I had a terrible experience at The Collective today. From the moment I entered, the shop keeper proved to be unhelpful, unwelcoming, and outright rude.
I went in with my 8-month-old baby and teenage daughter. When we entered, the shop keeper asked "what we were there for." I assumed she wanted to help us find what we were searching for. I told her that I was trying to find an outfit for a party my daughter plans to attend. She then said "ok" and turned right around, giving me the impression that she was actually asking us what we were doing in the store! When I asked her how the clothing was organized, because I wanted to search for an outfit that would fit my daughter, she said "color and style" and then walked away again. It was so dismissive! She seemed so uninterested in helping us fine what we needed.
When we went to leave, I had to take a moment to strap my baby into his stroller. I had left the stroller by the door (not blocking the door, but beside it) because it was wet from rain, and I didn't want to drag water through the store. My daughter waited beside me as I secured the stroller straps. Another woman wanted to enter and politely asked my daughter if she could squeeze by her to enter. The shop owner then called out from the back of the room "I'm sorry about that!" I cannot believe she had the gall to apologize to other customers about me while I was right there! It took me seconds to strap my son in, but she felt the need to say that! So rude and extremely inconsiderate to women who have young children! I am still shocked by the incident, and I sincerely hope that the shop keeper reevaluates how she interacts with customers that she doesn't personally know. Very disappointed.
