The Great American Bigfoot Tour

"The spookiest, most unexplainable phenomena always seem to happen in rural America. So where else would you open a museum dedicated to things that go bump in the night? Any wooded area is bound to have at least one Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti sighting, and Littleton, North Carolina is no exception. However, when residents in this tiny town see strange creatures, they get local cryptozoologist Stephen Barcelo on the case. Barcelo isn’t just a one-man operation. He founded Littleton’s Cryptozoology & Paranormal Museum, which is surprisingly well-stocked for the size of the town. It’s here that he collects and displays his research artifacts, as well as other items that would be of interest to fans of the paranormal.  There are casts of Bigfoot prints, many of them made by Barcelo himself. Mrs. Beasley the haunted doll is reported to move about in her locked case. UFO sighting testimonials accompany photographic evidence of their appearances in the night sky. There is also a section of fakes—such as a Feejee mermaid. Barcelo also hosts ghost tours of Littleton, and displays ghost hunting equipment at the museum. The museum and the tours educate guests on the paranormal, but also on the history of Littleton, something Barcelo holds equally important. Since the museum’s founding in 2015, more cryptic sightings have been reported than ever before. Perhaps this is because people now have someplace to report their experiences, but Barcelo maintains that the sightings are becoming more frequent because the local logging industry is encroaching on the creatures’ habitat." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Don't want to give too much away about the museum, but for $5 (even though it is small) it was a good time. Interesting displays and merch. Engaged curator. And downtown Littleton nearby is a nice stroll. Definitely a great stop on my journey to see all 100 NC counties.

Very awesome experience and a great time!! So many sightings and always haunted things. Definitely would come again and again!

Ugh. Definitely make sure you call first because ours on here are not accurate at all. every time we want to go they're closed. Looking forward to passing this off our bucket list. Hopefully we'll get there this week. I think it's difficult when you don't have enough help to stay open. Been wanting to go and take my son for 3 years now so fingers crossed! We're about an hour and a half away so it's a little bit of a drive there and back it's an entire day for us.

Google
Crazy little museum with lots of information. The owner is a character and totally enjoyable to talk with. I definitely recommend a visit. Small but if you have even a passing interest it well worth a stop. $5 admission.

We saw this on Google maps while we were staying in bracey Virginia and decided we had to go!! The shop itself is a single building filled with all kinds of paranormal curiosities. The owner is wonderful and is clearly dedicated to his research and finding the truth about bigfoot and various other paranormal anomalies. We enjoyed our tour and definitely wouldn't mind coming back for another look!! He has guides to the latest Bigfoot sightings in the area and as always happy to help other enthusiasts try to get the food they need so we can all learn the truth!! I did take a bunch of pictures. I hope you enjoy them again with shop like this It's always better to see these in person in order to feel the energy. I included every picture i took in case anyway wants to zoom in and see if you see anything supernatural

The Cryptozoology and Paranormal Museum was an awesome place to stop and check out while on the road! They had a lot of really neat and interesting displays, plus plenty of souvenirs to pick up to commemorate your visit! I absolutely loved it here and thought it was a fantastic destination to hit while roadtripping!

I really enjoyed this! The owner is a great host and storyteller and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. New artifacts come in regularly by donation or procurement and the place is a work in progress with expansion on the way. I was here for two hours and didn’t even notice how much time had gone by. So much history! Admission is free with the option to donate - you’ll find it more than worth a couple of bucks. You can also participate in ghost tours (2hr, 4hr, overnight etc). I’ll be back. In the meantime, you should go. :)

Google
Well the reviews online said a FREE museum, which is why we went out of our way. IT'S NOT FREE. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Not a place for kids, it's small and requires alot of reading. There are some news clips and videos being played by hard to hear if you are not visiting alone. The staff was very nice. They have a u tube channel and ask that you follow, but it has nothing to do with the tour and you can take the time with that at home. Overall, it was worth taking the time to see if you are in the area, if only to support the hussle. Beware of the over priced gift shop.

Yelp
A super fun place! It's small, but one can tell by their first steps inside that there is a lot of expansion possible in the future. Lots of artifacts from all different types of spooky stuff. Creepy dolls and toys with their own back stories and foot prints from some gargantuan creatures- Bigfoot perhaps? We may never know. But the most fun we had was listening to Steve, the owner/operator regale is with all of his adventures and how he got into the supernatural. Unfortunately for my son, Steve wasn't yet offering the nighttime tours of local places due to Covid. But had he been, I'm sure we would have jumped at the chance to go on a ghost hunt. Pictures are encouraged because you never know what we might catch in the pic. Highly recommended if you're in the area. It is off the beaten path, but hopefully some day it'll grow and get more popular. We walked in just as two people were leaving and when we were done, another group came in - it seems to be a popular place already. Good for him!

Yelp
Do not, not, not go on their ghost tour. I went on it maybe 6/7 years ago and it was good. They took you out in the town and talked about some historic places and even went in an old theater where we got lots of hits. Went recently with friends and for $35 each we were handed a device to detect activity but never left the little museum they are located in now. No A/C on a hot and humid night made it worse. Gave a couple ghost stories. But that's it. A total waste of time. I did give an extra star for the little museum itself. It's $5 to get in and small, but it's ok for about 1/2 - 3/4 hours of entertainment.

Yelp
Interesting place to visit. The big foot room was the reason I went. Lovely chat with the owners. The other room got my feeling sick physically. Couldn't be in there too long, headache, the room felt overwhelming heavy, and the headache lasted for about 30 mins even after leaving. I won't go back due to that but I would say it was a very interesting place to see.

Yelp
We came in late afternoon on a Friday and there was no other patrons. We got to explore the rooms that were open on the first floor which had many great things to see. The rest of the home is being remodeled so nothing else was available and it was a little cluttered from moving. The gift shop had many cool things to offer. There were several nice areas to take photos. Our favorite part of the experience was listening to the owner's stories about coming to own the place.

Yelp
Very interesting experience. Not sure if I would go again, however, it's a good one time thing if it's a cold day or rainy in Littleton. Loved how the owner made everything an experience and let us use the ghosts detectors

Yelp
I discovered this place by chance after planning a hiking trip to nearby Medoc Mountain State Park. I decided to make a detour and check it out and I'm SO glad I did! I visited a few months ago in the middle of summer and a great conversation with the owner turned me onto a whole range of other cryptid info, events and museums. I've been checking out as many as I could ever since (From Bigfoot to Mothman in Point Pleasant, WV, to the Florida Skunk Ape!). The museum is small and appears from the outside to be just an ordinary house with a few interesting yard decorations, but a trip inside is well worth it. Neat little place and a host willing to entertain

Yelp
We had a great time here today. The owners are super friendly and very knowledgeable of the area and "happenings" throughout the region. It's in part of their home and it's free to go in and look around they do have some items for sale but they don't push it on you. Your free to take all the pictures you want and you will want to. They even offer complimentary bottles of cold water as it was a very hot day out. Cool quirky little place to go for curiosity sake. They have been interviewed by many news channels and magazines. They are happy to share the video clips which are interesting.

Yelp
What a wonderful museum. Its not very big but it is packed full of artifacts! We were also given an EMF reader to walk around with and got a couple of spikes. The man who runs this museum is lovely. I would recommend this museum to anyone looking for something to do that you do find everywhere. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Yelp
Fun! We were expecting just a 10 minute stop but stayed for an hour listening to Steve tell stories. Great evening!

Kathy W.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out for years, but I knew it was really small and wasn't sure it would be worth the 1.5 hour drive. Now, I can say that it definitely WAS worth the drive. It IS small, but there were still plenty of items to see. Also, both a museum employee and the owner were super friendly and happily shared many cool stories. Although I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to Bigfoot, etc., I still have an appreciation for other people's experiences and opinions. The town of Littleton would do well to embrace and promote this really quirky museum.

Yelp
Adorably cheesy and touristy. Steve, the host, is very enthusiastic in his presentations of Bigfoot and the spooky. Stop in for some friendly chat.

Yelp
Awesome place! Not very big, but has a lot of artifacts. The owner is super nice and personable. He's very knowledgable and will answer any questions you might have! They also have a good selection of souvenirs. I bought a T-Shirt. Overall, this is a super cool place and well worth the drive.

Yelp
This was truly a really great experience. Stephen, the owner, has a rich history of involvement in the crypto/paranormal field. This knowledge is easily accessible because Stephen is very easy to talk to and is very approachable and doesn't mind answering questions from folk with less wisdom on the subject. I couldn't recommend this place enough! My girlfriend and I will be bringing friends to come check out the museum and the ghost tours Stephen offers. Littleton is also a beautiful town with really nice architecture and an interesting atmosphere. Don't touch the hay crane!!!!

Yelp
A very quaint and interesting place to visit. I had the the pleasure of joining a ghost hunt which was very active. The group who included the owner and his daughter Holly are amazingly down to earth and very friendly! If nothing else stop by or try to join a tour for the friendly enjoyable company!! I walked in a customer and left a friend!!!!!!

Yelp
This was a "free entry" place and after the "tour" which was self-guided, we were truly less impressed. Steve told us all about the place and the items inside. It was kind of like a long run-on sentence. I realized why as I watched the video in the main look-see room. He said everything to us almost verbatim to his video. Funniest two parts: Part 1: An "EMF meter" was given to my son to use as we walked hither and yon. Told it would light up when we were near "Spirit Activity"...watch the video and you will see the most activity happened nearest the bathroom. The bathroom will always register on an emf meter because it picks up electricity and conduit; pipes and whatnot. As truth would tell, it lit up right at the same place they claim to have seen an apparition near the bathroom. Part 2: If the items contained in plexi-glass cases like the "haunted Mrs. Beasley doll" should not be opened due to negativity, what is stopping the negativity from slipping quietly through the gaping places of plexi? As an aside...if you are into paranormal stuff you may have a quickie jolt of.."ok cool" ...but just as quickly as you unwittingly are standing upon ouija board throw rugs...I think you will think something along the lines of..."At least we didn't waste money and Hey Kids! Where else can we take a pic of ourselves as BigFoot?!" BTW Steve...no offense intended. I believe you believe in what you have there and what you do and have done with it. So that IS what matters most! And....it is fun.

Yelp
So much fun. The owner sat with us and told us the haunted history of the house and area
