The Best Hotels in Barbados

"Tamarind is the most family-friendly hotel in Elegant Hotels’ Barbados portfolio and is perfect for toddlers and teens alike. Set on Paynes Bay, swimming is safe for tiny tots in the crystal waters, while kayaking, sailing, and snorkeling will keep older kids amused for hours. Children can also join a dedicated island experience, during which they learn local phrases, cook typical dishes and take home a Bajan ‘passport’. Styling is bright and breezy with pops of color from modern artwork, rugs, and printed textiles across the 101 bedrooms. For dining, search out the Bajan specialities, such as flying fish, roti, and macaroni pie, or take advantage of the Dine Around program at the other Elegant Resorts properties for a change of scenery. Days at Tamarind start at the Sugar Cane Room, where you can enjoy fresh papaya juice, traditional ‘bakes,’ and the fluffiest herb omelettes. Head to the beach for snorkeling—you may spot sea turtles and manta rays—or to one of the three pools, where fruit kebabs and popsicles are served to cool you down. —Angelina Villa-Clarke Book now at Marriott Book now at Booking.com This article was originally published on Condé Nast Traveller UK." - Angelina Villa-Clarke, Rosalyn Wikeley

9 Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Barbados

"Top amenities included: Private entrance to property’s exclusive beach, access to five distinct poolsWhat’s nearby: Lush landscape and rugged coastlines just steps away from the resort This resort, founded in 1887, is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the entire Caribbean. There are several pools that cascade along the cliff top overlooking the ocean, and down below, Crane Resort guests have a private entrance to the powdery pink sand and the beach club. On the historic grounds are six restaurants ranging from contemporary Caribbean to southern Italian. Bar 1887 stands out for its homey environment with a wraparound veranda serving up nightly live entertainment and signature cocktails, including the infamous Crane Rum Punch. Between dips at the pool and exploring the island, the Serenity Spa offers a large range of treatments to kick back while the kids meet new friends at their own club." - Scott Bay

How 3 Caribbean Destinations Are Welcoming Visitors Back

"Visitors who arrive from high-risk countries without proof of a negative test will be tested at the airport, where they'll remain until results are available. The Crane Resort is offering a one-night package (rooms start at $190) that includes priority airport processing and, for an additional $150, a COVID-19 PCR test performed en suite, giving visitors a cushier place to wait out results."

Why Is Sex Better in Hotel Rooms?

"Relationship therapist Marissa Nelson believes so strongly in the healing power of vacation sex that she created an entire business around it: IntimacyMoons. Several years ago, Nelson noticed a recurring theme among many clients in troubled marriages. Some would take trips to mull whether to divorce or stay together; those who did go away to a hotel usually opted to remain married, raving about reconnecting via the great sex they’d enjoyed on the trip. In response, Nelson created her startup, which whisks a small group of couples away to the Crane hotel in Barbados for a few days. The vacation combines private couples’ therapy sessions with a chance for participants to unwind (rates start at $2,500 per couple)."

This was our second stay at The Crane. We truly love the resort—the property is beautiful, the beach is one of the best in Barbados, and the pools are fantastic. Zen is excellent, and Carriage House is quite good as well. That said, restaurant choices overall could be improved. The Italian restaurant, in particular, felt disappointing and would frankly be better off closed in its current form.|Unfortunately, our positive impressions were overshadowed by what happened on the last day of our stay. While packing, we discovered that a brand-new women’s linen shirt from Banana Republic (never worn, purchased just before our trip, ~$100) was missing from the closet. Because it was hanging among several other shirts and dresses, we didn’t notice until we began packing.|The far greater concern, however, was how the hotel staff handled the situation. The shift manager called security, but the head of security’s reaction was dismissive and unprofessional—he smirked when we explained the missing item, appeared annoyed that we had even raised the issue, and told us: “What do you expect me to do about it?” Beyond quickly checking the door lock record, no effort was made. No apology, no acknowledgment of our frustration, no offer of assistance or even basic courtesy.|When we returned home, we carefully rechecked all of our belongings and confirmed the shirt was indeed missing. Based on how it disappeared—taken from the middle of other hanging clothes—it feels intentional rather than accidental, and raises real concerns that this may not be an isolated incident.|While some might argue that the monetary value isn’t large, this kind of premeditated theft is serious because it erodes trust in the hotel and creates lasting damage to the guest experience. The lack of any meaningful response from your staff was even more troubling than the loss itself.|We came back to The Crane because we enjoyed our first stay so much. Sadly, this experience has left us questioning whether we can recommend or return to the resort.

Truely loved our experience at The Crane Resort. Fantastic and friendly staff at this gorgeous 40 acre resort complete with monkeys swinging in the trees, frogs singing in the evening and roosters to wake you in the am. Restaurants delish. Pools clean and refreshing. Can't wait to go back!

My first ever staycation was spent at the Crane Resort in St. Philip, Barbados. From the beginning to the end of my four night stay, I enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor ambience. From the cleanliness of both my suite and the grounds to the excellent customer service and respect I received from everyone I interacted with. Excellent quality in all areas. I was not disappointed!

Huge, beautiful room, the room's plunge pool was surprisingly cold but the rooms were massive and inviting. Beautifully maintained grounds. Location was far away from a lot of the islands main attractions but I enjoyed how quiet and serene it felt. The views over looking the ocean at the cliffs and the beach on property are absolutely stunning. Staff was excellent.

Barbados is a beautiful island with many resorts that are stunning from the outside; but we never see the inside of them because we can’t not go to the Crane- we love it so much. We have gone to Barbados for three consecutive years for a Ninja competition, and every year we consider staying at a different resort. The competition even gives discount promo codes for other resorts, but we still chose the Crane each year, and so do many other Ninjas. And we are never disappointed- always happy we stayed at the resort we love. It’s like luxury and home combined. And since it’s on the Atlantic side of the island, the beach has great waves! We visit the calmer beaches (all beaches are public and free in Barbados) but we enjoy the beautiful Atlantic beach that is unique to the Crane. Many of the public Atlantic beaches are too rocky, so the Crane is perfectly located in our opinion. It’s nice to come out of our suite and walk a few feet to a beautiful, crystal-clear Atlantic beach.

My therapist was very professional and did an excellent job. The massage was very relaxing with the right amount of pressure applied to ensure a great sensation on my muscles. The ambience was perfect and the room temperature just right.

I can't really express the beauty of this resort. The views, the beach, the pools, the rooms and to top that off the dozens of monkeys 🐒 on property just took it to another level. Don't miss Tuesdays night down at the beach for the BBQ and fire dancers. Beautiful and a vibe. Zen is the best restaurant on property imo, everything was delicious. Make sure to include free daily breakfast with your reservation.
