On New Year’s Eve, my friend and I randomly walked into a small bistro because we wanted to have some drinks. To our surprise, the atmosphere was incredibly cozy, the staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious. The fish in the fish and chips was fried to perfection, super crispy. We asked the waiter to randomly mix two drinks for us, and both turned out great. I especially loved my English sticky toffee pudding—such a unique flavor I had never tasted before.

Google
The service was friendly and fast, and it was a cute little pub. Very clean and cute decorations. The lunch menu had very few gluten-free options. Their burgers have gluten in the patty (but this information was not available online when I checked beforehand), so I couldn't have a burger, which is usually something you can count on being gluten-free at a pub. I got the spinach with chick pea pancake. It was really good, but not very filling, especially given the price.

Google
Very nice and good place in Downtown London, ON. As a French I'm usually disappointed by food in restaurants in Canada but this one did not. We shared appetizers (pulled pork hush puppies and smoked mushrooms dip) then I got the burger. All were perfectly cooked, savory and with a nice presentation. It will become my go-to place when in London, ON.

Google
Seems like a great place. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish but the vegetable curry was terrible. Sour and bitter. Paid a lot for a dish that I could barely get down. That being said I was with a group of friends and didn’t want to be that person that complained about the meal. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the food. Not sure I would go back unfortunately

Google
Amazing food, fantastic service. Will definitely go ahead and highly recommend!!

Google
I love this place! I have been twice on this work trip with two groups of friends and the food, drinks, and service were top notch both times. The cock-a-leekie cottage pie can't be beat but the venison was so close.

Google
The food was good, both in quality and quantity. I’m vegetarian and ordered vegetarian curry which was yumi and spicy enough (not too hot and tasty). My family ordered duck, pork rib, burger, and asparagus soup, and everybody was happy and satisfied. The staff are so friendly and nice.

Google
Food was excellent, nice pub atmosphere without the loudness, service was very good. We ate ate the bar and were very comfortable. Make reservations if you want a table.

Yelp
LOVED this place, a must try if you are passing through! (We are from the U.S and I would happily come back to Canada for another meal here). We came in for lunch one day (on our drive back home) after seeing their menu online, and fell in love with the charm of the place and the amazing service. Our waitress was so nice and we immediately felt welcome. The menu had a great selection of food (which didn't take long to arrive at all) and it all tasted amazing! The hush puppies are a must-get, and the Ploughman's Plate was devoured in seconds - I wish I had a recipe for the marmalade and jam that came with it! We ordered a single "kids sized" version of the fish and chips and still got a very large portion (thank goodness for that because we all wanted to try a bite it was so good!). Also ordered the salmon-wrapped scallops and practically inhaled them. I can't state enough how great the quality of the food and service was. Plus amazing parking right outside.

Yelp
Make reservations for a friday night, it gets busy here. We stopped in based in the review score. The greeter was very nice and the wait staff as well. The place has a nice decor and mood. Now the food... not very good. Onion soup had no flavour, 1 star. The fish n chips also had weak seasoning, 2 stars, and the scallops were the highlight at 3 stars. I'd bump up the ratings if the food was reasonably priced, but it's on the expensive side.

Chloe B.

Yelp
The food here is delicious. I got the Ruben sandwich - 9.5/10! You can sense the chefs care and attention to detail when curating the menu as you look it over. Service was attentive, very friendly, didn't hover and the restaurant itself is cozy but feels elevated in its decor. Church-key is a place I'd happily return to again.

Candis E.

Yelp
I literally stumbled in with my bike in tow after a lovely day biking on the Thames. Simply amazing staff... so accommodating and friendly! Had one pint to cool down... don't normally see London Pride outside the UK on draft... this was a great treat! The Thai shrimp and the lamb curry chips were delish! Shrimp was cooked to perfection. The chili sauce was spicy and fantastic. The curry chips were amazing and the curry was full of flavor but not spicy. Would certainly return on my next visit!

Yelp
Every city would benefit from a Church Key Bistro. It is THE perfect small size for intimate moments with friends, the staff is deeply knowledgeable and ultra-welcoming, and the food! The food is just really really solid, ever so slightly elevated pub fare. I strongly recommend you don't cheap out if you get the steak and add the $4 slice of Stilton. It absolutely makes the meal.

Brittany V.

Yelp
Phenomenal food! I got the rolled pork tortierre! It was easily the best meal I had this whole trip! Definitely recommend! They have good beer too!

Louisa B.

Yelp
This place was awesome!! I went with my family and the service was fantastic (almost as good as the food). My dad is a priest so of course he wanted to go here and I was a bit skeptical because, well, I'm his daughter, but truly delightful. Try the Korean short ribs. Yeah. American approved. Thank you, Canada!

Bruce W.

Yelp
Wow ! Great food!!! I had a London Pride beer. Haven't had that since being in the UK. They have some gluten free options and vegetarian. Cute pub! Love the ambiance just hanging out.

Linda R.

Yelp
Fabulous service in a cozy upscale pub; Great food and wine selections. We were not rushed by the Staff. Definitely recommend.

Schen W.

Yelp
Wonderful food and ambience. Had yummy drinks and dinner with friends. Had the mai tai which was very good. The bacon wrapped scallops, mussels and the bacon, steak Mac and cheese were also very good. We got double orders of the scallops and could have had 3 or 4. 3 friends enjoyed their lamb curry. We sat in the outdoor patio which was cozy and charming...just lit up enough. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came here on a first date and was pretty impressed. The atmosphere was a comfortable moody and service was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter didn't skip a beat of water refills, food timing, and knowing when when it was time to bill out. Went on a Wednesday evening so it wasn't packed by any means. but still had some traffic which is always nice to see at local places. They have a pretty awesome deal on Wednesdays as well, which just happened to work out for the date, where 2 people can get a whole bottle of wine, share an appetizer, an entree each, and get their set dessert for $95 - which is an absolute steal! We grabbed their Chardonnay, which was light and tasty, and split the zucchini poppers - which I totally recommend and could've had two or three more servings of those bad boys. I ordered the Pulled Pork for dinner, which are BBQ pork open-faced sliders on a cornbread style bun with fries on the side. The pork itself was delicious, but the bun was a bit heavy combined with fries. The pork was topped with what seemed to be a sort of shaved pickled red cabbage, which was okay but I think would be better with a fresh coleslaw to lighten the meal up as it felt quite heavy as it was. My date got the stuffed chicken which looked good and he cleaned his plate so I would say that's a good sign! We got our dessert to go because I really hit a wall with my entree and there was no way I could scarf down anything else, which says a lot for me because I have a huge sweet tooth. Overall would definitely come back!

Yelp
Great food and fair prices. Enojyed the service in the entertaining setting. Great place to hang out with friends and co-workers.

Karen L.

Yelp
Very pleasant experience last night. Perfect night to dine outside on their patio. The shrimp scampi was delicious and husband loved the Steam Whistle draft. Servers were very attentive.

Anjan C.

Yelp
This place is a contemporary Canadian bistro that is loved by locals. Even during week days place would be busy with families and friends. It can be a great venue for dates and peaceful conversations. The drink menu is contemporary accompanied by great tasting appetizers. We shared all items to try out different varieties. I highly recommend salmon wrapped scallops and farmers platter. We will visit again.

Linda S.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere. A perfect place to go before attending the Grand Theatre.

Dliese J.

Yelp
My husband & I stopped for lunch on a rainy day because of the help reviews. We were driving from Detroit to the Niagara Falls. We had no reservations but were seated immediately (12 noon before the crowd). The service was friendly, efficient & helpful. We shared authentic fish & chips, onion soup & a Canadian ale. Absolutely delicious!! Small, cozy ambience. It got a bit noisy during lunchtime but I highly recommend driving a bit off the highway to enjoy local fare

Paul B.

Yelp
Really pleasant experience here and would highly recommend if in the area. I had the smoked turkey sandwich. Ah may zing!!

Rebecca A.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I were looking for a place to eat outside of work hours, and The Church Key did not disappoint. We sat on the beautiful, enclosed patio under a string of lights and surrounded by greenery. We did not feel at all like we were downtown which was a welcomed surprise. The food and drinks were delicious, and we barely had to wait between drinks. Highly recommend!

Karen C.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place. We went for lunch. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us. The staff was very friendly. The food came quickly and was really good. Highly recommend!

Jodi V.

Yelp
Stopped here on a recent business trip and the place was amazing. It's not a large space so would suggest reservations if it's a weekend, we went on a Tuesday night that was raining so it wasn't super busy. It should be though cuz the food was awesome. I had the ale and onion soup and beef skewers. Both were delicious but I could eat the beef skewers every day. The pretzel bread they bring out is also very good. The curry was tasty and I heard the burger was award winning.

Antoinette O.

Yelp
It has been a place for celebrations, entertaining and fun date ideas over the years. I've celebrated birthdaya, hosting friend, Mother's Day and just a fun night out or lunch date here over the years. Great staff, ambiance environment and delicious filling food.

Yelp
In town on my 2nd week of business here and I finally get to try this place since it was closed last week for renovations. I paid this place 4 visits and each time I was able to see why this is the #1 most rated and highest rated restaurant in London, ON. I shall tell you why! Atmosphere/Appearance: Right off of Richmond and across the street from the theater is this place. With a very pub-like atmosphere it's calming, soothing, relaxing and a very nice place to chill on out. It's not the biggest establishment so you don't really feel lost in there. I can't quite remember the kind of music that was playing, but if I don't then it must've been okay. Lol. Service: Brett, Kaptain and one other bartender took excellent care of be during my multiple visits there. I never wanted for anything, they made me feel at home and made excellent recommendations along with great drinks. Food: So I did mention I came here 4 times right? I tried a LARGE part of the menu and they never missed a beat. It was unbelievable and everything was so delicious. I'll go through them in the order I had them including drinks. I started with a Whiskey Sage Smash and it was delicious. It was sweet, sour and had a good kick. That day I also had the Salmon Wrapped Scallops, Lamb Meatballs and Jerk Beef Skewers. Those scallops were incredible. I've never had salmon WRAPPED AROUND SCALLOPS. Do you hear me?! Amazing. They were so good I had them on 2 separate days. The lamb meatballs were good, but they wouldn't be my first choice next time. They reminded me of a deconstructed gyro with the mint, tzatziki sauce and everything! The skewers were great as well, savory, a hint of spice and a bit of sweetness from the pineapple-cucumber salsa. On day 2 I started with the Church Key Negroni and I don't really remember it that well. It didn't stand out to me. What I DO remember was that incredible Corned Beef & Cabbage! It is house cured and cooked for 72 hours with pan juices on potato puree with cider braised red cabbage. AH-MAZING. Day 3 started with the Black Forest Martini, which was a lot smaller than I thought... but was still tasty. It wasn't very strong and felt more like a dessert drink with its chocolaty flavor. I also started with the Spanish Ribs which were really, really good. They were succulent, sweet and meat was literally falling off of the bone. I followed that up with the Whiskey Glazed Salmon. It was a much larger portion than I expected and I was so pleased with the tenderness of the fish. The sides threw me off just a bit since they were potato rosti and a Dijon-apple-fennel slaw served cold. I really liked it. My last day I had the Ocho Fashion. I also don't remember this drink, but it made for a tasty addition to my salmon scallops (yes, the 2nd time) and the Coq Au Vin. I had a hard time figuring out how to pronounce this name, but it's chicken breast supreme prepared sous vide and infused with thyme then it's topped with cremini mushroom & bacon marsala sace served alongside a potato & leek custard. I loved it. All the flavors meshed together so well and the portion was big. This place did not miss a single beat. Value: All prices are in $CAD. Whiskey Sage Smash = $10.00 Church Key Negroni = $11.00 Black Forest Martini = $11.00 Ocho Fashion = $10.00 Salmon Wrapped Scallops = $13.50 Lamb Meatballs = $11.70 Jerk Beef Skewers = $14.30 Corned Beef & Cabbage = $24.50 Spanish Spareribs = $14.00 Whiskey Glazed Salmon = $26.50 Coq Au Vin = $26.50 Not too-too bad, but you get what you pay for and that's top quality food here at The Church Key Bistro-Pub. If you're from America or Europe then your dollar will stretch quite far here and things will seem relatively inexpensive. It makes a great date-night spot or place just to come hang out with friends! In conclusion, I loved this place. I may go out on a limb and say it's my favorite of the places I ate in London. They were firing on all cylinders and really made this place worth of a visit. I hope that you get to check them out as well.

Sara K.

Yelp
Great spot! Only thing was there was no kids menu which is why I gave 4 stars but the food had unique tastes

Austin B.

Yelp
Great little spot for good food and merry drinks. Has the vibe of an old church but with lots more spirit!

Azra G.

Yelp
Did not make it with fresh products Chicken was too dry, over fried Not recommend But my daughter was happy with her meal

Yelp
BOOK IN ADVANCE. We tried coming here last year and it was fully booked. We called in on Monday for a Friday evening reservation. Sure enough, the restaurant was full within 10 minutes of us sitting down. To be fair, there aren't that many tables, but it is definitely one of the more popular dining places downtown. My boyfriend ordered: 1) Irish Enchiladas 2) Roasted Hen with Potatoes and Squash (Game of the Week Special) The Irish Enchiladas come with an extremely spicy chili lime sauce, which I definitely could not handle. He was definitely more impressed with his appetizer, as the weekly special fell short of a great meal. I ordered: 1) Salmon Wrapped Scallops 2) Veal Cheek Pot Roast I, on the other hand, loved both my dishes. Portions could have been slightly larger, but I loved the taste of both. Veal is not something I have very often, so I was impressed with the richness of the meat. The service here is fantastic, and there was a nice buzz in the air throughout the evening. I won't be in London for much longer, but I will aim to be back in the wintertime to try a few more dishes.

Susan W.

Yelp
The Sunday brunch is amazing! The menu changes weekly and comes w a basket of delicious pastries, complimentary coffee/ tea and discounted drinks. Was very impressed with the flavours and portion size of my entree. Only downside I saw was the lack of vegetarian options. There were 2 options involving beef, 2 with chicken and another w salmon. Sitting outside on their patio on a warm summer morning was the best way to start my Sunday. Looking forward to coming back.

Maeyen C.

Yelp
Late review: Decided to meet up with my family who was visiting for the weekend. They came all the way from Mississauga and this was their first meal and let us just say, they were happy and full! We got a bunch of dishes including their lunch special which was a pork dish (can't remember the exact name of it), lamb curry and their bistro burger. Everything came together and we're cooked really well! Our server was also very friendly and helpful!

Doreen W.

Yelp
Stopped in on our way to Niagara Falls. Excellent appetizers of coconut shrimp and salmon wrapped scallops. Amazing! Also spiced old fashioned was perfect for dipping and warming up. Great location and fabulous friendly service. Want to come back for dinner.

Kristie W.

Yelp
I feel so blessed for acquiring a table here on a Friday night! The food here is incredible! Starting with the fresh-out-of the oven bread with grainy mustard butter: this beyond satisfied my famished stomach. Our appetizer was the Privavera Shrimp. It sounds so simple but was extraordinary! The five juicy grilled prawns atop a bed of cheese and tomato sauce went hand-in-hand with the baguette. My main was the trout risotto. I was impressed that I was given a filet of trout rather than morsels mixed in to the risotto! The trout was nicely done--not overcooked, yay! The risotto was rich, creamy and filling--maybe a bit too rich (if you believe that exists). I am glad that they sprinkled some fresh raw greens on top to balance out my meal. I'll be back!

Yang J.

Yelp
We went there with our friend's family on my birthday night and also the night before ride with Thomas event. We reserved the table the week before and made it on time. Our friends decided to join us the last min so the manager said he couldn't find our reservation. We arrived 5 mins after so they didn't wait for us for too long. Everything is lovely except that the service is a bit of slow-paced pub speed. Lamb enchiladas was amazing!!! Salmon wrapped scallops are yummy, better than traditional bacon-wrapped once; Rice pudding--my son ate some, and asked for "cake and strawberry jam on top" the next day, amazing for a picky ASD kiddo; Red sangria tasted the same as The keg; My short rib is amazing, tender and flavorful, I tasted a little oriental twist in the dressing; side salad is amazing. My husband was amazed by their duck risotto (special of the night) and has been looking for Italian restaurant that serve nice risotto since we can back to Toronto; Macaroni and steak/ham? I ordered it for the kiddos, they both ate some, I'm not a big fan. My friends were impressed by the food and presentation. Even though they came after early dinner they still shared a lot with us and wanted order more....

Ada G.

Yelp
This is a really nice pub in downtown London with a pretty decent drinks and food menu. I've been here a few times and I always end up ordering the same thing! I LOVE the mussels here ($13.70), I've had them with both the leek and lager beer sauce and the Parmesan and white wine sauce. The latter is quite rich, but so good with the complimentary pretzel bread (some of the best free bread in the city - it's served warm and it's hard on the outside, super soft on the inside). My friend usually gets the burger and says it's also quite well done. If you're looking for a slightly nicer but still low key night out, would definitely recommend this place! They also have a cute outside patio area that's lovely in the spring and summer. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Paula F.

Yelp
Where to eat in London? HERE for sure. We were on the back end of a road trip and London was a layover - I was not expecting to be treated to one of the finest meals on our week-long trip. It's a cute pub, busy on a chilly Wednesday night and kind of loud. I always like to try a local brew when available and an amber type was perfect. I love that they had the 10 oz size as I get tired of any beer past 12 oz. We sat at the friendly bar until a table opened up, and as it was by the window, the noise level was immediately tolerable. So many tasty options on the menu, but hubby went with the fish and chips and I got the Trout risotto. Tasty pretzel bread and dijon butter arrived fast, then lovely plates of fantastic food. The trout had the skin all crispy, arugula on top, fennel-citrus perfectly done risotto underneath. Perfect. I never got a bite of hubby's fish but he said it was amazing and the fries were abundant and not terribly greasy (therefore wonderful). I heartily recommend this place when visiting London! Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. A+

Victor L.

Yelp
Amazing food, everything my party ordered was incredibly delicious. The atmosphere is great for small groups or dates. Service was great too. My only complaint would have to be that I wish their washrooms were larger! Everything else was perfect. I would definitely love to come back. Tips for future-goers, make sure you make a reservation cuz this place is in high demand.

Pramita C.

Yelp
I came here for a birthday lunch with coworkers. I enjoyed the food (I got the special) and the atmosphere. (Can you tell I'm writing this on a Friday evening? Sorry, I'll try to pick it up!). So, we made reservations and went around 11:45 - just enough time to beat the lunch rush on a Tuesday. This place is wildly popular (at least during weekday lunches). The food is a BIT pricey and the portions are a bit smaller (but really, enough food for lunch)...however, the ambiance is classier and I think it's worth it for a birthday lunch. I look forward to coming here again - the drinks menu looks great! They also have a brunch which I'd definitely try...

Cony Q.

Yelp
Great place to have meal, not expensive but Delicious. The appetizer is already enough for a person. Very busy at night. The special dessert is a little bit wired at that night... but we tried each dessert, the chocolate cake is great.

Alan A.

Yelp
Pretzel Bread was good Entree - Ordered the game: Venison 3/5 Was not what I expected, it was shreds of meat with pasta. It was alright, not delicious. Dessert - Passion fruit creme brulee 4/5 Citrusy, interesting addition to a standard creme brulee

Cyndie C.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner while overnighting in London. Great beer menu! Enjoyed the fries with curry sauce as an appetizer. DD liked the mac and cheese with pork loin, HH LOVED his pork belly stew - sort of a pot roast. The bread served with it was out of this world. I had the burger with caramelized onions and tomato jam. Great atmosphere. Was crowded, but we were seated without a reservation. Service was great.

Sang J.

Yelp
I went to this place last night with a girlfriend and it was amazing! It wasn't very busy but the food and service was great! I would also like to thank the servers as my girlfriend and I ended up being a bit high maintenance with first wanting to sit outside on the patio then the mosquitos got bad so we moved to a different table thinking being away from the plants would help. Once we still were getting bit, we asked to move inside. Not once did the servers make us feel bad for moving and were in high spirits the whole time, so I would like to say thank you for that. We had the mushroom dip as an appetizer and it was so good, lots of flavor. My girlfriend got the lamb curry and she was not disappointed. I got the smoked turkey Alfredo and it also did not disappoint. We shared a bottle of wine and I found the bill to be appropriate. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu and their brunch!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Normally I don't review restaurants I never got to eat at, but in this case, I will make an exception. One of my biggest pet peeves is when businesses do not adhere to their stated hours and close randomly or whenever they feel like it. It really, really bugs me. An emergency or something I can understand but closing because you want to or because things are slow is not acceptable. We walked into Church Key and were told (after waiting around awkwardly for a couple of minutes), "We have had a change in our schedule. The kitchen is currently undergoing maintenance, so if you would like food, we cannot accommodate you that way." UHHH well gee, I am at a restaurant... so yeah, I think I want food. Yelp and the Church Key website both state that they are open until 12am; this was around 9pm. There were people outside with food so they just have stopped serving food pretty recently. I hate when I plan my evening around a restaurant's hours, only to find they have been changed at random. 0 stars, seriously.

Jacqueline L.

Yelp
Anytime we're looking for a really good meal but don't feel like getting too fancy we usually choose the church key. They have a great atmosphere and theres lots of good things on the menu. From decadent grilled cheeses to salmon wrapped scallops they have it all. My favourites here are the fish and chips, the corned beef and the muscles. I also have a drink favourite that I get every time which is the Pim's cup.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
I usually get the lamb curry here since it's something I would never make at home. Always consistently good. A nice in-between when you want a place that's not too casual but not too formal.

Darren L.

Yelp
My father used to go here for coffee during his breaks and to relax with his co-workers. Went there while looking for a place to eat on the strip and decided to try this nostalgic location. Wife had the portabelo mushroom and I had the burger on the waitress' recommendation. Also ordered the sweet potato tempura. Both entrees were large and amazing. The appetizer was spectacular. The prices are a little higher than average but the portions and taste more than makes up for it.

Kristian U.

Yelp
During my last trip to London, I popped into this spot for a dinner meeting. It's a smaller place set in and down a few steps from the street level along Richmond street. The ambiance is cozy and warm which definitely matches their menu, a feel good sorta joint. Before even ordering the server came around and brought out an order of soft warm pretzel bread with a side of grainy mustard to snack on. The combination of flavours was amazing, a great start! The menu was filled with amazing choices and I seriously didn't know what to order first, or second, or seventh! So after asking our server for her advice I ended up going with the Buffalo/Bison meatloaf, which came with creamed spinach and a side of fluffy and light mashed potatoes. The meatloaf is amazing, you could only detect the slightest flavour of the gaminess from the bison but it was a juicy slice of meat without being fatty. The the meatloaf was seasoned perfectly and was extremely moist. Loved it! Paired with it's sides, it was a hearty sort of meal that sat heavy in my belly but the good kind of heavy when it's cold outside!! Overall, a great night (and best of all the price was right), I'm looking forward to my next visit to London so I can come back and try more of their menu out. Eatcrest Out!

Megan R.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and found this place for my parents. We had mixed reviews on our respective dishes, but my venison shepherds pie was five star worthy. Service and ambience were on point and street parking not too bad for a cold, rainy Saturday night

Anastasiya R.

Yelp
This is the best place I ate at during my one week stay in London. Came here with 3 co-workers for dinner on a Thursday night, around 9pm. Decor is lovely, it looks exactly like a bistro, with a bar and some tables with high-rise chair seating, and a couple of steps down you have regular dining seat with maybe 4-5 tables. It's not big, but very cozy and they have TVs if you feel like watching the game. It looks like a lot of ppl come here for drinks and desert and just to hang out and talk. The atmosphere is perfect for a date or to catch up with some old friend (friends). We were seated right away, given water and menus. THE BREAD! Omg they give you this warm, soft, delicious pretzel bread with dijon seeds butter. It was heaven, the bread was so warm and the butter just kinda melted on it... TIP: put some salt and pepper on the butter, or once you butter your bread (hehe), you won't want to eat anything else for the rest of the night. We ordered beef carpaccio and the guy ended up bringing us two because the chef made one by mistake. NOTE: I HATE ROOT BEER. this dish was supposed to have root beer sauce or something and i did not taste it at all. it was soooooo gooooooood. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Curry fries: fresh and crispy fries, big portion, with curry sauce and some pulled meat. Very naaaice. I ordered the beef cheek. I can't. I just can't. I can't eat anything else beef since...it was so soft, so perfectly cooked, on a bed of root veggies like potatoes and carrots and something else, covered in beefy gravy-like sauce, with watercress on top. Literally the best piece of beef i ever had in my life. Two of the guys i was with had burgers, with salad or fries. The burger had stilton cheese on it. Never had it, apparently it smells like a skunk farted into a really dirty sock but tastes like heaven and unicorns on a burger! The last dude had goat cheese ravioli. I don't like paste, he loved it so there you have it! Something for everyone. Prices were veeeery decent for the portion size and the kind of place this comes off to be. Burger was $16 and beef cheek was around $20-21. So worth it, if I ever come back to London I will definitely visit this place and try something else!!!! Service was great too btw. I think there were only two servers but ours was extremely helpful and friendly and quick!!

Yelp
Great place to get lunch with a friend. Its decor is like an upscale pub, which perfectly reflects its food. I had an open faced steak sandwich with grilled onions and peppers smothered in a buttermilk mornay sauce. The meat was tender, the bread got soggy from the sauce while still remaining crunchy on the exterior (just the way it should be!), and the dish overall was very flavourful. I also really enjoyed my side beet and goat cheese salad. The service was good, but the waiter never refilled my water. It seemed pretty busy for lunchtime on a weekday!

Yelp
Was staying at a hotel nearby and a relative recommended this place for lunch, brunch or whatever. As this particular relative has questionable tastes, I turned to Yelp and opted to go here based on Kris U's review. We entered the restaurant for lunch on a Saturday at around 12:30. The first impression is "Wow, this place is small", which unfortunately for us meant a substantial wait for a table. The woman who came to the door advised us that we could sit at the bar and dine there, or wait for a table. As we were starved and pressed for time, we opted to sit at the bar. I am NOT a huge fan of sitting at a bar or a counter, but when it's your only option, you make do. Let's start with the staff...they're all stellar. There weren't many working the floor (we counted 3....two men and a woman). We interacted at some point with all of them and each were fantastic. They were warm, engaging and seemed genuinely concerned that you enjoy your meal. Based on the bartenders recommendation, my partner ordered the Beef Stronganoff lunch special. It was black peppercorn beef on noodles, with sauce, sour cream and onions, for $15. With it he ordered a Bloody Caesar. He raved about the stroganoff...claimed the beef was tender, flavourful and ample. Despite the huge portion size, he woofed it all down and said it was one of the best he's ever had. The Caesar was spicy and a perfect accompaniment. I opted for the smoked turkey club. It was loaded with turkey, bacon, cheese, tomatoes and a wonderful honey Dijon mustard, all on a brioche bun, with a side order of fries. It was the perfect lunch for a rainy day. For $13, it was an excellent price considering the amount of food and quality you get. Warm ambiance, great staff, delicious food...we'll definitely go back if it the area again.
