Four of us visited in March and 12 of us in April, for lunch and a couple of pints. Service and food were excellent on both occasions. Really good pub food, exceptionally friendly staff and a casual, warm feel to the place. The recent re-opening, refurbishment and the cheerful, obliging new manager make the Conway a great community pub. Thank you! We all enjoyed and are planning a return trip.

The Conwy has recently been taken over, it is still set out as a lovely little family restaurant. Prices are pretty standard, staff very attentive and friendly, well presented, food really tasty and fresh veg used, lovely atmosphere. Lovely Sunday lunch. I will be going again when next in Cardiff, you should give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Lovely place but very limited vegan options on the menu. Only one starter and one main labelled vegan on the menu. Staff were very nice and swrvice qas quick. Had the hummus starter. Could have done with much more caramelised onion and a bit less tahini. The rest of the group enjoyed their food much more but I personally won't rush back.

Great place! Friendly and kind staff. Great food quality. We felt very comfortable eating inside. There are some tables outside too. We had the chorizo scotch egg(with roasted garlic alioli), fish and chips and focaccia BLT. Not expensive at all. Highly recommendable!

Good pub food - both the steak and the lamb were nice dishes. Slightly disappointing wine offering (although good beer selection) and the service was efficient although they were rushed off their feet! Dog friendly, which is a plus.

Visited on Easter Sunday around 12:30, just hoping to grab a quick bite before walking my dog in Llandaf Field. I asked the barman—who seemed to be the manager or someone in charge—whether I could eat outside. He told me that food was only being served inside, specifically in the restaurant area at the back of the pub. About 10 minutes later, a family of four arrived and sat at our bench outside with menus and cutlery. I assumed someone would let them know that outdoor dining wasn’t available, but then their food arrived! I went back in to double-check, this time asking a different barman. Before he could respond, the first gentleman stepped in and explained: “Those customers booked in advance, which is why they’re allowed to eat outside. Our kitchen is only able to handle pre-booked customers at the moment.” A bit confusing at first, but I appreciated the clarification in the end. That said, for those of you who have been here before—have you been able to eat outside at the front without booking in advance? I can’t help but feel I was treated unfairly in this instance.

Yelp
Found this place near our Airbnb, really good food we had sausage and mash, lamb, as well as fish and chips. Whilst the kid's burger was a little over grilled, he loved the thin fries. And the staff was super friendly, overall we had a good time and enjoyed our dinner.

Yelp
Surprise to me that the Conway was a bit out of the city center area However, that is the only negative given where our hotel was. Everything about this place was fabulous. We loved the service, the atmosphere and light decor to the food! We were first sat in the dining room but a large double family group was too loud for our liking so we requested to eat in the bar - which they accommodated. Starters of Scotch egg and Toasted Brie Cheese was a great to our meal. We both had steaks which were cooked perfectly which we enjoyed immensely. Last but not least we finished with the snickers bar tart which was inspired. So much so I want to try and mimic it at home. All in all, great food and service and we would love to go back.

Yelp
The new Conway as its now being called is not the locals only, old man pub that it once was. Now owned by Woods Brasserie it has been totally renovated and modernized and a top chef is now in the kitchen turning out delicious food. My mother said it reminded her of Ikea, but I like the minimalist look and how its kept some of its original features. So getting down to the food, which is really what this place is all about now and I really was impressed. Granted its not the cheapest place to eat, but the food is really good and the portions are nice and big. I had a pork dish with possible the best crackling I've ever had. I'd never been to the old Conway, but will defiantly be going back to the new Conway.

Yelp
Once one of your classic local pub kind of pubs, the Conway recently had a much needed makeover. Make way for the New Conway! Can you hear the trumpets tooting? No, neither can I. I was excited about this new makeover, but it's sadly lost its charm, for me at least. No longer is it a cosy front room full of locals and relaxed atmosphere, but instead it has become a posh... something. For anyone familiar with Pontcanna, this pub seems to fit right in with that middle class ability to eat out at expensive restaurants and drink fine wines. In short, this pub is now very expensive for a pub, and just not as good as other restaurants in the area. So I'm left out in the cold a little bit confused.

Yelp
I'm sure that this is a brilliant pub to frequent if you are a local. That sounds so disparaging but what I mean is that the locals seem to be completely at home here. And that can make people - outsiders - feel a little awkward. It's like when you go to your friend's house but they have to visit their grandparents... Oh, you can't get picked up for a while so you have to go too. So, you sit in your friend's grandparents' house politely refusing cups of tea... Do you know what I mean? Having said that, I love that this pub gets involved in all the ways I feel pubs should. They have quiz nights, live music, real ales, TV screens. They also sell food, which I regrettably didn't partake of because I'd already eaten - smelling it when it came through, though, made me wish I had...

Yelp
This is quite a nice little pub tucked away in Pontcanna. It is somewhere between a pub/bar/gastropub and in my mind does actually seem to work. Although I do sometimes feel a bit scruffy in there! Firstly, although since the refurb it is all smooth and modern clean lines etc. it still looks like a pub. With a pub bar. And some wood. There is a pub garden/patio at the front with pub tables. And it does beer. Real ales. Properly. However, it kind of becomes a bar when you see the range of drinks, the stylish interior and complete lack of massively clashing upholstery and carpet (where do pubs by this stuff?) and realise that you're not sticking to the floor. They also do good food and, although I haven't actually eaten any, the menu looks good and what I've seen come out on plates has tempted me. Most of all, it always seems quite quiet. Not dead. Not like no one goes there, but more out of the way and cosy.

Yelp
A friend who is a regular took me here one sunday. I was impressed -- my first taste of welshcakes, in wales and I was hooked. Proper gastropub, so simple food got a little dressing up, but I'm not complaining. Beer is well-kept, with a decent range of gins. Well worth a visit, if you like the Nice Middle Class vibe they've got going. Not if you like a character pub.

Yelp
This is the sort of pub you come to and take about 4 hours to finish your 1st pint, take it easy, relax, and why even bother looking at the time? Looking over Llandaff fields this pub really is a treat for a few easy drinks on a summers day. I wouldn't think of going here on or before I night out, this pub is for lazy Sundays only!

Yelp
A great pub this, good beer, great food and good atmosphere. Always accommodating to sports teams and players. The beer garden is ok, but it is right on the road, however still an ok place to sit and have a pint post softball game!
