. How was I to know you charge to go next door and get food. He also said the prices on the website were the same as in the restaurant. Not true! Of course locals may know that but you should never assume a customer knows. So basically I was overcharged $10. I called the manager before leaving a review but felt like he just waited for me to pause between issues in order to offer an excuse. Pizza was good but had to try hard to cut crust with a knife. Other guests food looked amazing. Not all guests are engaged the same way either. I would probably recommend with caution if you're not a regular.

Yelp
It's a pretty good spot for eating oysters and drinking wine. The staff are always super nice and helpful.

Lori A.

Yelp
Great oysters and fantastic server by the name of Paige! Very fast and quick seating Only complaint is the grease in the dish with the scallops Hush puppies were ok The oysters on the half shell are wonderful

Chris G.

Yelp
Best place in Albany, was expecting gulf oysters but they had Canadian. Didn't try them but they looked good. Staff was friendly and helpful. The shrimp and grits were good but the grits were a little dry and over done. All in all good place for dinner in Albany highly recommend.

Michael V.

Yelp
A really neat place great staff and the food was delicious. I brought a busload of people hair for a birthday party and I found a neat little place to take people to. Sort of hard to find but all the locals know about this place. Thanks Limo Mike

Mary Grace G.

Yelp
This place is amazing! We had a great server named Bert, who was incredibly helpful at giving us recommendations! I had the grilled catfish and gator tail, along with a side of the sautéed veggies. All delicious. Somewhat pricey but definitely worth it. I went back a week later and ordered the same thing, this time with asparagus. Delicious!

Richard F.

Yelp
Great casual meal, balanced menu with friendly service.

Black D.

Yelp
I got the "Shrimp & Grits" but my grits were disgusting. If you don't like your grits fried , this place is not for you .

Bud K.

Yelp
Best place in Albany. Great food. Haven't had a bad meal there , great choose also enjoyable choose. It's a just try place ! Had the shrimp bucktown was the best.

Mike H.

Yelp
It's pricey, but unlike a lot of other expensive places in town, it's actually worth it. There's not a better steak anywhere around and the atmosphere is very nice as well. Great ambiance.

Mandee W.

Yelp
Biff is the best server we've had in a while! His recommendations were spot on. We had the lobster egg rolls with chili Thai sauce... so good! The greens were the best part of the meal! Grilled catfish, scallops, blackened gator tail, grouper, white cheddar grits, hush puppies, all were delicious. 10/10 would recommend!

Hunter P.

Yelp
Best seafood in Southwest Georgia! If you're in Albany and looking for a great dinner spot you have to try it out!

Robynne Y.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! Just rolled into town super hungry, driving for more than 7 hours and this place just hit "every spot". Everything was delish (blackened salmon, grilled veggies, lump crab cakes, fried pickles...yea I was hungry for real!) but the chipotle gouda grits are a MUST TRY! Our waitress, Paige, was so good....personable and attentive. I'll definitely be back a few more times before I leave town. *Only thing that missed a star was my drink...it was supposed to be a mai tai but not really sure what it was. Tasty and did the trick but different from my usual mai tai.*

Art D.

Yelp
Overall not a bad place to dine. Parking was easy; however, we were the first customers for dinner. Not a fancy spot but the food was good. I had the salmon and it was very tasty. I did not have desert nor pick up the bill so can't tell you exactly how much it was. It appeared to be a local spot with a lot of locals. Services was good and the food did not take long to arrive at our table. Overall it is worth another visit should I visit Albany again. Eye-candy would be a negative.

Davina P.

Yelp
Without a doubt, The Catch is my favorite restaurant in Albany. Oysters were delicious baked and raw. Lobster egg rolls were tasty but I didn't taste or see any lobster meat in it at all. The lobster should have been the star of this dish, disappointing. The Calamari Rings are one of my favorite appetizers. They're crispy with just the right amount of saltiness and the dipping sauce is delicious. Grit cakes with shrimp, grouper, and scallops in a cream sauce with spinach and mushrooms were great. All the seafood was cooked perfectly. The seared ahi was not as fresh as I'm used to having. The texture was off because it was previously frozen. The blueberry cake is the best dessert on the menu. It's super moist and the icing is so creamy. I wish I had the recipe. The service here is always on point.

Doris M.

Yelp
Service was prompt and friendly. Catfish was good tho a bit bland for "fresh catch". Grits were good and the Hush puppies were great!

Linda D.

Yelp
We ordered the Seared Tuna( they do it right) and Blackened Grouper Fingers . Perfectly cooked and served. The Shrimp and Grits were served very dry and not even close to how delicious it normally is. The Pan Seared Crusted Grouper was fantastic! Bethany was an excellent server. We wanted for nothing and she did correct the Shrimp and Grits issue.

Carol S.

Yelp
We had a great experience from beginning to end at The Catch. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess. Our waitress was great. Yummy margarita. Dinner was delicious - fabulous crab cakes and grilled salmon with sauteed vegetables. Dessert of key lime pie was sublime.

La Juania M.

Yelp
Ever time I'm in Albany I stop by this place. Is you want good fresh seafood this is the place. They have great food. Love all the types of grits!!

Lilly W.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants! Their grouper and lobster egg rolls are my go tos! Awesome cocktails and great atmosphere.

Alissa M.

Yelp
Best dining establishment in Albany hands down, wish I had found this place sooner! Great service and food was very fresh and well prepared. Blackened ribeye was to die for

James T.

Yelp
A fantastic departure from a 5 day road trip of fried, southern, biscuited, gravy-laden and heart-attack inducing food. This place is a gem, a diamond even. From crisp and potent potables to the best steak I've had in months, from farm fresh vegetables to lively and sometimes over-shared waiter conversation; I would drive an hour out of my way on the next road trip to make sure I get to relive this experience , it's now one of my favorites. Please take the time to come here and share this with me and them, it is quite worthy of your time.

Kim P.

Yelp
This food is excellent! If you're not from here FYI there are brothers in this town that own this restaurant & a few others (harvest moon, Henry Campbell).. I personally like all of these restaurants.. but The Catch is PRICEY seafood, but all the food is fresh and AMAZING possibly the BEST meal I've had at a restaurant in Albany Ga. My husband agrees, we had salads, calamari, seared tuna & steak. Also, cool wall art!!!

Roosevelt W.

Yelp
Great seafood.. But the best experience is the service, Top Notch I must say.. If the experience is slacking in any area the waiter/waitress is so well train, you will dismiss or forget about it and still leave very satisfied

Madeline A.

Yelp
Great service! The steak isn't good enough to be priced that high. Drinks are strong but also overpriced. I liked the crab cakes but they do coke with a sauce with a salsa like flavor and consistency I wasn't expecting.

Summer S.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised at the open, stylish clean interior and taste of our entrees. We had the charbroiled oysters which were nicely seasoned. He ordered the filet mignon which was tender, juicy and very flavorful! Better than some of the 5 star steakhouses we went to in FL. I had the smoked shrimp ravioli which was delectable. Meals were in small portions but we were pleasantly full. Didn't have room to try the dessert. Iced tea nicely flavored. Our waiter was Chandler who was friendly and accommodating.

Linda T.

Yelp
Great food in a friendly environment . Mary, the bar tender, was great with service and good recommendations. Loved the tuna and fired shrimp.

Darian S.

Yelp
The food is delicious, very friendly service, great beer/wine menu and the decor is cozy and nice. The prices are a little steep but you are paying for one of if not the best restaurants in Albany.

Christy E.

Yelp
Great place always a good crowd there so you know your in the right place! It's cozy with the small quaint fine dining aspect you would want any day of the week you went out on. The staff including management is extremely attentive and always recognizes returning clients! Great wine selection! I love when they have the king crab legs! The oysters are fantastic as well!

Rhonda H.

Yelp
Delicious food! I had the scallops grilled and chocolate mousse pie. Yum! Mitchell came out and talked with us which was awesome. Everyone there was so nice. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Rhoda P.

Yelp
Our first time at The Catch. My husband and I were pleasantly greeted and seated promptly. Kelsey, our server, was incredible! She explained thoroughly when we asked questions. We had the crab cakes and seafood dip for appetizers. Excellent! My husband ordered the oysters, shrimp and scallops for his entree and I ordered the catfish, shrimp and scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly. We were very pleased with the ambience, service and food.

Linda H.

Yelp
Food is just not worth the price or any price for that matter. Sent meal back. The sautéed veggies were good though.

Brian L.

Yelp
I was very dissatisfied with the food here. All the appetizers served were twice fried, and portions were way to small for the price. I have never tasted shrimp and grits with such lack of flavor and texture. Once I left the establishment, I felt physically I'll from all the grease. This is a place to be avoided.

Mike V.

Yelp
I've never been disappointed at The Catch. Both seafood and steaks are great. Had ribeye, roasted potatoes and salad this time. Steak was the correct temperature and flavorful. Sides were good, too. Service was top-notch. Highly recommended.

Karyn S.

Yelp
If you're looking for solid seafood restaurant with a friendly staff and warm, but rustic ambience then The Catch is your place. We're in town on business and was referred here by an Albany resident and I will say the place didn't disappoint. At our server's recommendation we ordered the shrimp stack, which can best be described as a delicious, deconstructed sushi roll. It was so good I told our server to ask the chef if this could be made into an entree. For my main dish I had a fried shrimp and oyster platter. It was great but I wish I had gone with they signature appetizer called The Catch Signature Oysters, which is broiled oysters on the half shell with panko breadcrumbs, smoked pepper relish, and pepper jack cheese. Sounds like heaven to me so I'll be sure to order it next time. Net-net: of you're ever in Albany and need a place for dinner definitely try The Catch.

Dr. G D.

Yelp
This is a popular and famous place. Why? Also I do not know who leaves all these positive reviews, fake reviews or if the bar is so low in Albany. All items are over priced, meager quantities. Gumbo is not gumbo but Campbell's soup from wally world. Very nice and friendly service. The Catch is good example why chain restaurants (olive garden etc.) are successful and locally owned places like the Catch are failures.
