One of the best places, in Central Iowa. The vibe is fantastic, especially, when live music is playing. I only have had one bad experience, at this place, which occurred today. I asked, with a smile on my face, if the bartender was “grumpy”. He disagreed he was grumpy. He closed my tab and did not allow me to give him (as well as his deserving and wonderful colleague) a tip. By the way, I directly gave her a tip. I am the grumpy one now. Lol. Pro tip: Be hesitant, before asking whether a bartender is grumpy!

Stopped by on a sleepy Sunday afternoon to pick up a few bottles. Highly curated selection. Very fair prices. Can’t go wrong with anything that you might find here. What a truly great hidden gem in downtown DSM! Drop in if you’re in the area.

The Cave DSM is probably one of my favorite spots in town. Their wine selection is unique and special…and their recommendations for what to try next are always so spot on. If you’re staying for a glass, the atmosphere is also great. Cozy and welcoming. The record player is always playing something excellent. The live music nights are such a vibe.

We found this place about a year ago, and it has become about a weekly stop for us. Their “natural” wine selections are always clever, thought out and always good! They also have great menu of bar snacks, annd the owner Nick’s inhouse/fresh baguettes are probably the best you’ll find in town. The decor/atmosphere is also very inviting a a bright Sunday Funday as well as an intimate evening date spot. We love the place so much we even had some of our family pictures taken there. La Cave!

A wonderful little cozy wine bar. With a great staff, the food is good, and the wine selection has some hidden gems you won't find anywhere else. The the background sound track is supplied though a excellent sound system with vinyl records. All this plus Live Jazz!

What a cute hidden spot for great wine in Des Moines! The owners were working and it wasn't too busy so they got to chat with us about their wine, and the are clearly passionate and knowledgeable about what they are doing. Every thing we ate and drank was good to very good. I love little gems like this place run by amazing friendly owners! And there really is something for everyone here.

The cave is an excellent local establishment specializing in natural wines, I had the pleasure of stopping in to try an "orange wine" today which was excellent. Nick, the owner, was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. He helped me make a selection from their impressive collection of worldwide natural wines. They have a nice varied menu with small bites and serve larger meals on Fridays as well. Additionally there is excellent live music often. If you're into natural wines, or just like wine, or even a cheese plate and some excellent jazz on vinyl, stop on in! I recently had the pleasure of revisiting. If anything the selection is larger, and my experience even better than before. Strongly recommended.

LOVE the Cave! We just had the most enjoyable afternoon there, listening to some Brazilian music! And we had a very nice cheese plate to nibble with wine that we can't find anywhere else in Des Moines. We'll be back!

Yelp
I love this spot for its casual yet upscale ambiance, and delicious Spanish tapas inspired menu! So impressed with the quality of ingredients and how friendly and knowledgeable the staff is. The live music is not something to sniff at either, real pros play here. I always get a bottle reco from the owner to bring home and enjoy.

Yelp
Such a great gem for DSM! Wine ranging from dry to dessert fruit wine and prices very affordable and competitive. I love the selection of natural wines and am excited to see them grow and open up the shop more for tastings and food! Definite visit for any vino!

Yelp
This place is awesome! The owners are super friendly and give great recommendations if you want to try something new but don't know where to start. They also have delicious small plates and charcuterie boards that are priced very well. You can drink by the glass or bottle in store or purchase bottles to take home. They even have live music on Fridays!
