|LL|Felt safe. Clean. Limited Service|Tried this 'boutique' hotel on a conference trip Nice location, ample parking, nice room. But there is no food on site There is no phone to contact the front desk. A while after I got checked in I got a text saying to respond if I wanted anyting. This was after we noticed a card in the bathroom saying if you wanted any room service to call the front desk. But there WAS no phone. So used cell phone to call front desk to request daily service. Got a long song and dance that i would get a text the next day and I should respond to that text. What? I asked if there was no other way as I was going to be involved during the days. DId get service the next day. However, despite responding to the text the 2nd day, came back to see nothing done in the room.. |Big price tag. Small service.

i stayed here once before and was glad to return. the collegiate is a charming find! i love the free parking, the unique rooms, the friendly and helpful staff, and that it’s quiet despite being in a college town! everything is walkable but there is also a free golf cart shuttle that can take you anywhere downtown… but there is a lobby bar and rooftop bar at the hotel so you don’t really need to leave! can’t wait to have an excuse to come back and stay again.

We have stayed several times at the Collegiate Hotel. It’s our first choice of hotels in Auburn. The staff is helpful and friendly. They will do anything to help accommodate you. They have a golf cart to transport you to campus. Easy parking. A great rooftop and lobby bar. You will feel like you are coming home at night. We love the Collegiate!!

Google
Great location for touring the campus. Everything within walking distance from the hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff. Rooms are definitely not sound proof, so hallway noise was a bit more than most hotels, but guests were respectful.

I have stayed at this Hotel in Auburn many times since it opened. It has gone down hill. My room did not have a bed skirt and I was looking at an ugly mattress and I had an outdoor area that was never cleaned. The staff is not friendly and I don't feel welcome in this small hotel. There is no breakfast. I'd rather stay at one of the new hotels next time if they don't improve.

Absolutely appalling experience at this hotel—if I could award negative stars, I most certainly would. We booked what was sold to us as a “luxury suite” specifically to celebrate my wife’s birthday, expecting peace and comfort. Instead, we found ourselves directly beneath a raucous bar hosting the most obnoxious, loud, and intoxicated patrons imaginable. The relentless noise was deafening, continuing late into the night and completely ruining our weekend.||When we brought this unbearable situation to the hotel’s attention, their response added insult to injury—they offered to relocate us to a basement room that felt more like a dungeon than accommodation: windowless, claustrophobic, and utterly unacceptable. The management displayed zero empathy or willingness to genuinely resolve our problem.||Do yourself a favor and avoid this place entirely. The blatant disregard for customer satisfaction is shocking for any establishment, let alone one claiming to offer luxury. Spend your hard-earned money literally anywhere else.

Loved my room. It was spacious and so was the bathroom. Staff at the front desk and bar area were very courteous. ||My only complaint was the rowdiness that occurred around 2am. I was surprised that the staff did not address this. It was quite loud and continuous.

Google
I do not advise staying on Level 1 where the inside bar is located. The noise from the bar carries down the hallway. Check in was total confusion. Tried to check me in to someone else’s room using their credit card. Then was told my room was paid for only to be retrieved from my room and told my credit card was declined. I was escorted back to the front desk to be told my credit card was in fact not declined. Furthermore, there was a huge sorority event in the hotel lobby/bar area which made it impossible for a hotel guest to get a beverage. Refrigerator did not keep drinks cold even after adjusting. The commode needs to be reseated to the floor. Felt like you were on a rocking chair (Room 105). Also, trip advisor states breakfast included and sign in the hotel states the same; however, there is no breakfast.

Yelp
Very good views of Auburn's campus, great and friendly staff, and drinks are really good!

Yelp
As I sit here in suite 34, the banging from the door leading to the parking lot is insufferable. The noise from the upstairs and the guests down the hall is awful. And this isn't from anyone being rowdy, it from a door that slams and lack of sound barriers. I was excited to stay here but won't again. Omg. The slamming door.

Yelp
Never stayed here but I'm sure it's beautiful. Love the rooftop bar. Beautiful, with a view of Samford. Cocktails at sunset on the roof are the best. Drinks are good, expensive for Auburn but really normal cocktail prices.

Yelp
Hotel has many lovely aspects but it's not quite right. They have 40 rooms and 3 busy bars catering to Auburn students . The bar men , upper class men at the University ,didn't card the young customers . Serving underage customers is a bad deal . The floors in my room were sticky , the room wasn't restocked with shampoo , coffee or even a towels after I asked that it be "freshened ". The grab and go breakfast served no protein , just carbs, mostly cereal bars , coffee and instant oatmeal . An employee usually parked in the no parking areas near the door thus Partially blocking the handicapped van unloading zone . A manager habitually blocked the exit driveway with his fancy car . There are essentially no services beyond alcohol distribution , no exercise machines , no pool . You cannot buy food in any form as far I can tell . The hotel staff had a pleasant manner. The txt messaging service , Ivy, worked well . The hotel seems to be clean . The AC is excellent , It's a place to drink, sleep , and maybe read . It's a lovely venue with inadequate services .

Yelp
Great place to stay when you're visiting Auburn and looking for a chance to enjoy the downtown experience.

Yelp
After the Auburn football game my wife and I were going to go in and have a drink with two of our friends and it was cold out. We thought at 9:30 we'd be able to give some business to them and wait for our Uber, typically that should be an option, but we were treated like garbage. Spoken down by an old woman with blonde hair at the door of this establishment, was told in a twangy voice "bless your heart, sorry but we're closed". Then a wave of people would come and go, but because we didn't fit the normal description of their old clientele we were discriminated pretty harshly. how that woman spoke down to us is a disgrace and embarrassment to your business. My wife is an alum and we will never be bringing business to your establishment and will not recommend it to anyone we know. Hospitality is your business, try it next time!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the CoHo for two nights as a short anniversary trip. We LOVED every minute of it!! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the hotel is absolutely gorgeous! They have a golf cart "limo" to take guests downtown or to campus. The lobby bar, and rooftop bar serve quality drinks...and we highly recommend enjoying the rooftop bar at night with views of Samford Hall. We stayed in a ground-level suite with private patio...loved it!! Our room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and we loved the hardwood floors! A complimentary continental breakfast is served in the mornings, and we enjoyed that detail. If you are an Auburn Grad from the 1990's and earlier, you'll remember the CoHo as the old Wittel Dorm. They have transformed it into a BEAUTIFUL hotel true to the original spirit of the building. Also...don't forget to find yourself in the Gloms at the front desk and sign your picture! We loved staying at the CoHo, and will be recommending it to everyone we know! We can't wait to stay again! War Eagle!!

Yelp
Wonderful experience at this hotel! Loved the trendy boutique vibe will all of its amenities. The location of the hotel was so convenient to campus, and the price was reasonable for the quality of the experience! Well-designed rooms, luxurious bathrooms with waterfall showers, golf-cart shuttle service, light breakfast, rooftop views - I WILL be staying here again!

Taylor L.

Yelp
Stopped by the Bar at Wittel at the hotel for drinks and had a pleasant experience. I love the rooftop area, especially when the weather is nice. Nice view of the town. The first time I visited, I had drinks at the lobby bar. Very good and aesthetically pleasing. My only complaint is that there was a dog roaming around in the lobby area and one of the bartenders played and touched the dog and proceeded to continue to make drinks without washing their hands. Very unsanitary!

Yelp
As a 5th generation Auburnite, I was eager to visit the Collegiate when I returned home for the Georgia game. I had heard good things from old friends and, though I was disappointed to hear the old Wittel Hall was no longer, I was pleased the building had been re-used and was not a Whataburger. Alas, I am sad to discover the Collegiate is disappointing. Ideally situated to be an outstanding boutique hotel, upon entering the establishment one is assaulted by garish lighting design, if one could be so generous with that term for design seems to be an afterthought. The decor is even worse. I could find no rhyme or reason, no nod to history of the former Wittel (where my grandmother spent her undergraduate years) or barely of Auburn, university or the town. The Glomerata shelf is a nice touch. If only it wasnt merely an appetizer. Alas, the worst is yet to come. As we left the hotel a friend of ours started a soft war cry in the lobby and all the guests began to join in. "Waaaaaarrrrrr, Eagle!" It was the first time that we felt we were indeed in Auburn on the eve of the biggest home game of the season. The staff seemed to discourage celebration and spirit. To make matters worse, a staffer actually grabbed our friend by the arm and with a public demonstration admonished him like a child. "We do not do that here! We have guests!" She hissed. We were shocked! He was mortified. Mind you, this wasn't at 2 in the morning. It was barely 11 PM. A couple I our party were guests at the hotel and we'd just spent considerable money at the roof bar at the start of our evening. It is one thing to suffer from bad taste and lack of respect for the history of beloved Auburn. And yet another to become physical and rude to a patron. But to attempt to extinguish the spirit of Auburn on the eve of such an important game is downright unforgivable. After all, isn't this hotel banking on football season to be successful? It's time for the owners to take a close look at what they are serving the community. And respect the spirit that drives everything, from economics to education to society. I hope they can do better. God bless and WAR EAGLE!

Yelp
This place is terrible. Had my engagement party here, some people spilled their waters and the manager lost his mind. He kicked my whole party out. My family and I spend thousands of dollars staying here and recommending this place to our friends and family. Never again. Extremely rude and disrespectful. Not professional at all. -100/10.

Brandon W.

Yelp
The staff was friendly but not knowledgeable on cocktails that are not on their brief menu. Ordered a Woodford Manhattan up, took 10 minutes to get and I had to explain the staff what serving a drink up means. Failed to garnish as well. I will say their house drinks are good so stick to those or simple mixes.

Yelp
This hotel is very new and very modern. But also likes to exaggerate / borderline lie about the amenities in the rooms. I booked "Suite 34" which their website boast as having a 60" TV, Bose sound system and an overall Auburn theme. NONE of that is true. There is a 55" TV. No other sound system, definitely not a Bose sound system and nothing about that room has to do with the "academic and athletic history of Auburn". Very deceiving company. Also the "hot" water was lukewarm which makes a shower not very enjoyable. Every staff member I interacted with was extremely professional and hospitable.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful stays! We had a fantastic New Year's Eve experience ringing in 2019 and just returned from a quick excursion to watch the Auburn Tigers take on Ole Miss at Plainsman Park. The Collegiate is truly a full service boutique experience. The weather was dreadful for the game, so the staff made certain we reached our venue in their covered golf cart. We also enjoyed rides to and from for our New Year's Eve dinner at Amsterdam Cafe. The owners are very hands on and congenial. They've done a superb job with training their staff to insure your every need is met. We can't wait to go back the next time we're on the Plains!

Yelp
Fun vibe. Great drinks. Cool team. Best spot to grab a Pre dinner drink in the lobby, on the side porch or rooftop if weather permits.

Yelp
Came here over graduation weekend and just had cocktails at the bar; absolutely loved it! Service was great and the AU-Bees margarita was beautiful & delicious! The ambiance is very inviting and friendly. Be back for sure!

Yelp
This is a lovely, quaint hotel conveniently located to restaurants and campus. We loved the decor and higher end features. The golf cart ride to dinner was a nice plus and our children loved it. If we are passing through Auburn again we would definitely choose The Collegiate Hotel!

Carolyn B.

Yelp
A winner. Convenient location, fun rooftop drink area, and friendly staff combine for a delightful weekend. They hosted several events while we were there on the porch. The golf cart shuttle to/from local restaurants is always a bonus. Thank you! See you next visit!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here over Thanksgiving this year when we were in town to visit my family. We chose The Collegiate since it was actually cheaper than an airbnb downtown. I was an Auburn Student when the Hotel was the Wittel Dorms, and it was so cool to see what they have done with this place. The whole place is beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was very attentive, although a little hovery. We felt like we were being watched when we left our rooms. Housekeeping was also standing and waiting outside the door on checkout day, which was weird and made us feel rushed (we were checking out on time). Amenities were a bit hard to come by. It was hard to find coffee, and when I asked someone for K-Cups, I was told "You should have a Keurig in your room". We did have one, but we were only given 2 K-Cups for 2 nights and we had used them. I'm sure I could have just texted the room service number I was given, so this is not a big deal. Overall, we really liked our stay. Hotel is clean, beautiful, and in a great location. We also really liked signing the Gloms! Will definitely keep this hotel at the top of my list when I come into town.

Yelp
So enjoyed our stay here! From the moment you walk in and are greeted, CoHo has that 'Auburn feel'. Loved the check-in desk and all the Gloms from different years. Find one from a year you were there and your pic and sign it!! So fun!!!! There is a really cool bar downstairs and also a rooftop bar and patio where you can gaze upon Samford. Very cool at night! The decor is AUsome and our room was perfect and so comfortable. Very clean and fresh. CoHo also has a golfcart and is just a text away from taking you wherever you want to go downtown. And they will pick you back up too! I highly recommend The Collegiate Hotel for your next stay in Auburn!! They are already completely booked for this fall so make sure you check them out for Fall 2019!!

Yelp
Awesome Modern Boutique Hotel in Downtown Auburn. Lobby and Rooftop Bars. Walking distance to restaurants and bars, valet can also take you on a golf cart if desired. Brand new and a wonderful place to stay. Owners are on site and Staff is Great! Sitting on the front porch having a cup of coffee, very relaxing...
