It’s been a while since I last stayed at The Chen in Box Hill, VIC, so I was really glad when work lined up for me to stay there again. The location is spot on for meetings across Melbourne, and it made everything incredibly convenient.
I’m from South West Sydney and always say we’re blessed with some of the best food in the world thanks to our strong migrant culture — especially from South East Asia. But Box Hill genuinely impressed me. The variety of Chinese, Korean and Japanese cuisine within easy walking distance of the hotel was amazing. If you’re a food lover, this location alone is a huge plus.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean, with a modern feel that makes it easy to unwind after a long day. The only thing worth noting is that the hot water runs extremely hot and can be quite sensitive to adjust. It’s a bit fidgety trying to find the right temperature for a shower or even washing your hands, as it can suddenly turn boiling hot. Just something to be mindful of.
A big thank you to the front-of-house team for the warm welcome. The lobby has a great vibe, highlighted by the signature Chen calligraphy artwork, which gives the hotel a unique character. Sue in particular provided excellent customer service and was lovely to chat with about our experiences staying at Accor hotels around the world.
Overall, I would highly recommend The Chen. Great location, comfortable rooms, fantastic food options nearby, and friendly staff — it ticks all the boxes.
