We had the most incredible stay at this luxury boutique inn! From the moment we arrived, the front desk clerk MaryGail was exceptionally gracious and accommodating. Her warmth and kindness truly made us feel at home. The next day, we met Ellen, the manager and front desk clerk on duty, who was also very kind and warm to us and the other guests. The service throughout our stay was flawless. Their complimentary breakfast was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared and a perfect start to each day. My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you for making our honeymoon trip so memorable. We can't wait to return!

We had an outstanding stay at The Christopher in Edgartown! Our room was pristine with lovely views of Water Street. Several windows let in ample natural light. The staff was attentive, efficient and hospitable. There was such attention to detail from a fully stocked Keurig coffee station to the homemade chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with sea salt! The dining area and sitting room were gorgeous and tastefully decorated. The convenient location of The Christopher was everything! Perfect, walkable distance from the shops/restaurants and bus stop. Check out the patio around back - a lovely, peaceful spot to unwind and stay warm by the fireplace. I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! If you are looking for a memorable venue in a picturesque town, this is the perfect spot for you.

This beautiful historical home is situated in the heart of Edgartown! It takes 1 minute to walk to all restaurants / shops / coffee! The staff is so lovely as well! We woke up to the most delicious banana bread and croissants this morning. The bedding was so soft and comfortable as well! I highly recommend this place ❤️

My wife and I have been visiting Martha Vineyard for four years in a row, and this time we chose to stay at The Christopher in Edgartown because of its great location. It turned out to be the best decision. Ellen and Mary -Gail at the front desk were outstanding—they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and even treated us to delicious homemade cookies every night. Breakfast each morning was simple but very good. If you are visiting Martha’s Vineyard and want to stay in Edgartown, this is hands down the best place to relax and enjoy your vacation.

Nice hotel with continental style breakfast. Rooms are quiet, fridge could be a little noisy but was fairly quiet when not running. Staff friendly and helpful and have seen the Who so that’s good. Beds comfortable. The banana bread was great as were the cold oats. Really loved the sparkling water on tap. Nice experience, thanks for having me.

Yelp
Finished a 4 nite stay the first week of October. Outstanding accommodations, caring, attentive and thoughtful staff throughout the stay. Josie was simply a highly professional and accommodating person. She truly understands what it means to make people feel special and was able to handle a few of our requests with ease! We stayed in a top floor suite with two awesome deck areas overlooking water street. The room was clean and well appointed, bedding was overly comfortable . There are no elevators , so be prepared to get some great exercise if your lucky enough that access the third floor. The property is very well maintained. Great location too. Very central access to waking Edgartown - and easy access to the many island highlights. Side note : Being a huge fan of JAWS, I was so delighted to determine this property was shooting location along Water street it was shown in the scene where Brody walked to the hardware store across from the bike store which now houses a great coffee shop. So close to the Chappy ferry as well. Highly recommend this property -

Yelp
Perfect stay at a perfect (for us) hotel. Historic charm, Super convenient location, pristine room with lovely details (super comfy bed) and warm and helpful clerk (who graciously upgraded us to a king suite upon hearing of my husbands birthday...and of course availability). Room 11, 3rd floor has two entries to a large balcony (with chairs) and a fabulous view with peaks of the water. For those with mobility issues this may not be for you as the stairs are narrow and steep (there is one queen room on the first floor). Nice to offer a small breakfast selection of danish and fruit, but it's not going to fill your belly :) My only other tiny peeve is that the sheets were a thin tencel fabric, which, while super silky, are not helpful for us women with temperature control issues :) I look forward to returning to this Edgartown gem!

Yelp
Overall a great experience! The hotel staff was very friendly, attentive and gave some great recommendations of what to do around town. The breakfast was great and featured items made in house and locally sourced additions. The rooms were impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The hotel is at an great, centralized part of town walking distance to great bars and restaurants and also (and arguably the most important) the ocean

Yelp
My cousin was getting married in Martha's Vineyard and there were so many hotels listed on her website it was hard to choose. My family and I ended up choosing The Christopher for its central location in downtown Edgartown. We truly had no idea what to expect. In all honesty, it's probably the most money I've ever spent on a hotel, but I do love staying at boutique hotels for the unique experience. I am aN ambassador for Marriott so it's not often I stay in anything but. I was truly looking forward to this one specifically. A few days before we were scheduled to check in, I got a text message from them asking me a few questions about our reservation. For instance, we had our one year old with us and he needed to sleep in a pack and play. They said they had one available, which was great. One less thing to travel with. We traveled all morning and I was getting nervous about what time I'd be able to nap him since it said our check-in time was 4 PM. They allowed for us to check in when we got there at noon. They also upgraded us to a bigger room at no cost knowing that we had our son. The only issue was, it was right next to the check in so at times it could be loud, but it didn't bother us at all and we loved the extra space. The location is perfect seeing as that it is right downtown and within walking distance to so much. The service was great, Josie was the front desk receptionist who was there the most often and she was so sweet and helpful. The check-in process couldn't be more easy. They have you pay half of your reservation upon booking, and the rest when you arrive. They also have a plated breakfast with coffee and tea each morning which I didn't even know about, it was really delicious and healthy. There was hard boiled eggs, yogurt parfaits, chia pudding, yogurt, smoked salmon on toast, etc. They will keep the coffee and tea out until about 11 AM. They have a beautiful outside patio in the back with a fire pit. It's easy to miss, you actually have to go out front and walk around in order to access it. They have a great area in the front with chairs you can sit on and watch the beauty of Martha's Vineyard passing by. The room itself was very lovely. They also have a water station so you can fill up your water and not have to pay a bunch of money on buying multiple water bottles. The only thing I would say that would be somewhat negative is that we bought a carton of milk for my son, and it didn't hold overnight because the refrigerator just wasn't strong enough. I didn't complain but I did let them know when we left so the next guest would not have to deal with that. Overall, I enjoyed this stay. It was very expensive, but it was a very luxurious experience and worth it. If ever back in Edgartown, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Excellent boutique hotel that avoids the day traffic in Oak Bluffs. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and had good variety. When we return to the Vineyard, this will most assuredly be one of the few places we will go.

Meribeth G.

Yelp
Great location, friendly and helpful staff and great place all around especially if you have to stay in during a storm, we enjoyed it quite a bit!! Thanks! The cookies in the afternoon were great too.

Yelp
Marla and Julie think of all the little things that make for a truly special experience at The Christopher! Over-the-top recommendations for dining and daytripping around the island. Rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable. The common areas have a relaxed, fun vibe and there are always freshly baked cookies at reception - even if you're in search of a late night snack, they leave them out! Thank you ladies for making our stay one of the best! Can't wait to plan our next visit to the Vineyard!

Selena F.

Yelp
This is by far one of my favorite Bed and Breakfasts I have ever stayed at! Marla, the manager, is so welcoming and a great help for things to do in the area. The bedding is so comfortable and the room was impeccable. All the small touches made everything so bright and welcoming. I will definitely come back! Thank you Lark Hotels for such a great stay!!

Yelp
Booked for five nights at this very expensive B and B.Room was not ready. When showed to the room there was a strong smell of must/mildew.Husband checked the wall unit saw some mold.Asked for another room. They were very accommodating BUT when I said the room smelled, they said you are not the first person to say that.WTF,then why didn't you fix it,were you hoping the next persons nose wouldn't"t notice? Yes you gave us another room but you dropped the ball.

Yelp
Exceptional Bed& Breakfast, Lark Hotels. Bedding is luxurious and extremely comfortable. Hostesses were delightful. Included scrumptious breakfast perfect to satisfy you. Great location, steps to Main Street and alchemy restaurant and rockfish restaurants. Rooms are clean and fresh scent(important fact for B&Bs)

Yelp
Could not recommend this place enough. This is by far the best hotel me and my Fiancé have ever stayed at. From the moment you get there, you feel incredibly welcome. So much little details go into your stay that really make the extra difference. The little personal notes everyday are such a nice touch. They have a great little breakfast every morning that leaves nothing to be desired. Marla the hotel manager is so great, she really wants to make sure you have the best experience. Me and my fiancé got engaged while staying there and the entire staff was so sweet about it and even left us champagne and a personalized note congratulating us. The bedding was also amazing which makes the stay so much better. The location is right in the middle of Edgar town which was nice. If you are staying on Martha's Vineyard, do yourself a favor and stay at the Christopher, you will be happy you did.

Yelp
We stay at larks whenever we can for our New England adventures- the Christopher has been our #1 so far! Larks always have incredible styling, great amenities, and comfy beds. The Christopher was set apart by its gorgeous patio, small size, and most importantly amazing hospitality. Marla made our whole trip and we can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Beautiful & clean B&B! Service & atmosphere was Amazing!! My mom & I took a trip here in October and we loved it! We will definitely be back next year!

Yelp
Beautiful property with modern, quiet rooms throughout and centrally located in the heart of town. It's on the registry of historic places, but you would never know it from the modern rooms and accommodations. They have a wonderful little family room and sitting area downstairs. Out back is a brick patio with a nice fire pit for relaxing around the warm fire on cool autumn evenings. Just spectacular! Couldn't ask for a nicer stay in MV.

Jeffrey O.

Yelp
I sure wish I could give 4.75 stars! Julie and Marla are great hosts. The location is ideal. Spotlessly clean and charming. I'd give 5 stars if there was an elevator! Anyone who has trouble with narrow stairs and low hand railings should get a first floor room. Hence the 4 stars. I'm getting a bit unsteady on my feet. If I was younger it would be 5 stars for sure.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the christopher in martha's vineyard for two days this past week. Marla works at the front desk and was nothing short of amazing from the time we checked in to when we checked out. About an hour prior to getting in Marla gave us a call check and see what time we'd be getting in. I do like that because you can tell they like to be prepared. Upon our arrival Marla checked us in and right away marked out a map of suggestions for places to visit things to do and restaurants to visit. This was extremely helpful being it was a short trip so it saved us time to figure out things. We were able to get to about 6 places that Marla suggested and all 6 that we were able to get to were great! Marla even rented us a jeep wrangler to help us to get around which was a lot easier than having to go to a rental place to get a car. Every morning marlanhad freshly prepared breakfast bags with the menu and music suggestions and a inspirational quote attached, this was a very sweet sentiment and a nice way to start each day. Due to covid a lot of things change, but at the christopher you'd never notice or feel inconvenienced in anyway as the staff does everything to make you feel comfortable and safe. As for the actual buolding, the hotel is very well kept, and clean. Our room was gorgeous and cozy. Everything was well cleaned and well kept. There is a beautiful rear patio with a fire pit to hang out in the afternoons as well. I highly recommend staying here and my wife and I will surely be back!

Yelp
The location makes this place. It is convenient, convenient. Everything else was okay--the good: breakfast was fine, nothing to write home about (oatmeal, chia pudding--everything cold because they single serve and then leave for pick up. Traditional lock and key for room entry but only one key (would prefer two for a two-guest stay). Towels were clean and switched out when asked. The disappointing: the reviews talked about the hosts that made everyone feel welcomed--I felt none of that. I don't know who the hosts were and was not on a first name basis with anyone (were here for a week). Check-in was fine but they failed to really welcome and explain the hotel procedures--for example, we were here with friends and it took us a couple days to realize you have to put a sign on your door to have them pass by (no cleaning) and to request cleaning. The first day, I saw the "do not disturb sign" and decided to not put out, thinking this signaled a clean. I was disappointed to come back after several hours to an unkempt room. I turned the sign to see the "please clean" on the other side. Apparently no sign also means don't clean. Weird! The worst was the AC. The room smelled like mildew which signals the wall-hung AC units haven't been properly maintained. We requested an AC clean and was obliged but it was surface cleaned and started smelling again within several hours. I suggest the hotel completes deep cleans every couple of months by HVAC company to ensure cleanliness. If you have bad mold/dust allergies--this is not for you unless changes are made. Another thing that was not acceptable was the front door does not close when the wood swells. It's supposed to close at 8:00 with a code entry. However, many nights we couldn't get the door to even close because the old wooden door swelled. So it was unlocked all night. I think this poses a safety issue that could be easily addressed. One night here, severe weather came through and through tornado warnings, the door remained opened with only screen to protect and unaddressed by staff. Last item, hotel internet is an unprotected network and internet upload speeds were bad. If you hope to work during your stay, I suggest you find another location. During season we paid $500+ a night--so we were disappointed by the execution. Again, location couldn't be better.

Yelp
We ended up staying here for a week (9/17-9/23) due to the arrival of Hurricane Jose. Originally we were staying for 3 nights, moving then to Nantucket. The ferries stopped running on Wednesday, resuming on Friday. Julie and Marla were just wonderful - provided guests with flashlights, games, special treats ("a hurricane Jose cake and special libations") and made the guests feel at ease about being stranded thanks to mother nature. We checked out and then back in as the week progressed. They even held a room for us, just in case we didn't get on the ferry after they started running so we had a "home" to come back when the ferry couldn't accommodate our car and us.! The Christopher is a wonderful inn and so convenient for walking around beautiful Edgartown, delicious breakfasts, wonderful patio with a fire pit, which we used each day until Jose arrived.

Kerri P.

Yelp
I can not say enough good things about the Christopher! My mom and I stayed here for 4 nights and the customer service was incredible. Marla, made sure we were always comfortable, had everything we needed and was extremely kind. We were also here to celebrate my moms birthday and they made sure my mom felt special every moment, from champagne to leaving notes in our room everyday. If you are looking for a place to stay in Martha's Vineyard you do not need to look any farther! Not only is Edgartown the cutest town on the island but the hotel was incredibly clean and in the best location.

Jackie T.

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at the Christopher and we couldn't have picked a better spot to stay! From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, everything was spectacular (including the location of the property). The room was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the morning and the delicious afternoon treats. Marla was super helpful and even arranged for us to rent a jeep one of the days! Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special getaway spot! A++!

Nora P.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to stay, and you'll love Julie and Marla! I don't know how they manage to do so much, and be so helpful with suggestions and directions too. Amazing ladies, and amazing place to stay in a great location. Convenient and easy walk to shops and restaurants.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that as good as the property is - the best part is having Julie & Marla there on the property attending to every detail. From the amazing homemade breakfasts to the personal assistance with anything a guest might request they were there at every turn to make sure our stay was everything it could be. And we were not alone in our opinion of these two shining stars. All the other guests we encountered were as enthusiastic as we when it came to "the girls" as we came to address these two charming and fun innkeepers. The property itself is first rate. A period building recently transformed quite thoughtfully into a lovely and warm transitional space (not too traditional nor too modern) where close attention has clearly been paid to every design detail. And at the same time bold, current, and inspirational design & colour choices have been made so as to make sure you know that despite the look of the vintage building you are not staying at your grandmothers place (not that there is anything wrong with that - grandmothers rock!). I concur with all the good things the other reviewers have mentioned regarding the property in general. And I have no real criticism except to say in agreement to another review, that yes, a full length mirror would be a welcome addition to the rooms (especially the suites). We were attending several social events in MV during our stay and sometimes you just have to glimpse the whole outfit before you step out the door. :-)

Meg M.

Yelp
This quaint, charming boutique hotel is great in and of itself. But the staff is what makes it warm, welcoming and takes it to the next level. Our room was sunny, spacious, clean, comfy and had 2 balconies. The breakfast is made from scratch every morning, and the warm cookies in the afternoon are lovingly hand made by Julie and Marla who run the place like it was their own bed and breakfast. Everyone there makes you feel pampered and well taken care of. High recommend!

Dan P.

Yelp
We had a terrific visit at the Christopher. The staff was friendly, helpful and just awesome! Perfect location for exploring Edgartown. Our room was clean and bright. The breakfast was all home made and perfect to start the day. The parking lot was a great perk and the outdoor area was a nice quiet place to relax and recuperate. Great place!!!

Angie W.

Yelp
Such a beautiful and cozy inn in a fantastic location! The breakfast is creative and tasty and it is different each day. Most of all the staff is just outstanding. Everyone at the Christopher is friendly and warm. They take good care of you. We felt like we were staying at a friend's home.

Caroline S.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at The Christopher for our honeymoon and had the best time! From the moment I booked over the phone, the staff was so excited to have us and welcoming. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable and we loved their breakfasts in the morning. One of my favorite parts of our stay was when we came home late after dinner we could smell freshly baked goods in the oven for the morning breakfast! The entire Inn smelled so amazing and the staff made it feel like home. We can't wait to celebrate our anniversaries their in the future!

Meg L.

Yelp
My husband and I visited MV for our honeymoon and had a wonderful experience at The Christopher, from start to finish! It has an excellent location in Edgartown to most restaurants and bars. We stayed in a beautiful suite with a king sized bed and balcony which was beautifully updated and decorated and incredibly tidy. We were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco and murdick's chocolate in our room- such a thoughtful touch! Breakfast typically included a selection of an egg dish, fresh fruit, delicious baked goods, fresh OJ And coffee, all of which were tasty. The Christopher also has a beautiful back patio with a fire pit which we unfortunately did not get to utilize with the weather, but the first night we arrived another party was enjoying their wine next to the fire. The staff was incredible. We had a few personal hiccups with our trip and Julie and everyone else went above and beyond to help which we truly appreciated! Would highly recommend The Christopher!!

Ama M.

Yelp
Beautiful place and perfectly situated. Juliana and Marla are charming and super helpful. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We visited Martha's Vineyard for Thanksgiving with friends. The Christopher has a great location within walking distance to Edgartown's bars, restaurants, and shops. The charm of an inn with the amenities of a modern boutique hotel. King-size bed. Spacious bathroom with big shower. Robes and lots of towels. Homemade breakfast with unique presentations - one morning's offerings included eggs, bacon, pumpkin bread, banana blueberry muffins, bacon chive biscuits, and honey butter (yum). Marla and Julie bring passion and warmth to their work, instinctively knowing when you're up for a chat and when you want some quiet time. Perfection.

Gina D.

Yelp
Once again, I returned to The Christopher a few weeks ago for a 3-night stay. Truth be told, Julie & Marla are the reason for my repeat visits at the inn. I had stayed at The Sydney last July (The Christopher's sister inn) and had planned on staying in their newly added addition this year, but after learning that Julie & Marla were not managing The Sydney, I returned to The Christopher. Everything is perfect from the rooms to the service. Every guest I speak with in the breakfast room all have the same rave reviews of the managers of this property. They recommended a new restaurant within walking distance, 19 Raw, which was excellent. Year after year, they continue to welcome me with open arms, full of suggestions, conversation and making me feel welcome and at home. I learned while there that Julie & Marla are now managing another new property within the group, The Richard. Julie took time out of her busy morning to show me around The Richard and it is absolutely beautiful. As long as Julie & Marla are still managing this property next year, I will be a guest at The Richard. J&M go above and beyond and truly love their guests and making sure that everyone feels at home.
