Location is stunning and food pretty good, but rooms leave a lot to be desired. Bed very soft and uncomfortable. Furniture dated 70s brown stuff that wouldn't fetch £20 at our local auction house. Amazing view which it would be lovely to sit and gaze at if you had something comfortable to sit on rather than cheap canvas directors chairs. Staff were very friendly and helpful. With a little imagination and investment this place could be stunning, but is actually rather disappointing for the money.

We were in room 3 and haf no complaints. Bed was comfy shower was awesome. The meal was also very good. The road up to the hotel may look steep but trust me it's no bother. Be aware that at high tide you may have to wait a bit to get out and in but again it adds to the beauty. The view from the room was magic

We stayed for four nights but had some hesitation after reading a number of the reviews. I rang the hotel and spoke to them about my concerns and they were very honest and approachable. Certainly our fears were unfounded. The location is just superb, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Some reviews have complained about the rooms. We stayed in Room 12 and it was terrific. The housekeeping was first rate and the room nice and large. It could have done with some additional plug sockets for charging phones etc but we managed fine. We'll certainly be back again.

Couldn’t believe the last 100 yards of the journey. Take care if tide is in & the steepness of the hotel driveway. Many steps onsite, not for those who find steps hard. But once inside it was well worth it. Reception leads to wonderful spacious lounge with comfy sofas & spectacular view of the river. Drinks/food menus on the coffee tables. We had a wonderful large bedroom. No need to close the curtains at night you are not overlooked & the misty river in the morning was very atmospheric. The bathroom views made you feel as if you were the only people around. Restaurant you can eat inside or breakfast outside on the terrace. Food was well cooked & well presented. Watching the boats on the river. Some of the areas did need a little decorating but hopefully one day I’ll go back

Nice view of the river outside of the hotel. Amazing food at the restaurant, scallop callanolli was tasty, cod fillet was amazing, as it was nicely cooked and we'll seasoned. Beef was good too. The best meal we've had in Cornwall. The room had a nice view of the river, but the bed was not very comfortable. Complimentary chef made biscuits were tasty. Service was really good and friendly. I left my jacket there but the staff were really helpful and left me a message so I can collect it back.

5 star view 3 star Hotel 1star room. If it didn't have the view then I would struggle to recommend this hotel. Over priced both in room cost and food in the restaurant. Dispite very pleasant staff they cannot hide a dated building and, a frankly hazardous entrance. As for the room. I have not seen a TV that small since I stayed in a caravan. A bed that does it's best to deny sleep and chairs that are not designed to be sat on. There is a lot better out there for much less. Pub down the road was great and the village is quiet and picturesque.

Great position with river views from every room. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. However, our room was a bit tatty, the bathroom was tiny and we could hear the people walking around in the room above through the night as the floor creaked very loudly.

The Cormorant was one of our favourite places to stay before we moved to Cornwall. It is a stunning location, looking out over the estuary. It has been upgraded since we last stayed and the restaurant and bar area is much improved. The bed, although it seemed soft, was very comfortable and the power shower was great. The only hiccup was at breakfast where the poached eggs that three of us had ordered were hard, we sent these back but the replacements were still semi-hard. Not wanting to spend all day waiting for the perfect egg, we ate these. The night manager was very friendly and welcoming when we checked in.
