Service: Amazing! We waited for total of 30 mins that’s including the line and cooking which is pretty quick considering there’s a long line. Gave sample of fries to try (Delicious) and great staff! Food: So worth of waiting and drive! I like how they used “Fresh potatoes” and not frozen ones; You can even see them cutting it. The steak and fries is spectacular! A lot of flavor! Had a plantain burger and enjoyed it a lot (I’m not a fan of burger but their burger made me enjoy it; they used a premium and fresh meat – I can tell if its frozen, reason why I’m picky with burgers). It’s heavy in a good way (You’ll get full for real, means worth of the money), might be a little greasy not really a problem (Unless you’re very conscious with grease and health). Highly recommend!

I’ve been wanting to try and happened to be near Morristown this weekend. We lined up around 11:30 and were 4th in line. Once they opened the ordering and getting our food was super fast! We got a steak and fries, a regular cheesesteak and a maduro cheesesteak. We wanted to try the patacon cheeseburger but unfortunate they weren’t serving burgers - next time! Service was great. The dad was super friendly and engaging. We got a sample of the fries while we waited for our food. We had about a 40 minute drive home but the food was still delicious, even after reheating in the oven. All three things were amazing. They use a white cheese instead of yellow for the cheesesteaks and it’s so good. The added maduros to the cheesesteak brings a nice twist. $55 for all 3 things and the portions are huge!! We had enough for two meals. This place is so worth the drive and wait (if the kind is long). We definitely want to come back and try the patacon cheeseburger.

Pulled up on a Thursday afternoon right after they opened. I got the steak fries and let me just say — the sauce alone would make me come back without question. The dish itself was fantastic: big portion, tasty steak, and fries that were perfectly fried, not greasy at all. I also got a side of plantains, and the portion was super generous. Service was great, everyone was really friendly. They treated me like family at a cookout. The inside of the truck looked very clean. As far as wait time, I barely had to wait for my food. Overall, excellent experience and I’ll absolutely make it a point to be back.

It was a hot, sunny day today, and we waited in line to try out the Colonial Grill. It was nice to see that there was a line caused by it. Let me know that the food has to be pretty good. My boyfriend and I got the steak and fries, which were quite delicious. A little on the oily side, but other than that, they were excellent.

The service and staff were excellent — very friendly and attentive. The food looked amazing and had good flavor, but the steak was extremely tough and chewy, which made it hard to enjoy. Fries were soggy, but that didn’t bother me too much. The patacón burger, on the other hand, was delicious and well cooked — definitely the highlight of the meal. I’d come back for that, but I’m not sure the whole experience is worth waiting an hour in line.

Took an hour to get here but babe love to find new food spots. The first time we tried to stop by few months ago it was pouring down rain, so we ended up going home. But on our second visit — wow, it was busy and worth it! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was popping. The line was wrapped around the corner, but me and my little family were impressed — our taste buds were dancing! 💃🍴 Babe said the customer service was great and he felt happy to see this food truck doing so well. Found them on tiktok, sent my spouse to try them out for lunch while I was in the hospital. He's gone back almost everyday. The food is absolutely amazing. There is typically a line waiting, but it moves efficiently (and it's worth the wait). Delicious!

The Colonial Grill was recommended by one of my patients, and honestly, it ended up being one of the best food decisions I've made in a long time. Food: I had the steak frites with spicy sauce and garlic cilantro sauce... absolutely out of this world. The steak was perfectly cooked, the fries were seasoned just right, and the whole platter was more than enough for two people. I also grabbed a passionfruit smoothie that instantly transported me to Portugal -- bright, fresh, and refreshing. Service: The owner, Kevin, made me feel right at home by being super kind, welcoming, and patient. His father was great too, and you can tell they care about the experience. Be warned: the lines are very long, so get there early, it's first come, first serve and totally worth the wait. Aesthetic: It's a food truck setup right in the middle of the Morristown Green, and the line usually stretches down to the corner. Simple, street-side vibes with high-quality food that rivals any sit-down spot.

Food Absolutely amazing! Steak melts right in your mouth. Fries are delicious. Sauce is out of this world. Service The wait was about 1 hour on a Sunday afternoon. The person taking the order was handing out free fries samples due to the long wait. Extremely friendly staff. Spoke with the owner(younger one). Had a great conversation with him. I find it great that he stops and chops it up a little with each and every customer even when they're extremely busy. This is what I feel differentiates them from other food businesses. That and their always positive energy. Ambiance Ambiance was great. Everyone seemed excited to try out their food.

Lamb Gyro is amazing completely loaded. Fries on the side to top it off. You can't go wrong.. Great service, small sample serving of dressed fries while you wait for your order. Nice lunchtime meal to take back to the office and talk with coworkers. Beware: After this meal Nighty nite!

I was influenced by TikTok to come here lol As noted by others, yes, there will be a wait, but also, yes, I do think it's worth it! It took about 25ish minutes in line to place my order, and then about 30ish minutes to get the food. I went with the steak and fries, and they even ask how you want the steak cooked. You have the option to sauce it up (which I did, minus the chipotle sauce), and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was hoping to try the bbq pork, but they didn't have any that Saturday. I'll have to try again another time! While waiting, they give you a sample of fries, which is so nice. The owners were very sweet, and I'd love to come support them again!

I had been dying to try the colonial grill for a while! Finally made it today and thank god the line wasn't terrible, waited about half an hour in line and once we placed our order it took less than 10 minutes to get our food! We ordered the famous steak and fries, all the way with the sauces and my husband opted for the hot sauce on his. It was a great experience and we would go back again! The fry sample was a nice touch and it gets you ready for your meal! Definitely give this place a try and don't fear the line!

I enjoy food trucks but it is rare that I go out of my way to tell others about trying a food truck. This is one of those trucks. You will wait a while. You may even be wondering why you are waiting when you can easily pop into any other restaurant in Morristown and have your food brought to you in the time it would take to order from The Colonial Grill. But as they say, good things come to those who wait and in this case you will be glad you did. First time visitor? This is a question that you will be asked. Answer yes and you are graced with a complimentary side of fries. Not sure what to order? May I suggest the plantain burger or cheesesteak? No matter what you decide, it will be the right decision. The food is fresh and there is plenty of it. Enjoy your food in the park, in your car, or at home. Take comfort in knowing that not all food trucks are equal and that this is one that not only cares about quality but customer service. After being treated like a valued customer, I will go out of my way to drive the hour it takes to get here and wait in line because i know it will be worth it.

First off: Burger - 10 Fries - 10 Service - 10 Location - 10 Okay, let's start off with the taste and the quality of their food. Three words: Divine & Top Notch I have only had meat probably a dozen times in the past 8 years, but when I saw this place on YouTube I was like today is a great day to eat meat. Me and my girlfriend were hitting up some breweries in the area and we made plans to go here afterwards and my gosh am I glad we did. We walked up to order our food and everyone was vibing to this place while waiting for their food. It's in a cool spot right in front of the fountain at The Morristown Green. So, after a short wait in the line the guy working who I assume is the owner/son was very welcoming, friendly and courteous. He asked if we had been there before and we said no so he said let me give you some fries to try while you're ordering. Wow, just wow! The flavors on that little bit of fries he gave us was on a different level of flavor town. We then proceeded to order the colonial burger and fries and he asked us how we wanted it cooked(medium of course) and what we wanted on it and I said make it how you like it and he did. After about 15-20 he walked over to the window and said that it was almost done. Then minutes later the father/owner I assume walked over and said our name and we both looked at it and smiled. He asked if wanted it sauced up and we both said, Hell Yeah! So we took our burger, fries, and Coke Zero and sat on a bench in front of the fountain which is almost directly in front of the food truck and sat down and dug in. I don't think either one of us was prepared for the incredible flavor this burger has. I took the first bite and looked at her and said, OMG! She then grabbed it and took the next bit and said, OMG! I don't know any other words that describes their burger and fries except, OMG! I am thankful this place is in business and I wish them the best in their future endeavors and I hope to see their business popping up all around the Morristown area. Thank you both for the kind service and top notch burger and fries. Holy smokes, I've seen this place on TikTok and Instagram, and I've always wanted to try it. Usually see it with lines that wrap around the block or at least the town Square located in Morristown New Jersey. I got there at about 5:30 in the evening to grab a dinner and the crew that was working in the food truck were well choreographed. I learned that this is a family business run by a father and son and you always see on their social media feed giving out samples of their fries with their chimichurri sauce and their garlic truffle sauce. I'm here to tell you this is one of the best meals I've ever had, let alone from a food truck. The combination of these two sauces are unbelievable. I put myself in the capable hands of the young man at the counter, who made me steak over a bed of fries, a staple often featured as part of their feed, and a cheeseburger with fries and chimichurri sauce on them. I couldn't get over how good they were. Cheeseburgers are my absolute pig out food and this was definitely a top five burger for me. Ever. As I got my food, there was definitely a larger line forming as the dinnertime crowd came ambling up from the town Square where the food truck is parked. It was a beautiful October night and I was able to sit on a bench right near the truck and eat my food. Needless to say there was a lot left over and I brought it back to the hotel room with me. If you are anywhere near Morristown New Jersey, I cannot recommend this food truck more. You will absolutely not regret it.

We went on a Friday night around 6PM and surprisingly there wasn't a line! We were able to talk to the owner and he recommended the Steak and Fries and their Colonial Cheesesteak. He also gave us a sample of their fries and sauces. The food came out shortly. Everything was pretty good! I think the sauces really brought out so much flavor and made the experience. I would have preferred my steak a little more rare, but overall I would say it was well seasoned and went perfectly with their fries. The cheesesteak was so saucy and messy but worth it in the end. Overall, a great spot to try and love their father son duo!

Yes - it is worth the hype. Sooooooo good. I found a spot right next to the truck on a rainy day and there wasn't a line, so I figured this was a good opportunity. Let me just say, the main guy running the show is very personable and super friendly. I got the steak and fries. And you may wonder - why are people driving an hour for steak and fries. It's all in that dang sauce. You want to keep scooping up the sauce and eating just that. He asked me which sauce I wanted and I just said "put it all on there". I think there are 2 sauces? I was certainly WOW-ed by this food truck.

Time and time again I find myself coming back here ever so often the food is amazing. The staff here hands-down they'll make you feel like family. They put a lot of effort into maintaining the quality of the food. They provide us with, and I think that should not be taken lightly these are true entrepreneurs that care about our well-being as well as our taste buds. I can't wait to see them expand and grow more. The world truly deserves to know what colonial grill is all about and I'll continue to support as often as I can, even though I hate the long lines I must say that first bite is always worth the wait.

Probably one of the best food trucks in NJ. 1) I got the steak and fries. It was excellent and affordable. I also recommend getting it "sauced up". 2) Also, they accept Apple Pay and credit cards, which is great. 3) It is long lines, but they have excellent service.

We ordered the Steak and Fries and a side of maduros. The sauces that they used tasted amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection. The son and father duo were welcoming and provided great service. We noticed the line was the shortest today (Thursday) and waited only 5min. We'll come back again!

Luckily got fourth in line as they were opening. By time we got done ordering, line was already down the block Got a cheesesteak de madaro (sweet plantains). Ribeye steak cooked perfectly. Onions soft, sweet plantains added nice balance. The real closer was the garlic sauce! Has a mild tang and the garlic punches through without overtaking other flavors. Def worth the wait!!!

The best damn steak you'll find!!!!!!!!! There's not a single thing on that menu that isn't good, the portions are HUGE, and perfectly priced! Not only is the food amazing, but the service is just as good. It's a family run business and you can see how they care about each and every person that visits them off one conversation alone. They even take it to the next level by giving you a free sample while you wait for your order to ensure you like the sauces they make. I can promise you will not regret eating here

All I have to say is food is delicious, 5service and ambiance is also nice. Although be ready for long lines but trust me is worth it. Definitely will come back.

If i could give this place a higher rating i would! Infinity rating/10! Ive made a trip here multiple times already and the 40 minute drives that i take is so worth it. The food has always hit every single time and i always end up taking back extra orders for home for the next day and for the rest of the family to try. Service: 10/10 best service we've ever received. It's a food truck ran by a Colombian dad and his son Kevin cooking up crazy good food! They're always attentive and finish serving the food in front of you with all the amazing sauces. On the cold day we went, they kept out hot chocolate for us to serve ourselves with to keep warm and even a sample of the fries while we wait. They have always taken care of us with the great food every single time we've gone! Food: 10/10 the steak and fries with the chimi and garlicky sauce just pair together so well! My order, medium rare extra extra all sauces and it never disappoints! Be prepared to wait a long line especially weekends so dress according to the weather!!

The food here is fantastic--typical street vendor fare but with a unique twist. They incorporate plátanos into dishes like burgers and grilled chicken. I wanted to try the plátano hamburger, but it was sold out by 4 p.m., even though they open at 2 p.m. The service was excellent, with very kind staff. It's a food truck located outside next to a beautiful park in central Morristown, which made for a relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed the food while sitting in our car.

Best day of my life today. I haven't tasted anything like this, it was definitely worth the wait and papi was so niceee and welcoming . I 100% recommend. The best of the best. See you next weekend!

Went here for the first time yesterday. There's been some buzz about their cheesesteaks and steak and fries platter on social media so I wanted to give it a try. Let me tell you that it did not disappoint. I got the cheesesteak with hand cut fries. I was immediately greeted with a smile and a sample of their hand cut fries "sauced up". The sauce is crazy good. A couple minutes later I received my order from the gentleman and he asked if I wanted the sauce and I said go for it. Both interactions from the greeting to receiving the food were so friendly and hospitable. I couldn't believe the care these guys put into customer service as well as the food. The cheesesteak and fries were a 10/10. It was a rainy day but this food experience made it feel like there was sunshine. Really good job. Well deserved success. Keep up the great job!

Hands down the best steak and fries I've had in a long time. I've been here 3 times already and the wait is not bad at all considering how good the food is. The owner and his son super cool guys and great vibes. Always give you some sample fries to eat while you wait which is always a plus and the sauces are just amazing coming from someone who is a super picky. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu or just keep getting steak and fries!!!!!!

OMG! Drove an hour to get here and its so worth it! I got the steak on fries, grilled chicken on fries, and the cheeseburger. The owner gave us a taste of the "patacon" which was delicious, it had a sweet taste (pineapple) different from the Dominican patacon. Fries were fresh made from real potatoes. The truck was parked outside but its a clean area and there is a bench where you can chill and eat your food. rating 100/10!

Can't believe this truck gets 5 stars from so many? The steak sandwich was flavorless. I was shocked. I was so disappointed I only ate like 3 bites. I took it home and wrapped it up in aluminum foil. The next day i air fried the sandwich. It was actually better. It went from a 1 to a 3 so that's the reason for the 2 stars. The fries are also overrated. Very greasy and the "fries sauce" is terrible. Thankfully I only got it on the side. Very greasy/watery. No thickness to it just oil and wet with some garlic flavor. I was hoping it was thicker or creamy. Not good. Service is slow slow which is why they give you some free tasting fries. If not people would get pissed it's so slow. I think their popularity is based on luck. They have an awesome spot in Morristown. No one could fail there and they seem like nice and friendly guys. Price was a little high. $18 for an average sized cheesesteak and small fries and 1 can of soda! Parking is terrible, traffic is terrible but the park is beautiful. Menu is limited. Won't go back

Colonial Grill has become our new favorite lunch spot at work! So far I've tried the burger, chicken gyro, and steak & fries and everything has been delicious. Their hours and menu are posted on the Instagram account and their story gets updated if they'll be closed for the day. There's usually a line so expect a little bit of a wait but trust me the food is worth it -- make sure to try the special sauce!!

I came from delaware today and the customer service was fire, and the food was a 11/10. I didn't even know food like this could exist and now I have expectations for everywhere I eat. This place is one of the best foods i've ever had in my life. The spot also has a very nice vibe to it

We park on the street and see the unassuming little red truck. It's almost 2pm and I say, I want the best burger in New Jersey. Modestly the chef says, I'll try to recreate what everyone is writing about. Then he puts on the theme to Rocky?! He's cooking, slicing bread, slicing onions flipping burgers, Rocky for the win! While we're waiting, he gives us a small French Fry platter to try. And the fries? I can see him pressing potatoes by hand. Nothing is out of a bag, I can taste the freshness. The fries are perfectly cooked, let's call them insane fries. The burgers come, we grab the bench by the truck and dig into the burgers. My burger is a handful: lettuce, tomato and onion with a big patty. The secret to this burgers success, it's well seasoned. There's a place that closed on Long Island, Dirty Burger that heavily seasoned their burgers. This is not the case, it's the right amount of seasoning on a perfectly cooked burger to give it the savory taste. To give the crown of having the best burger in New Jersey for 2021. The people have spoken! Now go out and beat Mr T.

If you're in the area, add this to your list! After reading reviews, and learning how popular the food is, I decided to call ahead and place my order. I was excited to pick up lunch from the red food truck. But it wasn't there. Instead I found his new food truck with new design but same name. When I got there, I waited a few minutes while chatting with the owner. Great guy! He gave my some fries to try his cilantro sauce and it was good. I opted for the cheesesteak and fries. Both were delicious. I decided to share it with my husband so I had to wait 17 minutes to drive home and eat it. Tasted good even after a drive and my hubby agreed. Next time I'll try the cheeseburger. This is a great option next time you're in Morristown. Enjoy! (Note: parking around green might be hard to find. I parked behind him with my flashers on and that was ok for the short time needed to pick up and pay)

I really hate giving a bad review since these guys set up at the HS to feed the players and the fans at the games. I will always support local vendors like this food truck. It's not that I'm a health fanatic but this truck brings grease/oil to a whole new level. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. I like mine crispy. What I got was soggy and extra oily. My hand was covered in oil afterwards. I had to throw it out not even half way through. I can take the greasiness if it's crispy but this was really soggy. Sorry for the bad review guys but work on crispy fries and tenders. Thanks.

Food is always served beautifully, with rich flavors. The owners of this establishment provide a warm personable presence that makes all customers feel welcomed. They recently upgraded their eye catching truck on the Morristown Green so it is not hard to find at all.

How we didn't hear about this place sooner is almost stunning. The Colonial Grill is parked at various times along the Morristown Green. Everything is made fresh upon ordering. The owner had us try his homemade sauce on some French Fries to see if we liked it, and it was good stuff. Menu is reasonably extensive, but I was there to have a Gyro. The Gyro you get his huge, so big I couldn't even finish it, and the flavor is good. I could barely touch my fries being so full, but they were also good. My one friend got chicken fingers, and the platter was huge coming with five of them. Prices are reasonable. We stopped by on a slow day, and the owner was super cool to chat with, even showing how he prepares one if his featured menu items. This food truck is totally worth the stop.

One of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. The service was incredible, you can tell the guy really enjoyed serving phenomenal food. The fries with the cilantro/garlic aioli were out of this world. I highly recommend it to any and everyone.

Bookmarked this spot on yelp. Lo and behold, the truck is right across from where I volunteer. The hubster and I walked up and were greeted promptly. I immediately noticed how clean and organized the inside of the truck was. The owner placed a few fries with cilantro sauce in front of us and told us to try them. Well, that was a sure way to rope us in. God knows we love a free sample. Anywho, I ordered the cheesesteak, an empanada, fries, and a smoothie. All were very good. I'd make minor adjustments to my cheese steak but it was still very satisfying. That cilantro sauce tastes good on everything. We literally stood at the truck and ate our food. I'll definitely be back.

I work on the green in Morristown and up until a few weeks ago, I've always passed this food truck. This just might be the hidden gem of Morristown. A couple of weeks ago, I tried it for the first time and I loved it. I ordered a gyro and fries and it was delish. I returned again on 6/9/2017 and got the cheesesteak and it was phenomenal. The roll was just right along with the flavor of the cheesesteak. The fries are really seasoned well and I absolutely love the garlic scallion sauce. Speaking of the fries, while a colleague and I were waiting for our orders, the owner gave us some free fries to munch on while we waited. It's little gestures like that that go a long way. I can't wait to try something else off their menu!

I'm rarely ever in Morristown, and today I had Jury Duty so I finally gave it a shot after bookmarking this place over a year ago. Ummm... yeah I'm coming back. This guy needs to open his own place. The cheesesteak is like nothing ever, and being completely honest, I think it beats my favorite which always was Geno's. And I was a little reluctant on the green garlic sauce, but no - it compliments everything perfectly and you would not be sorry. Definitely going out of my way in future for this!
