15 Best Bars in Houston

"This small, divey music venue in Midtown is an offshoot of the famous Continental Club in Austin. It has the same type of decor—a red curtain behind the stage and walls covered with concert T-shirts, vintage cigarette ads, and music paraphernalia—and a spacious patio. The crowd consists mostly of music devotees; others are here for the casual bar scene. Order a $3 Lone Star tallboy can, a Houston craft beer, or no-nonsense mixed drinks—don't even think about fancy cocktails." - Marcy de Luna

No food, so I could not give stars for that, I sure miss Adam and his barbecue that used to set up there. RIP

Classic live music venue, little sister to the one in Austin. Good bands, great bar, Shoeshine Charlies next door and the garden out back allow you to move around and stay entertained.

We are in Houston. The Latin rock music was great and we were having a wonderful time. The DJ was told he would finish at 2AM. However the service and staff for some reason or another were not liking the music and atmosphere and started shutting things down at 1:00AM. I was rushed to finishing my drink and it was 1:00 am vs the 2:00 am advertised to close. The manager and bar tenders were very rude and I truly advise for anyone cultured walking in to make sure you are aware of the racism in this establishment.

Saw Eddie 9V, great show and great small venue.

We came for a birthday party, and expected shabby chic got more shabby than chic. It looks like the place time forgot. Decent band but the bartender lady was super rude. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Saddly disappointed.

Great spot to see live music up close and personal. The band is usually in the audience for the opener and everybody is super friendly, even the bartenders. No waiting to be called on for drinks if you don't look hip. Smoking is allowed on the outdoor patio, which has awnings if there's rain. Your entrance fee gets you into the bar next door to see a second band, who knew? Take an Uber if your drinking and avoid the paid parking nearby. Seriously, you get dropped off at the front door like a celebrity.

Always enjoy seeing shows and performing at this venue! Great sound man (and musician Luba Dvorak!) and awesome staff! Go see some live music tonight!

We went to see our friend perform "Tipsy Kitten" and it was amazing! Great sound system, vintage feel to the place and there was a food server in back. Large bathrooms, pool and great bar service. Great spot for new and upcoming entertainers.
