The welcome here is warm, the tea refreshing and the food is divine. A wonderful place for a pot of tea, a slice of cake, a cream tea or a filling lunch. Top notch

Absolutely the best gluten free cream tea in Somerset! The staff are friendly and helpful, catering for both coeliac and nut allergies with a focus on separating allergens.

With the demise of Mortimers in Dulverton (oh just so sad) we had to go here to try it out. Never been in as it was always crowded; today's visit was tacked onto the end of a mini-errands run (which also took in the excellent Seven Fables and Rothwell and Dunworth bookshops). Coffee was good. I had the cafetiere version and it was wonderful. Tomato soup was good, and the salmon and cream cheese sandwich also went down well. The cakes looked really good, but time prevented sampling. Dog friendly, a bit squashed, but service kind. Not a buzzing atmosphere, but gentle and calm.

We wanted to try their afternoon tea after googling them in the local area and given their reviews were really excited to treat ourselves to a hearty, local and no-frills but delicious afternoon tea. When i called on Saturday morning to ask if they had any availability for a table of two for afternoon tea that day, the young lady on the phone said they are fully booked and there is not any space at all for that day. She also pretended to not understand or hear me. When i asked my husband to call in 5 minutes, miraculously they had a table available for two for “Steve” whichever time we liked. Which was really strange because 2 mins ago they did not have any availability at all all day and when my husband called he could book whatever time he liked. I guess they do not get many tourist sounding customers. We still wanted to go and try and not let this confusion of availability bother us. When we arrived the older lady looked like she was very stressed and did not even smile once. We order an afternoon tea for two for £32. Sandwiches were absolutely made with the cheapest bread and butter. It felt like sandwiches you would have in a school dinner at best. Smoked salmon in the sandwich was ok and fresh. The cheese and chutney sandwich was ok. The scones were fresh and tasty and portions were good. Presentation is not up to par with £32 they charge. We did not even get them stacked on a tier cake tray it was all showed on normal plates. We did not even get extra napkins. We chose christmas cake and Victoria sponge for choice of our cakes. My husband said Christmas cake was ok. My Victoria sponge did not feel fresh at all. Sponge was dry and hard. We were expecting a local, rustic but authentic place with freshly made cakes, good coffee and smiling welcoming service (no matter what customers sounded on the phone) We did not quiet get that. Gave 5 stars to athmosphere only because it looked authentic and rustic. We would not spend more time in there longer than it takes for our coffee stays warm.

We asked if they had gluten free bread, which they didn't. They had some GF cake. Ok great. We'll come back. We hadn't had lunch so walked over to Tantivy to get a sandwich. No. They are shut on a Tuesday, as is the cafe down the road Mortimers. So we went back to The Copper Kettle 10 minutes later. 2.48pm to be precise. They were closed!! Even though before leaving home we checked the website. It says 4.15pm. It feels like Dulverton doesn't want the business.I can understand closing before 3pm in the winter but not in June. The Great British afternoon tea seems have to been lost in Dulverton.

The Copper Kettle has become part of our regular visits to Exmoor. Set in the centre of Dulverton it is the perfect place for home made cakes, coffee good food. If you want to enjoy The Copper Kettle breakfast on a Saturday would advise booking. Whatever you decide to try you won’t be disappointed and you will be served by helpful staff who make your visit special.

Lovely olde worlde atmosphere. Run by a bunch of really friendly ladies selling good food at reason prices. 2 smoothies, pot of tea and an americano plus four generous slices of cake for £25. A neighbouring table seemed to be eating a high tea. It looked amazing! Suggest that might want to book in the summer months.

We went to Dulverton on a Saturday and randomly a couple of eateries were closed so we ended up at the Copper Kettle. It's a lovely little tea room with friendly staff and we had a delicious cream tea!
