The Cornmill is a place where the locals eat... That is a good endorsement of any restaurant. The Menu is solid with something for everyone, and is perhaps a little more expensive than most Pub grub, but this is not your average pub restaurant. The food is of restaurant standard and cooked from scratch, nothing re-heated here! The portions are generous and served in reasonable time.
Towards the weekends and during the summer months the restaurant does fill very quickly, so booking is a good idea, although I think they never fully book so you can take a chance, but after 8:00 on a Saturday you'll have no chance of getting a table.
This is not particularly children friendly, there are no child seats available and they don't allow pushchairs in, but to be honest there is not much for the very young to do in the Cornmill. You can eat where you want, but the actual restaurant area is up the stairs on your left as you go in. There is a downstairs bar, with seating off to the right, and a large deck area at the back, and around the riverside side of the pub.
It is part of the same chain as the Pant yr Ochian, decorated in the same eclectic style, and with much the same ethos and menu.
I would recommend it to visitors and locals who appreciate good food.
