The Crown Inn, Woodstock, Oxfordshire - Explore & Book

"If Woodstock is one of England's prettiest small towns, The Crown is the loveliest place to stay there. Rescued from old-boozer mediocrity by owners Julian and Justine in 2014, its 9 boxy bedrooms were knocked into a spacious 5; the downstairs completely reconfigured to be light and airy. Then the real work began. Julian masterminded the overall transformation to a top-end boutique pub while Justine, an interior designer, created fresh and tasteful interiors. Each bedroom has a bold colour scheme and a unique mix of styles that blend brilliantly: retro sofas, antique drawers, modern art (exceptionally comfy beds) and vintage lighting. Downstairs, two log fireplaces, exposed stone walls, and large sash windows give the pub a rustic yet airy feel. Then there's Woodstock itself; charming honey-hued Georgian buildings draped in ivy and wisteria, alongside independent delis and boutiques. Highs With just 5 spacious bedrooms, it's perfect for a romantic break Excellent location right in the centre of pretty Woodstock; just a five-minute walk to the gates of Blenheim Palace The staff are friendly and attentive The beautiful, light-filled dining conservatory with its mosaic-tiled floor and plant-lined windowsills, plus a cosy pub area with real fires Hearty gastro fare plus delicious breakfasts in the pretty courtyard Lows No twin rooms No private parking but there's a long-stay car park a short walk away" - Liz Simpson

We stay 4 adults and a teenager in the Cottage next to the pub. It is perfectly located in the center next to the restaurants and walking distance to Palace Blenheim. Ideal to visit Oxford, the Cotswolds and so on. The cottage is really charming, well decorated, clean, nice ambiance, very well equipped. It was ideal to stay 3 days in the zone. Beds are comfortable and there is enough place for 5. Kitchen and sitting room are really nice. We were offered a bottle of prosecco. The team was very nice at our arrival even if we had to wait until 15h to check-in despite of having asked for an early check-in.

Perfectly situated just a short walk from Blenheim Palace. Lovely room which was spacious and clean. Loved the fresh tea, coffee and little bottles of milk. |Food was very good. Full English breakfast was made with meat from local butcher’s and was big enough to keep you going for the day. Good evening menu and fabulous pizzas. We were there for the horse trials and even though it was very busy, the staff were always friendly and very helpful. |We attend the horse trials every year and have stayed in several different places in Woodstock. The Crown is definitely our favourite and we enjoyed it so much, we have already booked for next year.

A pleasant stay, but getting scruffy.||We have returned many times over 5 years , because of the nice rooms, lovely toiletries and towels and comfy bed. Plus friendly staff, delicious breakfast and great coffee! ||Points that still need improving: |1. Customer recognition|2. Breakfast/ bar window benches could be cleaner|3. Staff attention to detail; dirty plates on the table too long.||But the positives still outweigh the negatives, it still one of our preferred stops.

Liked · The location is perfect for visiting Blenheim Palace and is right in the middle of the village.|My son decided to come with us and it was no problem changing our booking from 1 room to one of the cottages to accomodate us all. The cottage was lovely and very quaint showing off the character of very old homes in the UK. For Australians this is quite small!|The owner excelled at communication asking if we had any special needs and made sure we had oat milk for my son and calling the next day to make sure everything was OK|The hotel restaurant was excellent too with a good menu at reasonable prices. Breakfast was included and there was a good menu choice and it was delivered to the cottage too. Bonus!|The bath in the attic room was great for soaking after walking the Palace too. Great fluffy towels and bathrobes aswell.|Everything was very clean including the kitchen in the cottage which had plenty of crockery, pans etc if you wanted to cook. There was a supermarket over the road too.|There was central heating in all rooms and towel heaters in the bathrooms whcih all worked very well.||Disliked · The beds were a little hard for us.|The cottage wasn't ready when we arrived at about 3.30 which was dissapointing as we had been told it would be, free drinks in the bar were given as a compensation.

We had a wonderful stay here, the room we stayed in was beautiful - so clean and fresh and comfortable. The bed was lovely and big and we loved how there was a tv and couch! We had such a nice meal here too, the food was amazing and great service. Steve tended to us during our stay and he really made it special. He even arranged breakfast a bit earlier for us on the day we were leaving as we needed to be out earlier. We highly recommend and are already looking forward to our next stay!

Our room was a good size and had some nice features (large bed, roll top bath, fresh milk, nice toiletries).|The pub was friendly and welcoming; nice outside space, decent food and lovely staff.|Our room was clean, but it had no shower and was not as luxurious as the photos depicted or the description implied. The room was the attic room (no.5); it was accessed by a steep flight of stairs which would have been unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.|The public areas of the hotel were not clean and very tired.|All this may have been acceptable had it not been for the breakfast. The breakfast room seemed understaffed. Service was poor. The choice was quite good but the food was not hot and generally underwhelming.|I would not stay here again.

Terrific place to stay in Woodstock. Close the Blenheim and a nice town with lots of hospitality options. Rooms are nicely done with excellent facilities. Breakfast is excellent too. Parking is possible if you don’t mind a short walk after dropping your gear off at the Crown. Staff are very welcoming and hospitable

Overnight stay. Steve, the manager met us on arrival and personally showed us to our room and also showed us the rear night entrance. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. Super room, clean and well furnished with a smashing roll top bath in the en-suite (Room 4) Nice breakfast in the morning in the sunny dining room. Will be back!

Yelp
Great pub in a traditional town. Selling a good selection of beers and lagers. Nice setting inside and the staff make you feel very welcome. Ideal place to go if you have just been around blenheim to finish the afternoon off.
