The 4 Best Hostels in Toronto (Updated 2025)

"Centrally located just a few blocks from the CN Tower, the Rogers Centre and the harbourfront, I found The Clarence Park to be a social, convenient place to stay if you want to be in the heart of it all (you will pay a little extra for that). It has a cozy lounge with free tea and coffee, weekly events, a seasonal rooftop terrace and BBQ, a large fully equipped modern kitchen for cooking your own meals, desks in every room and free Wi‑Fi throughout the property." - Matthew Kepnes

I had a great stay at The Clarence Park Hostel. The staff were very nice and always helpful, which made the experience even better. The service overall was excellent. The location couldn’t be more convenient, right downtown, close to everything. The facilities were also good, clean, and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-located place to stay in the city.

5-Night Stay in April – Solo Traveler 6-Bed Mixed Dorm Pros: Clean and well-maintained hostel with solid overall conditions. Excellent location — just a 5-minute walk from the CN Tower, nightlife, restaurants, and public transport. Breakfast is basic but more than enough: fresh fruit, Quaker oats, a variety of teas, coffee, jams, and honey. Fellow guests were polite and respectful throughout the stay, which made the experience much more pleasant. Paid parking on-site is available and well-maintained. Cons: No elevator — I stayed on the top floor, and carrying luggage up was a bit of a challenge. Very limited bathroom access: the dorm had just one internal bathroom, plus a shared one near reception. Fortunately, timing worked out and I never had to wait long. Staff was just okay — professional, but not particularly warm or memorable. Important note: do not park on the street near the hostel overnight. I paid at the meter but didn’t realize overnight parking wasn’t allowed and ended up getting a ticket. Bonus: On one of the first nights, a squirrel popped up at our window — random, but oddly charming. Conclusion: A solid choice for solo travelers who want to stay in the heart of Toronto. While the lack of an elevator and the limited bathroom setup could be inconvenient for some, the location, overall cleanliness, and chill guest environment make up for it. Great for short to mid-length stays focused on exploring the city. (All photos provided are real, unedited, and without color treatment.)

Bro all the people who rated one stars are such losers. If you’re staying at a hostel you are likely a traveller who can sacrifice certain standards and make sacrifices, especially for the price you’re paying. But even then, this place is really nice and clean and the guy who checked me in was suuuper friendly and helpful when I asked him 40 questions. People complaining abt the homeless are pretentious privileged people who need to wake up to the reality of wanting to stay in the literal heart of a big city. This place is right next to the CN tower so in terms of location it’s exactly where u want to be to explore the city. I stayed in a 4 bed female only hostel and I have zero complaints. There were big lockers to keep your belongings in, the beds had curtains on all sides, there’s a nice lamp and many charging ports inside your little nook and the shower is good and clean and everything looks really cozy. There was also a massive full body mirror cause they know what girls need to survive. The pictures are not misleading. If you want a cute cheap place to stay for a few nights in the city (which is extremely hard to find - Toronto is expensive, people!) then don’t even think twice and just book it. (For reference I paid about 60-70$ for a night)

Great value for the price and an excellent location. My mom and I stayed one night in a private room with bunk beds which were surprisingly comfortable. The shower pressure was unusually strong, and the room and bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. But overall, it was a pretty good stay.

Great location, could see the CN tower from our room. Near to lots of lovely areas including Kensington Market and downtown. Slightly musty smell in the corridors and not especially welcoming due to an abundance of warning signs reminding people of hostel rules. Fine to be reminded, it just felt a bit excessive to us! Overall, good value for money, just not super social if that's what you're looking for.

Unacceptable and irresponsible data handling. Guests are asked to write all full credit/debit card info—including card number, expiry, and CVC—on paper. This highly sensitive information is left unsecured overnight, making it easy to steal or photograph. It directly violates their own privacy policy and exposes guests to serious risk. I will not return and strongly caution others.

A wonderful location and very friendly staff, but the ‘cheap hotel’ turned out to be terribly expensive when I contracted bed bugs dropping on me from the top bunk above my head .. informed the front desk. They moved me to another bed at midnight. On my drive home I got more bites.. now $29 toxic spray of my whole car, boiled all my clothes and sterilized them -most shrank & are garbage, threw out my cute weekender bag, mop & vaccuum daily to hopefully stop the spread… car detailing $200. after the spray dries… One night !… now I’m waiting the 16 day cycles to see if any eggs got through my cleaning & hatch a new batch of bugs. I know they’re rampant but close the rooms down & fumigate then! It’s not a successful business if you’re getting reviews like this. I’m still awaiting a refund from the booking agent. Happy birthday trip to me

A perfect stay with great vibes Our experience started off on an incredibly positive note with the warm welcome from Alvaro at the front desk – he was super friendly, attentive, and helpful. The location of the hostel is perfect, close to restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions like the CN Tower. A major highlight was the view of the CN Tower right from our room – just amazing! Everything was clean, calm, organized, and comfortable. No doubt, when we come back to Toronto with more time, we’ll definitely stay at the same hostel again.
