Our travel agent booked The Classic Villa for our 3 night stay in Christchurch. We loved our time here. Karen (manager) worked hard to make sure that we had everything we needed (access to early breakfast since our day trips left very early, recommendation for excellent dinner restaurant - Fiddlesticks that was just 2 blocks away, information regarding the beautiful botanical gardens just 2 blocks away etc). It was sparkling clean, the breakfast was everything we needed/wanted and the extra spaces were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the complimentary glass of port. Thank you Karen for making our stay extra special!!!

The Classic Villa The Classic Villa is ideally situated within a very short walk of downtown and all of the restaurants and bars etc. Luckily we managed to grab an off street parking spot in front of the villa; unless there is another parking area that I was not shown there appears to be many more rooms than there are parking spaces, so if you miss out I guess you have to find a space somewhere on-street locally. We were warmly welcomed by the host, Steve who gave us all the info we needed. Steve and Jackie lay out cold breakfast for guests, there is no cooked option. The biggest disappointment regarding the Classic Villa for us was our room. Although pretty large with 2 queen beds, it was rather dated in style and very lacking in natural light. The walls are painted a cream colour which combine with the medium dark wood furniture to create a rather dingy 70’s atmosphere. The room did have a large window running along one wall, this was however shielded by a blind. The blind was signed “Do Not Open”, presumably because its mechanism was broken. I could not see any reason other than malfunction why guests should not open the blind and had it been possible to do so, the room would have looked a lot more appealing. Maybe the owners are saving a few dollars by not replacing the blind. The bathroom was small and again not modern however the shower was superb, very hot and very very powerful.

This is a great beautiful boutique hotel. The hotel is located within a short walk of the city centre and has sufficient off street parking so no need to use the car. The rooms are very well appointed and well serviced. The continental breakfast was excellent and the management team were very friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit.

Steve and Jackie were amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to make their guests comfortable. Location couldn’t have been better. Centrally located within easy walking distance to all of the local arts and dining spots, as well as parks and botanical gardens. Would definitely return.

Only stayed for 1 night but experience was excellent. Room was lovely and the breakfast great and wholesome. The owner ensured that we were able to take an early breakfast so we could catch the train the Greymouth. This was much appreciated. Also excellent location for getting out and about to see the sights.

Our stay was lovely! Steve upgraded our room and we were delighted. Breakfast was good and very lively with other guests and information about Christchurch. Steve was helpful giving us tips about the town and we enjoyed the tram and gondola. Jackie was a delight and willing to help us with an early breakfast. We’d stay here again (and again).

Highly recommend. We have stayed here 4 times and consistently a 5/5. Location walking distance to all cbd activities. Spotless, comfortable bed and bedding. Breakfast with muesli, fruit, juice, breads and pastries and every spread imaginable. Owners attentive and friendly.

This is a nice and very central place to stay. Our room was in the old part and was fine. The lounge and dining areas are spacious, comfortable, and with kitchen an integral part it's like being at home. The managers were friendly and helpful. There is parking on the premises and you can walk easily all parts of central Christchurch .||Suggestions would be that the bed in number 8 is a bit firm and a mattress topper would be good, and a second folding luggage rack would help.
