On the Grid : The Grind

"A small coffee shop, but not a small menu. Whatever kind of coffee drink you like, they have it, and take so much pride and care in making it. Hungry? Try one of their donuts, pastries or quiches. Or if you're looking for lunch, try one of their sandwiches or salads and top it off with a cupcake or slice of pie. It's an excellent place to go on a Saturday morning, to kill time before/after a movie, or while you're waiting for a table. If it's nice out, take your treats outside to enjoy their patio." - Knoed Creative

The daily grind has its ups and downs. I remember one year going and getting a matcha that cost $8 and it was purely just the foam. Really disappointed. But other times they have great lattes! And honestly their food is really good. Last time I went I got an egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin and it was simple and perfect. My sister got the avocado toast and I had a bite and was honestly wishing I got that too. Pretty good food wish, I think the drinks are a little expensive for the quality but overall pretty good

Google
I’ve tried this place twice. 1st time I got the cold brew and 2nd time I got an iced latte, both were terrible. Idk what it is, the ratio of coffee to water, the espresso machine not dialed in correctly, the grind on the coffee, old espresso, idk. Both times were so terrible I ended up throwing it away. Which is crazy bc I love coffee. The staff was friendly and really quick to service. The interior is really nice. The coffee was just absolutely terrible.

Google
I’d like to rate the food, but seems every time I come in (last year and this year on vacation) the cook either didn’t show for work that day, or was running errands. They have a decent breakfast and lunch menu posted, if only someone was there to make it. Had an avocado toast in 2023 that was amazing. Coffee is good. Perhaps they should focus on that and eliminate the food menu altogether if reliable chefs are that hard to come by.

Google
Great coffee shop downtown Eagle River. Grabbed a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee ☕️ for the road. Peaceful atmosphere with friendly staff.

Google
I would say that this place of definitely a coffee shop worth going to. The overall experience was very positive however the actual taste of the coffee that I got (basic iced Carmel macchiato while good. Wasn’t exceptional. But it was relatively quick and the atmosphere was robust. Worth while going.

Google
Great, independently owned shop in DT Eagle River. 5 min drive from the Inn we stayed in, good coffee and pastries. Owner is friendly and provides great service. Love supporting this local shop when we’re in town.

Google
Cutest little coffee shop. Great service, the girls @ the front are very friendly and helpful. I’m new to the area and they helped me choose what I’d like by giving great recommendations. Family friendly, nice lounge area, and the food&drinks are fantastic.

Google
The Daily grind is such a cute, fun place to get your coffee, matcha, lotus or other drink fix! I love checking out the weekly specials, seasonal drink menus, and sweet treats. It's so nice to have such a selection so there's always something new to try or the kids can grab. A delicious, bright spot any day ❤️

Yelp
Located next the iconic Toad in the Hole & Smugglers in downtown Eagle River, The Daily Grind is a fairly new coffee joint serving Collectivo coffee. The inside is very modern and spacious, a great spot to wait for your breakfast reservation to open up, and the staff is super nice as well. They serve Monin syrups (important ifkyk) which is a plus, and have a variety of dairy free milks to choose from as well. They also offer a few tea options including chai and matcha. We ordered the following: Oatmilk Cappuccino Oatmilk London Fog w/ Oat Milk Iced Oatmilk Latte w/ Toffee Nut, Wisconsin Maple & caramel drizzle. I think I just don't love Collectivo espresso beans as everyone who got coffee in my party said the drinks were just ok. The flavorings are perfect, we prefer Monin, but the espresso is just a little too bitter tasting? Maybe the shots weren't pulled correctly. I'd come back to try the sandwiches or for the London Fog, but I'll stick to Eagle River Roasters down the street for coffee.

Yelp
We were visiting up north and searching for a good cup of coffee. We stumbled upon The Daily Grind. It's a cute, cozy coffee shop that also serves food. The Fall specialty drinks sounded and looked amazing, but I opted for a latte and my husband order a regular brewed coffee. We were not disappointed. It's hard to find really good coffee up her, so we were really pleased and pleasantly surprised that the serve several Colectivo brands and sell the whole beans too. The women who took our order was very friendly and answered all our questions. We were also tempted by an avocado toast with egg that came out of the kitchen with all the fixings. Yum!

Yelp
I think I might just be done getting coffee here, unless I send someone else for it. The owners are just straight up rude and definitely pick and choose who they're going to be nice to and give good service to. They don't seem welcoming or friendly. My drinks are never hot when I order them myself, but are when I send someone they like in to order. They barely call my drinks out and when I ask if that is my drink the guys say "Yyyeah" like "That's what I said isn't it?" I'm not always a people person either but at least I can admit that and would take it upon myself to NOT open a coffee shop.

Yelp
Food and coffee is great, but they serve everything to go even if u eat in. Plastic utensils and container overload. I want to eat here but it's an environmental disaster. Do the planet a favor and invest in plates, mugs and silverware!

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop! They have only been open for a month (it was previously called the blend). Looks like it was completely remodeled. The sitting area is cute and spacious, plenty of tables and lounging area. They have coffee, teas, lotus energy drinks, breakfast and lunch items. We got the iced caramel macchiato and iced white mocha - both delicious and a sausage egg breakfast sandwich which your choice of bread and cheese - also delicious and came with side of berries. Will definitely be back!! I want to try one of their lotus energy drinks since I've never heard of them before and they look good.

Yelp
Nice vibe and friendly people. Just a little warning, they put frozen fruit in the parfait instead of fresh fruit. If that's a problem for you, keep that in mind. Maybe you can ask them if they have fresh fruit to put in instead.

Yelp
The CUTEST little coffee shop in Eagle River. Fun seasonal drinks and a small lunch menu. We went two days in a row and both days they were busy. Staff seemed very calm and collected and got the orders out quickly. It was a great experience and the inside of the place is adorable.

Yelp
Good coffee, friendly staff. I stop and purchase a large coffee every time I am in Eagle River in the morning.

Yelp
Apparently the rude girl working was the owner. You can defend your words all you want, but there's absolutely no reason to be snarky. Learn that the customer is always right - how hard is it to be kind?

Emma P.

Yelp
My favorite place to go whenever I want a drink or to study, especially to hang out with friends. Everyone is so nice and always has a smile of their face. All of the drink are so unique and special in their own way and all taste so good. I love this place so much!!

Yelp
This place serves delicious coffee and tea. The brand of coffee they use is Collectivo and the brand of tea is Rishi. Do yourself a favor, and have breakfast at Toad in the Hole (two doors down from The Daily Grind). Put your name on the waitlist and while you wait for a table at Toad in the Hole get yourself a coffee/tea from the Daily Grind. Also, for the book lovers, they have a free little library shelf inside.

Yelp
Great coffee place. Love the variety of drinks from lattes to lotuses. The food I've tried so far is delicious too.

Paris W.

Yelp
the worst service. have been going here since it became daily grind. have previously gotten milk tea - not anymore. previously gotten plain boba - not anymore. super rude and told they never had it. asked for mango popping - didn't have it. could have at least been friendly about it but instead the mgr was rude and insulting.

Stihltoe ..

Yelp
Poor customer service. They don't smile or say hi. Go to Jamie's Java or Roots where the service and quality is better. Ordered a mocha and she pours ice over the shots so that the glass Is filled up 3/4 with water and espresso. Wrong! Then they laugh at you when you challenge the drink. Go to a proper training school on how to make lates or mochas.

Yelp
Stopped by for coffee and breakfast before the Fourth of July parade. The coffee was perfectly prepared and the breakfast sandwiches were made to order. The ship is clean and the staff are extra friendly. Highly recommend!

Kali H.

Yelp
Great coffee, I had the caramel macchiato and would recommend it. The ambiance was modern and lively. The staff were very pleasant:)

Yelp
The Daily Grind is a New coffee shop which opened earlier this season. Please be aware that the former coffee shop Blend, which existed in this space, is still listed on this website at this time. The space has been updated with a nice fresh modern look. However, personally I prefer the more traditional Northwoods look featured previously. The menu has been updated to include some trendy items such as creative French toast and avocado toast. If you are in a hurry premade selections such as salads and wraps are available. Colectivo coffee is still used. A public parking lot is available in back as well as a back entrance and patio.

Yelp
So cute and great coffee every time I've been here! Highly recommend if your in the area!

Yelp
I went to the Daily Grind twice, both times on the weekend, while visiting Eagle River. I'm fairly impressed with their menu variety considering the size of the coffee shop. Not to say there is an endless selection, but there are quite a few options for food, coffee, tea, smoothies, etc. The only drawback for this place is how busy it can get. That is not a bad thing necessarily and it shouldn't be held against the coffee shop - especially considering I went during the weekend and in the summer. Although, I do think it is something that should be considered before stopping in. Do you have the time and are you willing to wait a while for your order? If anything, maybe call ahead and to place an order. All in all I would say it's worth the wait!

Jen C.

Yelp
What an unpleasant experience. I ordered a corned beef sandwich. I received a Reuben. The sign was confusing at best but the unfortunate part was how it was handled. The woman said the only corned beef sandwich they offer is a Reuben. I find it hard to believe they roast their corned beef with sauerkraut and globs of dressing. No apology, no offer to make me anything different, no offer to give me my money back, I'm just stuck with a disgusting, gloppy sandwich I won't eat. Very disappointing.

Yelp
So cute! A little wait but worth it. Coffee and food!! It's my go to spot when we go up north!

Austin L.

Yelp
Love stopping here for coffee while in town. Always very busy but quick and friendly service. Coffee is excellent

Lisa B.

Yelp
Drinks are subpar at best. Prices are extremely high for the quality. Their "new" cold brew is SOUR tasting no matter if you have it sweetened or not. Staff is friendly but completely unorganized. Also, how can it be legal to use a trademark like Frappuccino on their menu???

Yelp
Love that you open at 6:00 a.m. rather than 7:00. Great coffee from Collectivo & wonderful breakfast menu. Suggest less rock music & lower volume during the early hours. Interior is really nice, plenty of seating & plenty of outside sitting areas as well.

Yelp
Owners Are Amazing, interior and exterior is simple yet clean and modern, food is put of this world tasty and filling and the drinks are delicious!!

Yelp
This place is so cute and the drinks were amazing! Absolutely love it and will be back
