I want to say this was a wonderful experience. Booking.com messed up our reservation and Debbie the lady at the desk took care of us so we'll. As a former store manager we never hear the good. She was amazing and professional. The room was great. Clean and inviting. The restaurant was wonderful. Will be sad when when we come back it won't be there. Breakfast was top notch. The complimentary Manhatten Clam Chosder at the desk was a great touch.

My organization recently used The Century House for a social event for about ~80 people. We were given about 10 days notice to plan the event. Marge at The Century House was extremely responsive and available to answer questions and help customize the group package to fit our needs. It was so easy to work with her and she really accommodated the time crunch we were under. The event itself was beautiful. The room was set up to meet our needs. The appetizers were delicious, the food was beautifully displayed, and every one loved the hors d'oeuvres. We had 2 stations; build your own macaroni and cheese and a pulled meat station. The quality of the food was fantastic. The servers were fast and friendly. The bar tender was very quick and accommodating. I highly recommend them for events, we will be back!

Looks nothing like the pictures! The lady at the front desk is very sweet and helpful. However, the restaurant is closed. Would not recommend!! Looking at moving to The Adelphi in Saratoga.

Ate for the first time at the century house Very rustic appearance with quaint atmosphere. Service was very friendly Our meals came out timed perfect from soup to main course. The soups and sauces were amazing the plating was excellent. The main course was delicious and perfectly cooked

Absolutely perfect! We really enjoyed our stay and whole experience as the staff were all super friendly and easy going! We made some really awesome new friends and will be back again! Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay as far as the hotel goes and the food at the restaurant and the atmosphere at the bar area was superb! The bartender and his wife were some of the best we have ever seen, serving multiple tables and full bar all with a smile on their faces and they actually took the time to get to know everyone and share stories and laughs! Awesome job to all of the staff at the Century House!! The location is super close to Saratoga/ SPAC without the high end Saratoga pricing, but trust me the grounds, pool area, inside and outside of hotel were spotless and everything was super clean. The full breakfast was the icing on the cake and the weddings were abundant, filling the air with love and happiness throughout the whole building, couldn’t say more good things about our stay!

Always great service and great tasting meals. Love the atmosphere, beautifully decorated. Service was 110% and dinner and appetizers came out without delay. This restaurant has many happy memories for the capital district residents.....weddings, holiday buffets, family celebrations. A very classy place.

Restaurant offers a great selection of excellent food, love their steaks! I was also very impressed with staff' courtesy, reasonable prices, and private banquet event facilities. The large restaurant dining hall is a little busy n noisy in the winter, look forward to checking their outdoors venue out in the summer. Highly recommend.

This was the last restaurant we dined in as the pandemic hit, so it's been over four years since we've returned. What was the draw? Thursday Lobster Roll Special! Yes, you can save $10 off the normal menu price for a hot lobster roll with French Fries ($26.95 special price). The lobster was plentiful, tender, and tasty. Served on a New England style hot dog roll with minimal lettuce, a wedge of lemon, plenty of melted butter, and a side of perfectly cooked shoestring fries, this was a very enjoyable meal that we topped off with an Imperial pint of Guinness ($10) and a pint of Paradox Pilsner ($8). The only downside is the high level of noise from customers talking in the main dining room while it was about three-quarters full. There is nothing to absorb or soften the sound bouncing off the wood and brick walls.

I come here every March for a work conference and it is always lovely. Please note that I never pay for the room, so I cannot comment on the price, but I will say that the rooms are lovely, newly renovated, spacious, and clean. We do not dine in the restaurant, but have our meetings catered by Century House, so I guess that's kind of the same thing. The food is always EXCELLENT in a buffet style. The food/snacks provided during our meeting are also wonderful (pita and dips, veggies, cookies, coffee). Breakfast is also wonderful. I've also been to the little tavern/bar area for drinks and it's very nice. I would recommend this hotel if you are in the area! It's a little more unique than your cookie-cutter big chain hotels.

This is our favorite restaurant but last night was a disaster - waiter was either not listening couldn't hear or his first day - either way we made him feel welcome and we were very nice - he said I'm sorry about 15 times. The drinks took forever every order! The food came out ok and was good (we ordered the pub specials burger/beer and steak sandwich/wine) but not great! The bread on the steak Sammy was so tough like it was microwaved so only ate the steak. We also ordered other drinks/apps Caleb our waiter gave us a $10 Hug discount and a free dessert -- he obviously knew it wasn't a good experience Next time we stick with eating at the bar!! This won't deter us from returning but

I attended a meeting/dinner this evening and was highly impressed. We had about 36 people present and the food was great. The appetizers were really different with things like a small shot glass which had tomato soup and a slice of grilled cheese. They called it a grill cheese shot... also the usual selection of cheeses and meats, roasted peppers and more than I can remember. The staff were very attentive to our needs. The room was set up very nicely, linens etc.... A very enjoyable evening!

We would like to commend the staff at The Century House, especially Maxwell Bomba, for an exceptional, over the top in food, atmosphere and excellent service from all the staff as our holiday party last night exceeded our expectations! If you are looking f lor a place to have your next party, or event, you can't t find a better place than The Century House! Great job by all and we appreciate all your efforts to make our party such a great experience at such a wonderful venue. Merry Christmas to you all.

My wife and I went here for dinner after spending a few days in Cooperstown. It was recommended by a coworker that grew up in the area. We were seated quickly and the service was fantastic. The atmosphere was great. We were in and out in less than an hour. My wife and I both had the prime rib. I also had the lobster chowder. My only complaint was the amount of fat on my steak.

We ordered a lobster roll with fries, lobster chowder, and a house salad with grilled chicken. The food was pretty good. The lobster roll and fries were great. The lobster chowder had a bitter aftertaste I couldn't really identify, and the salad was okay. The place is really cute and would be great for date night! They also have daily specials which sounded interesting/good. The service was alright. Our glasses went empty a couple of times, but overall not bad. Would definitely go again to try more of the food.

The ambience is so warm and cozy . Our server was a little odd but quite attentive and we never wanted for anything . Hubby and I had the 99.00 date night special which includes cocktail, house salad , prime rib with 3 stuffed shrimp. Mashed potatoes, popover, vegetables and dessert. Oh and basket of really good bread but served just tepid. The salad was huge, cold and fresh . The blue cheese dressing was good but a little more runny than we prefer and tasted a tad sweeter than I am used to. The prime rib was delicious ! The au jus was the best I have ever had and the horsey sauce was sumptuous. I wasn't too crazy about the popover . I think it's overkill for the dinner that already comes with bread . We had the chocolate mousse and lemon cake for dessert. The chocolate mousse was the hit ! So good . The lemon cake was not too shabby either.

Came to the Century house for a Christmas dinner. The parking lot in the front of the location was quite full it wasn't a large parking lot there was an additional overflow parking lot in the back adjacent to the hotel. I parked in the back parking lot but when you park in the back parking lot you have to walk through the hotel to get to the front to the restaurant so it's a little bit of a walk especially in heels and with Christmas gifts in tow. The restaurant it's self with pub like with a really pretty fireplace the lights were low on the restaurant was full again they don't check for your vaccine but they trust that you're either vaccinated are you wearing a mask. The service was excellent the space was welcoming it was warm and it was ample space in between dining tables. We started with an appetizer of Traditional Tavern Chips with Buffalo chicken. It was delicious The chips were crisp and they were not salty the chicken which season very well I was quite to see him moist. I ordered them Prime Rib Steak Sandwich which was shaved prime rib, dry sautéed mushrooms and onions with beer cheese sauce (on the side) and fries. The meat had a rank taste and was also very salty so I asked if I could exchange it. The server got the manager and the manager asked what was wrong and I repeated to her when I told the server and she said apologized and said I could have something else so I got the lobster roll with fries we drawn butter. The lobster roll was OK it tasted frozen and not fresh. All in all it was a good evening the service was great the location was nice, ambiance was great but my meal was not good.

I ordered room service during my stay in the hotel. I ordered the surf and turf (prime rib and a lobster tail) and they were unfortunately sold out of the prime rib. Instead, I got the CAB steak with a lobster tail. Yumm!!! It came with au jus, roasted potatoes, green beans and grape tomatoes. I also got their horseradish sauce on the side and I'm glad I did. It was cooked perfectly and so well seasoned! I am still thinking about it 5 days later. The one critique I would give is the room service ordering system. You call the restaurant and leave a message and the message tells you they only have 1 phone line so you may not get a confirmation call back for 25 minutes. They do encourage you to use their online food ordering system which is set up to order as pickup or delivery. I couldn't figure out how to order as room service so someone could bring it to me vs me having to walk there to get it. I ordered by leaving a message and waited for 25 minutes with no call back and no answer in the restaurant. Eventually I had to call the front desk and ask them to reach the restaurant for me so I could confirm my order was in. I have now eaten from the restaurant 3 times and love love love the steaks I've had!! I will genuinely drive 25 miles from my house to get this food on occasion. But if they could come up with a new slightly revised plan for their room service ordering system, that would definitely be a nice change.

Was staying at the century house hotel and needed close place to have dinner. Nothing beats a nice steak and good drinks.

It was mid. We came here for our post season baseball banquet. We were all super excited because we did a really big fundraiser and put a lot of time into playing well this season. On paper it's a lot better than our school cafeteria and some pasta. But in reality, it's about the same if not worse. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are beautiful and the wait staff was very organized and polite. But all the food was not seasoned at all. You could've dropped it into the ocean and it still wouldn't have had enough salt. The pulled brisket was oily and the pulled pork tased like water. Overall I would avoid it, but it's not bad, just bring some seasoning with you.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Everything is cooked perfectly. Since everyone else at the table was getting steak, I decided to get the scallops and then share. It was a great call. The steaks were amazing as were the scallops. They have some wonderful cocktails as well. I didn't get the chance to try their wine, but I hope to do so someday. The staff is super friendly. When we went, we had a very dear friend with us who uses a walker. The hostess made sure we got a table near the door so she didn't have far to walk. Our friend comes here often, so servers stopped by to say "hello." It was really nice to see. I don't live in the area, but I hope to come back and eat here again.

This is a classic Federal style dinning establishment, with a classy ambiance and dimmed lighting. There is now mistaking the evidence of a long history and tradition, as you are reminded by period paintings, wall hangings and the dark wood paneling surrounding you. In my opinion it is a great environment for dinning as I am a big fan of that era. We were a party of 5, and we started with some Orchard Mules which were served in a chilled metal dimpled cup and the proportions were perfect. A chopped salad for the table, with house-balsamic dressing on the side was a refreshing start to the meal. We knew to skip the appetizers, as some of us had been here previously, and were familiar with their large portions. You can't miss with any of their choices for an Angus Steak, and if you like scallops, you will definitely enjoy the ones served here, over risotto and a thin serving of smoked bacon. If you are a group, I highly recommend you ask for Liz, as your server, as she is very attentive and will explain every dish to you in great detail.

The service and ambience were both wonderful! We started out with drinks at the bar and Bob and Colleen were both extremely personable. The dining room has an old world charm to it, and a pleasant ambiance. We started out with lobster chowder, which was very flavorful. It would probably be considered much too salty to those who aren't into very well-seasoned food. My prime rib was cooked to order, and flavorful. There was, however, some connective tissue which made it extremely difficult to cut. I had to saw away like a maniac to be able to detach a bite to put into my mouth. My fitness tracker seriously gave me some minutes while cutting the meat. The jus, and horsey sauce were both delicious. The frites du jour were crisp and flavorful. My partner had filet with lobster Mac n cheese. The filet was cooked to order and flavorful. The Mac n cheese sauce had separated, and the cream had turned to oil. It was obviously re-heated. Flavor was still on point, but the creaminess would have been much more appealing The popovers weren't real popovers. They really should not advertise them as such. I've eaten them many times, and made them myself. They did not use a popover batter-but what seemed to be more of a dense muffin batter-with little to no flavor. They did not have the hollowed out shell that is characteristic of a real popover. This was quite à disappointment because a true popover can bring you to your knees. All around, this was a pleasant experience. The food was not great at all. Our server, Austin, was extremely attentive and personable.

Greeted by a disgusting smell as soon as I opened the door, most likely from the ancient carpeting. Attended a buffet event with sub par cafeteria food that is currently giving me indigestion. Expensive and low quality. Decor is outdated and drab. Do not recommend. Service was slow.

Every time we go to Century house I get their specialty chic dish, it's always right on. Creamy mash with garlic and I order a nice house salad. Service there is very exceptional. Never had any problems with that. The atmosphere is very nice. We try to sit near fireplace in the winter months. Nicely decorated.

Went here back on Valentine's day and forgot to review! It was so good! It was my first time there and the service was great and atmosphere very pleasant. Food portions were plentiful and with the special they had it is a bang for your buck. My boyfriend and I would gladly order from there now but we have decided to only eat their on Valentines day to keep it special. But trust me we would be eating there a lot. I will say it is a bit confusing with the entrance and where to go but all in all check it out!

I had not been here for several years, but I am pleased to have become reacquainted at lunch today. The dining room is colonial, rustic, and charming. (See photos for details.) The floor is made up of old boards which look great but may contribute to the room being some what noisy as more and more tables became occupied. Reason for four stars instead of five. Party of three, we enjoyed the food which was plated nicely on striking white china. The attractive large cloth napkins were a welcome contrast to paper used at many places. Our waiter was excellent. Food: I had The New England which was a very good value at $13. considering the quality of the food. The Lobster Chowder was fantastic, decadent actually. I wanted more than a cup which came with the lunch. I was able to swap a green salad for the pasta salad which was very nice. My husband had a Sirloin Tip Open Face Sandwich that came with A+ Potato Wedges. My daughter had the Mean Green vegetarian lunch. The rolls were fresh and crusty just the way we like them. My photos include one of the lunch menu (there were four specials) and several of the food. Happy to support this traditional, independently owned well established place! Will return soon.

We came here on a Thursday night for dinner and had a great experience! The restaurant is dimly lit, with a nice fireplace and cozy ambience. Thursdays at The Century House are burger night, where they offer a quality burger, fries, and a draft beer for $16, which is a great deal! In addition to the draft beers that came with our burger order, we tried the smoked old fashioned off their cocktail menu and were very impressed. After dinner, we were offered coffee and dessert and were very happy with the chocolate and peanut butter mousse. This place is a great combination of quality and affordability! We will definitely be back!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and took our seven month old son (the first time we took him out to eat with us), so it was a big night. We made the earliest reservation we could to accommodate our son's bedtime (and our new-parent exhaustion). We mentioned in our online reservation that we'd have our son with us and that it was our anniversary. Our hostess thoughtfully seated us in an area with a little extra space and no bordering table to accommodate our baby. We had made it clear we didn't need a leisurely dining experience, and our service reflected that. While we never felt rushed, everything flowed very quickly. Our waiter was extremely professional without being stuffy. I'm a beer person and the choices were not super extensive, but I was happy with the selection. I had the onion soup to start. It was delicious. I want to go back just for that soup. I'm not a huge fan of crotons/bread in soup, but they used a roll. It worked really well. The soup was very flavorful. It didn't have as much cheese as I would have preferred and I was a bit disappointed when I saw it, but the flavor of the soup more than compensated. My main was frites of the day. It was so good. The steak was delicious; it didn't need the sauce it came with, but the sauce was also delicious, so I did indulge. I enjoyed the green beans and carrots that came on the side. The frites themselves were just okay. They were sliced very thin and didn't have much of a Parmesan flavor to me. My husband was happy to take them off of my hands, however. (He also very much enjoyed calamari and the tavern burger.) Because it was our anniversary, we were offered either a champagne toast or chocolate mousse. We were brave and decided to chance the baby making it to dessert. I'm glad we were because that mousse was so good. We really enjoyed ourselves; from the service, to the atmosphere, to the food, everything was pretty great. It was nice enough to feel special, but not "fancy," which is perfect for me.

Great night Wife and I had tonight for dinner. Haven't been here for years but have been watching that prime rib special for a while now. What a tender, beautifully seasoned rib! Drinks, outstanding wedge salad and calamari. Yes we took home large take home container. This place has so much history and the simple but classy touches that they do here make you really feel special. Lastly our waiter, made our time there so enjoyable!

It's our special occasion go-to! The food, service & ambience never disappoint We always look forward to returning.

Food: fantastic. Absolutely terrific. Servers: an utter delight. Atmosphere: charming, romantic, just perfect. The server and the staff - everyone we ran into was wonderful and I cannot understate the quality and taste of that food. Our appetites were unfortunately ruined by a light lunch we had at the Olde English Pub but we still ordered lobster and their special osso buco of the evening - both of which were melt-in-your-mouth superb. Wish we lived closer - we'd be regulars :)

Fantastic rustic American traditional cuisine with history. There's no other way to get your meat sweats on than here trust me. Prime rib deals every Wednesday can't beat that. Went here for dinner and was greeted by a very friendly hostess who sat my gf and I by the fire place. We where then greated by our waitress Mary, who is the bomb! She was very nice and always came over to check on us. My gf's sangria was too sweat and Mary brought it back to fix no questions asked! We split the caprese salad( see photo), wow! Just everything you look for in this type of app, everything was so fresh the tomatoes along with the arugula and chopped basil and sweet vinaigrette just blew my taste buds away. Also the creamy mozzarella on top was so fresh as well, highly recommend that. For the entrees my gf got the classic bacon cheese burger, pretty normal but great food plate representation. I went for the special, something I have never had before and that was the Pork Osso bucco which was probably one of the best dinners I have every had. Get ready to get your Viking on because you get a giant pork bone cooked to where the meat just falls right off the bone, covered with a sweat, dark tangy meat sauce sitting on top of a comfy bed of perfectly cooked polenta and nestled to the side where the crispiest veggies I ever did have jack! Pictures are worth a thousand words so see attached, but overall our experience was fantastic, a little pricey but you get what you pay for at the Century House and that is perfection! Considerations: If your a taller person I would request to sit at a higher table, the lower ones are difficult to get your legs under which can be uncomfortable for a long time, I thought maybe the specialty drinks were a little pricy, and the tomatoes in the caprese salad could have been cut a little thinner and topped with more sweet vinaigrette.

One of the best parts of a three week long road trip when there are no specific plans for each new day are the surprises that you encounter along the way. And that includes meals at restaurants that you didn't even know existed. As we approached New York after driving through New Hampshire and Vermont, all we knew is that we would be stopping for the night near Schenectady or Albany. When we got close I fired up the smart phone and booked a hotel in Latham. When we checked in we asked where a good place to eat might be and the clerk at the front desk suggested that we try the Century House (which was just a short walk down Loudon Road). I was rather confused about the place as we walked up to it. It was a rather tired looking establishment -- a dated 1960's colonial motif -- but the parking lot was packed. Would there be an open table for us? It turns out there was an event in the banquet hall so that wasn't an issue. After walking past the the banquet hall and up and down a few corridors we finally found the restaurant. Only two or three tables in their spacious dining room (decorated ala Ethan Allen) were occupied. Was that an omen? Well, we were committed at this point so we decided, "This is it. For better or worse, dinner is here tonight." What followed was a delightful surprise -- probably the second or third best meal of our trip! (And BTW -- we ate at some pretty good places in Cleveland, OH, Dover, DE, New York City, and Portland, ME before arriving in Latham.) The drink specials of the evening included Perfect Rob Roy's -- something I've never had -- so I ordered one (dry). I loved it and now I frequently make them at home. For my starter I ordered some oysters on the half shell (sold by the each). I wouldn't rate them as good as the ones I had at the crab shack in Delaware, but they were fresh, clean and briny and served with a perfect mignonette. For my entree I ordered lobster mac and cheese. The ample portion was gooey and creamy with either (or both) Upstate New York or Vermont cheddar cheese and generous sized chunks of both tail and claw meat. My traveling companion ordered one of their steak dishes (I can't remember exactly which one), but I know he thought it was very good. We couldn't quite finish everything on our plates so we asked for boxes to take the leftovers with us. The next day when it was time to eat our leftovers we discovered that they even put some plastic utensils in our doggie bag! That alone would be worth an extra star but the meal itself was so good that, "1*, 2*, 3*, 4*s -- Yay, I'm a fan!"

Food was not worth the price, the $29 "roasted chicken" was chewy and had ZERO flavor. Honestly price chopper does a better chicken. The chairs are uncomfortable if you are larger than a size 4, I'm surprised I don't have bruises on my hips. The water tasted like plastic... why, I don't know since it's from a glass bottle. Honestly, won't go there again. Very disappointed from a $180 (without tip) meal.

I loved this restaurant for service, food and ambiance. It was one of our favorites. Not sure what happened, but the last time we went, service and food were less than ideal. We actually left without eating our entrees. We ordered takeout last night and it was worse than our last experience. Again, not sure what happened but change is definitely needed somewhere.

I have always said coming to this town was tough and hard to find that good cooked food or restaurant! I really enjoyed my stay & the food! The staff is amazing, drinks are great & the food was above and beyond then what I would typically find when I come to town. I will come back when I revisit.. even if its out of the way and adds more time on the route!

Had prime rib, it was excellent and reasonably priced. Very satisfied with service. Recommend it.

I received a gift cad by mistake for this place ( I live in the Boston area and there is a Century House here, not the same owners ) I have trued to contact this place and I was only able to talk to a rude person that answered the phone and got no call back as promised I have since writing my review have revived 2 emails and my son (how gave us this card) has been refunded . I had talked to the wrong person. Once the write people got involved it was taken care of very fast! Thank You

This is a gem of a restaurant in the capitol region. Great staff and management along with a great atmosphere and superb food! A great dining experience!

Loved the ambiance! The menu was unfortunately smaller than I would've liked and I wish there were more pub-type food options. A majority of the menu was seafood with a burger, one pasta dish and a few salads sprinkled in. The gnocchi was good, but not wonderful and the burger was decent.

Hands down the best thanksgiving meal my family and I have had in a while and we didn't even have to lift a finger. The whole process was so effortless from placing the preorder to picking it up, century house exceeded our expectations. The meal was set for 4-6 people and it was way more food than we could've even bargained for. The meal came with directions for reheat and everything was so well thought out from butter balls to a meat thermometer to ensure our turkey was reheated properly. I will definitely be grabbing my next thanksgiving meal from them.

This is probably one of the better restaurants in Latham but that doesn't say much. It is fairly pricey for semi-casual dining. I usually end up getting some kind of seafood because it is fresh and cooked well which is hard to come by in this area. The lobster chowder may carry a hefty price tag but it is rich and comes with a full claw on top of the meat in the actual soup. I think the recipe is a little different than it used to be though. It was more of a bisque in the past. The Light House Shore dinner is a favorite of mine. It comes with 3 scallops, 2 stuffed shrimp, a lobster claw and half a tail, as well as mashed potatoes and vegetables. I'm not a huge fan of scallops in general but they cook them just right here. The mashed potatoes are seasoned well and the vegetables are always cooked nice and firm. For dessert I was disappointed to hear that they no longer get their cheesecake from Carnegie Deli. But they have replaced it with a comparable substitute from New Skete. The Brunches and Special Parties never really live up to the actual restaurant quality so I wouldn't recommend them.

The absolute best in the Capital Region! Colin DeMers and his amazing staff have worked around the clock taking extraordinary measures for their guests. If you have a reservation, KEEP IT!! If you cancelled, rethink it. If you don't have one MAKE IT! Support these amazing people and their extraordinary efforts, you won't regret it. I'm making mine today! Have you had the Gabriel Shrimp? WOW!!!

We had our 2nd annual Thanksgiving Meal at the Century House. It was excellent ..... food, service, atmosphere ... A+++. Special shout out to Jennifer, our hostess, who saw to it that we had a wonderful time. I would recommend them for any of your needs, a meal, a meeting or a wedding. I've done all three there and they never disappoint.

Excellent American restaurant featuring old time steak and seafood in a rustic setting in Latham. Expertly prepared prime rib, filet mignon, cod and salmon. Rustic woodsy setting with fireplaces yards from busy Rt 9. Prompt service with great bar tucked in the back of the room. Quiet noise level considering the crowds. Owner cares about your experience and touches tables. No surprises, no nouvelle cuisine, no gimmicks but a great steak and seafood restaurant which is not outrageously priced. Perfect for a date or anniversary.

This place is very old and storied, decorated colonial style. You feel the history of the place just being there. Its quite charming in my view. They have several banquet rooms that look quite fancy. But, on to the food, which is what we came for. I had the king cut prime rib 20oz., and my sweetie the surf and turf (lobster tail and prime rib). The prime rib was the best we've had, like EVER. The menu says "award winning prime rib to which we say "YESSSS!" The lobster was a decent size Maine tail cooked perfectly. They were served with veggies and home made mashed potatoes and a popover (nice touch). My only (minor) disappointments were I like my mashed potatoes a tad hotter, and our diet cokes (we don't drink) came from the bar's mixer gun and perhaps it needs a syrup level adjustment or something. Small potatoes (pun intended). Now the dessert: I had the chocolate mousse and AGAIN I will say it's the best I've had like EVER. A large portion too, in a stylish dish with whip cream, strawberries, blueberries, drizzle, etc. The works! Sweetie had the Lemon Cloud Cake and it was awesome too! Off the charts lemony- wow! Service was perfect. Very friendly, very attentive, thanked (twice) for coming. We paid $110 plus tip for the two most expensive entrees, salads, soft drinks and dessert. I don't think that's too bad myself. The portions were huge. For what they serve, I challenge you to find better. Good luck but I don't think you will succeed. Make reservations as the restaurant part isn't super-large. If you are doing a holiday, book AT LEAST 3 weeks out. That tells you something right there! Happy dining!

Our party of 6 went for St. Patrick's day dinner. We all ordered the corned beef. The beef was tough and chewy. Vegetables were carrots and, naturally, cabbage. Both were so hard as to be inedible. When I pointed this out to the server, he said they were "blanched". Huh? What is that, really? We could barely cut them. Maybe we should have asked for better knives. He actually took my portion back for further cooking, but upon return they just seemed to have been "blanched" slightly more. I don't believe anyone was able to do more than sample them. I should add that the cute little potatoes were tasty. I was happy they weren't "blanched" also. A very disappointing experience. My first visit and probably my last.

Old school fine dining. Put on your dress shoes and take your better half out for a lovely dinner. I'd like to see the menu expanded a bit, but if you know what you like, and it works for you then that's all that matters. Go out and enjoy yourself, you won't be disappointed with whatever you order.

Our organization had a dinner meeting in one of the ballrooms at Century House last night. I cannot begin to tell you what a major disappointment it was. First of all, the room was not properly staffed. There was no one tending the bar. When I asked why not, I was told that they were short staffed that night. To have to tell 60+ people to go to their main bar was ridiculous, and doing so was a fiasco. The place has a very busy bar area (singles scene), and I could not get anyone to take my order for a glass of wine within a reasonable amount of time. So, I left ... empty handed. They lost a lot of revenue from our group because of this situation. Then there was the problem with the food, itself. The lady sitting next to me (one of our evening's sponsors) was not served with everyone else. And when I finally brought it to the wait staff's attention 20 minutes later, it took another 30 minutes for them to bring her salmon ... after I had to ask them a second time. Salmon does not take 30 minutes to prepare. My chicken entree was dry as a bone, like cardboard, overcooked so badly that it was impossible to swallow. I could not eat most of it. During the meal, trying to get a refill on my water was also challenge. Ditto for getting a cup of coffee. They were clearly not on the ball, and I doubt we will have another event there in the future.

I called the Century House when my son's wedding venue recently changed on very short notice. Decided to book rooms, rehearsal dinner and an after party celebration there. They were very helpful and accommodating. While we were able to book the events quickly, I was disappointed with a couple of things. First, was that they had the menu wrong, and it had to be changed at the very last minute and second, some of the food wasn't good. The chicken and bread pudding were dry and tough. The rest of the food was good. As a native of Latham and having eaten at CH for the past 50 plus years, the food was just not up to the usual standards. But overall, I love the place and ambience so that's what keeps it at 4 stars.

Last evening I attended the wedding of my niece. We had a fabulous appetizer table, then a buffet. It was the best food I had ever had at a wedding in my life. The venue was lovely and romantic as it should be with a wedding. The room had a beautiful roaring fire place, nice dance floor. But I cannot say enough about the food. Outstanding.

This food is expensive but however it came in large containers and had a exotic taste. Personally the chicken fingers and fry were my favorite. The food was cooked all the way and did not have any smudges on it I give this a four because it was pretty good for its price I recommend The Century House for any celebrations.

We had dinner at The Century House for our anniversary, not realizing they had a new chef. What an absolutely amazing meal! We were both savoring every bite. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. The entire experience was exceptional.

The dinning room is dark and pleasant revolutionary war era decor. Great waiter Gordon, who not only was knowledgeable and pleasant but even sang a show tune for my and another dinners birthday! He recommended the lobster Mac and cheese which was fabulous-the best I've ever had served hot in a pewter bowl. I had the special which was veal oscar. Nice presentation, temperature perfect, the oscar was Lobster instead of the typical crab! The veal was a bit tough and slightly breaded. Potatoes were ok, asparagus delicious they used both a hollandaise and bernaise sauce. My companion had steak and scallops. Scallops were perfectly done and tasty. Steak was a filet and done perfectly as well. Served with broccoli rabe which was tasty. We took dessert to go as we did not have time.i have attended brunches here but will def be back for dinner!!

I'm on the fence with a 2 or 3 star review. The food was incredibly underseasoned. I ordered their grilled shrimp. The presentation teased my appetite and I ate the entire meal, but I was incredibly disappointed. I tried my party's meal and it was also lackluster, so I decided to not request a different protein. It's unusual [for me] to have a meal in their price point that doesn't hold water. I probably won't be back... Friendly staff gave this a 3 star rating instead of 2 star.

The food was good and the service very kind and efficient from our new server. Lobster chowder was good. I would get it again. I dont recommend the salmon if you don't like balsamic reduction. It doesn't say on the menu that is on it, and the salmon was quite salty, perhaps as a result of the balsamic reduction. This is a family owned restaurant, and it's location is convenient for us, but it's pricey so the food should be up to its price. I this case we found it wanting. .
