Disappointing!!! We’re locals, and thought a night at the famous, highly rated CdA resort would be a fun way to celebrate my wife’s 76th birthday. When we made the reservations, the lady asked if it was special day, and when I affirmed it was, she carefully took all my wife’s info—I thought “ how nice, maybe there will be a card or something.” She tried to upsell us to a 17th floor room, but since the 8th floor room was similar, I declined. Every day following, I’d get texts offering for a price “here’s something extra we have,” one offering early check-in for just $30! I took that one, so we’d be able to see the lake before it got dark. When we checked in, the rather unfriendly lady told us our room wasn’t ready but when I pointed out we’d paid extra to check in early, she said “oh, yes, I see that now,” and although our assigned room was on the 17th floor, she had one that was ready on the 15th floor. I thought that sounded better than I expected, why not. The room had a gorgeous view, but I soon discovered the furniture was extremely uncomfortable—-not even Motel 6 level—the room was over-heated until I found the cooling function, and then the fan was extremely noisy, just like any Holiday Inn window unit. The fireplace was not the beautiful flame as portrayed in the resort photos, but looked more like a dozen blue pilot lights, barely visible. One. bright side— room service was great, and the food from Beverly’s was wonderful, as expected. Check-out was as dysfunctional as check-in; the staffer mixed up the rooms, tried to charge us for things we had not done.. Even when while we waited for our car to be brought around, with our hands fullnof luggage right in front if the valet booth, no one offered to hold a door open for us. My impression if the staff was that they were an unhappy crew—certainly not the professionals I had expected and experienced at other North idaho hotels. (Incidentally, there was no acknowledgment of my wife’s birthday..). In summary, we spent a lot of money for a very substandard accommodation In no way does the CdA Resort live up to their ratings. My advice; any place would be better than their place.
