Went to The Clachan Inn for lunch recently whilst staying in the nearby Fauld O Wheat Shepherds Hut. Lovely quaint little place with a fire burning and lovely staff. Drink choices were good, and some non alcohol options too. I had one of the best meals I have had in a long time here, I went with the Venison pasta and my husband had the fish and chips, both were so good! Staff were all friendly and welcoming and very attentive. Could not recommend this place enough!

Just had lunch at this superb Pub, staff were very welcoming also it’s dog friendly in the bar area where you can also eat. No car park but it’s easy to park anywhere in the village. I would advise to book a table as it’s not the biggest pub but very cosy with a roaring log fires in the bar & restaurant areas. I would certainly pop in when we are next in this lovely area.

Dalry (this one, not the other one) is a lovely wee village that's very easy to drive through without paying much attention to it. It's well worth parking up and having a nosey around though, and I can highly recommend a meal in The Clachan. It's not a cheap place to stop for a bite but it's well worth it. We had lunch here, lucky to get a table so if you can plan ahead, I would make a booking. There's usually a fire blazing in the bar through the winter, superb. Fun fact:I had my first in-pub alcoholic beverage here, a couple of decades ago. Malibu and coke.

Absolutely gorgeous meal and excellent service. The food is absolutely first class. The homemade giant oatcakes on the cheeseboard are incredible. Highly recommended.

We hadn't booked but were lucky to be offered a table for when food service started. Really lovely place with great staff and food. Wide selection of food from meat/fish to veg. Was difficult to choose because of the great choice of options. Everything was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I had the monkfish with tabbouleh and the flavours within both were just delicious. My only disappointment was the creme brulee, don't get me wrong it wasn't the worst I've had but not the best either. I think because my other courses had been so good I was expecting something more.

We just booked for dinner at The Clachan and the food was really good. Two of us had the stake with chips cooked in beef dripping, 10 out of ten lovely tastie food. My other mate had the Monkfish. The service was good and the staff were very pleasant. The place itself is oldie worldie comfy with log fire burning what more could you ask for 😊😊😊😋

This is my local - wonderful food, great beer and great staff. The owners are also a great young couple. It's a real asset to the village.

We came here for a Sunday roast whilst on holiday in Scotland, however we were disappointed to see there wasn’t a single vegetarian roast option. The other veggie options were good but a real shame to not have a roast. Service was generally ok and overall the food was good - but roast needs more gravy! Definitely recommend the sticky toffee pud and chocolate dome.

Yelp
Wow. This is one those Scottish villages that looks like someone took a handful of white-painted cottages and threw them against a hillside. Unfortunately, it seems to be too small to sustain the two pub inns that are there and they both apparently change ownership with some frequency. I have eaten at the Clachan Inn previously and it was rather uninspired standard pub fare, but this evening's experience at the current incarnation was exactly the opposite. Appetizers included a rabbit terrine smartly served in a kilner jar with toast and an spectacular haggis Scotch egg in a whisky sauce. Entrees were all elegantly served. Duck leg: crisp skin, fall off the bone tender and an amazing concoction of peas & bacon in a sauce I sadly cannot recall further details of. Baked cod very slightly overcooked. Pheasant breast declared excellent. Desserts were decent but ordinary except a ginger beer and lime cheesecake that overpromised a little. That and the fish lost the 5th star. Excellent ambiance and decent beer clearly attracting plenty of attention as the place was extremely busy.

Yelp
Nope. The pub/restaurant is open again. Incidentally the address stated is wrong, it is located in Dalry, not Castle Douglas. We found the bar very busy with a mixture of locals and visiting tourists. Everyone appeared welcoming and friendly. We went into the adjoining restaurant were we were served in a friendly manner. There was a large selection of dishes of which ours were delivered quickly, although one of the starters was mislaid (but apologised for). The Guinness was full and creamy but the real delight was the presence of Spifire which was particularly welcome. Kids were made welcome and I would recommend it. Also it was an actual pub and not a hotel and bar which is normally found.
