Excellent restaurant serving a fine dining experience in incredible and very unique surroundings (an old art deco cinema which once operated between the 1920s and early 1960s). The food was very tasty and the service was oustanding. Our waiter Hugo was impeccable and had the perfect personality to be a waiter. He was very friendly, personable, polite and willing to engage in conversation with the guests. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommended...just make sure Hugo serves you!

Great and warm welcoming feeling. The ambient is dominated by a big piano and the view on the kitchen. The staff is very attentive and flexible. Service has been one of the top with amazing food sourced locally (the beef is sourced by a local butcher). Absolutely loved the quality and the display of the food.

We have been to The Daffodil a few time recently and done the Sunday roast. It's good value with unlimited wine for 2 hours. You get a starter, main and unlimited wine for a good price. And we always get the sharer dessert as its brilliant. Always worth a try at this amazing venue.

Loved it here. Food was great, we had the bottomless brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Bargain ! Fantastic table service from our waiter Aaron, give him a payrise or some sort of recognition, he was marvellous. Only negative was dessert, overpriced and let the rest of the experience down, not tasty at all.

Review from a sleepy Monday night: Starters of double Gloucester soufflé and smoked salmon both good. Mains of rib eye beef and cod. The steak was chewy and not goodb at all, but removed from the bill without use even asking. The cod was excellent. Cheese board dessert was basic. The ambience is excellent and but the service was ok, polite but didn't know their own menu. Reasonable priced.

Absolutely superb restaurant. Amazing food, great attentive staff and lovely decor. Scallops starter with Belly Pork main and a selection of mini desserts was possibly one of the nicest meals I've had. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back.

A few days in Cheltenham found us visiting The Daffodil restaurant which had previously been highly recommended to us. The Daffodil is set down a side street just off Montpellier Gardens and away from the hustle and bustle of the main area and it proved we were quite fortunate to get a booking given the popularity of this place. A very smart venue with an ‘Art Deco’ feel which certainly makes this restaurant feel quite different to many other places we have dined at of late. An excellent menu and first class service makes this a place that anyone visiting Cheltenham must pay a visit. Without doubt, we would certainly head back to The Daffodil should we return to the Town. Don’t miss out.

Lovely birthday dinner with 5 friends, so we had a booth booked upstairs, which was great as could look down over the restaurant. The art deco lights were pretty cool! Wonderful cheese souffle to start, and then me and 2 others shared the chateaubriand; tender, cooked really beautifully and tasted great. The pinot noir paired really well with it too. Everybody enjoyed their meals, so definitely a thumbs up and recommended!!

Yelp
Steak night! £50 for two steaks, a bottle of wine and a side! Aside from the deal we got, this is a very cool place. A cinema dating from the 1920's, it's an interesting space. The food was good, but the service was great! Our server was very attentive and took very good care of us.

Yelp
You don't expect to find a really elegant restaurant in a far flung place like Cheltenham. No disrespect to Cheltenham of course but it's 2:30 hours from London and I was very surprised at how sophisticated the food and service was. The setting was a real highlight as well. Apparently it was an old cinema, which explains to beautiful at deco styling and the pictures of old movie stars decorating the walls. The lions share of the tables were in the area that would have been the theatre seats and the high ceilings and long bar added to drama to the occasion. The food was lovely. I had a Steak au Poivre, which was an enormous and incredibly tender fillet. The went overboard with the he peppercorn but those were easily scraped off. My fiancé got the half Lobster (which was alive until very recently; they have a saltwater tank on site) and at £22, you simply can't beat the value. The whole meal, and we didn't hold back, was £105 and you really can't do better than that.

Yelp
Woops think I posted photos twice for this. Decor - 1920s dining room - really lovely. Spacious between tables so you can have an intimate conversation. Great for a date night. Food - The tomato salad with burrata was full of flavour My half grilled lobster was tender with lovely flavour. The garlic butter was excellent. I swapped my chips for mashed potato which was ridiculously rich in butter (loved it but couldn't finish it) Service - Attentive and friendly Well done Daffodil!

Yelp
First meal in England and was a bit disappointed. Ambience is great, service was attentive, but food was far below expectations. It looked pretty but my food and my companion's were quite bland. It was like an experiment of textures since all the food was cooked well - the meat was medium rare and the lamb had a good sear, the souffle was fluffy, but there was very little flavor. A pinch of salt would have done wonders. Since the entrees and appetizer were a bit lacking, I ended up ordering dessert, which was the best part of the meal. Caramel corn topped a rich panna cotta, served with two mini macarons. Each component of the dessert was spot on and delightful. Service: 4/5 Really nice and attentive Ambiance: 4/5 Classy. It felt like walking into the lobby of a grand hotel in the 60s Food: 2/5 Deceptively pretty. If it was looks alone, it would get a 5, but since it didn't taste like anything... +1 for dessert though, because that was as delicious as it looked

Yelp
I had a real good meal here. I'm starting to see that the food in the UK is improving. I've been going to England for several decades and always found the ethnic foods (Indian, Chinese, etc.) were great but English cuisine so-so. That has really been changing. This restaurant is a converted theater and very charming. The staff were great and very friendly. If you are ever in the area would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Always love coming to the Daffodil. Highly recommend for an evening meal of afternoon tea at the weekends which is accompanied by live jazz. Beautiful venue, great food and great cocktails. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Yelp
A lovely place to dine with great decor and a nice atmosphere. Very nice cocktails and a good selection of wine. The food was pretty good and of a decent quantity. The menu was varied and interesting and service also good being friendly and helpful. Can get a bit noisy as it's effectively a big open hall. I would recommend, but just not quite sure if it's worth the money

Yelp
The Daffodil is definitely my favourite restaurant in Cheltenham (that is until I'm rich enough to dine in Le Champignon Sauvage!!). It has been beautifully decorated, and you feel like a star from the moment you step in. Someone immediately whisks your coat to the cloakroom and then you're led to your table in the magnificant dining room. The food is delicious, absolutely faultless in my experience. I also really love the bar upstairs where the staff are a real pleasure. I asked them to make a cocktail that wasn't on the menu and they whisked it up in no time without instruction and at no extra charge. Food and service as it should be - you get what you pay for.

Yelp
We dated at the daffodil. We got engaged at the daffodil. We go back. Why? It's simple. The food, the cocktails and the atmosphere! Love it!

Yelp
Refurbished to designs by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen early in 2008, it retains its amazing Art Deco look, only better. The food is pricey, but worth it. Service used to be a little weak, never unpleasant but often slow and distracted, but it seems to have improved. The food is great, imaginative but not ridiculous. One key thing kept from its previous look - the platter of desserts, a tiny version of five desserts from the menu to share between two. Yum!

Yelp
Wow this places my breath away - I do love Art Deco anyway so this was the experience for me. We were greeted by a lovely hostess (who was remarkable and got us a table last minute). Our coats were taken and we were taken to the upstairs bar where we tried the most amazing cocktails mine contained rum and went straight to my head so nice and strong! We were taken to our seats of a short while where we got to walk down stairs either side like in the old cinemas (they even old the old cameras on display) our meals (steak) we amazing and I could not fault the service very attentive and remembered our drinks order without us having to ask. It is pricy but worth it...waiting for my husband to take me again

Yelp
We came here for dinner on Thursday night. Its set in an old theatre which helps the dining room feel very atmospheric. I had a mulled cider from the aperitif menu to start with, which was a nice way to start dinner. I went for scallops with pork belly and fennel puree to start with, everything about it was brilliant, especially the fennel puree (probably because this was the part of the dish I hadn't been sure about on the menu). For main I had duck with braised red cabbage. I might have chosen the duck to be a bit pinker but it was still excellent and the cabbage cut through the fatty duck really well. We had a couple of vegetable sides, garlic mushrooms with pancetta, and creamed spinach. The mushrooms in particular were sensational. For dessert I had the creme brulee. When it came it was actually 2 creme brulees, one chocolate and one vanilla with orange. Both were light creamy and delicious. The wine list was long and interesting and reasonably priced. If we are ever in the area again we'll definitely be back

Yelp
Used to be an old cinema. A really plush restaurant to go for an occasion. Mid to Upper end in pricing but good food and service. Love it here. A fabulous setting, comfortable seats and plenty of space so you don't feel like you're sitting too close to the people next door.

Yelp
Delightful surroundings, good service and interesting varied menu with good choice of dishes. There is a good selection of wines (including half-bottles). The price is reasonable for food of this standard.

Yelp
Excellent food, very expensive but for the right occassion, you can't do any better in Cheltenham.
