The 7 Best Hostels in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"In the heart of multicultural Lavapiés, this new eco-friendly hostel impressed me with amenities including a games playroom, rooftop terrace with a splash pool, outdoor patio, and an on-site bar and restaurant; there’s a breakfast buffet each morning for €6.50. I found the dorm beds very comfy—pod-style cubicles that offer plenty of privacy with outlets, lights, lockers, curtains, and en-suite bathrooms—and there’s a female-only dorm as well. I listed it as both the Best Overall Hostel and the Best Hostel for Digital Nomads." - Matthew Kepnes

Wonderful staff, comfortable rooms, and great vibes! They give you a free drink voucher for the bar next door which was a pleasant surprise. They have laundry amenities, coffee downstairs, and bar crawls scheduled most nights of course. A nice balance between play and rest, so you don't have to go out if you don't want to. Would definitely consider visiting this hotel again next time 😊

I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights, and if Google Maps rates this hostel as two stars, I would give it all 5. Super comfortable (for its price) and clean rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, good lockers in the rooms for your luggage. The room (in my case, a female 4-Bed Female room) is cleaned every day. Transparent check-in and check-out, renting and staying policies. Very friendly staff, always ready to give advice, help or give a small talk about best places in Madrid (special thanks to the receptionist Edu). I felt super safe, super welcomed. Location is super friendly for visiting all important Madrid city centre landmarks for tourists :) I had incredible impressions from staying with them and will definitely come back to visit again. Thank you! 🫶

I stayed there for two nights. Let me start with the positives: the reception team is excellent, and the cleaning staff as well. The rooms are clean and air-conditioned. The location is close to the city center, tourist attractions, and the metro station. What I didn’t like was having to rent towels and buy a lock compared to other hostels. As for having the bathroom and toilet inside the room, that’s normal. Note: for light sleepers who cannot tolerate noise, I don’t recommend the shared rooms, no matter which ones. Overall, I give it 4/5

We had a great stay here for a concert. It's near the metro so it was easy to go to and from the venue. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a fountain to refill your water bottle and it had cold water, great for a hot day in July. The common spaces are nice and spacious. We got the breakfast option. It had a lot of things to choose from and everything tasted good. The room and bathroom were nice and clean, and we didn't hear anything from other rooms.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Rooms were very spacious and clean, with blinds for each of the beds, giving us plenty of privacy; two showers in designated rooms with sliding doors; many very comfortable public spaces, including a wonderful rooftop terrace. Perfect location. Very cheap. 10/10.

Please be aware that this hostel does not have a communal kitchen! I feel like it was not stated clearly enough on the booking sites - especially considering that this is usually a base line service you’d expect at a hostel. People in my room were meeting in the beds to prepare and share a meal, which goes to show how unpractical this setup is. Also the room I stayed at is small and there is almost no place to put your luggage. The bathroom is in the room (obviously there is a door) and that makes it kinda noisy during the night + in the morning that is not functional - a bigger communal sanitary space would be much better. Other that that it’s fine! The beds are comfortable and clean and the curtains provide privacy. The chill lounge is nice too. If you like commercial hostels this might be for you.

Staying in this hostel I is one of the most beautiful experiences I've had! From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with smiles and warmth as if I were an old friend. Everything was perfect - cleanliness at a high level, rooms comfortable and nicely decorated, and the atmosphere homely and pleasant. Special praise goes to the team of employees - always available, friendly and ready to help with anything, whether it's advice about the city, organization of excursions or just a friendly chat. Thank you for everything, I'm definitely coming back and - I'll get you something else! 😊
