The Curl Bar London - Middle Lane

I visited this salon for my first curly/coily cut. My fellow curly or coily ladies know that you have to go to stylists and salons that are extremely familiar with our texture hair. The curl bar did not disappoint. I have known about them for a while but only just had a reason to visit. They are all very knowledgeable about textured hair and made me feel like I was in good hands. The products they use are top tier too. They were friendly, welcoming, and gentle with my hair. The stylist that cut my hair was called Alba. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, and my hair came out perfectly. I love it. I had an amazing experience and would defo recommend it. Thank you, Alba and all the ladies 🥰.

I went to the salon and got a curl cut as well as the scalp detox. The staff was nice and welcoming. I booked my appointment in June and met with Stacia for my consolation and since I felt comfortable with her and that she understood what my hair needed, when I was asked who I would like to do my hair for my appointment I chose her. When I arrived I saw that she was busy and I was handed off to Michelle. She sat me down and asked me question about my hair and what I would like to fix which I answered with my roots and how they don’t curl as much. During the whole process she was alternating between me and another client. After styling and cutting my hair she put me under a hood dryer while she worked on the other client and then she came back to me and used a diffuser to dry my curls more. The end result was absolutely disappointing and not worth the money my roots were straight and my ends were frizzy because when I asked for more volume in my roots she tried to fluff it up. She also told me when I style it at home to use the diffuser and the reason my roots were flat was because she used the hood dryer on me. In addition to all this the seats and floors weren’t cleaned frequently. I used the sink multiple times after other clients without it being cleaned and the chairs also wet after them.

I had the most amazing time at The Curl Bar London. Their reputation precedes them, and I flew all the way from New York just to experience it. From the moment walked in I felt safe. In terms of Covid-19: I was the only one in the salon during my appointment, which made me feel like it they were taking extra measures to ensure that everyone stayed healthy. Entering into the salon, my temperature was taken, and I was seated at a chair of my choice. Only 6 people are permitted into the salon for social distancing purposes which I appreciated. In terms of the vibe : The music was a whole mood. From chill R&B to hip hop and jazz, the playlist was fire. Perfect for a cloudy London day. Treatment, The Curl Steam by Nia : I am new to the big chop life, and Nia made sure that I was well taken care of. From the hair wash, all the way down to the styling and the relaxing diffusing period, I was asked questions throughout the process to ensure that I was comfortable. I found my forever product here during my appointment as well ! (design essentials curl forming jelly) The staff was just lovely, I wish I knew all of their names. Nia made me feel so special by creating a mini photoshoot to showcase my new cut and I walked out of there feeling like a million pounds! I abosolutely LOVED my experience at The Curl Bar London! I felt so welcomed and humbled to have Nia the Light cut and revitalise my curly hair. I've always felt uneasy about going to hair salons because they can never deal with my kind of hair, but I walked away from The Curl Bar feeling great, empowered and super happy with my new look! All the staff there are professional, friendly, super kind and above all care so much about each and every one of their customers. They are so passionate about what they do and it shows! I definitely will be coming back! Highly recommend <3

I have travelled all the way to London from Huddersfield for my daughter’s graduation and we have travelled over an hour this morning to get here for her hair appointment. However, I found the staff (receptionist) to be quite rude hostile and this will reflect badly on the business as the salon seemed very nice otherwise. Clean and the stylist who did my daughters hair (Nia) did a wonderful job and my daughter is very happy with her hair. However the cafe next door is lovely and I am sat here enjoying a latte:)

Gosh not even sure where to start with this review! I have been on my curly hair journey for some time I chose this place after doing some research (not enough). My hair was just sitting on my shoulder blade when curly; the longest it had been in 8 years!. I followed the salons instructions by booking consultation which ended up being with Nia. I explained my hair stories and that my hair has major shrinkage along with differentt textures, she assured me that the things i described would not happen. She explained the service, curl by curl on totally dry hair to avoid hair being cut too short, my appointment was booked for 7 weeks later. On the day of my appointment i arrived on time, they were running late. Alba (not the stylist that i was booked for ) asked me to take a seat, she looked at my hair took a photo of the back and explained the deluxe service. I explained i was growing my hair, that i needed to wear it out more and that i was enjoying the length. She completed the steam treatment then she started to cut my hair WET! She then set my hair in way it never has before and sat me under the dryer. Well! Obviously my hair began to shrink. My hair was diffused then cut into some more, she cut my hair into mushroomy mullet, i was absolutely devested, The receptionist noticed i was not happy as she she actually said look you dont look happy, I just wanted to leave. Over 4 inches of hair cut off from the front and 2-4 inches in the back, it is all uneven and to add to it my hair was also thinned, beyond repair. I contacted the salon explaining the terrible cut, the response was that 'maybe you did not style the hair as was shown in the salon'. Styled... 4inches of hair gone without consent and its a styling issue. Eventually i was invited back in to 'fix' the issue, Stacia attempted to elongate my curls, her technique was good however she was unable to balance out the cut because some parts were so short. I asked the salon for a refund they have refused as they have 'worked with me to fix my hair'. if you choose this salon even after reading this then good luck. Edit:7 months later and I am still trying to repair the damage caused from the awful uneven cut, the technique used-running the scissors down the hair shaft to thin the hair has split my hair from the middle if each curl. Any length has to be cut to try to stop the hair splitting further damage.

100% Recommend! The Curl Bar is the first curly hair specialist I have ever visited and I was not disappointed at all, from the time I entered the shop I was greeted and welcomed by my stylist Michelle and the lady behind the reception! During my time in the salon, I felt comfortable and also proud with the results I left with! I would like to say a big thank you to Michelle and the ladies! Thank you very much, will be visiting again in future !

I honestly cannot fault this salon. My stylist was Niah and she did an amazing job on my hair! This was my first curly cut ever & I had no idea what to expect, but Niah listened to me when I explained what kind of shape I was searching for, & she also taught me about the products I should use for my curl type and also how to diffuse and style my hair. The experience was very thorough, everything in the process was explained to me & the atmosphere was big positive vibes! Left the salon feeling stunning :) Thank you Niah! Your hands work magic 👏🏼
