Really unique experience to definitely do while in Melbourne. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves very much. We did the early dinner ride which had a 3 course meal. The food was tasty, the drinks just kept coming which was great and the dessert was nice. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive.

One of the experience that signify what Melbourne is all about and have been curious about the experience. Alas, the hype is not as good as we expected. The food was subpar which is understandable considering there's no kitchen onboard. It's a shame because there's a romantic feel to the whole trip. I would say still try it just for the experience but don't expect too much on the food. Food - 3 Service - 9 Vibe - 8 Price - $$$

We had the most wonderful lunch experience over the weekend on The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. The three course lunch was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional, Warwick in particular was excellent. The staff were so quick going about serving people and they attended well to everyone’s needs. We travelled through the city, Albert Park and St Kilda and the view the whole way was excellent. The interior is in immaculate condition and it is surprisingly comfortable in the booths. The whole experience was excellent. We look forward to coming back and trying out the late five course dinner soon.

We had an absolutely amazing experience! Loved the tramcar dining! All food and services were excellent especially beverages were free flowing❣ We enjoyed every minute of tramcar tour. I would love to do it again.

Nice service by their friendly staff. The food was good but nothing spectacular. For the amount we spent, we could have gone to a much nicer restaurant in Melbourne, with better quality food, but it was a fun and memorable experience.

It's one of a touristy things that you can try out when your are in Melbourne. The food was goooood with free flow of wines..It's quite pricey but it's worth the experience and the staffs were friendly too.

It was Amazing. The chef was working on the tram, cooking for us! The service was really good. The staff were funny and nice. And the tram itself is a piece of art! So beautiful.

Yelp
Such a special experience!! I'm so glad we got to come here on our last night in Melbourne. The interior is artsy and very beautiful -- definitely an old-timey vibe. Each car holds about 15-20 people, with tables of 2 and 4. Our group was large, but able to fit into one car! I don't know if the menu changes regularly, but we were served an appetizer to share, a choice of two entrees, and then a dessert plate. The choices for the entrees were steak or chicken. I ordered the chicken which was cooked perfectly! It looked dry at first but it was so juicy and well seasoned. It was served on top of a soft potato and some spinach. The cream sauce wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be, but it was quite oily. The dessert was a date pudding cake and panna cotta. Both were delicious!! The date cake was a little sweet, but the panna cotta balanced it out well and wasn't too creamy either. The service was extremely friendly and really quick! The alcohol was endless and delicious ;). The tram pretty much just drove through the city, but I didn't really take the time to look outside. I could barely feel that we were moving, since it was driving pretty slow -- definitely a good thing! Again, I only have great things to say about this experience! I would have expected the food to be average, given that we're eating on a streetcar, but the food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great! I don't know why more cities don't do this, since there wasn't anything particularly Melbourne-specific, but it was awesome! Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience worth trying!

Yelp
What a perfect dining experience! We were visiting Melbourne in chilly July so we purchased the all inclusive Christmas in July lunch event. We were greeted at pickup location 125 by the Santa-hat-wearing station masters and were assigned to our car. (Two trams run for the Christmas event - it's so popular). Seating is assigned by family/party. The menu is all inclusive and let me add that they do not hold back on refilling those wine glasses! The decor was absolutely charming! Christmas bulbs dangling from the lights, presents at our places and a silver Christmas tree on each table. Festive music played throughout the three hour luncheon and we even had a visit from Santa! The food and service was excellent. There were four tables in our area of the car and we had one server attending to our drinks and another to our food. The appetizers were delicious: hummus dips followed by roast beef entree and a turkey and ham combo for the main! A brandy topped cake concluded the meal. Little gifts were given out periodically like chocolate covered raspberries. The tram took us through the city to St Kilda and back. It was scenic and fun and delicious! It was the perfect way to spend a July afternoon. When I am next in Melbourne, I will be sure to join another lunch or dinner on The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant!

Yelp
If you like fine dining and old school street cars like the ones from San Francisco, CA then this experience is perfect for you. I have never eaten food let alone an entire three course meal in a street car before. I thought it was a great experience and an unique way to checkout Melbourne. Their service was very friendly, always asking to take a picture of our party and very kind with the alcohol portions. The food was delicious especially the dessert. Be advise though that they pick you up at tram stop 125 which looks like a normal Melbourne tram stop but there is a sign that tells you it's for the dining experience, just look for older folks dressed nicely waiting at the stop and you found the place. The actual tram cart dinner lasts about an hour and a half at the most so make sure you get all your alcohol in before they drop you off!

Yelp
If you're booking a trip on the Colonial for dinner, expect friendly staff, semi-decent food and a 3 hour trolley ride through Melbourne. However, If you are unfortunate enough to sit next to obnoxiously loud and inebriated guests, prepare for 3 hours of absolute misery, that no amount of complementary alcohol will solve. There are certainly better restaurants and ways to get around to see Melbourne than this diner on wheels. But if you are going on this tour, please do everyone abroad a favor, and act with some class.

Yelp
This was a unique dining experience. Dining on fine wines and gourmet foods while traveling thru the city streets. If I am ever in Melbourne again I will be sure to eat here.

Yelp
Great evening. Arrived on time. Staff super friendly. Very nice meal. Thought it might be noisy but not so at all. A really special night out and lovely to travel around Melbourne, watch the sights and sip on a nice Victorian wine. Would recommend and will probably go back. Price is all inclusive.

Yelp
We had an excellent steak dinner with wine, etc. on Oct 4, 2015. We went with our tour group (Trafalgar/AAT Kings). Finished it off with dessert and a wonderful glass of port. It was nice to have someone else do the cooking and driving while we enjoyed the meal. The chef also has a great voice, and he broke into song a number of times. I'd go back, if it weren't so far!
