Hotel is used as emergency accommodation for homeless families who they treat appallingly while making a fortune off the state. They enter the units unannounced and search the rooms regularly. One mother had her wrist broken over them not allowing her to use a baby monitor as you'd obviously be able to see what staff were up to entering rooms. Can't trust this place at all.

Hotel told us us they cater to vegans, so I booked a two day stay. This was 3 weeks in advance. On arrival we were told the kitchen had been asked to cater to vegans in advance. Next morning, went to breakfast and we were told that all the chef could offer us a a salad as "everything is cooked in butter." What about the claim the hotel caters to vegans? What about the promises on our arrival the day before? This was like something from 20 years ago, not 2022. On top of that, the room was punishingly warm, and this self-described "luxury hotel" had no air conditioning. They gave us a fan which made noise like a prop plane at take-off. Though it was less noisy than the club/bar downstairs. So we didn't really sleep. Then, to make matters worse, there was no hot water in the mornings to shower. When all these issues were raised at reception, it was met with a shrug and a perfunctory apology. No money back, no efforts to solve the issues with the kitchen, nothing. Then, as a final insult, when they sent me the bill, they addressed me as the wrong gender. This would never usually bother me but after everything else, it seemed like a calculated attempt to insult... Terrible experience.

I found the staff at reception very friendly and helpful. Room was clean if not spectacular. At breakfast in the morning the manager was most helpful and looked after me quickly and efficiently. Overall I had a very positive experience and will stay here again

I was lucky to stay for the new year weekend. The service in the reception was great the staff couldn't be more helpful. Tha manager in the bar was so professional he runs a tight ship well done. The rooms are spotless only complaint is the wobbly chairs. The food was gorgeous. I can't wait to come back this year for the new year party well done all.

Had a brilliant night at the D on Saturday,, the room was beautiful, everything you need and more in room, really clean and fresh and the bed was so comfortable. The service and breakfast were delicious, plenty of variety and eggs made by chef to order although my poached eggs could have been softer but that is only small complaint, it's been a few years since we stayed there but it certainly didn't disappoint, overall we had a really good stay

Amazing staff - Hotel was excellent - Highly recommended. 110% ! Went for one night with Family, everything was perfect. Location is excellent - Bar is great - Live music etc.. Could not fault a single thing about the D hotel in Drogheda. Bar staff also excellent and also the reception people.

Yelp
Arrival and check in was great! We were even greeted with ice cream. The view from the room was nice and the location was excellent. We were on the 6th floor on one of the hottest, more than usual, days of the year. The room was spacious and bed size was great but the bed is one mattress on a board and was not the most comfortable but adequate. The room had modern furniture which didn't appear very clean but the bathroom and rest of the room was clean except the carpet floor. It had been vacuumed well but didn't look clean. The room was VERY hot, no air conditioner. There was a nice fan and the window barely opened to allow cooler outside air in. No outlet near the window to plug the fan in to draw cool are in so it had to be plugged in across the room. The worse problem was NO WiFi. Checked in about 4:00pm. no WiFi. Called the front desk and they said they would reboot the service and retry in 20 minutes. Went to dinner, came back still no WiFi. Called the desk about five times but they wouldn't answer the phone or return the phone call. About 6:00 I went down to the desk. She apologized and said she'd send someone up. I called back down after no one came to the room. About 9:00pm an IT guy came and said we were right, there was no internet connection and he'd go reboot the system. Bedtime and still no WiFi. The next morning and still no WiFi. Called the desk, asked for a manager and was told he doesn't come in until 9:00am but he'd relay the message. NOT ONCE DURING THE WHOLE TIME DID ANYONE CALL OR COME TO THE ROOM TO MAKE SURE WIFI WAS UP AND RUNNING. Poorest service I've had in Ireland. I'd never stay here again.

Yelp
This is a pretty decent hotel with a nice view of the River Boyne, is within walking distance from the town centre and has nice rooms. The buffet breakfast was very nice with a good variety: the full Irish, both plain and fruit yoghurts, cereals, muesli, fresh fruit and fruit salads and some amazing scrambled eggs! You also order a few things like porridge, boiled/ poached eggs, eggs Benedict, pancakes etc. I do wish they had a low fat or skim milk option available. The rooms are pretty nice! I stayed on the 4th floor which is pretty massive with a super king size bed. There's also an empty mini fridge to put your own foods, a kettle and a supply of tea and instant coffee, a fan and a small hairdryer. I also stayed in a twin room on the first floor which is much smaller but still good. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the decor is crisp and clean, and there's free wifi! Bad points: The cleaning staff don't really clean the room very well. They forgot to replace used cups and spoons a few times as well as the soap and shampoo in the bathroom. Also, there's only one desk chair in the rooms, even the twin rooms so me and my friend both couldn't use the desk at the same time. Overall: Great location, clean, friendly staff, reasonable rates for a 4 star, amazing breakfast and comfortable beds!

Yelp
Do not book this hotel I had the worst stay in this so called 4 star hotel . The room was a joke stains what looked to be blood plus bed frame was damaged. watch out for the extra charge they hit you on arrival of 50 euro deposit and claim its for food or drink if we chose to spend it in there hotel, if i wanted to spend money in the hotel i would but our money being held for up to 72 hours is madness.

Yelp
D for Disappointment, D for Disorganised, D for DONT!!! I am sure this hotel is fine for just one nights stay (once you're not looking for any sort of reasonable service) but if you are planning on organising a party, function, event or even wedding then STEER CLEAR. I think this hotel is best described as Fawlty Towers if IKEA threw up on it...... Probably one of the most disorganised hotels I have ever stayed at. I attended a Christmas party with my work colleagues in December. I had the misfortune of dealing with the most disorganised events staff imaginable who could not action the simplest of tasks. Our party was booked by myself and our company's MD after a visit to the hotel in October. They went through all of their requirements etc. with the events staff member that day. This staff member subsequently left the hotel and there was no record of any of our specific requirements made on the day. After chasing the hotel with numerous emails a call was put through to our office a couple days before the event (when they were looking for the balance of the payment of course). They had no knowledge of any of the requirements discussed with the ex staff member. There are countless issues on the night in question. One of our party found dried in blood on the remote control in his room. He was moved to another room. Our private drinks reception was not managed, no nibbles as promised (2 hours previously), not enough chairs, tables etc in the room (which was a bedroom with the bed taken out of it), staff hard to find to organise drinks etc... We were promised a bar extension until at least 4am and most likely for longer if required. After the main Xmas party finished we asked where we should go for the residence bar. We were told to wait in reception (this was at 3am)... We were then refused drinks and told we must go to our rooms to order additional drinks. Obviously ridiculous when 20 of us are sitting in reception looking to have some more drinks TOGETHER! We were told we would all have to separate to our own individual rooms to order drinks. We were told conflicting things by 5 different staff members.... Appalling amateur stuff. At this point there was a very very rough crowd in the hotel throwing glass out of their window down onto the smokers outside. A woman came down the stairs covered in curry sauce. She told us that some guys upstairs threw their curry tray at her. After numerous discussions (which turned into arguments) with the duty manager we "gave up" trying to order another drink and went to bed. My colleague had the misfortune of being in the room across from the glass and curry throwers. Their door was kicked in, curry was all over her door and their room. Their room was thrashed. My colleague had then to be moved to another floor at 5am for safety reasons. Breakfast - disorganised and slow. Whilst settling the bill I went through all our issues with the shift manager in great detail. I had flagged all these issues again with the staff at the D after our party. They rang and apologised and as way of compensation offered us a 2 one night stays including dinner and a bottle of wine WITH DINNER (that is in caps for reasons that will be explained below) for 2 with each voucher. We both had a bottle of wine and 2 cakes in our room on arrival. We thought this was nice that they gave us wine in our room, as well as the wine for dinner. The cakes were STALE! Dinner that eve was good. As was the Christmas party dinner. Again the staff were making me feel terribly uncomfortable by constantly asking if everything was OK. Once or twice is fine but not constantly. During the meal there was confusion over the wine. The waitress said that 1 bottle was free. I argued that the agreement was one bottle per couple. She went and checked the emails and came back and apologised and said that it was 2 bottles. The waitress was very friendly and good craic. When we checked out the next day we were told there was an outstanding bill for 2 bottles of wine which came to approx €60. I explained that it was free as part of our voucher and this was confirmed by email. He then told us that there was a note on my booking that the wine in the hotel room was our free wine. Not the wine for dinner and we were expected to pay for the wine at dinner. I sighed very loudly. Looked at my colleague, laughed. Told the staff member that if we were getting wine for dinner, why on Earth would it be put in our hotel room 5 hours before dinner. He went and spoke to someone, came back and told me that we would not argue about it and it would be taken off the bill. Too bloody right!!!!!!! The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. The General Manager never contacted me once over all the f**k ups. I NEVER EVER EVER want to step food inside this ridiculously disorganised hotel. I actually need a double Bushmills and a Xanax reliving this through typing it on my laptop.......

Yelp
We stopped in Drogheda on our way back to Dublin, as I was simply too tired to complete the journey. After two weeks in B&Bs, we spotted the "d" and figured we'd treat ourselves to a nice luxury hotel for the night. Looking around the lobby, we were fully expecting to pay a fortune for our brief stay...but the rate they quoted was shockingly low, not much more than we had been paying for tiny B&B rooms. Our room was immaculate: large, clean and modern...in fact, it seemed brand new. Wonderful big bathtub, large flat-panel TV and possibly the most comfortable king-sized bed I've ever slept in, complete with a pristinely white down comforter. Wireless internet access is provided free, which provided a welcome opportunity to catch up with my emails. I've stayed in luxury hotels all over the world, so take my word for it: this is a REALLY NICE hotel. In a bigger city, such a room would fetch several hundred dollars a night. That night we walked through Drogheda looking for dinner, but it seemed most everything was closed. No matter, we headed back to the D and enjoyed their set menu. Which I should say, offers so many options that the word "set" hardly seems to apply. The dining room was quite elegant, the wine list surprisingly expansive, and the food excellent. We ate like kings for about 80 euro, including a nice bottle of wine. (Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.) When we checked out the following morning, everything went smoothly. No mysterious charges on the bill, and the staff was genuinely friendly and gracious. They even validate for parking in the adjacent lot, a nice surprise. Should you find yourself in Drogheda and in need of accommodations, I strongly urge you to check into the d.

Yelp
Great location! You can keep your car parked in their lot and walk everywhere. The hotel is modern in decor and clean.

Yelp
We only had a 1 night stay but it was nice room with a view of the river. The location was great and close to the 'High' street. We did not utilize their restaurant. Drogheda is certainly a 'blue-collar' town but was fun to walk aroun..

Yelp
I write this review to highlight the poor service in the D Hotel Drogheda. My partner and I were on business in Drogheda yesterday and after a longer evening we went to the D Hotel for food, thinking the standards would be high. The first thing we noticed was that there was no "Meet & Greet". Having asked if we could sit outside, a very pleasant lady informed us that was no problem and gave us menus. Having discovered it was too cold outside, we returned to the bar section of the hotel and sat down to study our menus. Having failed to get the attention of the staff to place our order over a 15 minute period, we decided that this was too stressful and we left the hotel. The frustrating thing about it was that there was not a shortage of staff, just poorly trained staff, who had no feel for the customer and gave the impression that they did not want the hassle of taking our order. While driving back to Dublin, I did try to call the duty manager on 041-9877700 but there was no reply. Maybe this sums it up - no telephone response from a hotel at 9pm on a monday evening has a real problem. I hope the Irish Hotels Fededation will note this when they next go on radio complaining about the fall off in numbers

Yelp
We got married last year and had our reception in the D along with booking in lots of our guests, many for two nights, and it was fantastic. Every step of the way in planning and enjoying the day we were treated very well by all of the staff we dealt with. The day went very well, the food was great, the service was great and we were delighted with the D both location and service wise. We felt we got great value and there was no stress, no hassle at all on the day or in the run up to it. The rooms are reasonably priced and are quite large compared to your average Irish hotel room I think. Decor is modern and bright and always immaculately clean. The bar can be a bit slow for food but service in the restaurant is better and the food is good and mostly locally sourced. The bar has entertainment quite often; your usual cheesy hotel bar acts.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night on holiday. It was a great location, walking distance to most of the sights of Drogheda. The on-site bar was phenomenal, the staff friendly and accommodating. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. In the morning we enjoyed an above-average buffet style breakfast that came with our trip purchase (we were on a Groupon tour of Ireland). The only complaint that I have is that the wifi was extremely inconsistent. Since I have no cell coverage in Ireland, I rely heavily on the wifi to stay in touch when I can, so not having consistent access was disappointing. Aside from that, great experience.

Yelp
I LOVED staying here! The room was spacious, clean and modern. The Breakfast was immense and delicious. The staff was gracious. The views were lovely. The balcony with a view of the river unexpected. The Beer Garden- perfect, and the town just a hop and skip over the bridge. I wouldn't go back to Drogheda necessarily but I would stay in a D hotel in a heart beat.

Yelp
This hotel was wonderful! Great location in close proximity to a handful of bars, a restaurant right below, and helpful staff. The rooms were also very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Stayed here in March...The D Hotel is a great place in the city, Easy to find (with Google ;)..even without Google, wouldn't be to hard to find, Good parking..Is right next to a Mall so easy to to get items you might need, Espresso stand right next door.Has a Bar/Restaurant in the same building that has great food...The breakfast was good and all you can eat..Great for loading up before you head out for the day...The hotel staff were extremely helpful and very nice..One of the desk staff, (wish I could remember her name) was from Galway, she gave us a bunch of ideas for places to go while we were there..I would highly recommend it if you if you plan on visiting Drogheda..One thing that really impressed me about Ireland ..WIFI was free in all (5) the hotels we stayed in. Unlike other countries I've visited where they charge you per day when chances are you'll only use it for a couple hours...Very nice.
