The Best Hotels in Barbados

"Tamarind is the most family-friendly hotel in Elegant Hotels’ Barbados portfolio and is perfect for toddlers and teens alike. Set on Paynes Bay, swimming is safe for tiny tots in the crystal waters, while kayaking, sailing, and snorkeling will keep older kids amused for hours. Children can also join a dedicated island experience, during which they learn local phrases, cook typical dishes and take home a Bajan ‘passport’. Styling is bright and breezy with pops of color from modern artwork, rugs, and printed textiles across the 101 bedrooms. For dining, search out the Bajan specialities, such as flying fish, roti, and macaroni pie, or take advantage of the Dine Around program at the other Elegant Resorts properties for a change of scenery. Days at Tamarind start at the Sugar Cane Room, where you can enjoy fresh papaya juice, traditional ‘bakes,’ and the fluffiest herb omelettes. Head to the beach for snorkeling—you may spot sea turtles and manta rays—or to one of the three pools, where fruit kebabs and popsicles are served to cool you down. —Angelina Villa-Clarke Book now at Marriott Book now at Booking.com This article was originally published on Condé Nast Traveller UK." - Angelina Villa-Clarke, Rosalyn Wikeley

9 Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Barbados

"Top amenities included: Private entrance to property’s exclusive beach, access to five distinct poolsWhat’s nearby: Lush landscape and rugged coastlines just steps away from the resort This resort, founded in 1887, is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the entire Caribbean. There are several pools that cascade along the cliff top overlooking the ocean, and down below, Crane Resort guests have a private entrance to the powdery pink sand and the beach club. On the historic grounds are six restaurants ranging from contemporary Caribbean to southern Italian. Bar 1887 stands out for its homey environment with a wraparound veranda serving up nightly live entertainment and signature cocktails, including the infamous Crane Rum Punch. Between dips at the pool and exploring the island, the Serenity Spa offers a large range of treatments to kick back while the kids meet new friends at their own club." - Scott Bay

How 3 Caribbean Destinations Are Welcoming Visitors Back

"Visitors who arrive from high-risk countries without proof of a negative test will be tested at the airport, where they'll remain until results are available. The Crane Resort is offering a one-night package (rooms start at $190) that includes priority airport processing and, for an additional $150, a COVID-19 PCR test performed en suite, giving visitors a cushier place to wait out results."

Why Is Sex Better in Hotel Rooms?

"Relationship therapist Marissa Nelson believes so strongly in the healing power of vacation sex that she created an entire business around it: IntimacyMoons. Several years ago, Nelson noticed a recurring theme among many clients in troubled marriages. Some would take trips to mull whether to divorce or stay together; those who did go away to a hotel usually opted to remain married, raving about reconnecting via the great sex they’d enjoyed on the trip. In response, Nelson created her startup, which whisks a small group of couples away to the Crane hotel in Barbados for a few days. The vacation combines private couples’ therapy sessions with a chance for participants to unwind (rates start at $2,500 per couple)."

Very comfortable I had a wonderful and very relaxing stay at The Crane. The location is stunning and a bit more secluded, which we loved. The pools are fantastic, and the beach is magnificent. The rooms are spacious and luxurious well-appointed. The only minor downside is that because it's more remote, you'll rely on the resort's restaurants or need a taxi/car to explore other dining options. Overall, a beautiful property perfect for a tranquil getaway.resort. Spacious

The resort is absolutely amazing. The staff is amazing and extremely helpful. We were always greeted with a good morning/good evening and a smiling face. The reason I didn’t put 5 stars for location is the resort is on the south eastern coast and most of the action is on the south western/western coasts. However, they have a taxi service that can take you anywhere you want to go on the island. The restaurants on site are amazing as well as some very close by. Don't forget to reserve a table though. I highly recommend everyone to stay at this resort and I do plan on coming back.

We've visited the Crane about 8 times over the last 12 years. It's still our favorite place in the world to vacation. Though Hilton Grand Vacations has significant presence now, it's still the Crane that we have loved for years. Each time we visit, a broad smile grows on our faces as we enter the property. The Crane is a 40 acre village that's nestled in a natural arboretum. It's a feast for the eyes that also has numerous shops, pools, and restaurants.||The fitness center is well equipped (| started my 60th birthday with a workout). There's live entertainment in the evening, and good food at the Carriage House. And of course, there's the Crane's famous rum punch ... it gently sneaks up on you, but it packs a wallop!!||The true star of the Crane is its amazing people. Miquel, Gloria, Talisha, Angela, Shaquan, Erroll, Nicole, Nadine, Ranisha, Shelly, Joshua, Joe, Kiemar, Rashawn, Corey, and Peter... these folks, and their colleagues, make the Crane a home away from home. (yes, they make such a positive impression that I've listed their names). Thank you, Team. (apologies if I've misspelled names)||No matter how often we visit, the Crane leaves us wanting more. We find ourselves planning our next visit while waiting to board our flight back home.

The Crane was an awesome place to stay. The staff were friendly and very prompt with service! The staff served pool side which is fabulous! The accommodations were great! The rooms are large and mostly updated! There are 4 different pools to choose from and we’re mostly great! They could have been a bit cleaner but as we were here it was very windy so that is probably why they were a bit dirty. The only downfall is that the Crane is far from the main area of Barbados. At least a 30min commute. We did not rent a car and cabs were about 45$ one way. Most restaurants were good! We did not get to experience the Italian restaurant as it was closed the entirety of our trip. The beach at The Crane was nice but just not usable for us. The water was very very rough and there was loads of seaweed. They were not offering a shuttle to Carlisle Bay until Thursday of our trip.

The room was amazing and everyone here has been very sweet! The only thing that we were shocked by was that everything was closed on Sundays. Check in took a while, and make sure that you call the crane before flying so that they pick you up at the airport. The taxis can get a little expensive. The food here is amazing, we got a smoothie every morning from the village cafe, our favorite restaurant on property was the Zen. The service was great, they will help schedule taxis for you round trip at a lower cost than getting a taxi yourself. Someone came in every single day to change out towels, do dishes, and make our bed. The only downside to this was location. It is very far away from everything, so anytime we wanted to go somewhere it was a 40+ minute drive. The beach had moss everywhere from the storms, so the crane paid for a shuttle every day while we were here to go to a VERY nice beach with umbrellas and chairs. They also had food and a bar. Overall was absolutely wonderful and will be back for sure.

We went to the Crane for lunch at the Carriage house. The 4 of us had great lunches everyone's plates were empty. The atmosphere and views were spectacular and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The property is beautiful. The rooms are clean and beautiful! However, service is bad. While still at home called reservations at the Crane 3 times over 2 days to extend our stay. Kept getting voice mail. No one returned our call. Finally, I called corporate and they got someone for me. Tried to make dinner reservations on property with theCrane App. Never got it to work. Talked to front desk about it twice and basically was told that happens. Wait 30-40 for a drink at pool or restaurant. Restaurant service soooo slow. At pool everytime we ordered lunch we did not get side we ordered but were at that point just glad to get food, as we had waited si long. The pools had broken lights dangling by cords from wall to pool floor. Dangerous. Asked for plates to share app they would bring one plate.

3 bedroom suite was roomy and nice. Could do with a few more utensils and supplies in kitchen. AC struggled a bit and a couple of maintenance things but the staff were on it. Quiet peaceful grounds.
