Had a lovely weekend from the 26th -29th September at the City hotel. Lady at reception who checked us in was lovely as were all the staff. The only one negative was once we went to bar on the Friday night after checking in, we were told someone would be with us in a second. We waited 15 mins and then left without anyone coming near us. The 2 ladies were standing talking among themselves. We found a nice bar across the street so it was all good. Room was lovely and bed very comfortable. Would defiantely stay here again if we were back in the area.

A Great place to stay! A warm welcome, and a very nice room. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was perfect. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well equipped. The location of the hotel is very central for everything in Dunfermline. I will definitely be back, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. |Thank you to all the staff there for a lovely stay!

All good for us at the City Hotel in Sept 2025. A warm welcome and a quick and easy check in by Rebecca. And a useful tip about the free but very limited car parking at the back. Thank you. We had a comfortable, warm, and clean room on first floor at the back, and an extra duvet as previously requested, was in the room for our arrival. A good start. Yes… some low level noise from surrounding rooms… but nothing distracting. Good service in the bar during the early evening and a delicious traditional breakfast was served smoothly on quite a busy morning. I spotted a car leaving their parking area as we went to breakfast, so I moved our car and got a space for the day. Parking is not expensive… but this was small, positive bonus from Rebecca’s tip when we checked in. This is in a great location for walking out and about for the history and highlights in Dunfermline. |I see quite mixed reviews for this hotel…however it was all reasonable and a good stay for us. Thank you.

My 4th time staying at the City Hotel and as always everything was spot on.|A great room on the 1st floor, immaculately setup, warm, spotlessly clean and comfortable with all the amenities that you might need.|I knew the parking situation from previous stays and I was fortunate enough to get one of the spots in the back of the hotel so I had free parking for the weekend, the adjacent large car park however only costs £3:80 for all day parking (free at night) but be sure to get your ticket by 0800 the next morning if you’re staying more than one day.|One of my friends is disabled and doesn’t do stairs very well and as there is no lift or ground floor rooms he had a struggle to get to his room, if you have a severe disability you may want to call ahead and get some information.|The hotel is nicely situated for both site seeing and entertainment (the Abbey is well worth a visit) with plenty of eateries, bars and shops within easy walking distance and there’s 2 great bars and an excellent restaurant in the hotel itself. I recommend the City Hotel to anyone who is considering a trip to Dunfermline.

Just a word of warning do not stay in room 5 only managed 2 hours sleep. So noisy as the kitchen is below and there’s also an air conditioning unit directly under the window. Had to have bathroom and bedroom window open as well as a fan as so hot and also in the corridor it was extremely stifling. The staff are lovely. The room was clean but so hot and noisy.

In the heart of the city, with car park to the rear, shops and restraunts all within 10mins walk. Rooms are clean with a hearty breakfast. The glen is 200m away for a nice walk in the park. What more can you ask for really. Tip top.

(This review is not based on a hotel experience but rather a restaurant experience) I used to go to the city hotel all the time for food a couple years ago, was very impressed and would have given it a 5 star. Unfortunately it really has went downhill, I came with my family with bruschetta and Cajun chicken pasta on my mind (a dish I got religiously and loved). To my surprise both dishes had been taken off the menu, this made the decision on what to eat very challenging. I chose the chicken cesear salad and it was awful, chicken was hard and chewy, only salad in it was lettuce leaves and there was not enough sauce i on it- for £11 I expected a larger portion. Luckily for me, my family member did not eat all of their fish and offered me some or I would have went home hungry. I’m unsure why the Cajun chicken pasta was removed from the menu, it was delicious and to my knowledge a popular dish. Highly recommend adding it back to your menu and I won’t be back unless it does.

Great wee hotel in the historic centre of Dunfermline. |10 minutes walk from the Alhambra Theatre. Nearby is the Abbey and Palace, plus the magnificent Pittencrief Park.|Room was small, but ideal for an overnight stay.|Bed very comfortable. |Breakfast was delicious- large portions!|Recommend.
