Quite small and very modern museum. 3 story, shows tou prague history from 13th century to the 90s. Very rich history, from the Hasburgs to the post communist era. It's worth a visit, there was no queue. Good view from the top

The museum is small and underwhelming. It's not very welcoming, every exhibition room is behind closed doors(literally). It offers a history of the city of Prague but doesn't make it fun or interesting. The information is in Czech and English and is concise, I would say this is more of a locals museum or very interested tourists.

The museum is not very big and the entrance fee is almost high respect to the othe other museums such as prague echnical museum, also you have to pay fee for the taking photos. However, the 3d model was impressive and the technology via ring it was las nice.

A small and modest museum. You can spend around 1 - 1.5 hour. There were not so many visitors so it was quiet. The entrance fee is 150kc for adult.

The museum was quite nice although they maybe need to do some refurbishment in some rooms. I really liked the part about the start of Prague but I was disappointed to see that they stopped before our time. I was expecting to see every piece of the history of Prague. The staff of the museum was also very nice even though they did not speak English. They tried to explain us things and they really did everything to make our visit interesting. It was really nice of them!

Google
Nice museum which cover Prague history from prehistory to now. First part of the exhibition seems to be have been renovated recently, and is great. The second part looks older and is not as great, I hope they'll be renovate it too. They don't speak about modern history, too bad. Staff is nice and try to explain things, but their english is limited so it's kind of hard to communicate.

Yelp
If you're in Prague for the first time and only have a couple days, I wouldn't recommend spending your time here, it's better to absorb history while exploring the city. But if you're a return or longer-staying visitor -- or need an indoor activity -- this is a very well done museum telling the history of Prague from early settlement to the 20th century. All of the exhibits are logically laid out and have just the right amount of info in both Czech and English. Artifacts are numerous and contribute well. The building itself is a treasure, built specifically to house the museum over 100 years ago.

Yelp
I love going to museums, so decided to visit the City of Prague Museum. It's a relatively small museum, and the highlight of the museum is the model of Prague created by Antonín Langweil between 1826 and 1837 (http://en.muzeumprahy.cz/the-langweil-model-of-prague). However, other than the model, I didn't find the museum particularly exciting or interesting. If you happen to be in the area and have an hour or so to kill (you really don't need much time for this museum), definitely check it out. But I don't think the museum is worth a special trip. Instead, go to the National Technical Museum. (Unfortunately the National Museum, Národní Muzeum, was closed when I was in Prague.)

Yelp
Whenever we travel, my husband loves to visit City Museums. They generally aren't heavily visited but they often have fascinating stories to tell and excellent insights into local history. Such is the case with the Prague City Museum - the displays start in Neolithic times and trace the history of the city through modern times through art, decorative objects and artifacts. Displays here are heavy on the period from the Middle Ages through the Baroque area, when the city flourished. Unlike the US, you can expect "minders" in most of the rooms to make sure you don't touch (even though it's all behind glass) or take photos (unless you paid extra for the "photo permit"). We ran into a really friendly, English speaking docent who talked about her favorite treasures here - I always like to see passionate museum people. Also, you know that gorgeous sundial in the Old Town Square - the one 3 billion tourists are crowded around, snapping photos and getting their pockets picked? It's a reproduction - you can see the real one here, up close with not another tourist in sight. Priceless.
