I've dined at their restaurant multiple times and eaten delicious meals. This time, I ordered from their kiosk a seafood pasta to eat there and a seafood chowder to take home. That pasta was magnificent. Awesome chowder as well.

One of the best restaurants around Hobart. We ordered the oysters, braised lamb and spicy squid and all of those were mouth-watering. Great hospitality, location and ambience!

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant! Despite being busy, the customer service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient, ensuring everything was taken care of promptly. The location is a major plus—right next to the waterfront, offering a relaxing ambiance. The outdoor seating adds to the charm, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. Highly recommend!"

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was nothing short of incredible – a great variety, deliciously prepared, and served quickly and professionally. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything we asked for was taken care of with a smile. They also serve quality wine to complement the meal. The restaurant sits right on the beach with large windows overlooking the water, and the décor is both stylish and elegant. JJ, the owner, is a lovely guy who shared the history of the place with us and gave us great tips on local attractions. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this place – it’s a must if you’re in the area!

Five of us turned up without a booking but they accommodated us perfectly. The setting is lovely overlooking the water, the food was delicious, promptly delivered and delightfully served by very personable wait staff. Very highly recommended.

We made a last-minute booking for 10 people after leaving Mona. The food was fantastic, tender steak, and the staff were very friendly and on point. A beautiful view over the water topped it off nicely, I can highly recommend giving them a go.

Flew in from Brisbane a few hours earlier and then picked up my Aunty. Looking for somewhere nice for lunch we came across this place. The water views from outside the establishment were enough. We went in without a booking and were made very welcome. The atmosphere, the views of the Tasman Bridge, the food and the amazing staff made our lunch a very memorable one. Prices were responsible, food was fresh and delicious. Really recommend giving this place a go.

Yelp
The boathouse at Cornelian bay is a beautiful setting, but it's a tourist trap. Terrible service nonsensical menu. The kind of place that doesn't respect customers. The rigid menu is designed to get the most money from the customer. An example is the Fish & Chips, including fish, chips, tartar sauce and lemon or a salad. I wanted to order the fish and chips with a side salad. However, only if you get it with house salad; I asked what was in the salad and answered lettuce, parmesan, and ciabatta for eight dollars. I could either have the fish and chips with tartar sauce and lemon or the salad. If I wanted the tartar sauce and lemon, I would need to buy the eight dollar house salad. Absurd! When did I ask why? The answer was, "the menu is fixed, no substitutions." I wanted just a small side salad. I asked why the salad had only lettuce when other dishes had tomato and other salad vegetables available. It's not like I was asking for ingredients they were not using. I can't understand why they refuse to offer it with chips, sauce, lemon and a side salad. The boathouse wants to control its customers, not serve them. They are interested in your money, not in an enjoyable customer experience.

Yelp
I had lunch here with a big group of people for a year-end function. Located on the beach at Cornelian Bay, Boat House Restaurant has a perfect view of sailing boats and the Tasman Bridge. I chose Grilled Tasmanian Salmon for main course, which came with toasted nori, pickled ginger and enoki mushroom salad. The salad was great! I had Fillet of grilled Trout with white beans and garlic for entree, which was quite nice. But most of the other participants took Warm Salad of roasted Pork Loin (with fresh apple and honey & seeded mustard dressing), which looked so yummy that I would have changed my decision if I could. Their Boat House Pav was quite good too. The pavlovas had crispy outer shell and soft & chewy centre, which were rated very good by the Australian participants in the function. What I did not like here was that their services were very very slow. Half of my company was unable to stay until the coffee and tea time and I was not either. When I left the restaurant with some of my companions, we were there for 3 hours and just finished our desserts in a few minutes and we did not know when the coffee and tea would come. But we were no longer able to wait. It was lunch time and we all needed to be back to work. If the staffs would have been able to speed up their services, it would deserve 4 or 5 stars.

Yelp
Cornelian Bay is the perfect place to take the olds for a picturesque lunch or dinner. It's got a great menu--a nice blend of adventurous starters and classic mains, as well as surprising desserts with plenty of options, something to suit everyone. The Boat House also deserves massive props to being so accommodating for my friend's small wedding party reception after her original reception restaurant in Swansea closed its doors only a couple of months out from the wedding date. Every other party member was coming in from out of town, but between the bride's emails to the manager John and my popping in for a couple of in-person visits (and meals!) in the lead up to the big day, the evening was all we could have asked for. I look forward to seeing whether they do end up sorting out a separate small dining room, as while we were separated from the rest of the restaurant, we didn't have the privacy that would have better benefited reception speeches--having said that, there were only seventeen of us so the speeches didn't go for very long, and didn't have to be projected TOO far! We also had a bit of a laugh joining in singing happy birthday for another table of diners. We did also seem to just have one poor girl allocated as server to our table as well as other tables in the restaurant, and before we were a few glasses of wine down each we could have done with an extra server (or even two), but once the belts were unbuckled there was certainly less concern. In the end with all things considered I'm happy to leave four stars for the Boat House, as the wedding reception was an extraordinary situation and my two solo meals there were exceptional. Hot tip: always check out the oyster specials of the day. The oysters are always awesome but the specials can take them to another level! Plus the chowder is divine.

Yelp
Had lunch here on a Sunday while in Hobart with a cruise. The very eclectic restaurant is a cab ride away from downtown Hobart and my advice to anyone in same position is stay closer to downtown Hobart. The seats were uncomfortable, the menu was limited (no sandwiches or salads), the food was average, and service was slow. View would have been nice if tide had not been out.

Yelp
Had lunch here recently and found the quality of service, quality of the food and drink options to be very good. The location and view makes well for a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. We extended lunch well into the afternoon and was made to be very welcome throughout even though they were preparing for the evening session (we didn't stay by the way). We will be back!
