13 Best Places to Retire for Golf Lovers

"Set along the heart of the Kona coast and sloping from sea level up to 1,250 feet, Hokuli'a is a private, spacious residential community centered on a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course that offers dramatic ocean views and gently sloping fairways from about 400 feet above shore, providing ocean breezes and striking vistas from every hole. Lots are generous — typically one to two acres with agricultural easements to support farming and sustainable living — and pricing is at the luxury end, with homes starting around $4 million and lots ranging roughly from $375,000 to $8 million." - Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty is a writer who specializes in covering destinations, resorts, and cruises for Travel + Leisure and other publications. Guard shack will not let you in to use public access unless you give them your drivers license as collateral. This is a private course, private property. The “club” most certainly does control the guard shack. They may have a business using a shell name on paperwork, but don’t act like it is a community guard shack for everyone. It is private, and a membership costs 37 thousand dollars per year. D bag.

Great golf course and area overall! Close to the public beach area.

The course is only fair shape with numerous brown spots in the fairways. Some of the tees had some sort disease which reduced the tee to dirt. The greens were very good but with the new construction and very high green fees, you might want to check out other courses. I was disappointed.

Quite possibly the best course I've ever been on or played. Truly an amazing course design and was very fun to play.
