The Chess Hotel, a Design Boutique Hotel Paris, France

"Interior designers Gilles and Bossier are to thank for the bold and striking design of his chic new upmarket Parisian hotel. Gilles and Bossier are revered designers who have made a name for themselves not only in Paris but across the world. They will soon be credited for the amazing Baracat hotel which is opening soon in New York City. The hotel exudes luxury from every corner. Attention to detail is the key here and the best quality furnishings have been used and the atmosphere is one of smart, contemporary sophistication. The rooms are spectacular with bold pops of colour in canary yellow walls, which stylishly compliment tones of grey. Large four poster beds offer the ultimate in comfort and gorgeous designer black and white tiled bathrooms only add to the sense of chic sophistication that you can expect from this hotel. Located in the bustling Opera district means that the Chess Hotel Paris is in a fine location to access all the sights and sounds of the city. Not only are there plenty of fantastic places to sample local cuisine, relax with a coffee or head to for a night out, but guests will also be pleased to realise that museums, art galleries and other celebrated Parisian attractions are also easily accessible form the hotel’s door, making the Chess Hotel a fantastic choice to make your base as you explore all that the city has to offer." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

The service at the Chess Hotel is unmatched. The staff is so gracious and accommodating. Great hotel, safe area, good amenities and loads of restaurants etc within walking distance. My elderly father forgot his glasses and Pierre Louis at the front desk went absolutely out of his way to help us get them back. Amazing considerate service by everyone. We were so impressed. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will stay there again when we return to Paris. Enjoy!

This was my second time staying at The Chess Hotel Paris, and I even recommended a friend to book a room here as well during our trip. I’ve always appreciated the familiar and convenient location, the sense of safety when entering the building, and the helpfulness of the staff. I like to book a room with a balcony, and this time I stayed in Room 403. On my previous visit, I stayed in Room 404, so this area of the hotel feels familiar and comfortable to me. The rooms are modern, well-designed, and equipped with everything you need. However, the mattress is very soft—not firm—which might be uncomfortable for guests who have back issues. The reason I’m giving 3 stars this time is due to the serious cleanliness issue in our bathroom. There was a large amount of mold on the walls, which was disappointing and clearly unhygienic. This is something that I believe must be urgently addressed. I still want to come back in the future, but I sincerely hope the hotel takes the cleanliness issue seriously and improves its housekeeping standards. Overall, many things are well-managed here—but hygiene must be a top priority.

We had a deeply disappointing experience at this hotel. An iPad, Kindle, and a collection of makeup were stolen from our room on August 3rd 2025 at approximately 10:00 am. We immediately reported the incident, but the response from management was inadequate. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no effort was made to check security footage or investigate beyond a brief and unhelpful search of our room, which we had already thoroughly checked ourselves. Unfortunately, there was no follow-up, accountability, or concern shown by the staff. This experience left us feeling completely unsupported and unsafe. We would not recommend this hotel.

Dear Chess Hotel Team, I recently had the pleasure of staying at your beautiful hotel in Paris and wanted to extend my compliments — it was one of the most memorable stays I’ve had. In particular, the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Would you be so kind as to let me know the brand and model of the mattress used in your rooms (specifically the one I stayed in)? I would love to recreate that comfort at home. Thank you very much in advance for your assistance. Warm regards,

MJ Siewert

Nice hotel and friendly staff! The location is great, a ton of places are walkable within 30 mins from here including the louvre, and sacre coeur. The room isn’t too big but it’s nice, and you will be spending most of the time outside anyway.

I stayed on business but hotel felt more of the tourist category. Deluxe room was tiny. It was virtually just bed and really small round table in the corner. I stayed in many Paris hotels over the years and this room was the smallest. Closet behind the curtain. Internet for work call was actually decent. Safe worked.||There was no kettle or complementary water in the room. British tea lovers beware!||Prices in minibar: 7 euros for a can of sparkling water.||Window opens normally for fresh air and aircon heats properly.||Bathrobe and sleepers included.||I requested back side which was view to the wall but at least it was quiet at night. ||Hotel is in the side street - close to the shopping and metro station. You can easily arrive by metro from Gare du Nord with one change (line 4 and 9). I took uber once and if you can - avoid it as city centre traffic is horrendous, I spent one hour on one roundabout. Take the metro or just walk - it will be quicker.||Staff at the reception is friendly.||Overall it was fine for one night but there is nothing in particular that would call me back.

Central to louvre, opera. Close to red bus stop. Plenty of cafes and restaurants close. Quiet room with everything you'd expect. Lounge with bar at reception.
