3 Best Day Trips from Toronto | Condé Nast Traveler

"Prince Edward County is best known for two things: nature and wine. On this bike tour, you'll experience both. Because it's the only tour of its kind in PEC, it’s quite popular—book in advance—but groups are kept to a maximum of 12 people, ensuring an organized, calm experience. You'll cycle with a guide to as many as four wineries, covering about 12 miles and sampling at least a dozen pours." - Stefanie Waldek

Fantastic experience - highly recommend this over a driven tour for the full experience. Jim was a fantastic operator. He was well versed in local wineries, funny engaged and very kind. He helped us through some unfortunate rain as well as someone in our party not able to finish the tour. He stayed back and made arrangements for the last leg for this member. Extremely charismatic and I would ask for him specifically. The wineries they take you too are also a great mix of some of the best in the area and some of the up and coming ones. They even take you to local attractions like lavender farms and alpaca farms. The bike tour is comfortable and things are well catered for. Novel experience that was definitely worth. The 18 km are easy on relatively flat land but I would be smart about it if you have older folks in your party.

I did a weekend trip to PEC to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday and we absolutely loved our experience with County Wine Tours! Henry was a great tour guide and each winery we visited (4 total, plus a lavender farm and an alpaca farm) has something different to offer. Highly recommend.

What a fun activity! We visited 4 wineries for tastings as well as a stop at a brewery (Trail estate, Blossom chase, Broken stone, Garage time brewery, and Karlo estates). Sharon was such a nice guide - very funny and knowledgeable. We rode about 18km and it was an easy and fun ride. Would definitely do this again! We also visited an alpaca farm.

We had a fantastic sip and cycle tour with Wayne as our guide! The bikes were comfortable, and there are different size options. Helmets, a bottle of water, and snacks (goldfish, cheezies, and a cliff bar) are provided but there is no larger meal provided, so we definitely recommend eating beforehand and bringing more food if necessary. The bikes all had front baskets to help carry extras. Some of the wineries offered food, but they visit different wineries and some of the others may not offer food. Our group was small - only the 4 of us plus 3 from another group who rescheduled to our day due to bad weather on their original date. We loved talking to Wayne, who provided information about the area and wineries. He was a lot of fun and a great guide who waited for others who were falling behind, ensuring no one got lost even if they were slower. We visited 4 wineries (Trail Estates, Lacey’s, Broken Stone, Karlo’s) which each provided 3-4 tastings. Tasting fees are included, and generally pours were 1-2 ounces. There was the option to purchase glasses and bottles at every location. The wines were fantastic, catering to a broad range of tastes. All had plenty of seating. We also visited Chetwyn’s Alpaca farm where you can see cute alpacas, but not interact with them more closely. Our group cycled fairly quickly and had time to visit Garage Time Brewing for a quick flight while waiting for the others to catch up and go to the last winery. All in all, it was 19.3 km of cycling at a relatively easy pace, split up from 11 am-5:30 pm. There’s one steeper uphill segment but it’s short. The only thing we found confusing is that they now operate under Sandbanks Vacations, who repeatedly say on instagram and on their website that pick up and drop off are included in all their tours. This is inaccurate, as the sip and cycle specifically does NOT have this option. We had emailed to try and arrange it and got suggestions for taxis instead, which are not super reliable in the area, so one of us did DD. Overall, fantastic experience and we would definitely do it again the next time we are in PEC!!

We were celebrating our anniversary with the amazing guide Joanne. She made the day such an awesome adventure and was very attentive. We really enjoyed chatting with her throughout, her knowledge of the area, and her going out of her way to ensure we were well taken care of. When a server at one winery screwed up our tasting flight, she not only took it seriously, but immediately made sure things were made right by adding a stop on the route (which ended up being one of our fav stops!). She even recommended a fantastic place for dinner, and it ended up being the perfect cherry on top to our day after our tour. We lucked out with great weather, and overall had the best day ever! We’ll definitely be back! Also - the biking was not as grueling as we were anticipating! We are not avid cyclists and made it through the day (and one large hill). It's mostly flat terrain and we could go at our pace. The bikes were super cute and very comfortable.

Would highly recommend The County Wine Tours if you are planning a trip to Prince Edward County anytime soon. Henry and Wayne guided 7 of us through the picturesque Prince Edward County wine country on our Girl’s Weekend Away this past Saturday. We rode to 4 lovely wineries, a small craft brewery and an Alpaca farm! The bike ride was easier than I anticipated, even for someone like me who has not been on a bike for many, many years. The bikes are easy to use and are very comfortable! A special thank you to you Wayne for hanging with me at the back of the pack while I got my biking abilities going again. Henry provided wonderful historical points of interests along the way and each stop we made we had lots of time for sampling and lots of giggles. Thank you again Henry and Wayne for a super fun day!

We had an excellent time on this tour. Henry (our guide) was full of energy and enthusiasm. We went to four wineries, an alpaca farm and a brewery. (The brewery was mediocre at best). The number of stops depends on how fast your tour group takes at each location. Biking through the country visiting the wineries is the best way to experience the tour imo. Highly recommend
