The Chuckwagon

First time at the Chuckwagon. We pulled up and there was a line waiting to get in. Once they opened, service went fast. We ordered the Texas Trinity with baked beans, potato salad, and a side of macaroni with sweet tea. My husband really enjoyed the beef black pepper sausage and the ribs were tender and juicy. I don't enjoy brisket but my husband tried it and liked it the least. The potato salad was okay. I'm used to sweet bbq baked beans, so I didn't enjoy the beans on their own but with the potato salad—it was palatable. The macaroni had a smoky flavor which was nice. And, as a southerner, I love sweet tea. It was just right for me! The only sauce I tried was the sweet flavor. It was very good! Indoor seating is limited, but we were fortunate to get a spot. The employees that I interacted with were nice, which is always a plus. At eight months pregnant, waiting in line was my least favorite part of the process, but it was quick and worth it for the ribs and sweet tea alone. Whenever we make it back, I'd love to try the banana pudding.

Very excited to finally try The Chuckwagon. Very glad I got there early because they were already sold out of Dino Ribs and Short ribs by 12:30pm (They open at Noon). The Dino Rib was so amazing and probably my favorite of the meal. Everything was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered 1/2 lb of moist brisket, 2 jalapeño cheddar links, 2 Texas twinkle, 1 Beef Dino Rib. Both BBQ sauces went really well with all of the meats, but they were also all very tasty without any sauce.

THE BEST BBQ IN COLORADO SPRINGS!!! Been here for 10 years. I've tried Rudy's, Famous Dave's, BirdDog, Front Range BBQ, and Dickies. None of them come close. This is fresh BBQ done right. There is a reason they are only open for a few hours four days out of the week, and sell out almost every day. The food is great. The customer service is great. All meat is tender, smokey flavor, falls off the bone. The sides are great as well. I've tried them all. There is gonna be a big line if you get there early but you know why. I just wish the place was bigger is all, but understand the process. They started as a food truck and this is the next step. Only up from here for this place because it's just that good. All I ask is to make the next place on the Northside of Marksheffel to stay close to me. Regardless I'm a lifelong customer. Great job Chuckwagon!

Best burger you will find in town, and nobody can beat the price. They ran out of pork ribs on my first visit, so I will make sure to get there early so I don't miss out on my 2nd visit. The brisket and short rib was exellent. Seems like they have earned a loyal customer base, if you show up after they open you can expect a 1hr wait to order. Food comes out quick after ordering. Be sure to treat this place right, and get there early so you don't miss out on your favorite item. I stumbled into my new favorite BBQ joint in Colorado Springs. It's hard to find my true BBQ place in this wasteland of wannabe BBQ places. This is the place you need to visit even if it's across town.

This place is to die for! It is absolutely amazing and that’s the reason it’s first come first serve. The brisket is mouth watering the ribs are amazing, the Texas Twinkie's are the best things my taste buds have ever tasted the corn was so so so good! We love love love this place and will continue to eat here!

This isnt just the best BBQ in town or in the state. This could very well be the beat BBQ in the entire country. The Dino Bone Ribs are unbelievable. The smell of the smoke when you park and grt out of your car is beyond human senses to appreciate fully.

Best BBQ in all of Colorado not just the Springs! Believe me, I am a native of 61 years in Colorado Springs and this place is far and away the best! Family owned and operated with an incredible staff, they treat everyone with kindness and hospitality! They do sell out daily so go early and expect a bit of a wait, well worth it!

Food? 4/5. Great meat, sides were meh. Ambiance? 4/5. Everyone waited outside over an hour before open. Ya know it's worth it. It's not the biggest place but hey, take it home and enjoy. Service? 5/5! Gloves were changed between items to prevent cross contamination, everyone's friendly, and SPEEDY! First time there, I waited 30 minutes before open outside. Order a little of everything. Great flavor on ALL the meat. Portions were massive. Honestly, $20 doesn't get people far nowadays but that's easily 3-4 meals here with the portions. The macaroni was what threw me off. Tastes weird and wasn't al dente. I'm picky on that I suppose. Cheesecakes were great! Baked beans? Yum! Get here dudes, it's worth it.

We love barbecue, and when you eat your way through Texas Monthly's BBQ edition every year, that really sets the bar for what you consider "great barbecue." We saw this place on a social media reel and decided to give it a try. The Pros: * Great variety in the meat selection, plus fun daily specials. * The ribs were hands down the best of what we ordered -- flavorful and tender. * Staff was friendly and service moved as quickly as possible despite the crowd. Since we love barbecue, we ordered both moist and lean brisket, ribs, Texas Twinkies, the tater bomb (recommended by the couple behind us in line), beans, and elote. The Food: * Brisket: The moist cut was better than the lean. It had a visible smoke ring, but lacked that deep Texas smoky flavor and the crust we love. * Ribs: The star of the show -- seasoned well and cooked perfectly. * Texas Twinkies: We measure these by Hutchins BBQ in McKinney, TX (our gold standard). These were decent for Colorado, but the bacon was soft instead of crisp, and the cream cheese filling overpowered the jalapeño and brisket flavors. * Sides: Beans and elote were fine, but nothing stood out. The tater bomb was fun to try but more of a novelty than a must-order. They also have big Red..iykyk Overall: We waited about an hour, which seems standard for a popular BBQ spot. If you're looking for barbecue in Colorado, this is a good option. If you're craving authentic Texas barbecue, it's close... but not quite there yet.

As a Texas transplant because of the military. This place is absolutely delicious, you would be lucky to find great food like this in Texas. Their menu is awesome, I started with the Trinity, Texas twinkie, and the pecan cobbler. Portions and taste were great. You have yourself a regular. Just a heads up if you want some great BBQ come early to get in line.

What is there to say that hasn't been said before? This is hands down the best bbq in the springs. I 100% understand the hype after trying them today. The meat is fall apart tender while having an unreal amount of flavor. The sides all have just as much care put into them that the meat does. Desserts as well! Not one detail about the food is forgotten about. While it might be cheesy...it's definitely true, you can taste the passion in the food here. I don't think any other bbq spot will be seeing us again after coming here. That's not a diss to them more so a compliment to Chuckwagon.

I had been seeing great reviews on my local fb foodies page of this place. So my husband and I gave it a try on Sunday after church. When we got there the line was already circled around in the restaurant and to the door. It's not large space for indoor seating but they do offer inside and outside picnic tables. When you get to the front of the counter you place your order. They have a regular menu and one with specials. So much to choose from and it smelled heavenly. They serve it as a to go order. We ordered a quarter pound each of the turkey, brisket (what they are known for), pulled pork, & sausages. Oh and a couple of Twinkies( stuffed jalapeños with brisket). It was all great with good flavor. The staff were super friendly. We will be back

Amazing! This place is so legit. The baked potato "Tater bomb" was insane. I've never seen a potato this big. They made mine veggie for me with so much cheese, chives and sour cream. My husband enjoyed the tray of all their different meat options. Hard for him to pick a favorite. The owner Jared is incredibly nice and we will definitely be back! Thank you so much!

This place is great. We go frequently and have tried so many different things, all have been excellent. I know the line can be long, but you can also order ahead before 10 am and they will hold items for you. In fact, my husband was gone for my birthday and I texted an order to them. When I got there, it was a simple pick up. The kicker, they comped my prime rib dinner. They didn't know it was my birthday, but maybe they picked up on something, because they said there was no charge! What restaurant does that?! I got home and the prime rib was so thick and delicious that I got 3 meals out of it. These folks are the best in town and treat their customers right. Thanks Chuckwagon!

My daughter suggested this place & she told us you gotta get there early & they are only open from 12-3 & once they sell out the day is done . We love our TX bbq & this place is absolutely phenomenal. We tried this place the first week we were in the Springs & again the day we left Colorado going back to California. Chuckwagon 719 there team members here are very friendly, fast, and efficient! This place is very clean , small area , Tx motif which is just super cute. Everything on the menu is a must try & if you like brisket definitely try the wagu it's worth the price . It's so tender & moist . My daughter loves the Tx Twinkies , side items are very good & whatever you pick you won't go wrong! We will definitely be back b/c I need to try the bbq beans & sandwiches . We left on Thursday & took our leftovers on our trip back to CA. Holy Cow the best leftover dinner ever when we were sitting in the car charging. The quantity of food is more than plenty & definitely enough to share .

The best bbq in Colorado Springs hands down. Pulled pork that is juicy and flavorful and brisket that melts in your mouth. Not to forget their peach cobbler that will make you cry it's so good. Only problem is they are so good they sell out each day so go early!

I am not usually someone who tries new bbq places because, lets face it, most are "eh". But I saw the multiple smokers and as a Texan of course I had to see for myself and let me say... SOOO GOOD!! Best coleslaw Ive had in years (including in TX) the burger I got is not dry at all and is PACKED with flavor and food. Felt like I was with friends with that southern hospitality. Y'all have made a loyal customer out of me cant wait to try more.

This is by far my most favorite place in Colorado Springs the family is delightful and became like family when I was there I think about their smoked brisket burgers daily and yeah the lines are kinda long but I tell you what it is worth every minute and then some allllll of their food is to die for drive over and experience some real southern TEXAS flavor babe you won't regret it

From the moment we rolled up, we could smell the authentic Texas barbecue in the air. This Colorado Springs restaurant is currently serving out of a food truck but is moving into their permanent location on May 17. They serve an operate family style. The menu is everything you would hope for from an authentic Texas barbecue restaurant. We ordered the Texas Trinity plate and two Texas Twinkies. Later, we got the brisket mac & cheese. All of it was de-stinkin-licious. The ribs were so juicy and they pulled off the bone. The brisket was smoky, melt-in-your-mouth tender, seasoned perfectly, and the fat was beautifully caramelized. But the garlic pepper jack sausage was truly a treat. Needless to say, there was no leftover sausage. The Texas Twinkies were stuffed with brisket and cream cheese and wrapped in bacon and smoked to where the jalapeño pepper was tender, and the bacon was crispy and the structure was impeccable. The coleslaw was sweet and crisp and creamy. I loved this side dish. But the baked beans are a must try. They are flavored so well. I even heard a man say while we were eating that the beans were the best that he has had in years. I'd have to agree. They were pretty epic. The brisket mac & cheese comes in a full bowl. It's super cheesy and the macaroni is perfectly cooked. The brisket is an amazing compliment to this dish. It's a bowl full of comfort food. They have a side table with pickled jalapeño peppers, pickled red onions, and hamburger pickle slices. All of their breads that come with their sandwiches or their plates are made from scratch from the bakery next-door. There were several other menu items that we have not had a chance to try, but we will absolutely go back. We also bought several loaves of homemade bread from the bakery next-door. This restaurant is open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There's more things I want to try that they dish up. So I know we will be going back to Colorado Springs soon. Also, if you're driving in from out of town, give them a call and let them know your order in advance and they will have it packed up for you ready to go . Customer service was amazing. This is the sweetest family ever. I highly recommend giving them a try. And you can attend their ribbon-cutting on May 17 for their new brick and mortar restaurant.

Beyond impressed with the Chuckwagon 719! This is by far the best BBQ in town, and I am from Texas so I am very picky about my BBQ. This place is legit! The wait is quite long, so be prepared and get there early.

This place is GREAT!!! We got there about 30 min before closing, and they were out of some things. This is a good sign IMO. We did have pork ribs, brisket, Mac, beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. All were excellent...another good sign. Staff was so nice, and offered several "extras" to make up for what wasn't available. Next time we'll get there earlier, and if you haven't tried this place, pretty sure you'll love it. And, call early to order ahead. Thanks for the outstanding meal and time with family.

Other than the wait..., ALL MEATS taste amazing. Side(s), other than the baked beans, are an acquired taste. All and all food/customer service was amazing! I WILL BE BACK...

This place is literally off the hook good. Get there early it's worth the wait and money. This is everything BBQ should be. The system they have in place from the time you order to the time you get your food is great. Everyone inside woks together and gets food out very fast. The owners should be very proud of the staff. Good job Chuckwagon. Keep it up.

I've been wanting to try this spot but they are usually only open while I'm working, was off today & craving bbq so I thought I'd go try it out. There was already a line at a quarter to noon (open from 12-3 or until sold out) The line moved quickly & when I went up to order I ordered: 1) 3-meat platter for my hubby with bread, beans & Mac n cheese 2) pork ribs, bread, elote & beans for my mom 3) brisket elote (brisket on the side) & a Texas Twinkie for me. Plus 2 sweet teas. Total was a little over $70 incl tip not bad for good bbq - so let's get to the taste. All of the meat was smoked, juicy & perfectly seasoned. My favorite was the brisket I loved the cook in it and they serve thick slices of it which to me is perfect. The beans were good, jalapeños and some seasonings in there so that's a plus, the Texas Twinkie was delicious - my favorite item just the perfect amount of brisket in the filling, the bacon was perfectly cooked (no raw pieces) and it maintained its integrity when I cut it up into slices to eat- I loved it. The elote wasn't for me personally. I like my corn fresh (I could tell this was canned) and I don't like cilantro in a Mexican street corn, the limes (IMO) should not be in the corn because it dries them out and you get no juice (my moms was the same) and I would be loved some acid to cut thru the creaminess of the sauce. It was tasty but not something I would order again. The service was great & I loved how everyone worked in such a rhythm and had a great vibe going between them all.

I've long been a fan of Chuckwagon. We moved to Colorado from Texas during Covid and let me tell you, we missed being able to go have great bbq for lunch. When I heard there was a new Texas bbq trailer in town, we quickly hit them up and damn, we were so happy! It was legit! In the last year I have gotten to be great friends with the owners. It feels great to support to true family owned and operated business. The great bbq is just a bonus. If you have never been to Chuckwagon, you owe it to yourself to get there soon! Lines super long. They run out before half the line is served. No regard for disabled ppl that cannot stand in line.

As a native Texan I can assure you that this is the only legit TX BBQ in The Springs! Get there early and expect a line, then be a true Texan and order your brisket moist.

At long last... some good ole Texas BBQ... in Colorado Springs! These folks @chuckwagon719 not only make some incredible food (OMG - Texas Twinkies and Brisket Mac & Cheese? Get out!) but they're wonderful people too! And right next door there an amazing bakery that makes incredible sourdough bread and other treats too. This is well worth the drive - so what are you waiting for? The Chuckwagon 719's official ribbon-cutting grand opening is May 17th when they move into their NEW building. So mark your calendars!

Place is pretty amazing, and you can tell from the crowds, its a favorite in town. Its located in an off the beaten path little strip mall, which you would think might affect the business and traffic flow. Absolutely not. The line regularly reaches the door. On this last trip, i tried the brisket burger. It was heavenly. you cant really go wrong here. if you are going for lunch, plan for the line, but also plan to go early. they regularly sell out.

Didn't love it. I asked for extra lean brisket but still got a good amount of fat on my portion. Had to wait in line for 20 minutes, and the food was unremarkable. $33 per pound for brisket and $9 for 16 ounces of mac and cheese. You definitely get a better result out of a 99 cent box from Kraft.

WE HAVE GOOD BBQ IN THE SPRINGS FINALLY!!! These guys use Wagyu for their briskets just like all of the best spots across Texas use. If you've ever been to any of the top spots in the hill country and loved that, you will not be disappointed. And yes, just like those places, since bbq doesn't reheat well, they only make what they're sure they'll sell so there is a chance they'll run out. Pretty standard. Get there early, and enjoy.

This is truly my favorite spot to eat in Colorado springs, the staff are all extremely friendly, it might be the only place I can listen to classic country music and enjoy a meal and finally, the food is absolutely phenomenal. I truly wish I could support this business with more than just one review. personal favorite is the brisket mac & cheese

Hands down the best BBQ in the springs, probably Colorado, but I can only definitively say in the springs. And that includes Manitou/OCC. Genuine Texas BBQ, friendly staff. They're done selling when they sell out. Get there early, there's always a line.

Got "the holy trinity" for my family tonight, and we were NOT disappointed! The brisket was unbelievable. Soooo tender & juicy. Their sweet and spicy bbq sauce was top tier and the elote was gone in a flash! They also offer military and first responder discounts! 10/10 recommend.

Great people. We were excited about our visit but sooo disappointed in the meet quality. So fatty was the meat that three of us didn't eat all of it. The brisket was saturated in fat and even though we cutaway large amounts of fat. We are bbq hunters and we have eaten at bird dog, front range, mission, and Otis. All are far superior in quality. Sadly, I threw away 1/2 rack of pork ribs.... So much fat that it wasn't desirable. Unless Thursday was a fluke all other bbqs we mentioned are sooo much better. Chuck wagon719's is all hype and excitement. Sorry Chuck wagon we were under your spell but now we see and you gotta due better ...cause we bbq hunters won't be back

Best BBQ in town. Argue with your momma! Must try items: -Brisket -Texas Twinkie -Cowboy Rib Eye/Prime Rib (beats anything from Mckenzie's for sure) -Cobbler (Any of them) -Dino Bone is as big as your forearm Bread is fresh from the bakery next door. Customer service is A-1. No better place for BBQ in the Springs! DO IT! ‍

We didn't get a pic of the food but the amazing owner Deidre took a pic with my mom who is visiting from Texas. My cousin and my parents were beyond blown away by the BBQ and all of the sides and deserts. They were in fact so impressed by the food they were calling everyone at home to brag! My dad said he's moving here just to eat the BBQ from The Chuckwagon . My cousin said "I had to come all the way to CO just to have the BEST TX bbq that I've ever had". The entire menu is a win! So to everyone who hasn't tried their DELICIOUS food, you are missing out! Thanks again to Jared, Deidre and the whole family for feeding a bunch of hungry Texans.

Best bbq in Colorado no question asked from the food and price point you can't go wrong

We went to The Chuckwagon 719 soon after the article in the newspaper came out. There was quite a long wait even though it was after normal lunchtime. We ordered 1 Bone of Beef Rib ($40), the 2 meat plate with Brisket and Sausage; beans for a side. All meat options are gluten free. None of the sides (even the beans have beer as an ingredient). I learned later you can order meat by the pound. The bbq was good, although not great. The beef rib and brisket were dry and not as well-seasoned as I like. The sausage had small pieces of cheese inside that were still intact (not melted) which made the sausage chewy and a strange mouth-feel. We will try the restaurant again now that the newspaper article traffic has likely decreased.

There is nothing like standing in line to get into a bbq joint that is about to kick off. Smelling the post oak smoke and seeing Texas twinkies going into a pan straight from the smoker. An absolute experience accompanied by great service and damn good bbq. I'm glad these folks took up root here. Wishing continued success!

Great food- taste and serving portions! So good I went twice in a week! I loved the pork ribs, baked potatoes with brisket, and pulled pork sandwich. The portions are large!!!

Their bbq is award winning to me. I shouldn't review it at all because the lines are already really long. The tender and well smoked brisket is worth the wait. Coleslaw and beans are so tasty. Not an afterthought like some places. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I can't wait to go back again.

I've got to say that this is probably the best BBQ I have had in my life. ive never had texas bbq but i can only imagine this is as close as ill get to the real thing! i had the pulled pork sandwich with one pork rib and im not gonna lie, i was so full all day that it was definitely worth it! i paid about 35$ for 2 combos + 2 ribs and me and wife couldnt even finish it all and had some leftovers!

easily one of the best bbq places i've ever gone to, we bought the beef ribs, the little ones, big as hell, exspensive- but worth every dime, one-two for a man is plenty to order, thick with meat, brisket was good, not the best i've ever had (Blacks in Tx.) but good enough, the burger was incredable, i was not expecting that, we bought four & had 2 the next day & they were still one of the best burgers i've ever had, * call in your order ahead of time, get there 1/2 hr. before they open, the line is long, they are sometimes out items before they open, but, 5 out of 5 or 4.999 out of 5 easy.

This food was completely worth waiting for 40 minutes in line. I brought home some ribs for my dad and after I asked him what he thought he said it makes me never want to make ribs again because it can't compare to this.

Best BBQ in the Springs! If you want to sample meats get the Trinity. Juicy and Flavorful. The sides are SO delicious also, beans, brisket Mac and cheese, tater bomb, etc very impressed. We also had one of their desserts. Pecan crumble. Amazing. Don't waste your time at some corporate bbq chain that's so so. This is where it's at! LOVE this place Recommend getting there right when they open, usually a long line.
