Visited on Easter Sunday around 12:30, just hoping to grab a quick bite before walking my dog in Llandaf Field.
I asked the barman—who seemed to be the manager or someone in charge—whether I could eat outside. He told me that food was only being served inside, specifically in the restaurant area at the back of the pub.
About 10 minutes later, a family of four arrived and sat at our bench outside with menus and cutlery. I assumed someone would let them know that outdoor dining wasn’t available, but then their food arrived!
I went back in to double-check, this time asking a different barman. Before he could respond, the first gentleman stepped in and explained: “Those customers booked in advance, which is why they’re allowed to eat outside. Our kitchen is only able to handle pre-booked customers at the moment.”
A bit confusing at first, but I appreciated the clarification in the end. That said, for those of you who have been here before—have you been able to eat outside at the front without booking in advance? I can’t help but feel I was treated unfairly in this instance.
