We loved this store and the assistants there the gentleman owner was clear and kindly when asking us not to take photos inside the store and be responsible. We never took any offence and we believed it was the best way. This store smelled sooo wonderful it was hypnotic and so relaxing we could have pulled up a chair and sat there all day. It was one of only four stores in Salem that we went into that the assistants were happy and responsive to the customers. Remarkable store with great insightful staff xxx😻❤️👍

Google
This shop was one of my favorites while we were in Salem. Quality merchandise and clearly one that pays attention to detail and the customer experience. I was blown away by the vibe and the feeling that I had been transported to another time and place. This is the real deal and not your typical tourist store, but one that carries all types of things for both the curious and the serious. Highly recommend.

Google
You can't take photos but trust me when I say this place is BEAUTIFUL. A one of a kind shop in Salem. They have a unique focus on Celtic/Nordic practices rather than the wide range you tend to see at shops. Every one of their supplies and offerings are hand chosen with a very clear intention. The love and care their put into the shop is very clear. The staff in welcoming and kind, the prices are great, and no matter how many times you look there is always something new to see. A MUST visit for those who take witchcraft seriously.

Google
This store is a very unique one in Salem - it's got a vibe that I think quite a few other stores here fail to get, it fits in with the whole, 'witch city' motif, but doesn't feel like it's just leaning into the theme for profit or an easy sale. The Coven's Cottage sells a variety of well appointed artwork, incense, decor, and more 'witchcraft' goods, but all of these I think have a sensible place in most people's homes if they like this sort of thing. The staff here were delightful and polite, with a fantastic offering of goods that I didn't see elsewhere in Salem. Next time I'm back in this area I will absolutely swing by again!

Google
Went on a trip to Salem recently. EASILY my fav store there. Great selection of herbs and bones/fur. Very Nordic/Celtic vibes + amazing music selection. I'd also like to add that they have a no phone use policy which is easy to follow if you're not a Wiener. As a small business I think they had every right and if you have a problem w/ that have fun shopping at the stinky gift stores with icky stuff probably made by under/unpaid workers this shop had nothing but good vibes, fair prices, and helpful staff

Google
It’s unfortunate that I am writing this because you guys use to be the only store in Salem I would get excited to go to but I no longer want to visit the store. The first time I visited Salem I was hoping for more Celtic, pagan, and Norse related stores, I was so thrilled to go into your store! I didn’t see the sign that said no cell phones, I received a call while in the store and I was immediately told to leave the store in the worst attitude possible.. I didn’t answer it… simply went off like phones do especially helpful for emergencies. I tried to go back years and months later but every time I went it was closed during normal business hours, I truly did not give up on visiting the store. Finally one day I caught you guys open and asked about the hours. You stated a family member sports practice was occurring and there was no staff available. Completely understand but the hours are very misleading and un reliable. The last time I went in to visit the store was last month. No one welcomed me in but instead two staff members ignored me and completely blew me off when I said hello. They were on the phone with a messed up order and trying to figure it out. While they were on the phone I remember my first visit getting yelled at to leave the store because my phone went off… The two staff members left to the back and a new one came out. Said nothing to me but welcomes every single other person in and continued small talk with them. I said have a good day before I left and I received no words… Unfortunately I’ve tried to hard with this store because I’m extremely studious with Norse mythology and all things Celtic, but I’ve given up and refuse to introduce tourists to the store. Your responses to negative reviews are unprofessional as well. This store is filled with negative attitude and no other store in Salem that I have visited treats people as poorly as this on. All the stores sell the same things you do, your products are purchasable on Amazon, cracking the whip on people with cell phones doesn’t occur at any other store besides yours. It’s wrong how many people you have made feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Google
I visited this store for the first time in September. It was beautiful and I enjoyed the dried flowers and different sage and herbs. I did not mind the no phones policy. I wish I could have spent more time in here.

Google
I walked into this store with my father. My first impression was how good it smelled and how beautifully decorated it was. When we entered the two workers, both guys, greeted me nicely. I took about 3 steps into the store admiring all the beautiful things as I was told not to take any photos by the workers at the desk. My phone was only in my hand. The Lock Screen may have been turned on but at the most but that’s all. The way the guy said it was kind of rude but I brushed it off and just put my hand, that was holding the phone to my side. I haven’t even taken another step when the worker said “put it away” and “theirs a sign” with a cold and rude tone. I wouldn’t have had a problem putting it away if he was acting more professional and said it nicely. So I walked out. I never once had a bad experience in a store. Never. This was the first time. I wish I was exaggerating this story but I’m not. I have read through these reviews and have seen others that have experienced this. What really bothered me is the way you’ve respond. It is very snippy and very unprofessional. You said the reason you don’t allow phones to be out is because you don’t want people to be walking around the store knocking into things distracted by their phones. Literally in any other store I went to in Salem I did not see one person doing so. People go into stores to shop. It’s just the way your reply’s totally disregard your costumers feelings and that you don’t take their bad experience into consideration. You also don’t take into consideration that someone’s phone could be used for a medical device. Personally I don’t think any store should dictate what we do with our phones. If you don’t pay my phone bill, you don’t get to say when I go on it or not. Hope this helps 💓

Yelp
i always love coming here when i'm in salem! it's not often that you find such a heavily adorned store that looks as magnificent as this one. last time i was there, i purchased two horn sheaths and two lotus pods, and they are still on my altar. there are plenty of dried herbs for all sorts of practices, and the people are friendly when you enter. i would say the prices are fair, especially for being in a high tourist area.

Yelp
I personally did not purchase anything here, however, you can feel the shift of energy in this store. The owner is incredibly kind snd knowledgeable and very willing to help. The pieces are great, and if I wasn't hoofing it by train, I'd likely taken home a statue.

Yelp
I've gone to Salem handfuls of time, but I always somehow miss the opening hours of this shop. Last Saturday, I was able to pop in and I'm so happy I got the chance to visit before we move away. Everyone working is extremely friendly and happy to help. We had our dog with us so we both took turns going inside while the other person waited outside with our dog. I was trying to describe an item for my partner to find when it was his turn to go inside, and one of the employees was kind enough to help. I picked up a boar vertebrae (another employee also let me take one on display that I really liked!), a hanging moon bell, and a deer skull. Since we are moving, they wrapped it really well for us too. The pricing was more than fair, especially considering they have the kind of stuff you would typically find at oddities markets; I think it was just under $70 for everything. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
This is hands-down, one of the cutest locations to visit everyone there is just super sweet and so accommodating. I got so amazing stuff there as well as I purchased, dear friend of mine an incredible book of shadows. So the gift shops can be a little over the top come off very tourist attraction not this location. It comes off very authentic and it just makes you feel really good inside being at this place.

Yelp
If you are looking for herbs for your physical and spiritual needs while at Salem, run to this place. I love the positive light vibe and it is different from other similar places since I feel it is focusing on the eco or "green/hedge" witch unlike other places. The owner and manager are very helpful and it adds to the allure and charisma of this beautiful place. The moment you walk in, you are welcome by bones and beautiful statues of Norse kingdom. I love the Theya goddess statue. I was mesmerized with the rich selection of herbs and little affordable books along with other types of books.

Yelp
I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was kind of underwhelmed. I'm an herbalist so I was so excited to see this place. It's feels super exclusive because you can take photos, but it leaves you expecting so much. I'm a sucker for the authentic witchy stuff, but I didn't buy anything. I wanted to love this place so bad, but think the exclusivity of not being able to take photos makes you think it's going to be this secret, magical experience. It was beautiful, but ... I don't know man. Just meh.

Yelp
TLDR: Beware of mites. I used to love the Coven's Cottage, and would visit every time I was in Salem. I enjoyed the atmosphere and often bought dried flowers and bones (which multiple employees told me were ethically sourced). It was always a pleasant experience. However. I got a pheasant wing from there to place it on display only to realize it was infested with poultry mites. I had it completely isolated in a glass case only to realize it had completely withered away and the shoulder was covered in eggs. I had to throw it (and the box away). If they can't properly vet their sources for sanitized specimens, I also don't trust their "ethical" sources anymore.

Charissa K.

Yelp
The vibe in this store is a whole other world. I love it! The baskets, the dried flowers, the moss. It's just a really great place to be. Pros and cons vary person to person. I can see why some people are upset by no phones out, but I like that no one's chatting on speaker and talking loud. I did have a list of books I wanted to see if they carried but once I got in I couldn't remember them and couldn't take my phone out so next time I'll bring a handwritten list. I think they don't want people photographing their displays and copying them, or maybe it's cause people "shop around" on Amazon for a better price while standing there? I'm sure the rule exists for a reason. Be aware if you go to Salem on Samhain, or ANY of the holy days, they will be closed and have given their employees the day off to celebrate so plan accordingly :) Yes even without phones, and closed on Halloween it's still a 5 star store, and I was able to find weird things like porcupine quills, deer ribs, wolf bones and more. Worth the wait in line.

Yelp
I was just looking for some blessing seeds online when I came across their website, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't overpriced or overly sensationalized like a lot of Wicca/witchcraft websites tend to be. So while I was at it I bought a few other supplies I've been wanting. I was surprised with how fact it came, and the care it was packaged with. Everything was obviously hand-packaged, and very carefully. And at the bottom of the order paper they hand-wrote a thank you. It's the small details that left me really happy with my order. They're absolutely going to be my go-to for all future spell supplies, and I've already recommended it to my friends. My one complaint is the scrying bowl was dirty. It didn't take much effort to clean it up though, so no harm no fowl.

Yelp
This store has a policy of no photograph inside and we respect that. I asked the store manager about this policy and they were pretty friendly and straightforward in answering them. What followed this was a a lot of conversations and a lot of exchange of information. They are a 7 years old shop and they are extremely interested in different symbols of different culture, not just witchcraft, that human being have been used over the centuries of civilization as a symbol of healing. Having this discussion with her made me realize that symbols of men depending on geographical locations are different but they all mean the same and we evolved together.

Yelp
Theres just something truly inviting and good in this wonderful shop. I was in Salem visiting and sightseeing and had walked into numerous shops and this is the one I came back to twice. The overall aura and helpful people is something that cannot be dismissed. If you're looking for a particular herb or stone, they have it. Look no further. This place is a blessing.

Yelp
Great vibes, sweet staff, and useful materials. Great little shop! Bought a few herbs and some really good books. Highly recommend

Yelp
A lot of the stores in Salem are absolutely filled with crap, so I'm thankful to have found Coven's Cottage! It's the complete opposite from a lot of other places down the road from it that just sell cheap, touristy tchotchkes. Rather, this is a beautiful shop filled with all sorts of things-- books, stones, bones, dried herbs, you name it. I've also purchased from their online store, which was very easy. This might not be the place where you find cheap souvenirs from your trip to Salem, but I would definitely recommend stopping by to anyone who is interested in learning more about Paganism or who is Pagan.

Yelp
Great store to shop for herbs and dried flowers! The staff are very kind and greatly hospitable. I have to admit I was overall not a fan of Salem, MA. Strange energy weaved through that city but some places shined with a light radiance. This lovely store radiated beauty and love. The items for sale were unique to other stores in the area and not "touristy." Crossing the threshold was like walking into a secret cottage hidden in a magical forest. Honestly, visiting The Coven's Cottage and staying at The Daniel's House Bed & Breakfast is what made my trip to Salem wonderful. I LOVED this store! You must visit if you're ever in Salem, MA.
google avatar

Brianna E.

Yelp
What a cool shop! I LOVED all of the dried flowers, it was so beautiful and the store smelled amazing. The guy who greeted us was really friendly and helpful. I didn't end up making a purchase today, but this will always be a stop for me when I am in Salem. It's more unique compared to the other stores and it makes you feel like you are going back in time.
google avatar

Hayley G.

Yelp
I was intrigued by the line and decided to go in. I am so glad I did it was the most beautiful and unique store I've ever been to! Beautiful greenery hanging from the ceiling. I purchased a cool item to ward off evil spirits. If I'm ever back in Salem I'm going back. The person at the door who let us in was really nice and so was the cashier.

Yelp
My favorite shop in Salem, because it's the real deal. Most shops in Salem are touristy and can be really cheesy or overly dramatic. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are great. You go in and get the sense of walking into someone's little cottage with dried flowers hanging from the ceiling, hand made baskets filled with various herbs, crystals or animal teeth for sale and a sense of warmth. It's an expierence for sure. It is simply stunning inside with how beautiful the shop is arranged. As far as I know it's a family owned shop that sells stuff they grow, they make, and from local artists. The prices are also really decent especially for such a touristy area. For example, they sell raven statues for 26 dollars each while another shop down the street sold the same ones for 59 dollars each. I was shocked when I saw the price difference. Their stones are also a dollar a piece which is amazing. Everywhere else charges at least two dollars plus a stone! The shop keepers definitely worship the old Norse pantheon so most things are geared towards heathens and people who practice Asatru. Gorgeous statues of Freya, Baldur and Odin are around, the music is wonderful and is reminiscent of "the old days" and there is some thing for everyone no matter who you worship or what you practice. I can't wait to visit right before Yule and see how they decorate then!

Yelp
I came to Salem, MA and was searching for an authentic place to buy natural products. It's a very small cottage store where they only allow a few people at a time for a reason. You're also not allowed to take any pictures inside as well. But overall it is 100% authentic, as you walk around they have herbs hanging from the ceiling, and bottles of natural ointments as well. I bought their rosemary + rose gave toner, absolutely to die for. I love the smell and freshness I get from wearing it. I also purchased a Sage spray to cleanse my room and crystals from any negative energy. I would recommend coming to this place just be prepared to wait a line to get in on the weekends.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
I'm absolutely obsessed. So incredibly beautiful and filled to the brim with unique artisan products. The staff was very friendly and the no phone rule makes it so special as you're really able to disconnect and be in the moment. Will definitely be coming back and ordering online as good energy is worth supporting.

Yelp
This place is one of my favorite stores to go when I stop by Salem. So much to choose from and great customer service. I love the atmosphere. Smells nice and very authentic!

Fairouz S.

Yelp
I was in here for like ten minutes but I have severe social anxiety and it wasn't draining. It was pretty chill and a nice place to be. I wanted the whole store, but I left with beautiful blood stone runes, it was love at first sight lmao. One of the people there went through and double checked that there were no repeats or flaws or anything. I said I didn't need a bag or a receipt, and one of them said, "you make my druid heart smile!" And it high key made my day. I'm new here so I'm lucky to have found the right witchy shop immediately. Will def be returning. I recommend heavily!!!!

Yelp
As a green witch and a practitioner for over two decades now, much as I love Salem (obviously!), sometimes the witch stores that come and go can come across as 'touristy' and a little less genuine. Not so here. From the good selection of appropriate music playing, to the arrangement of the store and products, and the attentions to detail on decor, such as the moss 'growing' around some displays, it's very apparent that this is a cared for store. A great variety of books, spells, dried flowers and herbs, crystals, candles, incense, without the products all being mass market and available everywhere. In fact, we had a nice chat with the friendly and knowledgable staff, and they told us how a lot of what they sell is produced by local artisans, which is a lovely touch. I was able to find a lovely small wall plaque of a specific diety I was searching for and what will become my new Book of Shadows.
google avatar

Teresa H.

Yelp
Absolutely love the atmosphere here. If you are looking for a nice Pagan shop for the area, go here. Does not feel like the peddled witch crap of the other stores in area. Friendly staff. Like all places in Salem, masks are required and limited capacity.
google avatar

Isabella E.

Yelp
There's a lot of stores in Salem with similar stuff, I found this store to be very unique and just a total pleasure to hang out in! Very nice guy behind the counter, even though they were super busy.

Sophia C.

Yelp
Such an amazing place with a wide verity. The prices were great and the workers were very helpful, I will for sure be coming back!
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
This shop is so adorable. I've gotten incense and crystals from here and loved them. The inside is very relaxing and has very calm energy.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
So much love for this shop! Not the crap massive produced items from China that you see in other shops, but real Artisan creations as well as useful tools of the trade. This is a family business and what the sell is who they are. My favorite pagan shop I have ever stepped foot in. The others in Salem could learn from your authenticity!
google avatar

Kenya M.

Yelp
So many amazing herbs and Wiccan stuff. There were a lot of things I liked but they were closing early. Next time I come to Salem, I'm going back.
google avatar

Alexz R.

Yelp
Went in today to purchase some stones my reiki master suggested. Was indirectly called out by someone working in the shop because I was looking at the email my instructor sent me on the stones I should get. After being scolded directly for being on my phone, I explained to the person working that I was just checking the names of the stones I wanted to get. She told me to go stand outside and be on my phone out there. My friend and I left after that because we didn't want to purchase anything tainted by negative energy like that woman had. Next time, why don't you be kind to the people who come in your shop and offer to help them find what they are looking for instead of having negative intention and attitude? I saw your no phone but texting okay sign. Bummed my reiki energy healing email was not allowed.
google avatar

Sammi A.

Yelp
This was my favorite store hands down in Salem! I think in my 4 day stay I came to this shop 3 times. They don't allow any photography in the store so I took some pictures of my purchases. The store inside is completely gorgeous. Dried herbs and flowers everywhere, the aromatic smells of oils, incense, and candles are marvelous. I wish I was in the shop right now.

猫

Yelp
Great shop, friendly and very informative staff !! Will stop by next time I'm in Salem

Yelp
Had a reading with Jen last September and wanted to wait before I gave a review. She was nice to talk to but nothing she said came true for me. She said in "April 2017 a job starts coming up for me, bigger than local, not quite national Another person is moving this winter, need replacement for him a guy wants to stay through December then get out, move to different level Job posted towards ends of this year Hear about it tail end of November begin of December" None of this came to pass. She told me she felt "More Cali than anything else, maybe Las Vegas. Sees me on TV on a bunch of different monitors around the area." Didn't happened. She said I would be working for one of the major networks in 6 months, I am still looking. Like I said, she was pleasant enough during our talk, very polite and seemed sincere enough but she was totally off on what she said would happen for me.

Yelp
Pagans, unite and take over!!! And shop here and only here. Most shops in Salem are marketing to the tourist crowd and tourists are novelty shoppers. Coven's Cottage is not for them. Coven's Cottage is for GODS AND GODDESSES AMONG MEN!! Wanna be Ragnar and be pagan? Go here. Wanna SHAG Ragnar and be pagan? Go here. Are you already living your inner Lagertha in everything you do and just need some chill incense to relax in the bath with? GO HERE!!! Even if you just have some dank energy in the house and need to sage that shit - Go here. And no where else. Enough said.

Sarah C.

Yelp
I visited not to long ago, a few weeks, I searched all over for an oddities shop, and came across this one, after deciding to buy a way over priced raccoon skull (60$) I asked them to wrap it, they did and I brought it home. The next morning I opened the tissue paper and multiple beetles (see photo) came out of the skull, I brought it outside and found multiple of those black little bugs crawling in it. I then realized that there was still a significant amount of tissue inside the skull. I had to soak it in degreaser, and then after I took it out of that, I noticed the jaw bone was cracked in half, and I just assumed I had broken it. Well today, I pulled it out of the peroxide it was soaking in, and to my surprise there was hot glue left over on one side of the jaw bone and a small amount on the other, so not only did I buy a beetle infested over priced skull, but I was sold a broken one that I was told was "in one piece" I did reach out over Instagram, just saying that they should check there other things. And I got no reply. I wasn't going to write a review until today when I saw the glue. Please don't purchase things from this shop.

Kelli H.

Yelp
I was told upon entering no photos or videos. What I wasn't told is that if I look at my phone, to see who was calling me, that I would be called out and humiliated in front of the whole store. My phone was on silent too! You really should make this clear. Seems you care more about your merchandise being copied than about your customers.
google avatar

Bridgette H.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Salem for a few days for our anniversary and since there are no shops like this where we live, I wanted to visit as many as possible while I was there. This shop was by far my favorite that I visited. The store had a very peaceful and relaxed energy. They had a nice variety and the prices were also very reasonable. I definitely recommend this shop!
google avatar

Kaitlyn P.

Yelp
I just came here for the first time on Friday with my best friend and we LOVED it! Everyone who works here is incredibly sweet, they have a GREAT selection and everything is very well priced. The 5 customer limit is also really smart and well executed. Very happy with my purchases and I'll be back

Astrid T.

Yelp
I ordered online from this shop after hearing high praises about it from The Fat Feminist Witch podcast. I was a little worried as to how the hanging dried herbs would travel, but everything was packaged SO securely. The dried herbs and rolled incense are extremely fragrant and aesthetically beautiful! I am so so impressed with the authenticity and quality of everything. Thank you!!

James N.

Yelp
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Waited in two lines to see the same thing you could see at any of the other shops in Salem. Was told I couldn't even use my phone to google an author of a book I wanted to purchase . Not worth the time check out any of the other wonderful shops that offer the same stuff with a better atmosphere!!
google avatar

Gwen G.

Yelp
This is not a tourist attraction. This is the real deal. I've seen the witches hanging their herbs late at night as I walked home from late night dinner. They have a great variety of herbs, crystals, candles and more. If you want to deal with real magic this is the place to come. It's not the only place. But it's 100% worth stopping by.

Amanda F.

Yelp
Great vibe and beautiful decor. Focuses more on Celtic or Nordic rituals and will call to quite a few green witches:) Good selection of the basics. Definitely worth a visit for the decor and the vibe but don't expect anything amazingly unique.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite store in salem and possibly the whole world. I can't recommend it enough. I always say it's the most authentic shop in town, because it really is. The family that runs it is so sweet and you can tell their heart is in the business. I actually love that you can't use your phone in there- you get to appreciate everything without hearing anyone loudly talking in the phone.... or any distractions in general. they have some of the coolest stuff there- amazing sage as always, but you'll find random things like a chicken leg holding an amethyst (which i of course purchased) the store is super tiny but you could spend hours inside of it. if you want to spend money on a keepsake to remember your time in Salem spend it here!! Not to mention that they have the best prices on crystals in town! $1 each whereas the village silversmith charges upwards of $5 for the same size. Can't wait to come here again when I get a chance

Yelp
I visited this shop today with the intent to purchase a necklace for my daughter. It's absolutely beautiful in here and filled with positive energy. It smells lovely as well. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely helpful and kind as he read to me the descriptions and meanings of the pendants I was interested in. Fair prices. Excellent customer service. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Nice place with a lot of goods for a true practitioner, and help for the beginner. The employee roaming the store was very overzealous in stating there was no cell phone usage to my son, which I totally get in October when I'm normally there. But this is August and he wasn't on the phone, and she was a bit rude. However, the lovely woman and adorable kid behind the counter made up for it. I'll continue to visit!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place in person you guys, and I love ordering online. We stop there every time we are in MA to drop off and pick up our college student, and I am in need of some assistance with good fortune, so I ordered items last week. They arrived very quickly, so carefully packed, and were even better than I expected. The lovely shop owners even included a beautiful little gift for ordering. So unexpected, and so very appreciated. We will be back again in May in person, but I will certainly order online if needed.
google avatar

Athena D.

Yelp
Loved it here! Needed more time to shop around, but I will be back. Lots of Wiccan supplies, tools and books. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and kind. He was impressed that I knew the difference between an athame and boline. Highly recommend this shop!

Kate D.

Yelp
Small, nice shop filled with witchy finds! Less touristy and more authentically witchy, it has a small but good selection. Nicely decorated! Definitely strict on the no cell phone rule, not a bad thing, just one to keep in mind!

Yelp
What an amazing little shop! With some of the most amazing products I have seen. The Coven's Cottage was the complete highlight of our impromtu getaway to Salem on a very rainy Sunday.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful shop in the heart of Salem. Loads of herbs and extremely well priced gems, even a section for bones! What I really like is that everything is simple, not gimmicky at all like many of the other shops. Truly a little haven. The only thing I didn't like was how rude the older woman was, she treated me as if I was another nuisance tourist, despite actually living in the city. She took about 10 minutes to check out the girl in front of me who certainly "looked" the part of living in Salem. The younger worker was an absolute doll though!
