The 15 Best Hotels in Savannah, Georgia

"The Cotton Sail is a 56-room property that pays homage to the city’s riverside commerce. It sits in an enviable location directly overlooking the Savannah River, with a stately calmness that belies its size. And, like many hotels around the city, its red-brick exterior hints at its history. This is relatively small hotel, and its riverside location, historic details, and views are the main selling points. There's also a small fitness center and a rooftop bar. Come for the views and riverside tranquility; stay for the cool crowd and warm, personal service." - Paul Oswell

The Cotton Sail Hotel Savannah, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? The Cotton Sail is a 56-room hotel that pays homage to the city’s riverside commerce. It sits in an enviable location directly overlooking the Savannah River, with a stately calmness that belies its size. Like many hotels around the city, its red-brick exterior hints at its history. What's the backstory? There are still visible traces of this hotel’s past as a 19th century cotton warehouse, not least in the striking heart-of-pine floors that were once part of the building’s original roof. Fully renovated and assuringly modern inside, the hotel is now part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection. Tell us about the accommodations. Our Standard Guest Room had period wooden floors and windows overlooking the river. Brown-and-green accents conjured up a pseudo-rustic ambience, and the bathroom felt contemporary. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?The Wi-Fi was free and fast. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?The hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant, but there's a pleasant continental breakfast buffet with a couple of basic cooked options. Two adjacent restaurants—Top Deck and The River House—expand the nearby dining options, and there's also rooftop bar overlooking the river. How was the service? The scale of the hotel lends itself to a wonderfully personable level of service. The staff mostly remembered our names, and a concierge was quick to recommend tours and entertainment. What type of travelers will you find here? The clientele skews young. You may even see small bachelor and bachelorette parties. What about the neighborhood? What's the scene like?Guests can step out of the hotel and right onto River Street, by day a pleasant thoroughfare set against the scenic Savannah River. At night, pubs and restaurants keep things going until late. Any other hotel features worth noting? This is relatively small hotel, and its riverside location, historic details, and views are the main selling points. There's also a small fitness center and a rooftop bar. Bottom line: Why should we choose the Cotton Sail?Come for the views and riverside tranquility; stay for the cool crowd and warm, personal service." - Paul Oswell

We stayed 3 night and selected this property due to claim of only rooftop bar and gaving a gym. There are many rooftop bars and all we tried were much nicer. The gym is a tiny closet with a treadmill and elliptical, no weights or room to work out hardly. Ordered an omlette in restaurant where cook added mushrooms (canned/awful) instead of tomato's I ordered. Few people there and it took a loooong time. Safe wasn't working, cleaning staff left garbage from precious days coffee and didn't restock. General lack of caring. Tiny bathroom tough to maneuver. Not worth the $600 to $700 a night we were charged. Every hotel we visited on food tours and rooftops much nicer and better maintained. Finally, the main rooftop bar was closed EVERY DAY for private events. Don't advertise a rooftop bar that isn't available. There are two bars and the other one that was not nice (nest) was available.

If you only need a bed and a bathroom this is your place. For the price you can get much better a other hotels near by. No microwave, no fridge. Daily room cleaning was not a cleaning at all. Floor was not clean and had spill spots on it. Not because it is old it had not been cleaned. Not very friendly desk or concierge. Most did not even look at you. The only thing this hotel has is location and rooftop bar/grill type food. Which by the way takes away the space you would have for a pool, so there is that. The day we checked out while doing a check for items around the bed I noticed the box spring had blood stains on it. If I had seen earlier I would have demanded a refund and cancelled because of unsanitary conditions. Stayed at a cheap Holiday Inn on the way and I would book there any day over this "4 star" hotel. Wish I would have read the individual reviews before booking.

We took the amtrak in from Charleston, great way to travel there. Only a few minutes ride to the hotel from the train station. Great place to stay. I felt like it was perfectly located for walking distance to great restaurants, shops and viewing cargo ships entry and leaving Port through the Savannah river. The rooms were a little tight but the decor and history made up for it! Will stay there again!

First, I want to thank both the concierge and daytime front desk clerk. Good people make a difference. Our planned schedule got messed up and the concierge did her best to help us to make the most of our vacation. I travel a lot and utilize that service often. She knew her stuff. Likewise, the front desk clerk helped us look for a missing item and was otherwise helpful. Now back to the hotel. Pros: Location is walkable, right on the river, with nice views. Building is historic. Cons: Some odd layouts. When the bathroom door is open, the shower is blocked, and the exit to the balcony is not full height. I hit my head. Room is average for a 4 star hotel. Overall, I felt the hotel was a decent value based on the location and service. I would return.

We had a problem with our reservation in May 2025 at the hotel. There were 3 adults traveling to Savannah for a graduation. We received a text that was sent at 1:53pm stating they had to change our room from 2 Queens to 1 King. We did not receive the text until we checked into our room around 5:00pm since were driving from Central FL and were on the road for 5 hours. We were told there was an issue with the room and no other Queen room was available. The hotel reduced the rate by $200, but it doesn't seem like fair compensation since one of us had to sleep on the floor! The situation was not acceptable. We were advised since it was graduation weekend, no other rooms at all were available. We paid $500+ plus parking so $200 off the room rate was not fair compensation especially since 3 adults should not be expected to sleep in one King bed. There wasn’t even a sofa available in the room which would have made it more acceptable. The front desk personnel were very professional and understanding and location was great, hence the reason my review is 3 stars and not 1 star. I did write to the hotel manager that night and did receive a “so sorry” message 5 days later.I'm very disappointed in this facility especially as a Hilton Honors member.

Google
Charming hotel in a perfect location on the riverfront. City Center is a 1 1/2 block walk as well as the Hop On Hop Off Trolley. The hotel has a rooftop sports bar with great views of the river. The Nest is on the rooftop as well. It was quieter than the sports bar so we had drinks here. Great for breakfast too. Our room was very comfortable & roomy.

This Hotel was fine. Not great, but fine. I would even stay here again, but my expectations would be measured. Let me explain what I mean. In a great hotel, there are those little extras…the things that help a hotel stand out. It is those tangibles and intangible things that were missing. While I would give it a hotel 3 star, it’s the many little things that kept it from really reaching something special. Each of these are minor, but they add up. No microwave, older and smaller screen TV, rip in desk chair, sticky spots in the refurbished wood floor…and the one thing that was actually an annoyance; a broken elevator. With only one elevator working waiting for rides could take 5 minutes. As a Hilton Diamond member I am used to lounge or a dollar credit. There was no lounge and if you did eat/drink at the Nest (good food btw) you had to pay there and take your receipt to the front desk to get credit. Again, not a major inconvenience, but one that added to the overall stay. What was good? While the room was indeed small, it was quaint and had a charming 180 degree view of the River. Being in an historic room was cool. Location was perfect for walking all over the historic district. The shower was very comfortable. The best things were the bed and AC unit. My wife and I slept great because the mattress, sheets, comforter and pillows were soft, clean and cozy. The split unit AC worked great to quickly cool the room in the evening and warm it in the morning. This hotel is close to being something special and with a bit more attention to detail could be. When I received a text from staff asking me how my stay was going I explained that our instant coffee pot looked dirty. They solved my issue, cleaning out the pot, but also letting me get hot water from the lobby coffee machine (for our tea). This was helpful and caring service. Don’t be afraid to stay here, but don’t expect the same quality you would get from a traditional Hilton. Do expect a unique room and view.

We stayed at this location for the 4th of July Weekend. The front desk and valet were very nice upon arrival. We had to wait several minutes just to get on the elevator to go to our room. The later in the day, the more difficult it is to get on the elevators as it is used from River Street to the hotel floors to the TopDeck so make time for the elevators. Once we made it to the room, it was a little disappointing to see a mediocre room for the price point. The rooms could receive a facelift but still keep the vibe it’s meant to put off. No refrigerator or microwave. Convenience is everything. The air conditioner is good when it’s on but once it shuts off, it starts warming up very quickly. The beds was very comfortable to sleep on though. Valet parking is offered as well. We always stay at Hilton hotels but this one is not high on my list for quality.

Yelp
We had a spacious room on the 4th floor overlooking the river. It was a little noisy at night because we were right on the Riverwalk. The fitness room is a bit of a joke, no weights, and only minimal exercise equipment. The one and only treadmill was out of order during g our stay. $45 per night for our car to sit idle in their lot for a couple days is a bit pricey! We were incorrectly charged for an extra night valet, so make certain you check your receipt once it's emailed to you.

Yelp
Hotel was clean. Had to change rooms dues issues within the room, toilet didn't work. When we got into a different one, there was water dripping down from the roof area to the back of the toilet. It stopped overnight though. Front desk was great about moving us.

Yelp
Not Worth the Price Tag My recent stay at the Cotton Sail Hotel in Savannah, GA, left me questioning the value for the hefty $500 per night price tag. The sticky floors and unwelcome presence of cockroaches made the experience far from pleasant. The overall condition of the room did not align with the premium cost. I expected more for the price paid, and I hope the hotel takes steps to improve the quality of its accommodations to justify such high rates in the future.

Yelp
Great hotel and the staff was amazing. Especially Kristen at the front desk. She went over the top to make sure my parents had an exceptional stay.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night while coming thru GA on the way home. To be fair - this is my first time using a Tapestry Hilton property so I wasn't really sure what to expect. Located on the river front area of Savannah, it can be tricky getting here. The address given on the Hilton app is wrong - first and foremost - which makes it seem like it's further down the street than what it is. We valeted the car which is just in front of the building in a small pull in demarcated by a small median curb. For $39 and for someone not of the area with no clue - it's worth the price. The room is nice - wood flooring and high ceilings. We had a city view room, which was cool. Bathroom was spacious and had nice amenities - large shower stall, though the fixture was moving in the wall. I think what the coolest thing here is the accessibility to the river front, restaurant both in the hotel as well as up and down the street, and the rooftop bar area. Really cool. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying I am a diamond Hilton member traveled the country staying in Hilton's, and I feel this hotel is not up to the standards of other properties in the tapestry line. The fitness center has a bike, a treadmill, and an elliptical, and it is the size of a closet The room that we received is extremely small, low ceilings, sticky floors, musty smell. There was no refrigerator in the room. The loud noise coming from the bar above was extremely upsetting knowing that I was trying to get some well needed sleep, and all I heard was the sound of a bass thumping in my pillow. The $39 per day valet is extremely expensive. The FNB credit that is $15 a person can only be used in certain areas and very limiting in the options. As you can see, this particular hotel was a disappointment .

Yelp
Great service and very helpful staff. The hotel is lovely. We had breakfast at the Nest and again, great staff. Our room was beautiful- the wooden floors made it feel so quaint.

Victoria W.

Yelp
This hotel was good. Great location and clean. It's a bit loud with the bars upstairs. The views in the river rooms are awesome.

Ashley F.

Yelp
It felt dirty. The floors were sticky. The shower was not clean at all. It looks nice in pictures but it was just okay. The rooftop bar was gorg! The biggest flaw was PARKING!!!! There was no parking anywhere and we had to valet for $40 on top of a $500 room. They had "parking lots" aka public parking so tourist and anyone could park there.

Yelp
This hotel is part of the Hilton Tapestry collection. It is in a wonderful location and is part of a historic building so there are limits to what they can change as far as infrastructure. However, there is no limit to how they clean and they are greatly lacking in that area. On the other hand, the staff at every level were wonderful and couldn't have done a better job!

Yelp
The Cotton Sail Hotel Savannah, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a great place to stay in the middle of everything. I really like the location and views that they have available here. The staff here provides excellent customer service and makes sure that you have everything that you need for the best stay.

Yelp
Great location, great staff & clean, cozy rooms. As a Hilton honors member, truly all i could ask for. Would definitely stay here when we return! You cannot beat the location.

Chris R.

Yelp
For $307 I got a king balcony river view. Oh and 40 for parking of course! My balcony door would not open, the walls were pretty beat up and my room was directly off of the lobby. King size bed with half size pillows. Sticky floors and the room smelled musty, it was like a Red Roof on the river. On the rooftop restaurants that are supposed to be open till 11 does last call at 9:30 and closes . No mini fridge. I've never paid so much for a supposed nice hotel and been so thoroughly disappointed In almost everything. This is no 300 to 350 dollar a night place! There are many better alternatives around the city!

Ray G.

Yelp
WOW - This should not be a Hilton Branded Property. This is what I sent to the GM Shon Gibbons with no reply. "Good morning, I want to share with you a few of the pictures from room 522 and other areas of your hotel from this past weekend. I really don't know where to begin and how to tell you about the issues and condition of the room I was in, and the hotel common areas. I think the pictures will explain it all. I spoke to the front desk Friday afternoon requesting a new room and I was told there was no other rooms available. Please send me your feedback, I can go into more detail regarding the mold smell, the non-swept floors, the grime, and filth around the legs of the credenza, the legs of the sink and the baseboards in room 522. When you use 192,000 Hilton point for a three-night stay at a Hilton branded hotel you expected better condition. I look forward hearing back from you. Thank you." Please look at the date of the reviews because you will see that the hotel has gone down hill. So the 4+ stars is not what this place is, at the most its a 2+ star. $300 a night is a lot of money to take a chance on. Try at your risk and when you see what I'm talking about don't forget I told you so.

Yelp
All we can say is that this is the absolute worst Hilton property that we have ever stayed at. The entire staff are evidently trained to neglect their paying Guests and their comfort while staying here. The weather outside was cold & raining, and the Staff refused to turn up the heat in our room. We finally demanded that they switch us to a different room, and that room was equally as freezing cold. Upon speaking with 3 different front-desk staff members, each of them proclaimed the same tagline, and that was that ONLY the hotel manager was capable of helping us. Conveniently, the hotel manager was always absent and refused to contact us. We had to leave a day earlier than our "Pre-paid" reservation due to my Wife developing a severe cough and cold. Once again, the front-desk staff advised that ONLY the manager could refund the day that we weren't capable of staying, due directly to their fault in having the airconditioned air blowing down from the ceiling-mounted air conditioner. My Wife was forced to visit a doctor due to their insolence and neglect!!! This property literally "STOLE" our money, especially considering that we had to check out a day earlier due to their lack of consideration for my Wife's health. They refused to refund our money for this. We had to stay next door at the Marriott Property, which treated us with tremendous care & concern. All of this horrendous outcome, and still NOT A WORD from their "manager." And to add absolute insult-to-injury, we have been long-time Hilton Diamond Members. If this hotel treats their preferred Diamond Members with such ignorance and lack of concern, how could anyone ever decide to stay here??? I would certainly suggest staying at a local Hotel 6 as compared to staying at this Hilton Hotel property!!!

Yelp
With effect from last month, this hotel is now part of Hilton's Tapestry Collection brand of boutique hotels. I see that all of the negative reviews date back to the time before Hilton took over, and I can see that steps have since been taken to address the issues that are noted in those reviews. I found it to be a perfectly A-OK hotel in a great location overlooking the river, and within an easy walk to most of the points of interest in Savannah's historic downtown area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The description of this hotel as "luxurious" is a little misleading. The breakfast at the rooftop lounge, while offering great views of the river, is really, really basic; about the same as the breakfast buffet at a Hampton Inn. Hilton Honors Diamond members get complimentary breakfast, but I really feel compelled to skip it given that I'm in Savannah, a town where you are surrounded by so much great food that I simply won't waste my appetite on such unremarkable fare. The fitness room is particularly bare bones, with no weight machines, no free weights, and no bench; just one treadmill and one stationary bike. The sleeping rooms are comfortable and bright, but when you hear of your room described as one with a balcony, do not allow your imagination to run wild and expect a patio to sit on. It is a tiny Juliet balcony / ledge where no more than one normal-sized person (less than 200 lbs) can stand at a time. It still is a bonus because the view is really nice.

Yelp
We stayed here last summer when visiting Savannah. It was really nice to be back in town after moving away, and having never stayed downtown, this was an excellent choice. The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. There is access to River St via an elevator which makes entry convenient. On the roof is a terrific bar that offers a great view of the river, and we had a great time there. The only thing keeping me rating if 5 stars is parking situation isn't great, but that's honestly par for the course in Savannah, so no harm, no foul really. I'm not sure if they validate parking or not.
google avatar

Tauheedah M.

Yelp
$300 inc tax for one night stay. Room was very cold upon entering like very. Patio was so tiny 2 I'll can't fit. Bed was comfy but extremely overpriced

Charles K.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great room and quality experience please choose any other hotel around the area. A lot of other Hilton there. JW Marriott is awesome and it wasn't much more in price. Rooms were c-, rooftop bar and food c-, location B+, management D, some bug issues as well. Also no mini frig in hotel

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here during the Rock-and Roll marathon and it was not good ! So off the cuff you're paying for the location however, that's all you're getting. It was dirty, damp, expensive valet parking, VERY loud from the street traffic and party goers. This hotel is perfect if you are just going to bar hop and stay drunk your entire stay, other than that if you have a little age under your belt and enjoy nicer amenities, I'd stay at a more modern hotel .
google avatar

Subhadra E.

Yelp
The hotel is centrally located, with easy access to a lot of restaurants and parks in Savannah. The rooms for the most part are somewhat modern. However, I would say the rooms need improvement. Our bathroom shower had some broken tile and shelving. The room wasn't entirely clean and had a weird smell to it. We figured it was bc the hotel is old, but the smell wasn't apparent in other areas of the hotel. The gym is very small and wouldn't feel comfortable being there if more than 2 people were working out. The roof top bar is really nice. I would say the food and drinks are kinda over priced, but not too surprising considering it's location in Savannah. We didn't interact with the staff much other then when we checked in. They all wore masks, but did not enforce the mask rule with guests who walked around with no masks. I will most likely stay at a different hotel the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
"luxury boutique hotel" According to Hilton, the Cotton Sails is classified a 4 star luxury boutique hotel. I'm diamond and my wife and I come to Savannah several times a year. This hotel costs $400 a night on peak weekend days and we just drove 5 hours. We arrived at around 9pm. I parked in an open space in the parking lot since there was no valet to be found. I walked towards the building and crossed the bridge over the service entrance. I noticed 3-4 people yelling down at another 3-4 people. Thinking "welcome back to good ol Savannah." I entered the building seeing no staff at the inside valet booth and approached the empty front desk. I waited for a minute or so until one of the previous mentioned "yelling people" came inside. To my surprise, Nai Nai (pronounced Nay Nay) greeted me with a red sucker in her mouth. Nai Nai, who was obviously pretty new proceed to ID me and ask about what card to charge. I told her what card but she already charge a corporate business card that I did not set the reservation up with nor is my default Hilton card. I asked her to please change it to another card and she was not aware how to do this. She then called someone on speakerphone (I assume her boss) and loudly describe the problem. Her boss tried to loudly explain how to make the change as several children screamed over her voice. After about 5-10 minutes Nai Nai was able to make the change to the correct credit card. I thanked her and she handed me my room keys. No water or snacks we given or offered to me. I asked her about the valet situation and said "someone will help you with that." I then turned around and walked outside and Nai Nai followed behind. I approached my car with a luggage rack as the 3 people who I now understand are all hotel staff yell and cuss at the people below and accuse them of being "disrespectful." At the point my wife and I are unloading the car as the charade continues to unfold for another 5 minutes. My wife and I enter the hotel with our luggage still unsure of the valet setup when one of the staff comes inside and finally takes our keys. I didn't catch his name but he was nice but you could tell the whole outside situation was getting to him. We then go unload our luggage and head to The Deck (the rooftop bar and hotel restaurant). We got up to the 6th floor and were greeting by a guy who explained that the kitchen was already closed and they were closing early... slightly frustrated we left to find food elsewhere. We the took our food back to the room. A little later I called guest services to request a late checkout. I was told to "call in the morning because she didn't know the house keeping staffing situation." The next morning after I requested my late checkout again, my wife goes to take a shower and is greeted by a large roach in the shower and rusty shower caddys. We then went to breakfast (free for diamond but costs $13). The "Tapestry Lounge" is a nice enough buildout with outside seating. We were greeted by a loud woman wearing rainbow crocs and listening to music asking about our "vouchers". I gave them to them and we made out coffee and got breakfast. The breakfast area was littered with crap, full trash cans, boxes, and cluttered messy counters. There were 4 people there including my wife and I.... They weren't busy. Breakfast consisted of sub par, less the Hampton inn quality food. There were fake eggs omelettes, barely cooked sausage, and hard biscuits. The property is actually quite charming with things such as the original wood floors, brick walls, and views of River St. Other than that the property is already aging and has obvious broken items such as faceplates, elevator buttons, and cleaning issues. The staff is woefully undertrained and I have had better customer serve experiences at a Quality Inn. This is not a 4 star hotel. Do stay here. Go to the Alida Hotel for a true 4 star experience.

Yelp
Great location-a typical older hotel that they attempt to make Chic..it is not! Roof top bar was at best so-so...poor service. Our room had a super odd-musty like grandma's house smell to it. Restaurant was at best average. The front of the hotel staff- were wonderfully nice and thoughtful. Very over priced property.

Yelp
The location is very convenient and our room had a balcony overlooking the river which was pretty cool. The balcony is more like a one person gig, but an added bonus whenever you're situated on the water. Price: $159 + tax per night We were on the fifth floor and the elevators will take you down to river level, street level and up to their Top Deck bar and lounge. The room was modern, spacious and clean with two nicely dressed queen size beds. They give you plenty of pillows if you like to be propped up. The bathroom is nothing special and I wasn't that impressed with the toiletries. They offer make-your-own coffee down in the lobby and in your room which is not really OK. A place like this should offer FRESHLY MADE COFFEE and (at the very least) a free nosh or continental breakfast for their guests. They do not. On the surface, this place doesn't seem too bad. However, it just really lacks the added touches, thoughtfulness and Southern hospitality that you would expect to find in a Savannah riverfront hotel and ultimately the lure for me to want to come back to stay here.

Yelp
We were here three nights. Very nice staff. We had a problem with our key card not working. Housekeeping's key would not work. We had to get a maintenance man who came right up. He worked on the lock and replaced somethings and said if we had any problems to call him. Valet were accommodating. Room was nice and clean and most thankful it was cold.

Yelp
The furniture was banged up, the bedding and bathroom sink had weird hairs on them, the walls were scuffed, the chairs had gross stains, and there were bugs. I asked to move to another room, but it was just as bad. I even found more bugs. If you can get past all of that, the ceilings are quite low. Tall people won't be able to stand up comfortably in the bathroom and hallways. Also, the front door was hard to find at night. It faces the street, but there is no special awning or lighting that would lead you to it. There's also no one there to help you with parking, but the valet at the Bohemian next door is very helpful. On the plus side, you can have a good view of the river and the muddy shipping yard on the far shore. There are several truly great restaurants nearby. Overall, the Cotton Sail Hotel felt like a cheap budget hotel that doesn't get cleaned or maintained very often.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly. We were greeted pleasantly, the valet attendants were nice, and we were given a thorough explanation as to what was on each floor (you walk in on the fourth floor, from Bay Street, so you can see how things might require a little explanation). The hotel was nice and cool, pleasant smelling, and decorated in a manner of classy old South. Our room had wood floors, which were very attractive, although not as sound proof as I'm used to in hotels. The view was of the Bay Street side of the building, and we were on the third floor (so, below the lobby where you walk in); in other words, our view was of darkness and brick and people on their smoke breaks. I don't hold that against the hotel, though- they did what they could with the historic space available to them. Just giving a heads up to those who might be hoping for a view of the river- don't assume! The room was large and beautiful, as was the bathroom. Wifi was free, which is always a nice touch! We got a good deal on this room from booking.com, but valet was $27 per day. This hotel definitely wouldn't be considered a bargain. It was very conveniently located to the riverfront and the rest of the historic downtown. While I would recommend this to someone looking for a boutique hotel experience, my tastes are less fancy and more predictable, so I might stay someplace else next time I'm in Savannah.

Yelp
I don't know what is wrong with Americas top brand hotels. You arrive late and tired, pick a hotel with a big name behind it, not minding to pay, premium rates and expect at least it to be clean. More than enough blood stains on my rooms bed sheet, will make us loose faith in America s hotel, matter how much you pay. Which brand to trust? Is there a price limit in which you are confident you will arrive late and not be surprised by disgusting cleaning issues? How much will cost me a hotel room that is actually clean after each guest???? Give me a clean room, I don't mind paying, buy clean the f..... Room!

The staff was super friendly and made our stay really great! Within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and fun places to checkout!!

Yelp
WORST EVER. I am truly appalled by this stay for so many reasons. As a long time Hilton Diamond member, this means A LOT. Read all to hear the worst of it. Was literally abused. For a 'boutique' hotel, the hairs on shower walls, floors so thin you can hear the people tromping around loudly above late at night and clear voices in the hall. When I checked in, it was late but was happy to self park in the front. I had traveled 1300 miles with a car filled with valuables. When I asked the front desk if it was okay to leave my car there, they both said yes. They then trepidatiously asked for my car keys. I asked why and told them I wasn't comfortable. They told me the valet may need to move my car in the AM. I begrudgingly gave up my keys. No mention of any costs. I also let them know I am a Diamond (and a Gold) member and due to my late arrival, another long driving day ahead, requested a late checkout for 1pm which both agreed to. I went to my room, exhausted. They room was basically nice, though a marker stain on the white cushion caught my eye. The shower door was broken, plus, as mentioned, hairy. I was truly nervous about my keys being out of my possession bc of the valuables. The banging on the floor above prompted a call the front desk. With no other rooms available, the front desk lady provided ear plugs (She was hospitable and the best part of this stay). Meanwhile, thinking about my car as I finally fell asleep around 4am, made for a restless night. I was startled out of my sleep at 10am by the housekeepers trying to come into my room despite do not disturb and 1 pm checkout! It was a jarring and I woke with a start. Knowing I had another 8-9 hour drive ahead that day on a rough and rudely awoken sleep, made me very unhappy. I didn't want to make a big deal of it, but knowing that the typical check out time is 11am and they tried coming in at 10 am?! I could not fall back to sleep so made coffee and while I was getting ready (was not decent) at around 11:30am, THEY TRIED COMING IN AGAIN! This time I was upset and told them to please stop trying to break in, I have a 1o'clock checkout, they woke me at 10am and now were invading my privacy! They apologized, I felt I needed to let the front desk know what had happened. When I called in, BRIAN answered and I told him my name and room number, I told him I was upset with what just happened and that I am a Diamond member. Before I could even finish my sentence, he talked over me and said "Your membership doesn't matter here" (apparently he didn't realize that I let him know he was speaking with someone who, if off the street, wouldn't have had a 1 pm checkout), before I could even explain, he started snootily exclaiming that "THIS is a boutique hotel and we don't care if you're a Diamond" ... speaking as if this slightly above average facility was at the level of hotels I've stayed in, in Paris and Dubai. Meanwhile, this lost soul didn't even know why I was calling. I asked him to please let me explain myself and not to speak over me. I was appalled by the way he thought it was okay to speak to a guest, let alone a Hilton Diamond who KNOWS exactly what to expect from a 'higher end' Hilton stay. I also wondered how his $11 an hour desk job, entitled him to think he could speak this way, not knowing who I am and for whatever reason, instantly defending this poorly operated, mediocre establishment. Clearly not someone meant to be in hospitality. I became angry and clearly told him that I had a 1 pm checkout that was violated, was woken up three hours early and then invaded again. He said again, "We are a boutique hotel with 50 rooms and are booked and need everyone to get OUT!" ... this gets worse. He HUNG UP on me. I called back and I told him that I would leave when I'm ready. He proceeded to THREATEN ME. I quote "You need to vacate now, your checkout time is 11am and I WILL CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR ANOTHER NIGHT " (Also prior, I looked outside to my car, the valet had backed my car ONTO A CURB AND A SHRUB! The sprinkler came on an was spraying under and on the back of my car!!!) After that call, I was livid. I immediately checked my banking app. There were 2 CHARGES from the Polyester Sail. One charge was $39 for valet parking (NO ONE MENTIONED THIS AT ANY TIME!) and $50 for incidentals (I had none) ... I collected myself after the plebeian attack, gathered my things in my own time and went to put them into my curbed, soaked car. I called The Diamond Desk and put in a formal complaint. I would never have dreamed of being treated this way for any reason. I hope Brian finds a job in a place where he doesn't have to deal with other people. He is clearly not suited for this work. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason. The only thing at all special about it, was the high ceilings ... the same ceilings touching the floors you can hear everything through. Find a different hotel. Overrated and a truly horrific experience.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in a fabulous location. Typically in Savannah hotels, especially in historic buildings, I expect the presence of mildew/mold which makes me suffer greatly but the Cotton Sail (room 502) was crisp and dry, no mildew at all. Beautiful hotel and the rooms are spacious. I will say the entrance and valet was hard to find but I made it there :) I highly recommend.

Yelp
We're Hilton Diamond members. Having never been to Savannah this seemed great for location. The reviews all eluded that the hotel was dirty, but I booked anyway. The room was absolutely not clean. The floors are sticky, you could see remnants of spilled drinks no one cleaned up. The staff were the saving Grace, everyone was super extra friendly. The low score is because of the price. There are other Hilton's close by we'd choose over this next visit. It's just way overpriced for the quality.

Yelp
Great hotel, this was my 3rd time here. The staff is very friendly and we even were able to get into our room early! Great location, near lots of shops and the rooftop bar above the hotel is awesome too! Not sure what 'mr 2-star' was talking about but our experience this time and previous times were great!

Yelp
We had a nice stay at the hotel at the end of June, but when we got our car back from mandatory valet, we discovered that at least $50 worth of alcohol and a gym bag were missing from our car. Then found a takeout food container in the front (not ours) and chicken wing bones and half eaten chicken wings were all over the front seats, floor and even in between the seats and console. Sauce was everywhere and ranch dressing spilled all over the seat of our brand new less than 2 month old car. We told the hotel employees and asked them to call the police, which they said they were having trouble getting through. We called and got through right away and filed a report. The only compensation the hotel offered was to refund us the $39 mandatory valet parking fee. Ha! The car has keyless entry and there was no damage, so it was obviously either left unlocked or someone got access to the keys that were under the hotel's care. Police asked for footage from the parking garage's cameras and were told it was unavailable. The hotel said that they would be in touch with us, but we have still heard nothing, despite contacting several different branches of Hilton guest services. Your car is not safe here and the hotel will do nothing to cover damages when it is vandalized due to their neglect.

Yelp
If you are a frequent Hilton customer avoid this property. The manager is perhaps the worse manager I have ever dealt with. As a life time Diamond member with over 1 million Hhonors points I had a problem with the room assigned to my wife and I for a three night stay. The manager made no effort to fix the problem and said either we keep the room or can go somewhere else. Overall the staff reflected this lack of customer service except the valet who was great. There are many great hotel options in Savannah. Don't let these folks ruin your trip!

Yelp
Warning!!! We had a rough night. We stayed in room 310 which happens to be right below the lobby. We heard footsteps ALL night. I mentioned this when I checked out and it's a "known issue". I wish that would have been disclosed. (Although I would have left...) After we checked out, there were two other hotel guests complaining about the loud noises and about the breakfast. We chose NOT to eat at the hotel. I was pleased with the cleanliness, beds & pillows were comfortable. And Christopher took car of our car. He's one of the valet guys and was super nice. The hotel location is close to all kinds of stuff that is within walking distance. But there are plenty of other hotels that cost less and I'm sure are quieter. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this hotel.

Yelp
What a disappointment. As Hilton Honors members, we like to stay at Hilton's when we can so chose The Cotton Sail for our Anniversary getaway in Savannah. My husband paid extra for a waterfront room with balcony thinking we could sit out and watch the sunset. Turns out the balcony was about 4 ft wide and 2 ft deep. So when that plan fell through we decided to go to the rooftop bar for after dinner drinks. Hoping for a nice classy lounge we were again disappointed to find a noisy bar with uncomfortable seats. I tried to order a Baileys and coffee but they didn't have coffee so I tried to order Cognac but they didn't have that either. They do have yard tall tubes of beer you can order though. Not our kind of place. Fitness room turns out to have 2 stationary bikes and an Eliptical machine. That's it. The room was clean and the bed comfy but is definitely was not worth $350 a night. We won't be going back.

Yelp
This hotel is very beautiful and modern, great location also. We valet parked (hurt with a $25 per night charge to park! Charged at checkout) but we didn't need the car for the two nights there, we walked every where. The hotel was clean and modern, the rooms very nice and comfy. I loved the bathrooms they were decorated cool and the shower was refreshing! My friend was a pain in the butt and kept calling the front desk to ask questions and request things. ... and they were great!....answered all her questions and sent someone up to give her a guide to the tv (lol told you she a pain) The rooftop bar/lounge also decorated beautiful and cool place to hang out!

Yelp
The staff upgraded us because it was our honeymoon - turns out that they put is in the handicap accessible type of our same room, which was still small. However, I was still grateful for the upgrade. The rooms do not have microwaves or refrigerators, though you can request if they are available. The worst part to the entire experience was there bug problem - and the fear that "palmetto bugs" were constantly in all of our luggage, food, drinks, etc. We were compensated a night for the issues, but still extremely disappointed. Would not suggest this place due to it! The location was ideal - right on River Street with easy access to all food, bar and extracurricular activities. The staff were extremely nice and cordial, with housekeeping leaving us a love note each day (how precious).

Yelp
A beautiful property, located right on the Savannah river. The antique floors are breathtaking. The rooms are well appointed with coffee makers and needed accessories. We stayed in a room facing the river with a small door door and balcony. It was a gorgeous view. The AC works fabulous and the location is easy to access. We decided to try the restaurant, and sad to say a bit disappointed. The food was bland. We will stay here again, and try new restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Hotel seems nice, but we reserved a balcony room expecting the balcony to be useable. It is NOT.

Yelp
Located on River Street this place just screams old Savannah form the outside. As you enter this place you quickly see that the renovations that have been made make this a very nice comfortable modern looking hotel. Friendly staff were quick to help any time we needed anything or stepped up to the counter. Small sitting area in the lobby as well as fresh coffee and lemonade that you can help yourself to. King size bed room has plenty of space, very clean and comfortable. In addition to the king bed we had a balcony overlooking the river (all river views seemed to have a good view) and could see barge's coming in and out throughout our stay. Also included a couch, small work table (office) area, as well as a pretty good-sized bathroom/shower. We were very pleased with the hotel's proximity to historic Savannah, shopping, restaurants, breweries, views, etc. We wouldn't hesitate coming back to this location for future visits to this amazing city.

Yelp
Overall takeaway: Good location. Great staff. Basic accommodations. Overpriced. Equivalent to entry level Hyatt, Best Western, etc. Should be priced at $150-$300 max. Lobbies dated and tired looking. Rooms are very basic yet updated well and should not cost more than $150 a night. Amenities in room very basic. Nothing luxurious about this place. That said, if less expensive (our room was over $500 a night), it would be a good hotel. Situated in area with corporate hotel chains and is somewhat on outskirts of town but walking distance to many things and on river. So overall - Nice location. Staff is amazing and beyond friendly. Roof top terrace awesome and worth a visit for sure. Tips: 1. valet parking lot is very far away and on a Saturday afternoon they only had one valet so make sure you call at least hour ahead of time for car. 2. Don't pay for upgrade to water view room w terrace. The terrace is not usable and is more of a planter type terrace.

Yelp
Service was amazing. Everyone is super friendly. Rooms felt muggy and the floor was very dirty and sticky.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for few days. Lovely room facing the river. Beautiful hardwoods, crown molding, comfortable beds, pillows, and sheets. Everyone was really nice, and very helpful. What we found to be a huge disappointment was the breakfast that the hotel offers. If I could give a -10 on that, I would. Just terrible. Coffee was fine, but the breakfast eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc... so bad. I would strongly suggest the manager put some effort into their breakfast, what they serve, and how it's cooked. There are many places close by that serve a delicious breakfast. We stumbled across Two Cracked Eggs right down on East Bay. Great food, servers, and environment!

Yelp
Go up to the rooftop! The view is fantastic! My boyfriend booked us a last minute room and we really enjoyed our evening in Savannah! The history of the building itself is fantastic. The staff was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately parking was a serious challenge since I drive a large truck. Would stay here again

Yelp
Great location but that's where it stops. The room photo on the hotel website does NOT match the room in person. The rooms are extremely small with just enough room for the bed. The wood floors are very loud above. Here was the kicker, they credited our account for valet parking (39.00) without telling us. We paid cash only to find out we paid twice. The hotel manager was rude and accusatory. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member this was infuriating. I will never stay or recommend this property.
