We went here for dinner tonight and ordered the baked Camembert cheese and Beef sliders (2w) as well as fish and chips. My friend asked if the fish could be grilled rather than battered - no problem at all, the waitstaff were very accomodating. The food was absolutely delicious - I was able to bring home some of the baked Camembert for another meal as I couldn’t finish the 2 entrees. The fish consisted of 2 beautifully cooked pieces of fish with tartare sauce, lots of nice fat chips and a beautiful salad. A great drinks list too - we were very happy with our meals and they were reasonably priced and great quality. We would definitely recommend this business and would come back again to eat if we are in Sale. The reference to $135 is for accomodation. We paid $80 odd dollars which included a drink each - very well priced.

Wagyu Porterhouse 7-9+ marbling charged me $115 for a steak that was about 250 grams , wasn’t even 1+ marbling. Who are they trying to fool. Waiters were lovely but the manager with glasses was rude as they get and had no idea about customer service. We bought about $3 k worth of business there over the weekend that will not be there ever again. It’s one thing to have a bad steak in Gippsland but another to be lied to what type of steak they serve you. My friend bought the $44 porterhouse , was exactly the same size and same quality cheap cut. Never again over priced food served by cooks that don’t even know how to make a Parma.

We had the pleasure of celebrating Mother’s Day lunch at the Criterion Hotel in Sale, and it was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome, with a complimentary glass of bubbles for all the mums – a lovely touch that set the tone for the day. The 3-course menu was outstanding. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, clearly prepared with care and quality ingredients. From the delicious entrée to the perfectly cooked main and the indulgent dessert, everything exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a great buzz in the air as families came together to celebrate. The service was attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. A huge thank you to the team at the Criterion Hotel for making Mother's Day so memorable. We'll definitely be back for future celebrations!

We stayed here over the weekend and honestly it was terrible. Every night there were drunk people walking the halls, knocking on doors and screaming between 1–3am. Management did nothing about it. Housekeeping came to change the towels, but instead of giving us new ones, they folded the same dirty towel with food stains on it and put it back as if it was clean. We also ordered a chicken parma for dinner and it was completely uneatable. The sides of the chicken were so hard we couldn’t even cut them with the knives they provided. Will never be staying here again.

Visiting Sale with 8yo grandson. Wanted to stay centre of town in a old Pub. Wow. Inside is so modern atmosphere. Who knew from outside. Family dinner (happened to be schnitzel night $21. Perfect plate.) Staff A1. Picked the cheapest room which had everything.

Hosted a large client dinner at this venue - service was excellent, food and menu was of high quality and thoroughly enjoyed. Centrally located conveniently on the highway and near suitable accommodation, it's beautifully furnished and the booking process easy and supported. Will be returning.

We are visiting Sale for the Turner & Australia exhibition at the Gippsland Art Gallery, and very much enjoyed our Friday night dinner at the Criterion. Very nice and cosy dining room, good quality and well presented food (with a nice selection of specials) and good, attentive service - and a surprisingly good wine list. Nice work Criterion dining team.

We enjoyed an excellent meal last week - very efficient and friendly service, the menus were clean, the food was delicious, prices were good, the wine list more than adequate, and the greeting from Chad was warm and friendly - overall, we really enjoyed our meal at the Crtierion.

Yelp
Won't be back. Chicken Parma was so thick and tasteless meat. Very disappointing considering all the raves about eating local produce. The arancini balls are delicious. The Romano dip with bagels wasn't our thing, It was spicy and watery. The gnocchi wasn't fluffy enough but the burnt butter sauce was delicious. The staff were lovely especially our waiter Poppy

Yelp
We stayed here on a Friday night and the place was packed with people enjoying dinner, drinks, and live music. We booked a table for 730pm and had dinner served quickly and we both really enjoyed our food. The Fishermans catch was fresh, beer battered fish with items to build a fish taco. It was really delicious. The parmy was also really good, too big to finish. After dinner, we played a game of pool and then headed upstairs. We went back downstairs at 1130pm and it was all locked up and everyone was gone. I couldn't believe it changed so quickly. I felt like I was in the real Hotel California from the song. It had a strange feeling how it could be so loud and full an hour or so earlier and then shutdown completely so early. Anyway, we couldn't hear any noise in our room the entire night. I wish my apartment was like this. I recommend staying or dining here when visiting Sale.

Yelp
Started with the crispy squid with some beer battered chips; Was crispy for sure but bland and tasted of week old oil. Chips nothing special barely cooked and not seasoned adequately. Mains of Chargrilled Kangaroo and lemon-grass and ginger pork. Only the meats were palatable out of the mains. Dessert was cheesecake mess but there was no cheese cake just a berry coulis tart. Spent 130 dollars at this establishment for food on par with a chain restaurant in Melbourne
