The 7 Best Hostels in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"In the heart of multicultural Lavapiés, this new eco-friendly hostel impressed me with amenities including a games playroom, rooftop terrace with a splash pool, outdoor patio, and an on-site bar and restaurant; there’s a breakfast buffet each morning for €6.50. I found the dorm beds very comfy—pod-style cubicles that offer plenty of privacy with outlets, lights, lockers, curtains, and en-suite bathrooms—and there’s a female-only dorm as well. I listed it as both the Best Overall Hostel and the Best Hostel for Digital Nomads." - Matthew Kepnes

I had a great time staying at this hostel! The atmosphere was super friendly and welcoming — it was really easy to meet people and feel at home. Everything was clean and well-organized, and the common areas were comfortable to hang out in. The staff were amazing — very helpful, kind, and always available for any questions. The location was perfect, close to the main attractions and public transport. I would definitely come back and recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a nice and social place to stay!

Over priced, charge extra for everything. Luggage storage extortionate! Towel far overpriced. No self catering facilities. Ceiling in the bedroom wasn’t even finished. Staff coming into the room way early before any check out waking the room up. To say check in isn’t till 3 and check out 11! Unacceptable. The place was clean and the staff were good. Aside from being told that it costs them such a high price to have the towels cleaned. And they’re not making any money on the towels. That was insulting till I put him right and he eventually agreed. A bit arrogant to be honest. Anyways not impressed by all the extra charges especially given the price of the place. Wasn’t special enough to warrant the he price

We had a great stay here for a concert. It's near the metro so it was easy to go to and from the venue. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a fountain to refill your water bottle and it had cold water, great for a hot day in July. The common spaces are nice and spacious. We got the breakfast option. It had a lot of things to choose from and everything tasted good. The room and bathroom were nice and clean, and we didn't hear anything from other rooms.

Not been to too many hostels, but this probably takes the #1 spot. The lobby/gathering area is so spacious, open concept, seats all around, pple could easily mingle. A small courtyard in between 2 blocks of accom. Beds are clean and comfortable, curtains available for your own privacy and lights bright enough alongside the bed. Location-wise, really central to the few places i wanted to see, all within walking distance(or perhaps it was the location that selected the sights for me).

The location and infrastructure of hostel is not bad but it got diminished from the get go by the staff that is quite short and unhelpful. The first day we did not have a toilet as the door was broken and we had to use the public bar toilet in a different building. We let the staff know and they said "we're not going to call a technician on the weekend because it isn't an emergency". Ultimately they just removed the door and lock so we could use the toilet but not close the door which was better than no toilet

Wonderful staff, comfortable rooms, and great vibes! They give you a free drink voucher for the bar next door which was a pleasant surprise. They have laundry amenities, coffee downstairs, and bar crawls scheduled most nights of course. A nice balance between play and rest, so you don't have to go out if you don't want to. Would definitely consider visiting this hotel again next time 😊

I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights, and if Google Maps rates this hostel as two stars, I would give it all 5. Super comfortable (for its price) and clean rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, good lockers in the rooms for your luggage. The room (in my case, a female 4-Bed Female room) is cleaned every day. Transparent check-in and check-out, renting and staying policies. Very friendly staff, always ready to give advice, help or give a small talk about best places in Madrid (special thanks to the receptionist Edu). I felt super safe, super welcomed. Location is super friendly for visiting all important Madrid city centre landmarks for tourists :) I had incredible impressions from staying with them and will definitely come back to visit again. Thank you! 🫶

I was in the apartment and it was great, private, clean, quiet. The only thing that seemed puzzling to me was that in other hostels I had ordered taxi-van from the reception and regardless of whether it was a normal taxi or van, they always charged me €33 at the airport but there I was charged €38 for being van. It was the only weird thing, otherwise 10/10.
