Your 2026 Sports Travel Bucket List, From Milan to Mexico | Condé Nast Traveler

"For the Australian Grand Prix, this hotel is recommended for its city and Yarra River views, giving racing fans a comfortable, modern base that connects the buzz of Albert Park with Melbourne’s broader riverfront scene." - Jessica Chapel

Pros - Good sized rooms, good walk-in showers. We got the corner room, and it was great. Try to get that if you can. Coffee shop at the elevators for a morning coffee was convenient. Breakfast was good quality with lots of options. Cons - TV a bit old now, no chrome cast? Beds were a little soft. At breakfast we were seated next to a family of 6 close by. As we were a couple they could have strategically sat us somewhere more appropriate. There was a whole section of tables not being used to the left of the breakfast area. As it happened, one of family of 6 threw up all over the table and my wife helped clean up. We were then asked if we wanted to move to a new table, but it was too late by then. Come on staff use your soft skills and seat people to give both families and couples space.

I've been staying at this hotel many times , but the last 2 visits leave me appalled at house keeping. A few weeks back , we checked in at 4pm. Went to our room and some air cleaning ozone machine was on , door had a do not enter sign and that rooms needs hours to clear up. Check in q was crazy , had to go back down wait 4 someone to assist someone then to come back up and remove machine , claiming room was safe.2 enter but door tags and Google.said otherwise. We eventually went in our room past 530pm , no apology nothing. Then this week I checked in for new years eve. Arrived at 315pm, went up to my room and its unmade from last check out! Was horrified, called reception they said come back down. Hotel was fully booked. We went back down, took about an hour to sort out. Had to wait at the pool to kill some time , they did apologize and left champagne there after but the thing is time cant be replaced and that feeling of annoyance each time u arrive with excited kids and this happens. House keeping really needs to wake up.

I decided to arrange for a staycation for my mother and sister in Melbourne Crown Promenade hotel for 3 days 2 nights stay in early November. I picked this hotel given its location and easy to get around for food, shopping and casino gaming. We booked a high floor room which gave a great view over the city. The lobby was nice and cozy and the staff were friendly and helpful. |However, we discovered few areas which we would like to highlight as it was unusual and rare to experience:|1. The room has missing slappers which was missed during the house cleaning service and i needed to call the house keeping to get them delivered to my room.|2. No toothbrushes and amenities which I was told it was on a request basic. I found it hard to take in giving all the hotels I have been , this was the first hotel ever, i saw an empty box without amenities. Very unpleasant feeling.|3. Very slippery bathroom and my elderly mother nearly fell over. Having said that I also experienced the same risk after shower and I was so close fall over in the bathroom. |Given we paid over 300+ AUD dollars per night , I felt the room consisted with risk elements thar I strongly believe the hotel management need to make some adjustment to enhance these areas mentioned.

I stayed at the hotel for one night in the King City View Room. First, the staff were all excellent, starting with check-in, valet services and guest services - they treated you as an actual person whose experience at their hotel was important to you. A good example was the wake-up call I requested. In many even high-end hotels, I felt hesitant to request a call because they often act like you are annoying them... or just try to get off the phone with you as soon as possible. However, at the Promenade such a thing as a simple wake-up call was treated seriously (which it is... you could miss your flight or appointment if it is not handled properly) and politely, and the service personnel confirmed the details twice to ensure that everything would be smooth. So I was able to go to sleep without worrying if there would be a call the next morning (and there was).||The room was spacious and felt like a new or newly renovated room... except for the carpet which would be nice if they renewed... it wasn't horrible but kind of didn't match the rest of the room. The bathrooms were big, bright and had all the toiletries you need, along with robes and slippers and the shower had plenty of hot water and pressure. I mean, everything in the hotel just worked.. there was nothing which was a problem and I am sort of fussy with hotels.||I'll enjoy staying with the hotel next time I am in Melbourne.||Cam

INCREDIBLE SERVICE! I have no words to explain how amazing our experience was today planning my sisters proposal at the crown promenade. The staff were incredibly accommodating and followed our instructions to a T despite how busy they were. Ayran’s customer service was perfect. Thankyou crown for making the night so special for my sister. Will be returning

Pool was closed three times during our 5 day stay during the afternoon/evening. They said it’s due to water quality issues which I believed the first time but not the 2nd or 3rd time. Lifeguards told us to go to the Crown Towers pool instead across the road only to find it massively overcrowded. Staff seemed annoyed to have us there instead and weren’t accommodating at all. Especially during this hot weather we were counting on being able to cool down in the pool so this has ruined our stay.

What a wonderful hotel!! Location is right next to the Crown Casino, great restaurants.. easy to walk to areas of interest. The beds are comfortable and the pillows a perfect. Staff are friendly. The breakfast buffet is a little too expensive so I didn’t eat there. The gym is wonderful and the pool is amazing. Definitely worth staying here

My wife and I were here on a tour, and we had flown in from Ayers Rock area and staying at Crown Promenade. It is a huge complex, covering a couple blocks, and has a little of everything for everybody. |Casinos, Food courts and fine restaurants, Moderate to high-priced shops. Lots of entertainment including cinemas and shows. |We had dinner at DiFranseco, an Italian restaurant in this huge Crown Promenade center. Food was very good. I had their Barramundi fish, which was the best on this trip. My wife had Riscotto. Of course, we had plenty of appetizers, liquors, and a chocolate and a Tiramisu dessert. All was very good.|Crowne Promenade is a very good hotel. The only thing we found was that our room, for whatever reason, does NOT have a phone charging cable. We even talked to the manager, who confirmed, and said our own choices were to buy or rent one. That's no help. You'd think that a phone charging cable would be standard at a hotel like this.||It's the same ole, same ole breakfast that hotels serve - Boring!||Having said this, we did encounter a situation that was unique and it had never occurred to us before.|My wife left her reading glasses in the room - on the day that we flew from Melbourne to New Zealand! We had our tour guide, 'C'. interface and try to have the glasses sent back to our home in the States, figuring that it would be chaotic to try and have it sent to one of our hotels in NZ. I'm only reporting what I was told by 'C'. | I don't know what the delay was but 'C' said the hotel "would look into it." It took 24 hours before we got a response, which I thought "Why does it take that long to 'look into it'"? Anyway, there might be some mixup somewhere, as 'C' said it would cost me $29 (AUS) to have it shipped. I understand that part of it, and thought that this is very reasonable, considering it needs to be packaged so it doesn't break during transit.|It would be another 8 days before we got home.|After we got home, it took almost another week for the glasses to arrive - and what was strange: There's an Import tax of $25 (US) on it! HUH? It was NOT made in Australia, nor did I buy it there, so ... why is there an Import Tax?? I was told by 'C' - that's the way Australia is and even he is confused by some of the rules sometimes.|In either case, we're glad that Crown Promenade got the glasses to us, very nicely packaged protectively in a plastic case that was enclosed in quite a bit of bubble=wrap. WHEW! Thank You!

Yelp
Not that the chic gloss black marble wasn't magical by itself, or the large-scale gaming and the terrific casino wasn't the sparkle, but Crown Entertainment Complex, is where you play it big in Melbourne. HUMONGOUS complex covering up to 2 blocks of Entertainment. I utterly LOVE the crown. What's not to love? - 3 Fancy hotels, with nearly 1600 rooms. - Both lavish restaurants and casual dining. - Tons of high-end shops and luxury boutique. This place is hard to beat. Four and half Yelps.

Yelp
Great place to go for food, drinks and entertainment! Sunday nights they do a million dollar raffle. The Heineken bar is fun with a nice band playing. The food stations are massive and you can choose what you want to eat!

Yelp
As far as casino megaplexes are concerned, Crown is pretty insane. It covers two whole city blocks and includes a huge casino, shops for days, multiple hotels, more restaurants than anyone could realistically eat at, and... oh yeah, HUGE FIREBALLS OUT FRONT. Like, actual real-deal fireballs, allegedly they even burn birds once in a while on accident. Docked a star because like most casinos, everything inside just felt needlessly expensive. It makes sense in Vegas, but, when you're in the middle of Melbourne, I'm sure the ultra-high end pricing fits that well. The coolest thing about this casino isn't even actually inside the casino. If you follow the river towards the conference center, there's a series of helipads on the other side of the bridge. You can sit there and watch helicopters landing and taking off seemingly all day long. Apparently if you're a high roller and fly in at the airport, the casino will helicopter you straight down to the Crown complex. MUST BE NICE! Actually, maybe why that's why I'm not totally blown away by Crown, it feels like the whole thing might be designed for ultra rich. I'll just wander through, browse at the spectacle, lose some money at the casino, and go get some el-cheapo dumplings.

Yelp
There's always something for everyone and last Sunday we were pleasantly surprised to see pop stalls and bars bordering the grassy areas outside Crown along the Yarra! Kid friendly with bean bags and live music, there is something for everyone and it was nice to enjoy Crown's offerings outside in the summer sun!

Yelp
I actually thought this was a joke. I was told by senior management of Crown on the phone that because I put two bad reviews on Facebook that I and my clients are banned from the Crown complex not for misbehavior but for a bad review we all had a good laugh a casino that is so petty that it can't handle a bad review. My clients and I when visiting Melbourne can use another hotel one that is not so petty and unprofessional

Yelp
The Crown Casino in Melbourne is the biggest one in the southern hemisphere and has quite a lot to offer when it comes to gambling. You can find many Blackjack and Roulette tables in the main area of the casino. Also, there's a "low-limit" area downstairs next to the pokerroom with limits as low as 5$! I had some fun and played cashgame in their spacious pokerroom with a 50-100$ buy in and 1/2 blinds. Haven't stayed at their hotels, which are really pricy in my opinion. Their foodselection seems to be good and also for a decent price ( I had a steak menu for under 20$ at one of their restaurants next to the casino). Overall a decent place to hang out!

Yelp
Crown entertainment complex is In the heart of Southbank, it really is an entertainment complex as it holds the only casino in Melbourne, a plethora of first class restaurants, shopping stores, cinemas, function rooms, clubs, bars, bowling and an arcade. It is a fantastic location for a nice night out, the variety of restaurants here range from a trendy casual atmosphere overlooking the Yarra, to intimate fine dining experiences. Outside of Crown, water feature walls line the Yarra, not much in the day- but during the night they explode with puffs of fire from the top. It's an incredible site and moment to be walking down the Yarra as all of them let off at once. If you have never seen it before, or are showing a guest around Melbourne, I would definitely recommend this experience. Crown's main food court area offers a range of cuisines that offer quality food far beyond the expectations of 'food court food'. Crowns main attraction is its roof and light show, this giant foyer is often extravagantly displayed according to whatever the season is. Every hour the displays come to life, with music, animatronics and light shows. This is definitely worth seeing during Christmas time, as they really don't hold back with the decorations.

Yelp
I had a great time! It was much like the casino hotels that you find other cities. Great restaurants and plenty of night life options. I will probably visit again the next time I am in Melbourne.

Yelp
This place is a dizzying array of amazingness. Casino with hotels, restaurants, bars, and on and on. I've been here 3 times now for work and I still get lost in the maze of this place, and I have been in pretty much every casino in Las Vegas. Probably one of my favorite casinos to be "stuck" at.

Yelp
An entertainment complex that is not so obviously geared toward the Asian traveler, this places is a combination of casino, hotel, theatre and food court. From the food court, the amount of Asian themed stalls rivals that of Singapore. When I walked in here and not being a traitor to my own race, but all I saw were Asians. Now it's no wonder once I saw what type of food stalls were available. Dumplings, soup dumplings, ramen, tepanyaki grill, etc... Obviously, being a connoisseur of dumplings and dim sum I had to partake. Verdict, mixed. The hai-gao was good, but the sui-mai was a little greasy. The XLB wasn't juicy, but that was probably because I did not eat it right away. The pan fried dumplings were not good. A little too doughy for my liking. The place is loud and crowded. Kind of like Vegas stuffed into a mall, if you will. I liked the overall vibe of the complex and it's location next to the Yarra River. They offer a lot of options for both visitors and locals for both day and night entertainment and frankly the views of the Melbourne skyline were unmatched.
