We stayed at the Charlee Flats as a group of 6 (two couples, two teens) for Thanksgiving weekend, 2025. This rental was excellent: comfy, well appointed, so beautifully decorated, ADA accessible if needed, and priced well. We specifically wanted a unit that would fit our group of 6 for a Thanksgiving meal in. With many properties in Charleston being tight quarters, this was one of the only 4 BR/3 BA that we found with a kitchen & dining area where we could cook, spread out, and sit 6 at the dining table. The host went above and beyond to make sure we had the cooking/prep items in the house to prepare a big meal.
The unit’s outdoor balcony, seating, & outdoor table were another highlight that allowed us to spread out, enjoy the first days of good weather, plus have the sliding doors open to the outside on warm afternoons. We all sat comfortably in the living room for a movie in, and a few enjoyed thanksgiving naps there too. The teens liked having their own spaces. We loved the perk of having bikes, which were well maintained, tires pumped, and bike locks included. Thanksgiving day allowed for the perfect uncrowded time to ride 5 miles round trip down King Street to the Battery and Historic Area, and back past the College of Charleston.
Our group had a variety of interests and is active, so from this property we walked to dining, shopping, old churches and coffee shops; drove to Folly Beach Pier to fish; and drove over Charleston’s iconic bridge to Mr Pleasant at night to grab groceries at Fresh Market, and for an afternoon of pickleball (both times with amazing city/harbor views). The rental has some great coffee shops/eateries close, and more great restaurants, night life, and the King Street shops about 1/2 mile walk away. It’s about 1.5 miles to walk down to King St & Market St for some of the major retail shops, churches, and parks (3 miles round trip), and a bit over 2 miles to walk down to The Battery or over to Waterfront Park (4-5 miles round trip). For city walkers/bikers, it’s doable, but older folks or young kids might prefer to drive & park or uber to sightsee at those locations. We drove to the Historic District & Waterfront Park on our last day since temps had dropped, and found free street parking easily.
Overall, this was an excellent rental for our family in an amazing city with so much to do and see. Would definitely recommend!
