The Criterion Hotel Motel

NOT A GREAT REVIEW. Tables sticky. Easy to read menus and good prices. Good variety but don’t expect to get what you order. You have to ask for gravy. If you ask for salad with you fish meal, don’t expect it. Then when you ask the waiter where your salad is, he goes away and rudely comes back with a docket and says rudely, you didn’t order it. Wow. A simple, i will get you a bowl. Didn’t care much for him. They bring out meals oddly. Wife gets meal and husband gets his 15 minutes later. Then on came the crappy loud music. The iPhone wouldn’t sync properly all night and music dropping in and out. They were playing stupid bingo with music. Couldn’t have a decent conversation without having to yell. Not a great atmosphere. Meals were tasty and bar staff friendly. Wouldn’t go back. Cheers big ears

This is beautiful pub that caught us by surprise with its incredible 'grand' interior, from the entrance to the 3rd floor. Our room was older, as expected, but was spacious and clean, and better than many we've experienced from other pubs.

Very vivid and live bands are awesome! The food is great! One of the best places to experience country music, lovely locals, and Queenslander atmosphere. I highly recommend whenever you stop at the Rockhampton area. They have some fantastic games as well.

On arrival, we were greeted with Donna at reception. She promptly checked us in and explained all we needed to know. The rooms were clean and comfortable with fridge, microwave, spa bath, shower, AC, outside deck, large TV with multiple options to view whatever you fancy. A colleague and I spent a few hours downstairs at The Bush Inn Bar & Grill Steak House for a few bears before having dinner. The atmosphere, service, and experience were impressive. Overall, our stay at the Criterion Hotel Motel was an excellent choice. Highly recommend this for business, couples, or those who want to explore the Rocky region. We only stayed the one night. However, it would be easy to stay several.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lovely historic pub we came across on a day trip to Rockhampton deciding to have lunch here because it is dog friendly with a well priced menu with good reviews. We both had the Goat Cheese, macadamia and fig salad with added grilled chicken $25. It was absolutely lovely we even had enough chicken for the pups so they were also delighted. Really friendly service with view of river - relaxing and welcoming.

Visited Rockhampton today enjoyed the observing some of its history and beauty. Impromptu visit to Pub - couple of drinks and lunch. Our little furry friend enjoyed the break from heat and a rest - what an absolutely ripper Pub/Establishment. Wish I was there for weekend. Jenny(hope I got that right) at bar was superb - ordering a drink, a meal question about the pub and it’s incredible history and memorabilia. Sensational

This place is so cool. For starters let's just say the building is amazing and the chandelier in your lobby is to die for. Ambience A1, best place to party in Rocky. Patrons always seem to have the best time. Highlight: Core is the best Pub rock band alive. They really know how to get the party going!! Love to party at the cri in Rocky!!! Willing travel 4 hours cause night-life in mackay sucks!!!

Excellent meal. Had the prawn,calamari and bacon fettuccine. Absolutely delicious. 5 huge Prawns and heaps of calamari. Pasta cooked to perfection and the sauce full of flavors bought it all together. Would rate meal 5 star. Only suggestion is that The table staff clear the table as you finish rather than when you leave. It's nice to be able to relax after dinner without dishes in front of you not having being cleared........not at home after all and expect a different standard of service ☺️🤗

Day 5 of my Aussie Road Trippin' adventure took me to Rockhampton, smack-bang in the middle of Beef Week, a 3 yearly event to celebrate everything beef. Hungry and keen to get in on the action, I acted on the recommendation of a local friend and visited the Criterion. Well kept, welcoming and full of interesting memorabilia, the Criterion failed to disappoint. Sure, I was spoiled for entertainment during Beef Week, but I am certain from the reviews of locals that this is a great spot for a hearty meal and a frosty beverage at any time. Despite the mad rush, my juicy, tender rump was presented to me in a timely manner, and my glass of Kilkenny was delicious to boot. The meal sizes are extremely generous, so I advise visiting on an empty stomach. The "Cri" is an excellent choice for an authentic Aussie meal, in the heart of Australia's beef growing region. Treat yourself to a prime rump or sizzling sirloin, and you won't be disappointed.

Three out of five stars! The Cri is located right on the river and has a bar with slightly better than pub style meals. It seems to be in a pretty good area and there is plenty of street parking. It was also stumbling home distance from my hotel in Rocky, which was a nice bonus. I had the smaller rump, which came with a choice of chips & salad or potatoes & vegies (I had the chips, naturally). It was $25 and it was not what I would call a small meal but it was very tasty and satisfying. There were quite a lot of steaks on the menu but there was still plenty of non-steak options. I thought while I was in the beef capital of Australia, I should probably have the steak, though. Overall, a great choice if you after a place to have a beer or a nice meal. I will be coming back here next time I am in Rocky. Cheers.

Shocking. I ordered a 400gm steak cooked blue and I received 2 small thin steaks cooked well done. Place is terrible. Watery gravy. Terrible quality steak

Amazing western looking saloon restaurant. i had the their Criterion ships and yes they were delicious. i also order the New York cut stake and it was well prepare. i am going back tonight for something different. i will keep you posted.

stopping over on our way to Brisbane excellent cold beer great smelling food ordered a salad and pizza. i would recommend this place is nice and on the river

Well after a 30min wait for cold steak and lamb shanks that were bone dry a little disappointing

Enjoyed a very enjoyable and light lunch. I had an open keppel burger and it filled the spot. The venue has a very light and open feel. You could very easily settle in and turn lunch into dinner. The menu had a variety of choices and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend to everyone.

the steak was completely burned and full of ash. I had one bite and my mouth was full of bitter taste. After I asked to get a new one, first the cook and then the manager confronted me that its how they always do it. After I asked for a refund they told me I don't get any and left. No service and disgusting food.
