Excellent place for a romantic time or just to chill. Krista and her staff are awesome, and the place is pristine. We had room 301 which is the second largest and very cozy. A must for anyone looking for a nice getaway. Essex town is close and there's many other restaurants around. Breakfast is included, while the restaurant food is spot on. We will return for sure.

Relaxing, healing, and nourishing. Staff was welcoming. The aesthetics and vibe are first class. Hospitality at its best. I never had a moment of stress or inconvenience. My massage was stellar and given by a professional with 30 years experience. The room was accommodating and elegant. The bathroom was luxurious. The grounds stunning. The food, served by a fireplace, was award winning. Most of all, the people who work so hard to make it all work, they’re seriously committed to their guests.

Ate here last night. Two people in our party had the Duck Leg Confit and said it was the best they had ever had. The crab cake appetizer was delicious - would love it as an entree! All in all a very enjoyable evening with terrific service. Thank you!

We did not stay at the Inn. We simply came to have dinner— as it has been one of our favorite dinner spots before going to the Goodspeed. I ordered the filet— I couldn’t even chew it. I know good food—A filet/tenderloin should melt in your mouth. It was unpalatable—awful! The potato gratin was average at best. The tomato confit— a joke. There were no salad “greens”, which disappointed my husband, on the menu. He thought his lamb shank was ok… Our server was very apologetic to me, which I really appreciated, but please— do not charge 50 dollars for a horrible meal. This is not the Copper Beech dining experience I remember.

We have stayed here 10 years ago and it was delightful with an awesome room and great food. Came back to celebrate a birthday and was pretty disappointed. Our room (Nextdoor to our last one) was tired. Pealing wall paper, nightstand with paint on it, spa tub didn’t work, although the bed was comfy. A scented candle was burning in the foyer of the Inn and the scent was so strong I coughed for 30 minutes. I had to call to ask it be blown out before we came for dinner. Dinner was the best part- great service and wonderful food. Truly a great meal. Back to our room to relax in the spa tub and it didn’t work. I called down and they said maybe some plug tripped. Nope. Also I was not having them come up at 9:30 to try to fix it. I am a Breakfest gal- my favorite meal- one of the reason my husband picked the place. I found the menu VERY limited and the only omelet was a cheese one. No veggies anywhere. One slice of toast (white or whole wheat) with butter not to be found! I took one bite and didn’t eat it. (never have I ever only gotten one slice when toast is offered). I asked if they had fruit since I don’t eat Breakfest potatoes, or meats and for 5$ extra I got the worst fruit bowl ever! Tasted like the fruit was old, apples and pears cut into tiny cubes. We are “inn creepers “ and I have never had a more disappointing breakfast. So limited! Nothing special, like I am used to when we stay at B and B’s. Even the omelet was mediocre. I left feeling very sad and disappointed. Glad the dinner was awesome!

This once grand inn has lost much of its luster. Place needs some TLC, staff is very inexperienced and it’s not worth the price. It used to be acclaimed for its food which is pricey and not on parr with other Connecticut inns.

We spent a weekend stay at the Copper Beech. It is a very warm and inviting inn with a charming ambiance. The entire staff, from the check in to the waitstaff and housekeeping, was exceptional. The restaurant was excellent as well. Just an overall memorable experience that we plan on repeating in the future!

Google
We had a wonderful 5 year anniversary weekend here at the height of Fall! It is so charming and quaint. The grounds are very pretty. The restaurant is fantastic. We had a superb, romantic dinner and breakfast in the atrium. Our room was spacious and very clean. We did a couples massage in our room that was stellar. A lovely, country New England Inn that will not disappoint!

Yelp
I was disappointed that my room was not great--upgraded bath a plus, but musty smell was a bit hard to take on a crisp fall evening. The staff was busy. The back location is not a good as the actual Inn, so I would suggest you make sure before booking. On the positive note, the restaurant & bar were OUTSTANDING so a good meal was an added value.

Yelp
Underwhelming. I've known CBI since 2006 and Pip's usd to be the go-to-spot when we lived in Essex. How that we have moved from Essex, we had a chance to stay at CBI - super underwhelming 1) no staff around - only saw one person the entire time were there. Looked like a ghost town. Couldn't even rate the service because there was nobody there 2) serves breakfast...... ya at 8:00am on a Saturday morning? We came down to breakfast at 7:35am. Ghost town - again no one there. Would have hoped they would have comp'd me the $19 bucks I spent at OlieOlys....... Save the $380 and stay somewhere else.

Yelp
First time ever staying here. We were at a local wedding near by. It is a very cute place. Driving to the building all the way in the back where we were staying but very unlevel. Lots of holes driving up. Breakfast they said comes with the stay. It's not really breakfast it's muffins and bagels with yogurt or cereal. Other local places to eat near by. Our room was very nice. The place could definitely use some updating for sure but it was cute. The service was great! If you want water bottles. I would bring your own. They do have 1 blue bottle of water that I'm pretty sure you have to pay for. Otherwise it was very nice with our walk out balcony.

Yelp
We booked an overnight in room 217 which was in the carriage house. When we arrived we were shocked by how different it looked from the pictures online. The main house and carriage house had peeling paint. To the immediate left of the carriage house there was a mess as well as garbage on the side porch (see pictures). We were willing to let that go until we stepped inside. There was a horrible odor from dampness/mold. They had dehumidifiers running on each floor but it wasn't helping. When we entered the room the odor was still there. It was newly painted and had a new floor but the furniture wasn't the same as in the picture and looked tired. The windows on the door going to the porch was very dirty (see pic) and the porch was unkempt with peeling paint and furniture in disarray. We went to the front desk to see if there was another room available as we could see another house that looked fairly new (believe the 300's rooms are in there) but they were all booked. The hostess said she could give us a refund so we left to go to another location. Over a week went by and I still hadn't received my refund so I called the Inn. No apology was given she just said she is doing it now. Very disappointed...

Yelp
Thanksgiving at Copper Beech sounded like a good idea. Not at all what I was envisioning. First of all, I'll concede that Thanksgiving promises to be a ZOO at any restaurant. I've waited to submit until the day after so my opinions have a chance to simmer down and become more objective. We were seated in the bar- dark, gloomy, no table clothes. Nowhere to hang our coats. Peoples' coats were hanging on the ground on the backs of chairs, onto the floor. Not very attractive and undoubtedly, a trip hazard. A nearby round table in the small adjoining hallway was crammed into a corner with 5 or 6 people and their coats were on the back of their seats. Pretty tacky for CBI. The menu offerings all sounded good, but I doubt anyone could eat all that was offered. So, they had you at the $93 per person price when you had to pay for it all and probably couldn't even begin to eat it all. My halibut was very good but was presented on an immense amount of mashed potato and gravy and appeared very unappetizing. Brought to mind something one may get at a diner or much lesser restaurant. CBI in the past has been touted for it's upscale ambience and menu offerings with a gourmet fare and smaller but well -crafted portions. I was extremely disappointed with the venue and the portion sizes. A dessert came as a dried-up meringue blob with 2 unrecognizable balls of something on top. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Won't go back again. CBI struck out on this effort. Maybe broke off more than it could chew (ha ha good restaurant joke) and couldn't pull of what their old reputation promised.

Yelp
Excellent food. Service was also outstanding. Restaurant was very quiet. I think is because the confusion if they are opened or closed. But they are opened and should be considered for dining.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying the website room booking could use improvement. It's a bit primitive. Same for the phone system, an interactive voice response system that no one ever answers. Makes late check-in a bit odd. Once here you're going to love it. Great looking mansion with an elegant restaurant and a warm friendly bar. Super looking grounds too. Paid about $450 for two nights in the Carriage House.

Subrina G.

Yelp
We were leery about going to this restaurant with all the poor reviews. My family and I enjoyed it though! Our waitress, Cameron, was super attentive and engaging. The rest of the staff were also friendly. We all loved what we ordered. The atmosphere was very quiet, but it was a Thursday evening.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Service was entirely impersonal. The attraction of a bed and breakfast is personal service, which was entirely lacking. We stayed there multiple times a decade or so ago and the experience was a warmer one.

Yelp
Serendipity brought us to the Copper Beech Inn. It wasn't planned but it became a highlight of our three-week vacation. The hotel and its grounds were incredible, providing a serene environment for actual relaxation. We attempted to stay further nights but could not cancel our other previous hotel reservations. An unexpected memory we shall treasure. The inn encompasses three separate buildings, The main building was built over 200 years ago. It provides the main dining areas, bar and guest rooms upstairs. The woodwork within this building is astounding. It reminds me of the type you would see in old Victorian homes. The interior looks pristine due to their wonderful upkeep and maintenance. There is an enclosed veranda that overlooks an elaborate garden area. This garden has a fountain surrounded by colorful beds of flowers. Chairs provide the ability to partake in its tranquil splendor. The other two buildings are a renovated carriage house converted into hotel rooms and a newer building containing more rooms. We stayed in the newer building. It has a main entrance hall which can be used as a reception area. Our room was easily over 400 sq feet. It contained an ultra-modern walk-in shower and spacious jacuzzi tub. Our room faced out onto a large natural area. We could not believe the quietness of the surrounding environment. Total bliss. We purchased the breakfast meal plan. We were provided a menu of about six different choices to choose from. Found it difficult to select due to the offerings. Their coffee and orange juice were great. The meals were also delightful. We were not able to partake of dinner since they do not serve dinner on Monday and Tuesday; the days we visited. But we conversed with other guests who had dinner and were pleased with both service and meal quality. It is important to mention that this inn is family owned. Christa was the family member we interacted with during our stay. She has a delightful personality and while treating all patrons with respect, as we observed, she demonstrates her appreciation for the guests visiting. She provides services in the traditional ways. Christa's temperament aligns with the inn's values exactly; excellent service provides returning customers. Her jobs are many. She interacted with us during check in / check out and breakfasts. Jose, a dining room employee, provided excellent service with all aspects of our meals. I have spent my professional life traveling both domestically and internationally. The quality of service provided to us was on par with what I would expect from the high-tier hotels. It was personal, professional, and appreciated. I highly recommend this "get away" for your next travel if you are in the area.

Yelp
We just experienced a wonderful New Year's evening a Copper Beach Inn. We were welcomed by a wonderful hostess and shown our beautifully set table in front of a glowing fireplace. Our waiter was excellent as was our meal. We had the calamari appetizer which was the finest calamari I had had in a very long time. I had the baked stuffed shrimp which was very good. Later we sat in the bar where we again had an excellent wait staff and listened to great music. The inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas and there was a magical feeling to the whole experience. Before we left the hostess took several pictures of us and also gave us a brief history of the inn. I would recommend TCBI to anyone and plan to return soon.

Yelp
There are a few restaurants in New London County where you can pay a little more but get a very much better experience and Copper Beech is one. The restaurant is very comfortable and I imagine the rooms would be very nice too. The menu has 6 or 8 entré's but still enough choices to have trouble deciding. I had salmon fillet with curry sauce over rice. Frankly I was skeptical of the flavor combination but got it because I don't normally get enough fish. Now I learned that stronger tastes can compliment one another. Happy surprise. The ladies both had pan seared scallops which looked fantastic. The forks were out, looking for a taste of my dish but I said nay nay. The worst thing at the end of a meal is thinking "Just one more bite". Deserts and coffee also very nice. They make a mean Manhattan too. There are quaint attractions and shops nearby so a short excursion could enhance your experience.

Yelp
Mothers Day disaster. Should have stuck with IHOP. Over priced, mediocre food, poor service. Had 12:15 reservations, arrived early, seated early (wasn't busy) after requesting our server twice, 31 minutes later, he arrived, Andy, with a condescending attitude towards my wife, stating, "l already apologized can we move on???" He didn't apologize to me and my daughter and at $40 a plate, (mediocre food at best, in all fairness, the $16 cup of seafood chowder was good) you better beg forgiveness, it's Mother's Day". Apparently he told my wife, who had to track him down, a half ass apology, blaming all the guests with reservations at or around noon for arriving and his colleagues for the miscommunication. Dude, this isn't IHOP or the Cheese Cake Factory in terms of volume, it's by reservation and they weren't entirely book (a red flag when I made the reservation the afternoon before Mother's Day). This waiter, I believe his name is Andy, has been in the business for a long time, (to long apparently) this wasn't some college students part time job. I insisted on being seated somewhere other than the greenhouse, hot as hell, overlooking the parking lot). We were moved and assigned a new waiter, she was great and if she had her name tag I would share it. Having decades of experience in the high end service business I shouldn't have had to fetch the manager to share my concerns, unfortunately that wasn't the case at the Copper Beech Inn. The manager greeted us, he expressed his concern without listening to my wife, made a scripted apology that included the token free dessert, (strawberry shortcake at $16 is outrageous). I got a sense from his approach ( see google reviews), this wasn't his first rodeo. As for the food, the Cheese Cake entree (not a dessert) was delightful. My wife's prime rib on the other hand was order medium, when it arrived everything on the dish, vegetables, mashed potatoes were floating in a pool of bloody water, wouldn't call it Au Jus sauce, more like when you cook meat that's not fully de thawed. Don't recommend.

Yelp
We used to come all the time and loved it. Since new ownership came in, this wonderful establishment has unfortunately gone down hill. They were horribly understaffed and food was brought to the wrong tables all night. Both food and drink took a long time to come out. It is no longer worth the high price tag. Do not recommend

Yelp
I was extremely disappointed with our choice of the Copper Beech. It's easiest to simply say that we have gotten more when paying far less. But I'll be more specific and save fellow Yelpers from making the same mistake. The northeast has seen an inordinate amount of rain, but the condition of the driveway leading up to our room in the Comstock was deplorable. Huge ruts and a 10x6ft puddle ( and no margin for error around the narrow drive) should have been the first " turn back" indicator. We were pleasantly relieved when we saw our room, however, and hoped that things would get better. It was spotlessly clean and ( though not top shelf as described on the website) reasonably furnished and large enough to promise a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, when my husband sat on the bench at the foot of the bed to remove his shoes a leg came off. Feeling somewhat responsible, he examined it only to find multiple repairs had been done ( unsuccessfully). Clearly not ok. We turned in after a busy day only to be awakened by revelries outside on a shared veranda. Since it was past 10:00 I asked if they might take the party to another part of the property so we could get some sleep. 40 minutes later they complied-they retired to a room below us. Though it is clear that a review cannot withhold a star because of the bad manners of fellow guests, the facility can certainly be held responsible for some degree of soundproofing. I'm writing this review at 1:00 and they are still at it. It sounds like a TV jerry springer brawl. So, no, I cannot recommend this place. We were expecting a quiet New England Inn and, instead, got a Super 8 at a truck stop PS. I sent a detailed email about the situation described above to the management after we got home. We heard nothing. NOTHING! Do you need any more information before turning back???

Yelp
Wonderful Valentine's Day dinner last night. Great staff and the food was amazing. We began with huge shrimp cocktail and the best mixed beets salad I have ever had. Sweet, tangy, I could have had just that as an entree! For our main course, I had the steak and Kim had the pan-seared Branzino, both cooked to perfection. Great bar area, fun love music and a classy atmosphere. Can't wait to return.

Steve L.

Yelp
We read about the Inn and saw many reviews--- but the geographic location and its history led to intrigue and visiting the Inn for an overnight. We are pleased we did. The property isnt pristine but it is representative of a New England Inn. It has been an inn for many a year and it may need some paint and the driveway is gravel and not flat-- but that made me hesitate but want to explore. The staff/ employees were kind and very nice to us. The efforts they made any shortcomings unimportant-- the dinner menu was accurate outside the hotel but they had a small list of specials-- not accurate.... but this was the blemish we found. We did love the rooms . Stayed in the Comstock Building and I suspect the experience one has with the rooms depends on location. The rooms were super deluxe, fantastically clean, and the bathroom had a whirlpool tub. The size of the rooms were generous and I loved the porch off the back. Parking was just outside and waking up to the geography and quiet was a wonderful treat. We did try the restaurant. All four of us loved dinner. Complimented the clam chowder during dinner and then the next day. Flavor was wonderful and will be remembered. Dessert was amazing with everyone saying their choice was best. Service was attentive and helpful. Breakfast was more of the same and the food was memorable and the service efficient and kind. Will we return? Yes we will and next time it needs to be longer than an overnight adventure.

Yelp
We went here for my graduation dinner, and it was a very memorable experience. My boyfriend at the time was a total narcissist. His signature cologne was Égoïste. I should have gone with my first choice over him anyway, then I'd have less to regret.

John A.

Yelp
Hadn't been there in some time. Parking was a problem. Had reservation for dinner for four at 7:00 pm. Arrived at 7:00 and was rudely told it would be 20 to 40 minute wait. Went to bar and ordered drinks, had to stand at single slot at bar, but 4 people nicely gave us there four chairs. Bartenders were very nice. After 25 minutes checked with hostess, I think her name was Gianna and she rudely told us there are people in front of us, she would let us know. After 50 minutes we were finally seated, the meal was good but the service was very slow. It would appear they don't book reservations smartly based on the kitchen and staff. In simple terms it was a bad experience we won't bother to come back!!!! John B.

Yelp
Interesting venue... The bar area is quite nice and service staff great! Yes this an inn.. with rooms and facilities. We found the restaurant to be average and not the quality of dish or service one would expect.

J S.

Yelp
We have dined here in the past, usually a good meal. However, a few months back we had a reservation, thru open table, and they called about 45 mins before to tell us they had to cancel us. Why? They just booked a big party and needed all their tables. I was amazed at the pure guts to do that, told her so and mentioned we'd never be back. I wanted to do a review on open table but they removed my reservation so I couldn't offer a review. So why would I give them my business?

Paul C.

Yelp
We went for breakfast this morning hoping for a nice meal. The service was unbelievably slow slow slow and after reminding our waitperson several times for cream for the coffee, it never came. I had to ask the couple at the next table if I could borrow theirs as my coffee was getting cold. My companion didn't get his hot tea until 10 minutes after we were done with breakfast. Meanwhile other tables who came in after we did had gotten their tea served before we did. The food was mediocre and a bit pricey for the size of the portions served. We eat out almost every meal and believe in supporting locally owned businesses. This however is one locally owned business to which we will not be returning.

Yelp
TLDR, experience in list form: rude, mumbling, and complacent staff wet room rugs room rug stains room mildew smell no TV signal at all broken/shower and shower door poor driveway maintenance poor deck/private entrance cleanliness incorrect dinner orders incorrect breakfast orders the dinner food is nothing special the breakfast food is not decent This is my first ever online written review. Period. I want to mention that we were told by some that visited the Copper Beech Inn back in the 90s that the food was incredible and that it was a beautiful place to stay. We were excited for our stay and our dinner while also having pretty moderate expectations. From check-in to check-out, all interactions with the staff were sad, and poor quality experiences. It was clear that no one there cared much for the Inn, whatever it once represented historically, or the guests perception of it. At least that was what the mood conveyed from the moment we were welcomed and directed to our room to the moment I said "thank you" and walked out. The gravel driveway was not well kept. The deck and railings of our private porch were littered with cobwebs. Our room had a stained, wet carpet and smelled of mildew. The sound of an empty, auto-spraying air freshener near the bed is representative of the same attitude conveyed by the staff. The heavy sliding shower door was off its runner and could not be fully closed, resulting in water spraying onto the floor. Our dinner and breakfast experiences were no better as our meals were not as we ordered them and the staff continued to behave like we were an inconvenience. The effort made to write these two sentences is about all I feel the food itself was worth. The Copper Beech Inn, some historical, special experience, probably deserves better care when it comes to the rooms and the way guests are treated. While the young, carefree staff do the bare minimum to accommodate you, your need to help them do their jobs quickly convinces you that it would do the Inn justice to hire YOU to run the place.

Yelp
We were here last year for Thanksgiving day. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating because five of us were placed in a tiny corner by a drafty window and a huge plant grazed the backs of our heads during the whole dinner. The food, if I'm being honest, was passible at best--reminding us of cruise ship food--runny, bland, mass produced. The worst of it was that it was Thanksgiving, and inside, many tables had linen tablecloths and napkins. We were seated in the greenhouse area, where there were no tablecloths at all, which surprised us for the price, and because it was a special holiday. We felt like we were sitting at a diner. We asked them to move the plant, or at least shift our table away from it, and the manager refused to do so, because she said there was nowhere to put us or the plant. We asked for a tablecloth, and she also refused, saying that the people who got table cloths on the inside, had booked their reservations well in advance. She also said that they requested the particular rooms that had tablecloths. Having never been to Copper Beech, how would I know that I had to request a tablecloth? Honestly, the whole thing was just absurd. Dinner for the five of us amounted to just over $700, as I recall, and I remember feeling sick at the waste of money, and also embarrassed/saddened because we had an older couple with us to whom we were trying to give a memorable day. Since then, we have driven by Copper Beech many times, tempted to go in and sit at the bar, but we just keep driving. The experience just left such a bad taste in our mouths, no pun intended, that we refuse to give them the business. Don't even get me started on the rundown building itself, that chipping front porch and tasteless decor. All in all, I would say that we could've overlooked so many of the problems at the staff not being so complacent and rude and condescending. If anyone has been around while and remembers what good customer service was like, I'm here to tell you that you're not going to get it at Copper Beach. We are not demanding people, but we do expect, or at least, hope for, some kindness and decency, especially when we're out to spend our hard-earned money.

Yelp
They have no concept of customer service, timeliness, and employee kids who are completely unqualified.

Peter K.

Yelp
The Copper Beech Inn used to be on of our family's favorite places to dine. What happened to this place? We could always count on an excellent, well-cooked meal. Not anymore! Of the five of us dining, not one of us enjoyed our food. I ordered the Salmon with a Terriyaki glaze. What I received was a pice of undercooked fish with jarred Terriyaki glaze smeared on top. The rice was just that.....plain, unseasoned, flavorless rice. I will give the high marks for the vegetables though......they had flavor. On our way out, no one was in the lobby.....except one employee sprawled a crossed the sofa in front of the fireplace. I guess the fact that there we're virtually no other diners that night should have been a top off. It is very sad to see such a beautiful place slowly crumble into demise!

Alis T.

Yelp
Very Old School charm and warmth. Classic beautiful old home with large rooms and baths. The Bar is terrific and drinks were perfect, dinner and breakfast was ok. Service is personal and very well done. Would go back with bar I'm mind.

Yelp
My Wife and I choose the Copper Beach in for our small COVID wedding reception in November 2020. I knew the minute I spoke to Claudia that we were going to book our venue with her. Claudia was amazing and so attentive to details. With her help we had the most Intimate and Romantic venue . All our guest (20) where impressed by the Dinner selections and just how Delicious everything was. They also commented on the attentiveness of the staff which were awesome. Everyone said that it was the Best Wedding they have ever attended ! Thanks so much for making our Special Day absolutely the BEST, Thank You Claudia & Staff, Best Mr & Mrs Yagovane P.S. We will return for Valentine's Day

Dawn S.

Yelp
I do not recommend! Service is slow, food is overpriced and dull, parking is a nightmare, and they automatically charge you 22% tip (for a party of two). Best part is their music selection is depressing! However, if you just broke up with your significant other and need a good cry, this may be what you need! We, however will not be back!

Mike B.

Yelp
Great food! 4 of us ate in the dining room. Wedge salad, crab cakes, chowder, short ribs, cod......All delicious!

Laura M.

Yelp
We stayed one night for a quick anniversary getaway and the whole stay was great. We were in the carriage house in back of the property, which was really lovely. You can enter through the house lobby or the private back deck entrance. The room was very large with a huge king (maybe california king bed), writing desk, small bar area, large closet, and large marble bathroom with a gorgeous deep, full length soaking tub and separate marble shower. The place was immaculate with great attention to detail. Bed was on the firm side but very comfy, and linens and pillows were cozy and nice quality. Great value and honestly could have been much more expensive than what I paid. we had dinner and breakfast at the main house restaurant, and food and service were wonderful. very happy we came and would definitely book again for a special occasion getaway.

Yelp
Normally it's our go to....solid, every time. I don't normally post bad reviews but when the server asked we said it was just ok and we tried to share some feedback. He said he would come back at the end to talk to us. He never did. We ate at the bar and the service was really poor, the server continually walked by us without checking in. We had to waive a hand in the air to get a second drink. Bread was delayed, dinner was delayed. The mussels had phenomenal flavor but the portion was skimpy. The fois gras was top notch. The salmon salad was really weak. Tomatoes weren't ripe. Greens were poorly cut and the whole dish was just off balance. We will go again but tonight was a bummer. Will hope same server is off that night.

Yelp
This is one of those rare restaurants where every time you go, it gets better and better! Tonight was the third time we have dined here, and the meal was exceptional! We are celebrating our fifteenth anniversary by spending the night at this beautiful 1800's Inn and we dined in the restaurant. We were seated in the garden sunroom overlooking the gardens- a bright, sunny room filled with windows and light. Every aspect of the meal was good. The bread was fresh, warm, with a chewy crust- just the way I like it. The Caesar salad was unique- three wedges of romaine topped with dressing, shaved Parmesan, and freshly made croutons. The romaine was served cold and was crisp, not wilted. Excellent! The crab cakes were meaty and delicious, served with a horseradish cream sauce. The skirt steak was amazing- the meat was flavorful, and tender- but with substance to it- the way skirt steak is supposed to be. The seared scallops were nicely cooked, and the lobster risotto was creamy and filled with chunks of lobster. Dessert, always a necessity despite feeling stuffed, was a chocolate creme cake- we asked for a scoop of chocolate gelato on the side and were graciously accommodated. Yum! A near perfect celebratory meal to commemorate our anniversary!

Yelp
I've had meals here when it was a Michelin rated restaurant My wife and I went today along with 14 other friends and family. We have been coming back for five years to enjoy a holiday meal. The menu was a pre fixe menu consisting of an appetizer of either fried calamari, lobster bisque or bib lettuce salad. The main course choices were a hanger steak, sea scallops or PEI mussels. I cannot speak for those with the PEI mussels but the hanger steak came out cold and was extremely chewy, the sea scallops were more like bay scallops and over done, dry and chewy, While I did not complain at the time of service I feel it is necessary to forewarn anyone who goes there for dinner based on reputation. Please be aware before going.

Yelp
Before I start my review, I have to say, please ignore every review before May 2013. The old restaurant/inn shut down, and renovated and reopened under new management. I never had the pleasure of going with the old management, but the dining experience on 7/6/13 was top notch. I made a reservation for 6:00, as we had theatre tickets, so needed an earlier dinner. On arrival, the hostess was welcoming. When we said we had never been there before, she offered to show us all of the various dining rooms that we could choose from. The atrium was lovely but was a little warm with the sun pouring in...would ordinarily be quite lovely but since it was 95 degrees outside, we opted for a window seat in the slightly cooler main dining room. The restaurant was not too full at 6:00 (as would be expected) but filled up by the time we left around 7:45. We sat down and our water glasses were filled right away. Our server came over and took our drink order, we ordered a bottle of wine. She came back quickly and as she was pouring, answered some questions about the menu. It is very important to note that the menu varied slightly from what was online. The chef tries to use all fresh/local ingredients so I understand having to change things up here or there. For our appetizers, I opted for the "Copper" Beet Salad, and my husband ordered the French Onion Soup. While waiting for our appetizers, a server brought us some crusty bread with butter with a grilled rosemary sprig on top. The bread was warm and fresh and quite tasty! My salad was so good. Beets, greens, shaved fennel, and some sort of Gorgonzola creme. The French onion soup was tasty as well, with hints of rosemary in the broth, it tasted very fresh. For my main course, I had the pan seared day boat scallops with lobster risotto. It was presented beautifully and looked so fresh and summery. I couldn't wait to dig in and forgot to take a picture until after I had eaten a scallop (oops!!) The scallops were huge and cooked to perfection. My only complaint was that the risotto was a little al dente for my liking. It needed about 3 minutes of additional cooking time, which would have also reduced the excess liquid on the plate. But the flavor was so wonderful that I ate it anyway! There were several huge chucks of lobster in the risotto and it was well seasoned. My husband had the beef tenderloin, which came with potato au gratin and carrots. It was cooked slightly more than medium, but was still so juicy and flavorful that it was not an issue. Everything on his plate was tasty and all of the flavors complemented each other perfectly. We decided to share a dessert and could not decide between the apple crepe and the duo of chocolate mousse, so asked our server to pick the one she liked best. We were delighted to receive a wonderful warm apple crepe. The exterior of the crepe was crisp and flaky, sort of like it was made with phyllo, but inside was a perfect crepe texture. The apples were perfectly cooked, and the cinnamon ice cream and spiced carrot purée were perfect accompaniments. Our meal was wonderful, start to finish. The decor was up to date and the only odd thing was that they were playing rap/hip hop music throuout the restaurant. It seemed like an odd choice but it was not very loud so most people probably did not notice. I stopped paying attention as soon as we had our wine, so it was not too noticeable. The service was all that you would expect it to be. We had never been under the old management, but we will definitely be back again. Maybe next time we will give the inn a try for an overnight stay. I would urge everyone to give the new Copper Beech Inn restaurant a try, it is definitely worth it!!

Yelp
Copper beech bfast was just as good as their dinner. We were seated in the front glass area. It was raining and romantic :) The table already had the most adorable freshly baked pastries. Our coffees came quickly and they kept them coming! We had smoked salmon bagel, jardin du marten (poached eggs, leeks, mushrooms on English muffin) and frittata with potato roast. All of them were delicious. I absolutely loved my frittata, it was a bit spicy and very well seasoned. It was a perfect breakfast!

Yelp
We have been dining at Copper Beach Inn for many years. Absolutely love the atmosphere and food. We brought new friends Friday to restaurant and was informed new chef in the kitchen and brand new menu! It was just awful!! Bring back the old chef and old menu and we will be back!!!!! Very very disappointing evening!!

Yelp
So disappointing!! Ordered sirloin steak medium and came out well done and tough. It was also cold so sent it back and came back warm well done and tough! When asked how everything was I explained and asked for at least a discount and did not receive one. It was uneatable so did not eat it and still did not not get a discount! Very poor service and management I will never go back and will not recommend to anyone!

Yelp
Rose Negroni followed by the scrumptious Beet Salad and the best bread. Main entrée Diver Scallops over lobster/corn risotto was very good. Schnitzel across the table was excellent. Dessert of Lemon/Olive Oil cake was perfect and great for sharing over coffee. Crowded but good service.

Yelp
We had a family and friend gathering there and everything was perfect. The staff was super friendly and the food was excellent. The salmon melted in your mouth and the chicken Marsala was perfect. I highly recommend this classic and rustic New England style establishment!

Yelp
Such a beautiful place, the food and service at the restaurant are excellent. It was mesmerizing to walk inside and see how stunning the inn is, it has a lovely combination of historic charm with modern amenities. I am planning to go back as an overnight visit as part of my bucket list. Just gorgeous!

Yelp
Made reservations months in advance for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was great. The service was not. I'm still honestly not sure what happened, but throughout the meal, our waitress became increasingly confused and bumbling, as if she were having a minor stroke or sneaking shots from a hidden flask between table visits. We watched with perverse anticipation as the remaining waitstaff scrambled to clean up the damage this woman caused - mixed up orders, forgotten orders, spilled ice on the floor, inconsistent or contradictory stories about items on the menu - it was all kind of fun for a bit until it started to become annoying. As we were waiting for the check, she came over to apologize and tell us our food was on the way. When we reminded her we had eaten, she apologized profusely and repeated again that our food was on the way. Then she brought us the check twice. The people next to us ordered three times because she forgot what they wanted? Rest of the waitstaff were very nice and did their best to smooth things over while tending to their own tables, but I simply can't leave 5 stars for this one. This was a very bizarre service experience.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed there for his birthday. The room was spectacular. We then went to dinner in the main dining room. The service was excellent and the food was superb. It was truly a wonderful experience!!!!!

Yelp
I review restaurants based on ambience ( 4+ starts), food ( 3-4 stars) and service (2-3 stars). This is a beautiful place, we arrived and we greeted warmly and the hostess set about to get us to a table and asked another hostess to bring us; though some of our party were clearly looking at other rooms ( and admiring a bridal couple), so instead of warmly offering to wait and encourage to enjoy; we got the rushed glare of I need to seat you and even said so! We sat at a table, nice view, our hosts were very happy. After waiting a moment for a server, we started to order drinks, and oh my, another glare of "could you decide faster". Food ordered and we are enjoying ourselves. Ceaser salad with parmesan bacon excellent, Scallops and wiener schnitzel to die for. Though my wife's chicken was over-cooked. We clearly talked about sharing salads amongst couples; it took a busboy to notice we were using the bread plates to share and brought other plates - where was our server - did she not listen? so dessert, I ordered the creme brûlée, creamy, warm and absolutely delicious. But, I made it clear do not bring me the cookie with chocolate as my wife is allergic, but bring it to my friend who was having ice cream. You guessed it. Cookie came on my dessert and my wife opted not to share. You would ask, why not send it back, well you would have had to have come come buy and ask. I ordered an espresso; full demi-tas, hot and perfect. I would go back for the ambiance, food; but at their prices I would have expected better, friendlier service.

Yelp
Started at the bar since we were early for our reservation. Had delicious oysters and a nice charcuterie that was very tasty, besides the dry aged meats and cheeses, it also comes with a small plate of gherkins, olives mustards etc. For dinner I had the special wild boar on bone. This was delicious! Tender, porky but not gamey at all. Very very nice place and waiter was on top of it all including drinks and re-filling water!

Yelp
The Copper Beech Inn has two restaurants: the elegant Copper Beech restaurant and the more casual Brasserie Pip. We chose the brasserie based on reviews and by viewing menus beforehand. It seemed to have a more enticing menu.......and from the looks of it, other patrons likely agreed because the brasserie was busier than the other restaurant. Brasserie Pip serves classic French brasserie food. Brasserie is the French word for tavern and this tiny restaurant plays every bit the part. In addition to table/bench seating and a small bar, there is an enclosed porch section overlooking the outdoor gardens. Although we couldn't see much at night, I bet sitting on the porch during the day would make for an impressive sun filled afternoon lunch. As for the food and wine, it was excellent. The lamb sausage was terrific and the way it was prepared reminded me of a fajita. Not surprising, food portions were more in line with common european portions rather than jumbo american portions. My only wish was that I had slightly more fish almandine, but we ordered plenty of other food and I was full by the end of the night. Someone at my table had the NY strip with frites and that appeared to be of a decent size. Lastly, if you go, don't skip dessert. The crème brulee and rhubarb cobbler were both superb, and although we didn't order it the chocolate mouse seemed to be a popular item at other tables. By the way, in case you're wondering what the inn's name refers to......it's in reference to a large copper colored beech tree located in front of the inn.

Yelp
We've been here a few times for celebratory reasons (birthdays, achievements, anniversary). The last time we went (June, 2018) will be our last time. Here's why: - They no longer have filet mignon - Water served at room temperature. When we asked for ice water the waiter came back with ice cubes in glasses and spoons to dish the ice cubes out with. - The bread is no longer served in a basket and left on the table. Instead the waiter dished out a piece of bread on each person's plate (that's it one piece per person). That's probably okay anyway as it was as hard as a rock. - Hangar steak - supposed to be cooked medium rare. It was barely cooked at all. There was a LOT of blood on the plate. It was sent back and was cooked a wee bit longer. Still LOTS of blood on the plate. It was a very tough piece of meat. - Hamburger (regular ol' hamburger) supposed to be cooked medium well. Again, it was barely cooked at all. The inside was raw. It too was sent back and came back tough and black on the outside and rare and raw on the inside. Gross. - The third member of our party ordered the lamb and was very happy with it. - The tables are very rickety and rocking. - The music was terribly obnoxious and LOUD. We felt like we were at a dive bar. The ambiance of this restaurant does not call for that sort of music. - Way too expensive for the food that was served and the atmosphere we endured. - We could have done better at Denny's. I kid you not.

Yelp
The inn itself is nicely appointed, with rooms decorated in typical New England B&B charm. Some rooms have semi-private balconies with private bathrooms, others range from two twin beds to larger room and bed configurations. My issue here lies with the service. Breakfast was included, but the breakfast area was chaotic, and the food was just ok. We had to keep reusing our teabags because no one ever came back to our table. Our dishes were touted as "including an arugula salad", but I am afraid 1 tablespoon does not equate to a salad, that's more of a garnish. Checkout also proved to be problematic as their credit card system was not working properly. If you book here, expect to have trouble paying with a different credit card then you reserved with. The owner tried to say it was because I booked with a third party, but I booked directly through their site, and several other customers had the same problem. Time to change the system if that's the case.
