The Crown Inn, Woodstock, Oxfordshire - Explore & Book

"If Woodstock is one of England's prettiest small towns, The Crown is the loveliest place to stay there. Rescued from old-boozer mediocrity by owners Julian and Justine in 2014, its 9 boxy bedrooms were knocked into a spacious 5; the downstairs completely reconfigured to be light and airy. Then the real work began. Julian masterminded the overall transformation to a top-end boutique pub while Justine, an interior designer, created fresh and tasteful interiors. Each bedroom has a bold colour scheme and a unique mix of styles that blend brilliantly: retro sofas, antique drawers, modern art (exceptionally comfy beds) and vintage lighting. Downstairs, two log fireplaces, exposed stone walls, and large sash windows give the pub a rustic yet airy feel. Then there's Woodstock itself; charming honey-hued Georgian buildings draped in ivy and wisteria, alongside independent delis and boutiques. Highs With just 5 spacious bedrooms, it's perfect for a romantic break Excellent location right in the centre of pretty Woodstock; just a five-minute walk to the gates of Blenheim Palace The staff are friendly and attentive The beautiful, light-filled dining conservatory with its mosaic-tiled floor and plant-lined windowsills, plus a cosy pub area with real fires Hearty gastro fare plus delicious breakfasts in the pretty courtyard Lows No twin rooms No private parking but there's a long-stay car park a short walk away" - Liz Simpson

We had a lovely stay at The Crown. The room was very comfortable (fantastic bed - really comfy!!) with good sized en-suite shower room.|Breakfast was tasty and with a good choice. The location of The Crown means that you are within easy walking distance of Blenheim Palace. We stayed for a long weekend and would certainly go back again. Julien and his team really looked after us.

Our room was a good size and had some nice features (large bed, roll top bath, fresh milk, nice toiletries).|The pub was friendly and welcoming; nice outside space, decent food and lovely staff.|Our room was clean, but it had no shower and was not as luxurious as the photos depicted or the description implied. The room was the attic room (no.5); it was accessed by a steep flight of stairs which would have been unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.|The public areas of the hotel were not clean and very tired.|All this may have been acceptable had it not been for the breakfast. The breakfast room seemed understaffed. Service was poor. The choice was quite good but the food was not hot and generally underwhelming.|I would not stay here again.

I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was spotless and well kept, and everything felt very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help, which made the experience even better. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices and a nice variety to start the day. Overall, I was very impressed and would happily stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had a very comfortable stay. Arriving after a long drive with our 4 month old we had a wonderful greeting from the team who couldn’t be more helpful bringing all our luggage (no travelling light with a baby!) and upgraded us for free to their largest room, room 4, as it was available. The room was spacious, nicely designed and had con, a huge king size bed with a spacious clean bathroom and shower. The staff were all extremely friendly and we slept very well. The included breakfast in the morning was fresh and tasty. We would absolutely stay again and really pleased with our decision to stay at the Crown. We enjoyed walking the paths of Blenheim palace just minutes away from the front door and the entire village was picturesque.

We had a wonderful stay here, the room we stayed in was beautiful - so clean and fresh and comfortable. The bed was lovely and big and we loved how there was a tv and couch! We had such a nice meal here too, the food was amazing and great service. Steve tended to us during our stay and he really made it special. He even arranged breakfast a bit earlier for us on the day we were leaving as we needed to be out earlier. We highly recommend and are already looking forward to our next stay!

Terrific place to stay in Woodstock. Close the Blenheim and a nice town with lots of hospitality options. Rooms are nicely done with excellent facilities. Breakfast is excellent too. Parking is possible if you don’t mind a short walk after dropping your gear off at the Crown. Staff are very welcoming and hospitable

Upgraded at no extra cost which was nice. Comfortable and spacious room with good facilities. We only booked for one night. |Parking was nearby. Nice village and close to Blenheim Palace.|As we went on a Sunday, we were only able to have pizza for dinner in the evening. Kitchen also closed at 8pm . Would have liked to have known this before booking dinner there. |A pleasant stay overall.

We stopped in Woodstock for breakfast before heading into Blenheim. We stumbled by this place and decided to ask if they were still serving breakfast as it was close to 11am. From the onset we were made to feel very welcome and showed to a quiet courtyard. The breakfast and coffee was great quality, serve promptly with very attentive staff. We will be back again, thanks to all involved
